Part One: Writings that Pertain To Books

The first part of my anthology will probably be the most bo ring. Don’t let that stop you from reading all of it, I have good points and opinions in this section and if you don’t agree, read on. Just because it’s boring doesn’t mean it’s not going to help get a better understanding of other peoples’ opinions and points on things. It might, it might not. Who cares? If you get past this part of my little book, then you will enjoy the rest of it.

The Two Days I am on my cruise ship with hundreds of people. It is sinking. People are jumping off. That is how bad it is. We sail on our rafts until we get to an island. Some boats got lost during storms. Some boats thought they could find civilization themselves. Well, they either got eaten or just haven’t found anything yet. All these people are trying to find where we are on their iPhones and Droids, but it is not working. They don’t have service or any Wi-Fi. The teenagers are going crazy not being able to get on Facebook, Twitter, or even worse Instagram. The ones that jumped off the ship, well, all we can say is rest in peace for them. There are a total of forty-four people in the end, seventeen years later. Twenty kids were born during our time here. All they know is how to live in the jungle. Most of the girls hunt and fish with the boys and the others make things we need like clothes, beds, huts, fire pits, and much more. One day, a little boy named Jack, said, “There is a big box floating on the water, a huge one!! What is it?” That was one of the last things said on that island. It took two days for us to leave that island. Those were our last days. The two days everything changed.

Standing above Everyone Else

Suppose you knew that everyone around you was thinking one way; the opposite of how you were thinking. Would you stand up for yourself and what you believe in? Or would you go along with the crowd? I would definitely stand up for what I believe in. I’m not like everyone else. I am different and I stand out and I make sure it happens. We had a discussion in my English class and it got me thinking. I said no one should be judged for their mistakes. When everyone was like their history makes them bad automatically. I don’t care what they have done. I am not going to judge them. Mistakes are mistakes for a reason. You learn from them.

The Change Up

I get the letter in the mail. I am going to be a juror for an “unmentionable crime”. I show up and meet the other jurors and they all tell me the case is horrible. The man did something no one has ever done. As we are sitting in the stands, they bring in the defendant. Yep. I thought right. I can see why they were quick to judge him. African American, tall, and strong, but I can see he hasn’t done this crime. The trial goes on and the jurors and I go to talk it over in the Jury Room. All think he is guilty, except for me. I tell them how he is not putting all the facts in order. I tell them how they shouldn’t judge anyone!!! I think that they should hear them out. He was found not guilty.

The Benefit

How should someone be accused of a crime? What is the difference between seeking justice and a desire to punish? Think about how we treat other people whom we suspect of doing something wrong. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and look at the story in every way possible. People shouldn’t be punished for a mistake and people shouldn’t be judged for a mistake. We learn from doing wrong, making mistakes, and only should we be punished in the right predicament. Do we really give them the benefit of the doubt, or do we act out of fear for our own safety?

Life in Your Hands

Is it ever possible to be completely objective, or unbiased about a decision? Don’t say no, because it is possible to be completely unbiased about a decision. Some people will judge or make their decision when they get a first look at the defendant. The trial might prove he/she is not guilty, but the person will say guilty just based on the first impression. Only a judgmental person would do that. That brings in their personal feelings about the matter. Being unbiased about a decision is the best way to go. They aren’t judgmental and give the defendant a chance. Knowing a life is in your hands is pretty scary. Ten of the men in our book are completely objective, but only two are unbiased. If you are ever a juror don’t bring your personal feelings into it. Be unbiased. Not everything is about you, you know.

Part Two: The “Collection”

This section has my writings about just random things. I really liked these writings and I didn’t have anywhere to put them, but I didn’t want to leave them out. So, I made a collection. I will refer to songs in this section and that is what inspired me or that is what I thought of when I wrote these. These writings are special and they are me. I am not like everyone else and they reflect it.

Just the Way He is His smile. When he sees me he smiles. That makes me smile and I can’t stop. His smile is amazing. His laugh. I could listen to it forever. It’s one of the things that keeps me going. His eyes. They are so beautiful. I get lost in them and I could look in them all day. His touch. “We touch, I feel a rush. It makes me wonder what is in store for us.” His voice. When he talks to me or sings to me I get butterflies in my stomach. Every time I see him I like him more and more. I would die if we got separated. I have come a long way since the last one and this time I truly think I got it right. When he holds me hand I am the most happiest person in the world. Why? Because I know my whole world is in my hand. I can’t live without him. Going one day not even seeing him makes me want to die. When I don’t see him I have absolutely no energy. He is what keeps me going. I can’t stand not being with him. His words. They mean so much to me. When he says he misses me, I miss him more. When he says I love you, I love him more. When he stares at me, I ask him what he is looking at and he says your beautiful blue eyes. Your smile, your beautiful face, I missed all of it. I feel like it is only me and him in the whole world. When someone asks if I am going somewhere I say yes we are. It’s me and him. He’s my attachment and I’m his. His song. He sings to me all the time. He will sing until I’m almost asleep, then he will tell me how much he loves me. I could listen to his song, him singing, until I die and I hope I do. He is an amazing singer. He could make millions of dollars, but he doesn’t. He stays. He stays with me when I’m in pain, when I am mad, or happy. His patience. I could be soo mad and yelling and at everyone and being a little drama queen and he still stays with me. He talks to me and he calms me down. He makes me smile. He brings me happiness.

