Learning Calculating while Playing
237 pieces
014053 Number and Calculating Track, 237 Parts
with many house building blocks
Learning numbers one train after the other. The number and calculation train station connects playing, learning and constructing. With the roofs, building and door blocks, houses and entire streets of houses can be built. In the course, the number blocks can be built in as house numbers (up to 20). The railroad is integrated into the game as transportation device for the building materials. So, an order may be to get the missing number block for a house number. If a house is demolished, the children can be asked to find out which house number is missing. The number and calculation train station makes the transition to tens visible and easier to comprehend. The railcars
have room for 10 pegs each: 5 blue and 5 red ones. The demonstrated amounts can be presented in form of the number blocks. In connection with arithmetic operators, it is turned into a math problem. And the train can once more carry in the result. The grooved bars facilitate the counting from 0-20, the figuring out of the precursor and successor. Also here, the train is once more the transportation device. Contents: 1 locomotive, 4 railcars, 109 house blocks, 30 number blocks (house numbers 1-20), 21 railroad tracks, 2 switches, 2 number train stations, 20 pegs, 48 number blocks. Material: beechwood. Dimensions: houses 5 x 2 cm, track network approx. 150 x 105 cm. The parts are compatible with all popular wooden railroad track systems.

A concept for developing prerequisites in maths and language
Developed in cooperation with experts
is a holistic concept that targets easily-assimilated early support of mathematical skills. The differences between quantities, spatial concepts and time sequences are brought to life by pictures and language. The zoo adventure with Dapdap the penguin and Milly the zoo keeper encourages children to re-enact the stories with the additional materials. Similarly, predeďŹ ned ideas for games and free, experimental play make mathematical thought accessible to children in a fun way.

The main characters are a bear, two lions and three elephants and their experiences make quantities, spatial directions and time sequences easy to understand. The design of the books supports purposeful work with the content. Each book has 16 card pages with colored illustrations. Format: DIN A4. The materials pack to go with the 3 picture books helps children to internalise and re-enact the stories. Differentiation between numbers and quantities, spatial and positioning terms and time sequences are made conceptually tangible in the game. In the accompanying educational guidelines, teachers can find background information on the concept and methods, as well as lots of play ideas for using the material to put the content into action. For example, 1, 2 or 3 pegs can be attached to each of the three houses, allowing children to experience quantity through touch.

205654 Holistic Learning Concepts
Willy’s World of Numbers is a holistic learning concept for acquiring well-founded mathematical knowledge about the cardinal numbers. In Willy’s World of Numbers, maths is designed by children. What could be more natural than inventing a land with number animals, roads, towers and gardens and where a number witch and a number goblin get up to all sorts of mischief? A land where numbers feel at home and where they can express their mathematical qualities in their own unique way. When building the number land, children become actively involved in the many different possibilities for activity and play, with their heads, hearts and hands. Children experience the most important manifestations of numbers in a tangible yet fun way and investigate the links between the numbers 0 - 10. Furthermore, Willy’s World of Numbers challenges and helps to develop children’s perception and concentration, social skills and perseverance, fine and gross motor skills, as well as language ability. 088878 <:G=6G9 ;G>:9G>8= $ K>DA6 9: <6A<D8ON 76G76G6 H8=>C9:A=6J:G

THE NUMBER GARDENS
75
cm
The number gardens form the basis for Willy‘s World of Numbers. They represent the numbers in form of geometric shapes: the 3 as triangle, the 4 as square etc. Each number from 1 to 10 has its own number garden. First of all, the gardens are laid out and furnished: the children place the number houses into the right number gardens – the little flag indicates the “house number”. Then, they can mark each of the corners with one cube of the “number towers”. In addition, items are placed in the gardens in the correct quantity (building blocks, marbles) or with specific features (three wheels, four legs).

THE NUMBER PATH Willy’s number path connects the World of Numbers with kinesthetic experiences. It makes it possible to experience the sequence of numbers (= order aspect) through movement. While stepping forwards or backwards, while jumping or walking, the children are playfully memorizing the number sequence.

The Number Houses Willy’s number houses familiarize children with numbers, because they literally make room for numbers. The number houses are wooden cubes with a flag that can be inserted on the top and round openings, the “windows”. The windows on the number houses are grouped like the pips on a dice and represent the amount aspect. The windows can be closed or opened again with the wooden pegs. The flags bring order to the Land of Numbers. In the house of the number 1, everything can be found once, in the house of the number 2 twice and so on. With the Number Gardens (on page 75), you can extend the spaces around the houses.

The Number Animals With the help of the number animals, every number from 0 to 10 get its own, distinctive personality: the six becomes the curly snail, the seven the black and white zebra etc. In their shape, the stuffed animals correspond to the individual numbers. In addition, the respective number is emblematized by distinctive symbols, e.g. dots or spikes. In connection with stories and songs, the number animals playfully provide the children with an intensive insight into the basic numbers.

Polarization of Attention
The “polarization of attention” means the ability of a deep concentration while working a material of one’s own choice. In doing so, the child follows mainly his or her own interests and requirements. The child completely delves into his or her action, while ignoring their surroundings. An uplifting feeling, inner contentment and balance can be seen once the work has been completed.

