Her skin is white cloth, and she's all sewn apart and she has many colored pins sticking out of her heart. She has a beautiful set of hypno-disk eyes, the ones that she uses to hypnotize guys. She has many different zombies who are deeply in her trance. She even has a zombie who was originally from France. But she knows she has a curse on her, a curse she cannot win. For if someone gets too close to her, the pins stick farther in.

“Her skin is white cloth, and she’s all sewn apart and she has many coloured pins sticking out of her heart.” Tim Burton’s poem, Voodoo Doll speaks of a voodoo girl who is completely white with the only the pins that are impaled in to her showcasing colour. Hex takes this imagery and transforms the idea of the cursed girl into a more positive garment collection. Staying true to the poem, many garments are the all-white as described, alongside black garments which are motivated from voodoo dolls in general showing the traditionally dark side of voodoo and the idea of black magic. Exaggerated stitching, representative of how these dolls are often falling apart and stitched back together, adds key detailing to the garments combined with giant buttons that are often used to replace the eyes. The multi-coloured pins are represented through pompoms which add a three-dimensional element to the clothes, as stated in the poem all of these exaggerated details are multi-coloured not only illustrating the description set up in the poem but creates a more vibrant and energetic look. These features bring a homemade concept to the garments, often how voodoo dolls are created and reflects the idea that the garments can be easily repaired, just like the dolls. The silhouettes, also inspired by the dolls, loosely fit to the body illustrating their often bulky representation of the body.

The human body is one of the most beautiful and fascinating things, and this collection Micro attempts to represent some of this beauty by looking at the body in a more scientific way. Microscopic images of particular parts of the human body - eyelashes, bones, cells – have been combined to create a print that reveals the deeper hidden refinement of people. Inspired by the Spring/Summer 2016 trend Deep Summer, the print is bold and strong, taking away from the delicateness of cells and showing them in an empowered way. Multiple images have been combined and layered to show that it is an amalgamation of these elements that make up the human body and illustrate the hidden depth of us people, which we do not often realise or consider. The colours of the print are also taken from the zoomed in images and exaggerated, showcasing all the hidden colours that make up us humans. These colours have also been extracted to compose the main palette creating bold solids that complement the print. Looking into the designer Henry Holland, who often combines different similar prints, my print is repeated in black and white adding an interesting contrast to the garments. The silhouettes are also inspired by the designer taking his feminine tailoring and angled lines to influence my collection. Loose knit garments further illustrating the microscopic images adds another texture to the collection further replicating the depth of the human body.

As a collaborative collection with Adidas, Transmission a men’s sportswear collection draws inspiration from previous collaborates Neighbourhood, Takadanobaba and Palace. Reflecting on their interesting silhouettes and slight use of draping, which is unusual in sportswear, the collection combines Adidas’ traditional sportswear styles with a more contemporary and angular shaping. Looking to the Spring/Summer 2016 trend Off Beat the collection takes influence from the idea of technology in sport. Looking into the machines and what makes them work, the cog is very important to the collection. The shape of the cog has been layered and intertwined in a bold print to reflect the inside of technology and how when it comes to sport, men act like machines. The shape of the cog has also been used to add a repeated intricate stitch detailing in certain panels of the garments as well as outlining some panels. Sports mesh is a key feature that has been used to reflect Adidas styling as well as creating a window into the under layers of the outfits, or to the skin, to illustrate the idea of seeing inside the machine. Summer rustic tones, taken from old rusty machines construct a simple colour palette that reflects the idea that machines run quietly in the background without anyone paying them much notice.

As a diffusion collection, times two, takes inspiration from the collection II and makes it appropriate for a high street collaboration with H&M. Drawing influence from the concept of twins this collection explores their deeper meaning. Focusing on the positive affect growing up as art of a duo has, the collection portrays a sweet naivety through a playful style. The strength of the unparalleled bond of two siblings, born and raised together, is represented though the strong angular lines of pleating, which not only portrays this aspect but also the idea of repetition and the similarity between twins. The colours inspired by the first family holiday me and my brother partook in, are bold and striking with a hint of darker neutral tones, which mirrors the joy of being a twin and the bright energy it brings to a child growing up. The colours are also representative of the Autumn/Winter 2016/17 trend Off Beat, which helped influence the collections playful and energetic style. Looking further into the meaning of twins it is understood that twins despite being the strong individuals that they are, they always carry an element of the other within them at all times, showing that the bond of twins exceeds distance and time, meaning that they are never truly apart. This is represented through peek-a-boo pleating, with a contrasting colour standing bold behind the outer pleat.
