After visiting Kyung Hee University, we had the opportunity to watch a drawing show. It was very entertaining as not only drawings were on display; there was other artistic talent as well. The artists did not use Korean or English to communicate instead they created their own language, which nobody could understand. The performance was accessible to people of all sexes, ages, and cultures and it was not restricted by language or nationality. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show, even now when we are back home in Thailand we still have fond memories of the drawing Show in South Korea.

Going abroad on an exchange program is a dream for many, Sirinad Tinawong a student from the Liberal Arts, Japanese Language Program made that dream come true! Bell received a scholarship for an exchange program to study in Monbukagakusho, Japan via the coordinator of International Service Center.
What is attractive in Japan that makes it interesting for exchange students?
I like the organization and planning in Japan. Japan’s culture is very interesting as they conserve their traditional cultural values, this is attractive for those who want to study Japanese, and it motivated me to study in Japan.
How do you improve your English and Japanese language skills?
I like languages, when I watch a movie I read the English subtitles or sometimes I leave the movie on in the background while doing something else so I can get used to the pronunciation. The heart of Japanese language is Kanji; however,
How did you prepare yourself for study in Japan?
First, I improved my Japanese language skills by reading then memorizing vocabulary and grammar. I also asked my friends studying in Japan about life there. For example, I was told how litter is separated in Japan and the procedure for taking a bus was explained to me.
What type of employment do you plan to pursue? interested in teaching. When I was younger, I never thought that I would want to teach, but after I tried it, I felt that the most important thing was not the knowledge that we have but the experiences that we gained. I decided to become a teacher because it is good to pass on our experience to others who are undecided about their future.
What would say to those who fear studying languages but are still interested in studying at the International College? when I visited some friends from abroad they told me that I should try to speak and that they would help me by correcting my mistakes. This encouraged me to speak more often. When I started to learn Japanese, I couldn’t communicate with Japanese people, I could only utter a few words not even a sentence. Then, I majored in Japanese but I still couldn’t communicate with is something we create, and fearing using languages to communicate is like caging your ability.
After listening to Bell’s, I believe that many will be courage to study languages and/or International College programs. It takes time and patience to learn a second or a third language. But If you try, success will certainly not be far away.