130977 Long Red Rods
The classic among the Montessori materials - just as ingenious as simple! Besides the establishment of fundamental mathematical insights, the objectives are also the development of the eye-hand coordination, the harmonizing of the motion sequences and the perceiving of differences in size with a shape that stays the same.
The material draws the attention of the child to the feature of “length” and “differences in length”. The red rods are an ideal preparation for the numerical rods. Especially the different possibilities for evening out have a propaedeutic function for learning adding and subtraction. The largest rod corresponds in length with the smallest and the second-largest rod together etc.
Contents: 10 pink cubes in the sizes ranging from 1 x 1 x 1 cm to 10 x 10 x 10 cm. A second small cube is included for demonstrating the increasing dimensions from one cube to the next larger one.
Contents: 10 massive red wooden rods with squared side surface of 2.5 cm and different lengths ranging from 10 cm to 1 m.

130962 Constructive Triangles in Five Boxes
5 wooden bins 61 constructive triangles
61 constructive triangles of differing shapes and sizes in five colors, stored in 5 little wooden bins (rectangular, triangular, hexangular). The children can sort the triangles from one bin by color, size or shape and lay them out to one another, in order to form different shapes. By adding the triangles from another bin, the difficulty is increased. Most of the colored triangles (except the blue ones) have one or several black lines, which are very helpful when laying shapes. Now, the children can differentiate between shapes of the same content and the same form and find other shapes by sliding or turning over individual triangles.
“The Key to the World“ Children are curious and active. They gain a wide variety of experiences via the senses. The sensorial materials by Maria Montessori provide the children with the possibility to structure this variety. The appeal of the shape’s color, shine and harmony is encouraging activities and guides the children into a deep form of concentration. The isolation of just one feature each within one material helps to direct the attention to this feature, which is only rarely possible in the real world. By means of objects, children learn to recognize features, which are sorted, graded, paired and compared. This way, the world is opening up for them and an elemental foundation for geometry, math, biology, arts and music. As the different sensory areas are addressed, trained and molded, the material is supporting the child’s development. By differentiating the perception, the intelligence and personality are developed. The individual supporting of children is made possible by the variable difficulty levels. Due to a learning control, the children are working independently and autonomously.
130236 Geometric Cabinet Stable wooden box (48 x 32 x 17 cm) with 6 removable drawers (each 46 x 31 x 2 cm). In each drawer, different geometric shapes can be found, which vary in form and/or size (6 triangles, 6 rectangles, 6 regular polygons, 6 circles and 5 or 4 different figures, respectively). Six frames (14 x 14 cm) are laid out at the bottom of each drawer, in which the respective matching geometric shapes must be placed. The goals include the recognition of shapes, training the visual memory and - by targeted grasping - the preparation for writing.
130274 Geometric Solids with Stands 8 cm
The set contains massive blue wooden models, which can be used to train the recognition and naming of basic geometric bodies. Contents: cylinder, cube, ellipsoid, egg, sphere. Four-sided and three-sided pyramid, conic body, triangular prism and cuboid as well as 3 transparent plastic stands. Dimensions for comparison: cuboid 8 x 4 x 4 cm.
www.
130275 Geometric Plane Figures with Box 5 wooden base areas for geometric shapes. The children can match the base areas with the full bodies. In doing so, it becomes clear by turning that a body may have several base areas that may differ from each other. Furthermore, the children can also compare the base and/or side areas of several bodies. Dimensions for comparison: cuboid 8 x 4 cm.

130269 Thermic Tablets
The little bottles can be filled with water at different temperatures. In order to sort the bottles according to temperature or to identify bottles of the same temperature, the children must depend completely on their thermo-reception, because there is no way of cheating due to the identical bottles. Contents: wooden box with 8 metal bottles with screw tops.
Although all objects in a room usually have the same temperature, they differ in how warm or cool they feel. This is caused by the specific thermal conductivity of the substances. Therefore, we perceive, for example, felt as being much “warmer” than iron, although both actually have the same temperature - i.e. the room temperature. By touching with the hand,

have a white frame for better handling and can be stored after use in the wooden box with lid that comes with them. Contents: 63 color tablets in 9 colors.
4 sets, each containing 10 cylinders, which are varying in height and/or diameter depending on the set. The children are sensitized to dimensional differences by repeated sorting and combining. Each set comes in a wooden box with matching cover: red, green, yellow, blue. Each set contains a replacement for the smallest cylinder. Dimensions: cylinder Ă˜ 1-5 cm, height 1-5 cm, box 13.5 x 13.5 x 7 cm.
Cylinder Blocks The cylinder blocks are a material that is consistently geared at sensory perception and which is especially intriguing due to its simplicity. This is mainly achieved by isolating and varying a feature, on which the child is focusing completely. During individual exercises with the different blocks, terms like thick thin, narrow - wide, high - low, flat - deep, etc. are developed and fundamentals for mathematical comprehension are acquired. Every wooden block has slots for 10 each wooden cylinders with knob. Dimensions: Wooden block 46 x 7.5 x 7.5 cm. Cylinder Ă˜ from 1 - 5 cm, height 1 - 5 cm.

Sandpaper Letters Sandpaper letters are located on little lacquered wooden boards. Consonants are pink, vowels blue. The children feel the shape of the individual letters and pronounce the respective sound. This way, they learn how the letters are written as well as the relation between sound and letter. The sandpaper letters are intentionally targeted at addressing several senses. A special feature of this material is mainly the inclusion of the sense of touch. The sandpaper letters are suited for different activities: e.g. laying out the alphabetic sequence, copying the letters, writing the letters in sand, laying out words, and much more. Material: MDF.
