Royal & Derngate’s artist support programme

Generate proudly presents its fifth festival dedicated to supporting emerging and established artists. This November artists are invited to attend scratch performances, discussions, workshops, one-to-one support opportunities and networking sessions. Each scratch event will be followed by a Q&A session allowing audiences the opportunity to directly give feedback and support the future life of the work.

We are very proud to have developed this festival with direct input from independent artists and highlight some of the work by those on our Generate Associate Artists programme. Past artists have included Michaela Blackburn, Tristan Jackson-Pate, Chris Lowe and Georgia Tillery Randak.

Over 800 people saw performances and took part in events at GenFest 2022. Whether you are an artist working in the region, or you are interested in finding out more about how theatre is created, GenFest 2023 is the first place to see shows as they are created and get support with your career development.

‘EXHILARATING ENTERTAINMENT FROM SIX KILLER QUEENS’

‘SMART. SASSY. I’D GIVE THIS RIDICULOUSLY FUN MUSICAL SIX STARS IF I COULD’

Reigning on Broadway and in the West End, the international smash hit musical SIX is back by popular demand.

Winner of the 2022 Tony Award for ‘Best Original Score’ and ‘Best Costume Design’, double winners of the WhatsOnStage Award for ‘Best West End Show’ (2022/2023) and a Gold-Disk winning album, this sell-out Tudor take-off has ‘an incredibly strong and powerful message’ (The Australian) and is ‘pure entertainment’ (New York Times).

From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. These Queens may have green sleeves but their lipstick is rebellious red.

Think you know the rhyme, think again... Divorced. Beheaded. LIVE!
