ERIC WHITACRE Grammy award-winning American choral composer Eric Whitacre conducts an ethereal evening of his spine-tingling music. TCHAIKOVSKY GALA Experience the passion, magic and drama of Tchaikovsky in a concert brimming full with some of his most celebrated works, conducted by Permanent Associate Conductor Grzegorz Nowak. Featuring: Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, the incomparable Piano Concerto No.1, performed by the young and critically acclaimed Swiss-Canadian pianist Teo Gheorghiu, Eugene Onegin: Polonaise, exquisite extracts from the enormously popular The Nutcracker, and culminating with a thrilling 1812 Overture indoor firework finale.

PROKOFIEV & SIBELIUS 1 Principal Associate Conductor Alexander Shelley explores the music of Prokofiev and Sibelius, and is joined by British violinist Chloë Hanslip for an outstanding performance of Sibelius’ passionate Violin Concerto. Opening and closing the concert are two contrasting Prokofiev symphonies: his First Symphony is typically classical with a lyrical style and distinct in sound from his energetic and bustling Symphony No.3.

PROKOFIEV & SIBELIUS 2 Another exceptional concert from Alexander Shelley’s searching series, this time featuring Prokofiev’s rambunctious Piano Concerto No.5, performed by young and dynamic Ukrainian soloist Vadym Kholodenko. Closing this impressive programme is Sibelius’ energetic Symphony No.5. In his orchestral writing, Sibelius aimed to capture the whole world and with his seminal Fifth Symphony, he did just that. Not to be missed!

VERDI’s REQUIEM World-renowned Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko takes to the podium to conduct Verdi’s momentous score. With its stirring fanfares and lyrical vocal duets, combined with magical stillness and choral splendour, Verdi’s Requiem is something of a marvel.
