Monday 21st, conference at 2pm in the Seminar Theatre A French view of Luxury by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance biography At the beginning, the designer was involved with sculpture, marked by a history and very close link with nature that he wanted to transcribe again with his own hands. Stirring up emotion through the utility of forms was a matter of course for someone who loves beauty as much as necessities and harmony as much as responsibility. Hence design… Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance often compares his approach to niwa, the little garden found at the heart of a traditional Japanese house. Like an organic pulse within a discipline dedicated above all to respond to the demands of the industry, market or client. Thus, he does not limit himself in the projects that he develops, as ready to design objects for inspired lines for design manufacturers (Bernhardt Design, Ceccotti Collezioni, Ligne Roset, Pleyel, Tacchini, Zanotta…) as to compose harmonious living areas (Air France lounges, Ciel de Paris, Senderens, Megu at The Alpina Gstaad, La Transhumance chalet…) as well as to define the image of a product or a showcase for a famous brand (Paco Rabanne, YSL Beauté, Perrier Jouët, Baccarat, Swarovski). Inhabited by a legacy for art nouveau, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance refers not only to the universal character of nature to impose forms which make sense but in addition states that the concept of total art is henceforth fundamental to contemporary creation.

alki
Alki ZI Errobi 64250 Itxassou France Ms heuty arantxa sales & Marketing manager export@alki.fr Tel : +33 (0)5 59 29 84 17 www.alki.fr
Alki´s path started in 1981 in a small village in the northern Basque Country, in Itsasu. In a time of economic difficulties a group of five friends founded a small chair factory, named Alki «which means chair in Basque» with the aim of creating jobs in a weakly industrialized region. The cooperative status was the most suitable to our values which are an essential part of our day-to-day existence. Combining ancestral tradition and modern technology, Alki now offers conviviality in a more contemporary style. Upon opening the workshop doors, your senses are overwhelmed by the smell of wood. The principle raw material, oak, comes from sustainably managed French forest. The drying process is slow and delicate, requiring between four and seven years to attain a material suitable for our purposes. The manufacturing process involves various trades: carpenters, joiners, builders, finishers and, of course, master upholsterers. This allows precise assembly that precedes sanding, staining and varnishing by hand. Craftsmen’s skills are combined with the latest technology. At ALKI, oak wood is much more than a simple raw material. Oak is synonymous with nobility, strength and endurance. It symbolizes the company’s firm commitment to an approach of rational and sustained development. Recently, ALKI launched the first bioplastic chair: a biobased and recyclable material, KUSKOA BI designed by Jean Louis Iratzoki

allot The Allot’s story began in 1812 when Jean Allot practised the crafts of tanner and cooper. Across the 8 different generations, the workshop enriched itself by creating, among others, horse-drawn carriages and chairs which were always inspired from the region. Indeed, wood has always been the common theme of the Allot family, each generation passing down the different crafts which show the raw material at his best light. The Allot Workshop also acquired new art crafts such as the marquetry and the lacquer crafts. Allot furniture are listed according to different French historic styles such as the Louis XIV one or the Louis XVI one. French history is therefore reflected in the furniture. Moreover, the different methods to work the wood have always been the same and consequently remain ancestral. Everything is handmade, in order to respect the materials and keep the authenticity which describes at best the Allot workshop. This tradition and this love of the profession attracted overseas customers (Middle-East, Russia). Since 2014, the company opened a showroom in the heart of Paris in order to meet clients’ expectations. The most sophisticated materials are carefully chosen in order to offer the customer the best quality possible. The furniture are then refined and elegant. Furthermore, History has always been an integral part of the world of cabinet-making and places itself like the central line of promotion of its brand. The Allot Workshop, thanks to its strengths, holds the key to success, which rests on a high positioning, a respect of the tradition, a top quality, a made-in-France, a strong history and a meticulous selection of the materials. The Allot workshop is involved to supply 100% made-in-France furniture. All the different materials (marble, bronze, locks) which compose the pieces of furniture come from France. Most of solid wood trunks are carefully prospected and selected in France.

The cabinets de curiosité were the forerunner of the Natural History museum. We are inspired by these atmospheres to design a big range of never seen accessories. Since 2001 we developed a wide range of decorative products with more than 650 references and around 1200 one-off pieces. Our atmospheres are full of technical lamps, green malachite, snake skeletons and antic French books. A mix of nature, culture and human creations, but with a XIXth century taste. Every item is carefully treated and worked by our specialized team, with made to measures display systems. The company’s team is constantly traveling around the world in search of unusual animals, plants and minerals, rendering their finds into pieces of exceptional cultural design. Of course, with a French touch style of presentation : we can help you to be unique. Objet de Curiosité makes something beautiful out of the extraordinary things nature has created. Come and enjoy the beauty of a 3.5 meter long Python skeleton : it’s an incredible network of white bones looking like lace.
