San Carlos

, a friendly, middle-class neighborhood within the city limits of San Diego, is bordered by the neighborhoods of Del Cerro to the west and Fletcher Hills to the east, and the cities of La Mesa to the south and Santee to the north. With easy access to Routes 52, 8, and 125, downtown San Diego can be reached in only 20 minutes, and the beaches are less than 30 minutes away. Mission Trails Regional Park, Grossmont Hospital, and Grossmont College are all close by.

Step back into San Diego’s native habitat in nearby Mission Trails Regional Park. The park encompasses 7,220 acres of natural and developed areas. Hike through rugged hills and open valleys. One of the largest urban parks in the United States, Mission Trails includes Old Mission Dam and Lake Murray. Walk, jog, or cycle along the 6.4-mile round-trip path around this serene lake. For the more adventurous hiker or runner, climb up Cowles Mountain. The three-mile round-trip trek with a 933-foot vertical ascent leads to the 1,591-foot summit, the highest point in the city of San Diego. Just below Cowles Mountain, golf at the 18-hole, public Mission Trails Golf Course or hit a few balls at its lighted driving range or practice putting greens.

Residents don’t have far to travel to shop. Grossmont Center, an outdoor mall with over 100 stores, is anchored by Macy’s, Walmart, Target, and Restoration Hardware Outlet, as well as a 10-screen movie theater with stadium seating.

Part of the San Diego Unified School District, San Carlos has four elementary schools, two middle schools, and high-ranking Patrick Henry High School. San Diego State University is close by.

An established neighborhood, San Carlos offers a thriving environment for couples and families with children who want to live in a convenient, suburban neighborhood.
