277. Harry Chapin Criteria Recording Studios Session Log Book from 1980–1981. Harry Chapin’s Criteria Recording Studios session log book binder from 1980–1981, 11 x 11.25, containing the engineer’s notes, performer and track information, and lyrics for some of his last recording sessions, which resulted in songs such as ‘Sequel,’ ‘Story of a Life,’ ‘I’ve Finally Found It, Sandy,’ ‘Old Salt and Pepper,’ ‘I Miss America,’ ‘Remember When the Music,’ and others. The binder is separated by tabbed dividers into sections dedicated to each song. In fine condition, with the three-ring mechanism detached from the binder. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Sandy Chapin, the widow of Harry Chapin, noting that this was the “only recording session where Harry had compiled such a detailed collection of notes.” Starting Bid $200

278. Beatles Signatures. Vintage circa 1963 signatures of the Beatles on a light green 4.5 x 3.5 album page: John Lennon has signed in red ink, George Harrison has signed in red ballpoint, and both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have signed in black ballpoint. The consignor notes that the autographs were obtained when the Beatles performed at the Swimming Baths in Doncaster, England on February 20, 1963. In fine condition, with trimmed edges and faint edge toning.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient: “This set of Beatles autographs was obtained on 20th February 1963 at St. James Baths, Doncaster. My grandfather was the manager of the baths and got all the visiting acts to sign his autograph books, including this set of Beatles signatures in different coloured pens on a green page from an autograph book.” Starting Bid $1000

280. Beatles: Paul McCartney Autograph Letter Signed Twice. Twice-signed ALS, “Paul, xxx” and “Paul McCartney,” one page, 6.5 x 8, August 25, 1963. Letter to admirer Ann Bennett, in full: “Thanks for your letter. Sorry this one won’t be as long as yours but we’ve got to go on stage soon. Anyway—thanks again.” In fine condition. Includes the original mailing envelope, the reverse of which McCartney has drawn an abridged version of the original Beatles logo, complete with two antennas popping out at the top of the “B.” This original logo was designed by McCartney and used by the Beatles in the early formative months of 1963. By the time McCartney had penned this letter, Ringo Starr had recently taken ownership of his Ludwig drum kit, complete with the new ‘drop T’ Beatles logo. Regardless, Paul has elected to draw his original design here; he would only do this on a select basis for a brief period in 1963.

Beatles ‘postcard’ photo of a young John Lennon in an upclose pose, 3.25 x 5.25, signed and inscribed in black ink, “To Lori love, John Lennon.” The lower left bears a preprinted facsimile signature. In fine condition. This Lennon portrait was captured during a Beatles photo session on June 20, 1963, by photographer Dezo Hoffman in his Wardour Street Studio in London.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter of provenance from the previous owner, who states that the autograph was obtained “outside John’s apartment in 1979.” The Tracks letter, dated to October 2020, in part: “Beatles-era photos signed by Lennon after having moved to New York are exceedingly scarce. Indeed, this is the first example we have seen. This is made all the more notable by the fact that it was signed in front of Lennon’s famed residence, the Dakota Building.” Starting Bid $500

Unusual left-handed Hofner ‘violin’ or ‘Cavern’ B-Bass HI-Series bass guitar finished with a print of the front cover to the Beatles landmark album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, signed nicely on the pearloid pickguard in black felt tip by Paul McCartney. In fine condition. Originally designed by Walter Hofner in 1955, the beautifully shaped ‘Beatle bass’ remains a highly sought-after piece of musical equipment, with this instrument enhanced furthermore by its influential signer and its entirely uncommon, highly displayable Sgt. Artwork titles art: ‘Woman in a Red Lion Pub,’ ‘Sunflowers,’ ‘Sunday Afternoon,’ ‘Fisherman,’ Sidewalk Cafe,’ and ‘Man on a Bridge.’ Each print is housed in its original folder and includes a certificate of authenticity from Washington Green Fine Art; the set is housed in its hard portfolio case. 293. Jimi Hendrix Signed Photograph. Exceptional vintage 4 x 5.75 cardstock promo photo produced especially for a one-off concert at the Sporthalle in Cologne, Germany, on January 13, 1969, prominently signed in black felt tip, “Jimi Hendrix.” Jimi did an in-store signing at the Du Monde Book & Record Shop in Germany on January 13, 1969, where he signed these promo card photos to promote his concert appearance later that evening at the Sporthalle. In very good to fine condition, with two tiny pin holes to the top, light overall creasing, and a central horizontal fold.
The autograph session at the Du Monde Book & Record Shop was the only in-store signing that Hendrix ever did—had it occurred in New York or London, it would have been absolute pandemonium. News footage of the event shows a relaxed atmosphere as he signs these special promotional cards for fans, with sketch artists also covering the event. Later that day, the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed a fantastic set that included ‘Foxy Lady,’ ‘Voodoo Child,’ and ‘Purple Haze.’ Starting Bid $1000

Issue of the UK fanzine The Armagideon Times, Number Two, 24 pages, 8.25 x 11.75, signed numerous times by the Clash in ink or felt tip on the covers and on the inside: Paul Simonon has signed the front and back covers and, on page 14, he has added his surname and small sketches of a reindeer and a plane dropping a bomb; Mick Jones has signed the back cover and added “GTR”; Joe Strummer has signed on the front cover and on page 7, adding “1980”; and Topper Headon has signed both the front and back covers.