Most Thankful

I’m most thankful for my family. I will be giving thanks or at least praying that my uncle will get home safe and that he will stay home. I will be giving thanks for all the good things that have happened and pray that the bad things get better. I’m thankful for God keeping Shawn safe and just yeah. The most thankful thing I am thankful for is him going to the Army to help me get stronger and learn how important things like family and friends are. And to help me find faith in them.

Softball I hear the crack of the bat and ball colliding. Pushing away from each other. I smell the fresh grass and chalked fields. Ready, to get destroyed. I feel the touch of the ball in my glove and the bat dropping after a hit. I can feel my heart pounding inside my chest And it’s like it’s running, too. I taste the grunginess of dirt in my mouth As I slide into the base. We seek the freshly mowed grass, Bases and fields chalked, And we know that it is fixing to be destroyed.

Abduction I didn’t know exactly where the train was going. After paying my fare, I simply stood on the platform waiting for it to whisk me away to somewhere, anywhere but here. And that is when it happened…. I was sitting in a crevice in between seats so he couldn’t see me. The announcer called out my train was coming. I got out of my spot only to stand in the light for a second. Someone bumps into me sending me into the person in front of me. I saw his face, I knew him from somewhere. He falls and the oncoming train hits him. It’s a sickening sound. As soon as his body hits the train, someone’s arm is around my neck. It squeezes harder until I’m out cold. I have a funny dream about the guy that was hit. I spent some of my life with him. Oh, crap. It was Tanner. The person has me locked in a room with another girl. Before I ask her where we are I hear other people scream and cry. Only then did I realize what this is. They’re beating people in the next room because they won’t get on an airplane. They kidnapped us to be over sea slaves. I remember now. I hear a whistling noise and it’s the window it’s cracked open. We can get out. The other girl and I walk across the roof and climb down the side of the building. Then, all chaos breaks loose.

The Boys of Fall As the boys come out of the tunnel, or stampede off the bus, you know a victory must be in their minds. Football might look easy, but really, it’s hard work that pays off in the end. Hard work means making a lot of memories. Some are really embarrassing like losing in one-on-one drills to someone or having your pants pulled down during a game. Some are epic, like Trenton Harris throwing a deep pass to Ty Bohannan for a touchdown, or Ishmel Samuels stealing the ball while the other team was trying to give it to their quarterback. Our very last eighth grade game against Harrison on the way back to Huntsville, the three managers put make-up on four of the boys. Brenna Brasel’s favorite moment was when the seventh graders had, at the final buzzer, beaten Harrison, because Harrison had beaten them before. Victory at last! When you hear the final buzzer for the last game of the season and you look at the scoreboard, you see that your team has won. That is the best memory that could be made.

Part Three: The Hero

There is one person I look up to most in my life. It is my uncle. He is like a dad to me, but I don’t get to see him that often. Why? Well, he is an E5 Sergeant in the U.S Army. He is stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. I write about him all the time and he is just too special to leave out of a book of my life.

~16~

My Inspiration My uncle is my inspiration to live every day to the fullest. He is a Sergeant for the U.S Army and is moving to Fort Riley in Kansas. I only get to see him twice a year, but I know it is for a good cause. I hate never getting to spend time with him, but I know he will always come home.

Our Symbol I would, we would, represent and symbolize strength because that is my life. You have to be strong and focused to play sports. You have to be strong to see a family member go off and give up their life for the war. You have to be strong knowing that they might not come back. You have to be strong n=enough to fight things and still be able to defeat. I have to be strong. Being strong is one of the most important things to me. My kind of strong isn’t just being able to life heavy things, it is being able to put up with different and certain things. You have to be able to get up and put a smile on my face no matter what happens. I have to be strong knowing that he will come home, but just not knowing how or what form he will come home in. that is what scared me most.

Not Knowing.. Less than two months. That’s it. A lot could happen in those two months though. He could get deployed (sent overseas) and I could never see him again. You don’t know how truly scary it is until you actually witness it and feel the pain of losing. Losing the one you look up to is unbearable. You might think no one goes through that, but guess what? They do, I do. They go through it every day and I go through it every day . Pain is weakness leaving the body. I think I will run out of weakness with all the pain I have and go thought every day.

Hope. It is the only thing Stronger than Fear. He shoots and runs from people that want to kill him. Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. They aren’t fighting to stay alive they are fighting for their country. The soldiers train, then, they are sent off overseas. You think from the movies you watch oh, it can’t be that bad and heartbreaking. They die, I get freedom. Well, it might not be that way to you, but to the soldiers’ families it is.

Destruction

The phone is ringing calling him to fight. Fight is what scares me, but he goes any way. Way too close to havoc. Havoc is what his family worries about most. I have learned strength. Strength is all I need. I need him. He needs to come home. Home is where he needs to be. It drives me crazy, the silence. Silence isn’t what he heard. He heard the bombs. Bombs going off all around his bunker. His bunker was the last thing he saw before the explosion.
