Dedication Page
I would like to dedicate my anthology project book called, “The Inside Scoop to Savanah Gibson’s Mind,” to my mom and Ms. Sullivan. First, I would like to acknowledge my mother. She has always inspired me to do my best in everything. She helps me with everything and she won’t ever let me give up on my goals. Secondly I would like to dedicate my anthology to Ms. Sullivan. She has improved my reading skills and writing skills. She has also helped me understand words I didn’t even know existed. Lastly, I would also like to thank my sister for telling me I can do anything I set my mind to. I also wanted to thank God for always being there for me, and being my inspiration.

Part 1: A Different Side of Me
This collection of literary pieces is about my personal experiences. Also included in this anthology section is her personal opinion about some matters. In these written pieces what inspired me most was that people need advice sometimes. When they need a piece of advice and they’re down in the dumps, this is what that is mainly for. Even when people say they don’t need advice, they do. Everyone does at one time or another. Also, this shows my serious side, the one that people don’t see very often.

A Hit Out of This World The score was six to four, and my team was down by two. There were two strikes; I’m on second, Julia is on third, and Holly is on first. If we win this game then we win the tournament! Kat was up to bat, and you could tell she was nervous by the way the bat shaked. Kat is a great hitter so I don’t know why she was so nervous. The pitcher starts he wind up, with her mind on the prize. She releases the ball in the nick of time to send a perfect pitch hurdling toward Kat. She swings and right when we thought she missed our only shot at victory; she made contact with the ball. That metallic Thwack as the ball hits the bat was like a battle cry. I watch it as it sails past me and past the outfielder to the fence. I’m running like none other, like it’s the race of my life. Julia is running in front of me, Holly behind me, and Kat bringing up the rear. Julia made it home, then me, then Holly. Right when Kat was approaching home she slides. As the dirt cleared, all I heard was the umpire say, “SAFE!” Yes! We did it! State Champions, I ran out to Kat and tackled her.

A great idea “We have a situation here,” stated Lucy. “Come on guys! Think, use your imagination!” As all the girls began to think, Casey kept getting distracted by the song that she couldn’t get out of her head. “Iyiyi” by Cody Simpson was stuck on replay, like a broken record. “Ha! I’ve got it!” exclaimed Amanda. “Ohh! This should be good, because you ALWAYS come up with the greatest ideas,” quirked Jennifer while rolling her eyes. “How about we decorate the float up as Eagle and have students make a cannon and shoot candy out!” Amanda said, unfazed. They worked long and hard for six weeks, working off that one idea. It was complete with a week to spare. The float was ready for the homecoming parade. It was going to be great, and all the kids will vote for ours to be the best class float.

Advice from a teen -Life will have its ups and downs, but just remember that it’s not always as bad as it seemsDon’t be afraid to grow up. It may seem all horrible and scary, but trust me it isn’t so bad. Growing up is all part of life, and just one of the many things you will have to concur. There are a ton more of responsibilities than there is when you are littler. You can’t say this is too hard, and throw in the towel. You have to see it thorough to the end. Even if it seems like it’s impossible to accomplish, it’s not. Just have faith and believe you can do it. You also have to love a support your family in all they do, and they will love and support you. They will have your back until the end and if it’s not your family; it’s your friends. Just remember my favorite saying, “Look up, Get up, And never give up.”

Do you wear masks? Q.) What masks do we/you wear? Why do we wear these masks? A.) Masks are comfort. They hide what’s inside like a guard. Some people wear them to hide who they really are. They wear them to fit in, and to feel wanted. I know that I wear them a lot, more than I should, because being yourself is not “in” or “cool.” Everybody wants to be popular. Or want to fit in, in a group or “click.” I use to feel that way, but now I know an original is ALWAYS better than a copy. Do you know that God made all of us in his own perfect image? Why would you want to mess with perfection? You wouldn’t, it’s as simple as that. Some kids, on the other hand, don’t see it like that. They seek comfort from whatever lies before them. They feel like if they have the right clothes, if they’re popular, and if they look pretty or beautiful that they’re life would be complete. But are they you complete or full with all of those things that don’t really matter?
9
Why do people choose to join groups? People choose to join groups because they feel more comfortable when they are not in charge and they follow anyone else who is. They don’t like being alone or not in a group. In order to feel more comfortable they join, and that is much better than being by their selves. Maybe it’s also because that person’s group shares the same beliefs as you do so you join them. People tend to lean more towards being a follower so they don’t have to make hard decisions. Some people also like to relax and let other people make the hardest decisions for them.

