Brampton On Stage is pleased to offer a designated performing arts co-op program for Black and Indigenous students in grades 11 & 12.

This co-op program aims to:

• Celebrate and elevate Black and Indigenous youth

• Provide opportunities for professional development

• Prepare students for future leadership positions and careers in the live performance industry

In this program, students will identify their own performing arts learning goals and work toward them with the support of professional guest artists. Part artist residency, part professional development, and part leadership, students will also have the opportunity to design and moderate the HeART Changers presentation which is part of the Arts Adventures Education Series.

The traditional story of Klara’s magical journey with her nutcracker prince with a decidedly Canadian twist, THE NUTCRACKER: A CANADIAN TRADITION is a holiday favourite that brings Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score to schools for the holidays. Created by acclaimed choreographer Bengt Jörgen in collaboration with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the production is a unique fusion of ballet and classical music on a backdrop of iconic Canadian paintings.

Grade Range: 4-12

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s unique adaptations of children’s literary classics have enchanted more than six million spectators on four continents. Based on the book by New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Todd Parr, IT’S OKAY TO BE DIFFERENT brings page to stage through an innovative approach to puppetry manipulation and construction, combined with playful original music.
