We believe in fostering an awareness of the continual need for social change. 8. We believe in and respect religious, ethnic, cultural and economic diversity.

DEAR Thank you for “Bridging the Gap’’ to Rosarian Academy’s future in some of the most trying times schools have faced. In 2020-2021, with the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the pandemic, many schools were forced to close their doors permanently, but not Rosarian Academy. It is due to your generosity and support that we were able to navigate the school year. We asked you to give more, and put simply, you stepped up. It is a testament to you, primarily, and then also to the strength of our community that in a time of need and of asking, our parents and benefactors answered the call. We are a community that shares a mission and goal for every student that walks the halls of Rosarian Academy, and you have demonstrated your willingness to invest in that vision. Through your support and gifts to our school in 2020-2021, you bridged the gap between tuition and the full cost of providing the Rosarian Experience that benefis every student and enhances the quality of a Rosarian education for years to come. This annual giving report is a declaration of your generosity and a testament to the “Uniquely RA” community that has been established over the span of nearly a century. Rooted in the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and service, Rosarian Academy consists of faith-filled, family-centered faculty, teachers, administrators, parents, students, alumni, and friends joined in creating an exceptional environment that excels in knowledge, faith, arts, athletics, and active service. With the guidance of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and the Board of Directors, and your financial support, we are building a bridge to the future of Rosarian Academy. Reflecting on the 2020-2021 academic year, Rosarian experienced growth and overcame challenges in many areas. The start of the school year was unlike any other. In the middle of a global pandemic, there was uncertainty concerning how to navigate the challenges. With prayerful discernment and the support of the Rosarian Academy community, our teachers rose to the occasion, providing in-person learning, synchronous, and asynchronous instruction so that students and parents had options. Students rose to the challenge and learned new technology and procedures, from Zoom to Google Classroom. In person learning was navigated with social distancing, wearing masks, and enhanced cleaning and hygiene. The difficulties of the pandemic demonstrated the strength of our Rosarian Academy community. We are constantly reviewing our curriculum to ensure that we are preparing our students and giving them a foundation for life to ensure Rosarian Academy has the strongest academic offerings.

Our teachers and administration assessed our curriculum through collaborative processes, while ensuring that we are teaching to the many needs and learning styles of our students. We continued to expand and add materials to the Freitas STEM Innovation Center. The Lower School students were learning the basics of coding, while our Middle School students use Python, a program language that allowed students to create and write code using the Carnegie Mellon Academy coding curriculum, which is made available to us as a Carnegie Science Museum STEM Pathway Partner. Our full-time School Nurse enabled Rosarian to provide services that ensured the general health of our student body, which was essential during the world pandemic. Extracurricular classes and many activities were limited, but we creatively reimagined how to continue to build our community. Middle and Lower School field days took place, and middle school boys were able to participate in intramural basketball. The boys and girls lacrosse seasons took place in limited fashion, as well. The 6th and 7th grades enjoyed team building opportunities at the FAU ropes course. Our 4th graders were able to continue the tradition of visiting the Little Red School House. Of course, with service being a pillar of the Rosarian community, opportunities to glean and care for our environment through beach cleanups also afforded our students opportunities to grow as faith-filled individuals. After a year with most things virtual, even our school masses, we were able to honor our graduating students with a socially distanced Baccalaureate Graduation and Mass on Rosarian’s campus. The pandemic ushered in financial challenges that your support helped to overcome. Your support assisted in closing the gap between tuition revenues and the actual cost to educate Rosarian students. Classroom sizes were kept intentionally small to ensure social distancing. Your increased financial support allowed us to remain financially sound through these unexpected strains while continuing to retain highly trained and qualified faculty and staff, maintain small class sizes, and offer an advanced, progressive, and accelerated academic program. Each gift received is a testament to the value of a Rosarian education. Each gift received allowed us to continue to be a leader in Catholic and Independent school education. It is with utmost appreciation that we thank you, once again, for “Bridging the Gap” and ensuring the future of Rosarian Academy is bright. With gratitude and blessings,

Linda M. Trethewey Head of School

CATHY READER

SC H O L ARSHIP FU N D Catherine Reader, who spent a half-century joyfully serving in a variety of faculty and administrative roles at Rosarian Academy, died of cancer on May 21, 2021. Ms. Reader, a native of Brooklyn, NY was raised on Freeport, Long Island. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State College with a degree in physical education, she joined the faculty at Rosarian, which became her home for 50 years. In addition to teaching and coaching softball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, and golf at the school, Ms. Reader was also instrumental in bringing interscholastic girls’ athletics to Palm Beach County. She later served as Rosarian Academy’s athletic director, theatre lighting director, and finally, its director of facilities. At the time of her death, she was the longest-tenured member of the school’s faculty and staff. Throughout her tenure at Rosarian, Ms. Reader embodied the spirit of the school and was often referred to as its heart and soul. To honor her legacy and pay forward her spirit and dedication to future students, Rosarian Academy has created a scholarship fund in her memory. If you would like to make a gift to the fund please visit rosarian.org/the-catherine-reader-scholarship-fund/ or contact the Advancement Office at 561.345.3109. Catherine “Cathy” Reader