Part 2: Complete Randomness This collection of literary pieces is about my mind. It’s a mix between a dash of crazy and a hint of crazy. Mostly this piece contains just complete random outburst. Mainly what this section is about how I was feeling that day‌ I could be depressed, happy, or even mad. What inspired me what to write in this section was just basically, what ever my mind was that day.

Stranded I was stranded on this island all by myself. To be completely honest, I was terrified. Not knowing if I was going to live to see tomorrow. I can’t believe the Captain just dropped me off here to fend for myself. I had concerns about how much our ship could hold in its cargo compartment. After all, there was a weight limit and we were defiantly succeeding it. So I express my dilemma to Captain Kirk he didn’t believe me and said I was bluffing. That nothing could go wrong because this was the “Titanic.” It was built to withstand everything, and anything. No one believed me and trusted me I tried to get them to believe. I was causing such a panic that he had no choice but to leave me stranded on this island. As it turns out, I could actually survive here. Who would of thought? I certainly didn’t believe it myself. In order to survive, I needed to find food and water. Also I needed to build a shelter. As I was on the hunt for some food, I saw a ship in its passing. I started hollering and waving my arms like a wild man. They saw me on the shore looking all beat up and ragged. I was saved. When I entered on that ship, they told me that the Titanic had sunk because it ran into an ice burg because they didn’t turn fast enough due to all the weight. As I heard that bit of information, I thought to myself, they should of listen to me. Now they’re dead. But I could have tried
harder. No one listens to a cargo compartment worker.

The Truth within I would be on posters saying, “Savanah the Great.” My face everywhere, with so many people looking and following me. I would represent peace, love, and compassion. I would stand against wars, and for those who need me. I believe that the only option we have is in Jesus and though him. Jesus IS kind, loving and compassionate; he is my role model. You may think that, I being a super hero, I would look up to myself. As all super heroes do, but no I look up to someone also. Jesus is my one and only inspiration. We all believe that popularity is the best thing to have, or to be in the “In crowd.” But I think that we all miss this point, if we please Jesus, then we have nothing to worry about.

A Star Was Born I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Here I was, cheering on my best friend Julia, at her basketball game. What better way could you possibly spend the afternoon? Julia is on fire! How could one person possibly play so well? She’s zipping up and down the court at warp speed. I haven’t ever seen her run so fast. She is like a cheetah sprinting after its kill. Her team started off by crushing their opponents, and then they slowly crept up. The score is now thirty to thirty, with ten seconds remaining on the clock. If they took this win, then they would be the state champions. Then they would continue on to worlds. They pass Julia the ball, and with adrenaline pumping she fakes out one player. Then she brings her momentum to a stop, causing the person guarding her to trip. There, she’s open finally. With five seconds ticking down she shoots a three, and the buzzer goes off. She made it, and she got fouled! She steps up to the free throw line and sinks it. She helped them win the State Championship! She got to vote of MVP.

Survivors The time was the early 1900’s, and I was living in Africa. Our culture is very unique. I live in the southern part, in a shack. My job is simple enough; cook, clean, and laundry. If you haven’t already guessed what I am, I’m a mother, sister, daughter, and wife. It sometimes gets very boring so I play games when I do my chores. Count how many birds I see when I’m outside folding laundry, or what color is most attracting to the animal’s eyes. I have a surprise brewing in the midst of my mind. I’m going to make my famous squirrel soup. I don’t make it very often, but I have enough supplies to make it this time. ---- I have chosen this time and this place for many reasons. I am very interested in their way of living and how they survive day to day. How they thrived, and how they got through their tough times. They got through the harshest weather and the toughest times. They are survivors.

