Acknowledgement I am grateful to my mom, Trina Cousins, for helping me though this and everything else she does for me. I am also grateful for all my true friends who give me inspiration every day and all my English teachers who have taught me how to spell and write.

Biographical sketch In my collection of writings, there are three different types of writings. Each unit reflects on my writing skills and thoughts. Each or these writings were made in class. In Unit 1 are happy and silly writings. In this unit I use my imagination and happy thoughts. The happy and silly unit is very funny. In this unit, I hope you smile and have a few laughs whil e reading it. Using your imagination is a very big key to writing. In Unit 2 are mutual writings. This unit isn’t really happy and isn’t really sad. The mutual writings are more realistic, bur still have meaning to them. It is important to remember that not all writings should be happy or sad. This unit doesn’t only talk or stories, but also of life. In Unit 3 are sad writings. Some people try to forget all the sadness and others just accept it. I try not to write about sadness very much, because let’s face it, it’s sad, but sometimes it is good to write sad stories. Most people don’t like reading sad writings, bur sad writings bring you to reality and not only happy all the time. Sadness is part of life and a part of this book.

Unit 1 5
My Happy Place As I run through a field of flowers, I smell sweet roses blooming and springing to the sky. The trees sway as music flows through the river. A fish swiftly leaps from the water and for a slight second, is flying, but eventually plops back down to its home. I lie in the tall grass and watch as the clouds change form. I listen as a bird flies above the trees, singing a little hum. This is where I like to be, this is my true home, and this is my happy place.

Chuck and frank One day a hobo, named Frank, decided he wanted a majestic pet unicorn, so he jumped on his baby hippo, Frank, and together they went all the way to Magic Street, a faraway place. They looked everywhere for the Unicorn but all they could find were houses and cars. So as they left, Frank read a sign that said, “Maggie Street.” They were in the wrong place! Frank got so sad and told Chuck to take him to a place where nobody could e ver find them, while he slept. Chuck knew exactly what to do, Chuck started flying up into the sky and fell o n a cloud. When Chuck fell on the cloud, Frank woke from his sleep. Frank thought he was still dreaming, but he wasn’t. Frank jumped up and down with excitement and joy. When Chuck started talking, Frank got even happier and a little confused too. Frank an d Chuck were so happy that they could finally talk to each other that they built a house up on the clouds and lived there the rest of their life. Chuck and Frank had a unending friendship.

Llama or Duck “I didn’t know exactly where the train was going. After paying my fare, I simply stood on the platform waiting for it to whisk me away to somewhere, anywhere but here. And that’s when it happened…” Everyone disappeared and liquid cheese started to surround me, it was everywhere. I screamed, but it was no use, nobody could hear me. The cheese crept closer and closer and had spread all the way to my feet. I was about to give up, when a llama with bright white fur appeared out of a shimmering portal. Somehow I understood the llama and knew exactly what it was saying. The llama then told me to stay still and calm, so I listened and did as I was told. Then the llama jumped over all the cheese somehow and put me on its back. I was surprised that when the llama got me out of the train station, that nobody wa s anywhere to be found and that there was cheese everywhere out there too. The llama told me that an evil cheese had broken out and there is only one safe place. The llama said that I would have to close my eyes and trust it, so I did. The next thing I kno w, I’m in a pleasant place with a soft shimmer. When I looked around, I saw that the place was filled with llamas and ducks. The llama somehow transformed into a person and told me his name was Koda and that the only way to stay safe from the cheese is to me in the form of a llama or duck. So I had to choose if I wanted to be a llama or a duck.

Books I’m not much into reading books, I try but none really get me interested and wanting to know what’s going to happen next, until I found The Immortal Series. I have every book in the series, except for the last book, Everlasting. There are six books in the series and I find every single one so unique and inspiring. There is always a twist and turn on every page. At one second you may be ruling for someone, but the next for someone else. In these novels, you will find adventure, romance, heartbreak, mystery, supernatural, and drama. This series is so unique; it’s like a breath of fresh air. When I pick up the novel, I never want to put it done. I usually don’t make my book deadlines, but I have been making every one and enjoying it at the same time. I can’t believe that there is no more books in the series, but now I’m moving on to the main character in The Immortal Series sister’s books, The Riley Bloom Series. I love these books

Home I sit on the side of the road wondering when I will just give in and go home. I look across the road and see a guy yelling at his girlfriend, she shrinks away and he slams the door. I guess there goes another broken heart. I listen to the cars going by and I wish I had just stayed home. I know my mother is probably worried sick but I needed some space. I walk to my house and see my mom through the window; she is crying and talking on the phone. I slowly walk up to the door and I open the door. I try to stay calm but the second I see my mom, I run up to her and I am embraced with a hug. This is my home and I never want to leave it.

Unit 2 11
Izzy Changes There was a girl named Izzy, Izzy was made fun of a lot. Until one day when she couldn’t take it anymore. Everyone at school would make fun of Izzy every day and nobody would try to stop it. Izzy had glasses, dark brown hair, and her mom dressed her for school. Izzy had a sweet heart and was very quiet. The teacher would call roll and when she called out Izzy’s name, everyone would yell rude comments. Well one day Izzy was done with everyone being rude. She went home the next day and cut her hair, dyed it black, and bought new clothes. Izzy painted her nails a beautiful violet and got contacts. When she arrived at school the next day, everyone was talking about her, but for once, it wasn’t mean. Nobody recognized her. Izzy went to class and sat in her normal seat. The teacher, Mrs. Willows, began to call roll and when she got to Izzy’s name, everyone said she wasn’t there. Izzy jumped out of her seat and said that in fact she was there. Everyone froze, even the Mrs. Willows. After class everyone ran up to Izzy and asked her what was going on , but Izzy had not forgiven them for how they had treated her so she just walked away. The next day she came back to school and nobody said anything when Mrs. Willows called her name during roll, but they had just picked a new prisoner and started on with the rude remarks when Mrs. Willows called Cameron’s name. After class a boy named Leon, was bullying Cameron, so Izzy walked up to him and yell at him. Leon turned around and just blankly stared at her, so in shock that a girl had just yelled at him, but it didn’t last long and he turned around again and was back to bullying. Leon pulled his fist back, ready to punch Cameron, but right when he was about to swing, Izzy grabbed his arm. By this time, everyone was watching…

