The question that comes up frequently is “am I taking too many nutritional supplements and doing harm to my body? Well, we know that when you use pharmaceuticals, drugs, or over the counter products they can have severe side effect and affect the function of the liver, kidney or other organs, when used excessively. Natural Remedies What about natural or nutritional supplement? We know or see many people taking a hand full of supplements daily. Is this a good thing or is it affecting their liver or producing unwanted side effects. When you take vitamins, minerals, natural remedies, or nutritional supplements they get into the blood, pass the liver, and then go to the kidney. It is here that the kidney will select what supplements and nutrients the body needs and reject the rest. The rejected ones go out your urine. The selected nutrients go back into the blood and are used throughout your body. It is interesting to know that the kidney also rejects toxins, since the body does not need them. It does not identify them like the liver does; it just rejects everything the body doesn’t need.
How Your Body Uses Supplements The body sees supplements as super charged food and goes about selecting what it needs. With natural food, which is processed in so many ways before it reaches the market and you, you can expect it to be deficient in its natural minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients. High amount of nutrients as supplied by supplements give the kidney a greater choice as to what to choose to help your body. This reduces the stress the kidney experiences as compared when you eat junk food and the kidney needs to work harder to find useful nutrients. In addition, since the body is getting its nutrients, the liver works less to find nutrients your actual body needs. Taking Excess Supplements Just remember, taking an excess of anything can create problems in your body. But this is less the case with nutritional supplements than it is with pharmaceuticals. When you take an excess of nutritional supplements, you could experience a stomach upset, slight fever, anxiety, headache, excess energy, or sleep disturbance, or other ill feelings. How To Take Many Supplements Your body will give you warnings so just listen, then back off on the amount of supplements that you are taking and enjoy the feelings that
these supplements give you. If you are taking more than 7 supplements per day, you need to modify your consumption. It is usually best to take 7 or less supplements a day. If you want to take more than 7, then alternate the days you take them. Separate the supplements into 3 parts and take 1/3 of them each day. So every 4th day you are taking the first 1/3 group of supplements. Give your body a chance to absorb them and not over dose on them.