Blackout The storms shook the houses surrounding mine. I could feel the energy of the hurricane and as the houses around mine collapse. Is our house next? How will we survive? The electricity keeps flickering on and off. How will we stay warm? I can feel my body’s temperature slowly decreasing. The waves come crashing minutes later. Our house has been lifted off of its hinges. Where will we end up? I’m terrified. As Mother Nature has a tantrum, we start to slowly sink under the water. How will we swim in this? The windows give in with an eerie creek. The doors burst open. As the water sweeps towards me in a powerful gust I say one last prayer and take a deep breath. The water engulfs me. I can’t hold my breath anymore, and my lungs start to slowly start to fill up with water. My life flashes before my eyes and then the lights go out.

Part 3: Fantasy Worlds This collection of literary pieces is all about fantasies. I love to read about vampires, werewolves, and the powerful also other mystical creatures. So of course my favorite thing to do is to write about them and make stories about them. At the end of this section I have written some of a book I want to finish someday. It is mainly about a girl named Robin who runs away from home in hopes of a better future. I have started writing a pretty long paragraph about what happened to Number One through Three on the series “I Am Number Four. I would like to thank Pitticus Lore for inspiring me to write about his books. I am not finished yet as you will find out when you read it.

A Girl Named Kali My name is Kali, and here is how my perfect life completely turned upside down. –I live on the west coast of Florida and no one knows about the storm. Waves over seven feet tall and I’m the only one who knows about the hurricane approaching us slowly but surely. How am I supposed to go to school and act normal like nothing is happening? I know, I’m not normal, I can see into the future. The storm won’t come until two weeks. I’ve tried telling my mom, my dad, and my boyfriend. They just nod their head and smile I know what they’re thinking. They think I’m crazy, that I’m making this up to get attention. Why would I do that? That’s what they don’t understand. No one understands me. I have never lied, ever. Why won’t they believe me? I started noticing that the things I saw came true when I saw my dog, Oscar, get run over by a bus. I have to get someone to believe me before it’s to late I want to save as many people as I can, but how? And who will believe a girl who everyone has thought gone off the lose end?

Crazy Things Oh. My. Gosh. I can’t stand this place, it’s like a prison. Ha! They think I’m crazy, and I don’t know why they would think that. I mean I can’t help getting a thrill from starting fires and harming animals… I’m right, right? I keep telling them that I’m not crazy and they need to get their stories straight, and they responded by putting me in a padded room. It’s actually kind of strange. They also gave me this jacket that winds my arms tightly around me. I’m afraid that there’s no escape. You know, I wasn’t always like this, or so they tell me. I use to be… What’s that word? Oh! Right, sane. This all started after the plane crash. They said I wasn’t supposed to survive. That is was a miracle that I even did; but I didn’t return the same after that crash. They keep telling me not to harm myself, but I don’t even try so why do they say that? My name is Jimmy Newberry, and I’m located in the middle of nowhere.

What’s it like Being Different? Inside Scoop -- Stacey wasn’t as ordinary as everyone thought. In fact she was born on the planet Cantron. Her village was destroyed, and her parents sent her to the planet Earth. She is 217 which is equivalent to 18 in Earth years. – I popped up here. How did I get here? It seems that I have lost my memory… Where exactly is here? “Excuse me sir, but where am I?” I ask to a by stander. He is pretty cute… Can I entice people here, as I can in Cantron? “You are in New York,” he said that as he winked at me. He’s kind of strange they don’t grow kids here as well as they do in Cantron. He is not very meaty and seems to be very scrawny, but strong in his own way. “Thank you,” I say as I turn away. “Wait!” He calls after me. That’s when I make the mistake. I look into his eyes. Something just clicked. I think I paired with him. This can’t be happening. I look around me, panicked. “Hey, are you okay? You look lost” He states, genially concerned. “I… I… I think I need to sit,” my voice says shakily. I can’t pair with a stranger. Why is he still here? He must be worried. In the blink of an eye, I wake up. Sweat is pouring off of me like a waterfall. A nightmare, just a nightmare, or was it?

