ARTS ADVENTURES Season!

Dear Educator,

Before you enjoy flipping through to see the exciting educational opportunities for students to experience the power of live performance – I’d like to extend a huge thanks and appreciation to YOU – educators, administrators, community workers – who guide and nurture new generations of students by creating rich and vibrant learning environments and opportunities.

This season we are pleased to introduce you to BRAMPTON ON STAGE – our new umbrella brand that celebrates our four distinct venues. The Rose Mainstage and Studio, LBP, Cyril Clark, and Garden Square create an interrelated, city-wide campus, all working together to deliver inspiring, innovative, and diverse performing arts experiences.

The performances in the 23/24 Arts Adventures series have a rich variety for students of all ages. We are pleased to present Hamlet, starring Canadian-Pakistani superstar Ahad Raza Mir, and are proud to offer students the chance to learn about West Coast First Nations through Spirit and Tradition: Dancers of Damelahamid, and Th’owxiya; The Hungry Feast Dish. Plus, don’t miss the return of school show favourite, Jake’s Gift. From Jungle Book to Casting Off to The Mighty Remix and more — there is truly something for everyone.

As we expand our school offerings, this season we are introducing new intiatives:

Take Our Kids to Work Day - November 1: Grade 9 students who do not have a parent placement and are interested in learning about careers in performing arts can spend a day at The Rose.

Professional Learning Day for TeachersOctober 12, 2023 (in person); October 18, 2013 (virtual): A drama workshop inspired by themes connected to Hamlet, includes a ticket to the evening performance.

And that’s not all! This September we will launch our first Lifelong Learning programs for people of all ages to participate in all aspects of performing arts. We can’t wait to welcome you to one of the workshops!

As always, we want to hear from you. Please reach out to us at rose.education@brampton.ca to share your feedback or requests.

On behalf of all of us in Performing Arts we look forward to seeing you and your students at our venues.

Warm Regards,

Christina Akrong Education & Outreach Coordinator

SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR (SHSM) PROGRAM

We are pleased to support students in SHSM programs. This may be through SPCE sessions, certification training opportunities, or other ways - let us know how we can best support your class!

Sector Partnered Contextualized Exercise (S.P.C.E.) in Innovation, Creativity & Entrepreneurship

We will work with school board partners to co-design an authentic training challenge that is meaningful to both the students and our organization that may focus on space design, program creation or service innovation. We will be present during the session to provide feedback to students on the solutions and ideas they generate.

Students can get an understanding of our programs and services through interviews and talks as we share opportunities of career choices within the sector, and personal career path stories. We are happy to host the event at one of the City of Brampton’s Performing Arts venues and include a facility tour.

Experiential Learning and Career Exploration Opportunities
