Newsletter Issue 6 October 2014

Every October is an important time for most students. In universities, students have worked hard for their mid-term exams. Likewise, those students who are in grade 12 also have studied hard preparing themselves for university lives. Whether it be in support of studies, or pursuit of dreams, RSUIP is ready to support and will always be on your side.

RSUIP

Exchange Students immersed themselves into Thai Culture at Nakhon Ratchasima Province RSUIP & ISC organized a Thai cultural trip for both Thai and foreign students to Nakhon Ratchasima province. The aim of this trip was not only to facilitate the cultural immerse and exchange, but also to provide volunteer work at Kudchanon School, Nakhon Ratchasima province, a school in a rural area. At Kudchanon School, RSUIP donated school supplies and sport equipment to the school and did some volunteer work e.g. teaching and playing games with local students in English. It was our honor to meet Phra Ajahn Jayasaro from Bahn Raitorsri, Amphoe Pak Chong, a famous and respected monk who gave our group some Dhamma talks together with a Q and A about Dhamma. We also went to Dan Kwain Pottery Village where RSUIP students learned Thai handcrafts by making traditional Thai pottery to keep as souvenirs. The group had a taste of local Thai foods such as Korat's stir fried noodles, Papaya hot and spicy salad (Som Tum), and other dishes. Although, 3 days 2 nights seemed a bit short, every minute we spent was full of impressive moments. RSUIP will make sure to update this great activity, and one will be arranged again in the future.