Adalina’s Short Story A young girl named Adalina loved to dance and play soccer. She was always known as one of the most active kids, because she dances, plays soccer, does volleyball, played basketball, does tumble, and cross country. Adalina was almost 14 and had a very busy life and she kept her grades up. Adalina put her heart and soul into dance, soccer, friends, and family. One day Adalina was running and she hurt her foot. She went to the doctor about her foot and it turned out that she had a foot deformity, which meant that one of her bones sticks up more than its supposed to. Adalina had to sit out of her sports and activities because of her foot, she didn’t want to try to do stuff and make it worse. Everyone thought she was lying about her foot except for her true friends and her family. Adalina would try to support her teams by going to the games and cheering them on, but people in cross country and basketball still talked bad about her. After a while of waiting, her foot began to feel better, but it would still bruise easily. Adalina could finally go back to her sports, but she will never forget who stood by her and who didn’t.

Masks We wear a mask every day. People don’t realize it but from the time we wake up to the time we go to sleep, we wear a mask. People wear face paint to parties or for events like football, basketball, baseball, and soccer. People wear face paint to cheer on a team and to support their favorite team. We wear masks on Halloween, people wear the masks so nobody will know who they are and they can go around getting candy. We wear masks when we wear makeup. People wear makeup to hide their face, because they are afraid of what others will think of them. Everyone wears a mask every day, because when you wake up, you smile even if you feel like crying. We wear a mask every day.

Growing Up When I grow up, I want to be a dancer or a dance teacher. I have a lot to learn about dance still, but that’s what I live for. Growing up is scary and hard, but it is also fun at times. You learn new things the older you get and you get to do more, but that also means more responsibility.
15
School Responsibility Schools have lots of responsibilities, like to feed the students every day and stuff like that. Schools have the responsibility to make sure the students stay on campus and do what they are told. The school must make sure the students are fed, because a student has trouble going without food for the whole day at school. Some kids have it bad at home and don’t have the money for food at home. The school is to make sure that each and every student is on campus, because some kids try to skip or not go to school. Some kids skip school and never get anything done so it is the schools responsibility to check roll and keep track of where the students are going. The school has lots of responsibilities that go even farther than this.
16
Focus I sit at my desk and try to focus on my school work, but everything is buzzing to get my attention. I know I must focus but why must it be so hard? My pencil seems to weave itself out of my fingers and my foot continues to uncontrollably tap. The time is ticking away and my mind seems to be doing the same. I struggle to keep myself from looking the other way, but I cannot keep myself from wondering. I try to tell myself to focus and work, but my brain just won’t work. The teach tells the class that we have 20minutes left of class and that’s when my focus shifts into gear.
17
If I was a Symbol If I was a symbol, I would symbolize activeness. I would symbolize activeness because I am very active. I do many sports, like dance, soccer, cross country, tumble, and volleyball. I am never at rest; I’m always on the go. I don’t have time for TV and games. The little time when I’m not busy or have chores, I go outside and play with my dog of I’m with the family. I may not be the best at a sport, but I give it my all and push myself to be better. Sports are my life and when I’m older, I want to be a dancer or a dance teacher. When I’m tired, I push myself to keep going and I love to help others when they need a boost. If I was a symbol, I would symbolize activeness.

Unit 3 19
Stray I have no clue what the world has come to… I am a homeless dog, you can call me stray. I was a pup when it all started. I was with my family, just bathing in the creek when a huge angry cow ran at us. I got separated from my family and ever since then, things have only got worse. My life got straightened out for a while but it didn’t last long. I found an old dirt road and started walking on it, after the whole thing with the cow was over. After a while, a family car drove by and they stopped beside me and a little girl with pig-tails jumped out of the car and picked me up. I guess I fell asleep, because I wake up on the girls lap with a blanket on me. I grew older with them and they were my home until they didn’t want me anymore. Now I’m a stray living by myself.

The Thing I open my eyes and hope it was all just a dream, but knowing deep down that it was real‌ I jump up to my feet from the bitter ground and sweep the dust off my clothes. Carefully I swing the door open hoping it will make no sound, but to my luck a loud noise sounding like a screech comes from the door. In astonishment, it is mid-day outside, but that doesn’t help me any. Because of the daylight, I now have no darkness to slip into to run from the thing. I try to run to the shadows of a tree but it is too late, the thing has already saw me, has already got me. The thing is something you cannot escape from, he lives inside you, he is part of you, you are the thing.

Be careful what you wish for I lay in a field of grass and flowers, staring up at the stars, wishing I could be somewhere else. I doze off and when I wake, it is still night. Something is different but I can’t tell what until it is so obvious. I get up and walk to a strange house that I don’t recall seeing earlier, but when I knock and nobody answers, I walk right in. As I step through the door a small creature walks up to me and says “hi.” I was so confused that I almost ran screaming. Finally after a while of me just standing there blank faced, it told me that I made my wish when he was straight above me, so he felt bad for me and granted my wish, to be somewhere else. He also told me that he brought me to live with him and his family for now on and that there was no way for me to go back home. I immediately wished I was home, but knew it was impossible. I go outside and stare at my home planet wishing I was there and wishing I had never wished to be away from such a brilliant place. Be careful what you wish for!
