OTT over Satellite

SENTECH has been working on OTT over satellite, a solution enabling content, over any device, anywhere, anytime. Unlike the OTT over IP, it can reach users where there is no internet connectivity. ‘It will be possible to consume content whenever and however you want. But most importantly, we will rely on artificial intelligence to deliver personalised content and value add. Our platform will be pervasive and seamless to integrate all types of content providers,’ Booi explains.

Serious about customer-centric innovation

As with any sustainable change, it is an inside-out approach. SENTECH has adopted the entrepreneurial corporation identity it spoke about in 2019, requiring employees to think like entrepreneurs. The company has created platforms and opportunities for innovative ideas to be developed into customer-centric and competitive solutions. ‘SENTECH is not slowing down as it continues living up to its entrepreneurial spirit of finding innovative and sustainable solutions. Universal access to connectivity and digital content delivery to all South Africans is now a tangible vision,’ states Booi.

Venturing into the game zone

‘Game Zone Development has gained traction and SENTECH has taken the bold and exciting step of collaborating with Wits University’s Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, on a gaming incubation programme. The programme will refine the developer’s abilities and commercialise the gaming product they are developing,’ says Booi. The seven-member cohort, named Space Salad, has developed a game called “Doba Dash”. It is centred around protecting the environment, educating society on the importance of recycling, as well as respecting those who earn a living through collecting household waste. The game also provides insight on how communities can change their habits and perspectives on waste disposal. ‘I can’t contain my excitement, we’ve built a game!’ says Lesley Donna Williams, Tshimologong CEO.