Weird Orbit I look all around me, and all I can spot in my vision is cows eating grass on the horizon. Is this really happening? I’m kind of terrified to be honest actually. This looks a lot like Jared’s mind, oh gosh. All it needs is a floating sandwich, what? Where in the world did that come from? Okay, yeah, this is defiantly Jared’s mind. “Mwhahaha! The place you seek is not here, but where?” I hear a deembodied voice, the one of Jared. Of course a riddle, why am I even surprised? It’s so Jared. “Where are you?” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I was horrified and will forever be traumatized by this experience of what is Jared.

The Train Fare I didn’t know exactly where the train was going. After paying the fare, I simply stood on the platform waiting for that train to whisk me away to somewhere, anywhere but here. And that’s when it happened. I hear the roar of the train as its engine blasts past me coming slowly to a stop. And I stood there waiting, until those plain metal doors opened up promising me my escape from this horrible place that possesses so many horrific memories. No more worries of the things unknown, and no more worries of the things that lie before me. With thoughts of happiness and joy, I stepped onto that train. I didn’t bring much, just my backpack filled with food, spare clothes, my box that contains things unknown to me, and some money I’ve managed to save up over the course of a few years. When I sat down in the back, I pulled up my hood and stared out the window. I thought of everything I was leaving behind and never returning to; my family, my friends, and my beloved boyfriend Alec. I wasn’t very excited, trust me. I tell anyone where I was going nor that I was even leaving because I didn’t want then to fine me and get mixed up in all of this. The choice to leave wasn’t mine, if it was I would stay. But as I said, it wasn’t mine to make. I am only eighteen. I have powers, and I am Number One. My home planet has been invaded and destroyed only some of us escape in time. My real family, however, wasn’t fortunate enough. I will be the first of the Nine to die. My powers are still unknown to me. So they won’t be very much help to me in the race for my life. They found us again, and killed my protector, Alexia. I am all alone now. This was the fifth time they had found us. For Alexia, that was her last. When will my last day come? I am so scared. I am tired of running but I can’t fail my planet, Alexia, and my family. We were brought here on a ship; it took months to reach Earth. All eighteen of us; the nine who contain powers and our protectors were the only survivors. We stepped off that air craft, went separate directions, and never looked backed. I’m lost with only one goal; to stay alive.

One Wish
Chapter 1: The Note Guhh, I hate living in a foster home, and being the oldest. There are so many responsibilities; look after the little ones, cook, clean, and I’m just tired of it all. There is one thing, and one thing that I want, and that is a real home. No foster parents pretending they love me, or fights between “siblings.” No more foster homes or moving from place to place being forced to change schools repeatedly. At the age of 17, it is extremely hard to be adopted. Everybody wants to new born babies, no one wants the teenagers. “Robin! Get in here now!” calls Holly, my foster mom. “Coming,” I reply, reluctantly leaving the comforts of my room to do whatever stupid chore Holly wants me to do now. As I enter into the kitchen, I find it in a mess. “Ugh.” I groan “I want you to clean everything spotless. Jimmy messed everything up” “Yes ma’am,” I politely addressed her. She smiled and walked off. Why me? Why can’t the kids clean everyone once I a while and give me a break so I can relax? I have lots of complaints and they keep rambling off and on in my head until I notice e a note addressed to me. This is super strange, I just cleaned there and I turned my back and now there is a note there? What? How could I of missed that? I pick it up and start to read it; Dear Robin, We think you would be a perfect fit in our family. Would you like to join us? If you do, then go to this address and we will meet you there. 8657 Carroll 2352 Gretta Drive AR. With lots of love, Your future family<3 My heart has stopped. Someone wants me? I quickly sprint upstairs to the supply closet where we keep all of our suitcases; I get the biggest one. I head to my room and pull out my dresser doors and start piling my clothes into the suitcase. I’m not going to leave anything behind. *** My suit case it stuffed, and it seems like it might explode. I can barely lift it, good thing it has— “Robin! Open up! You didn’t finish cleaning.” I can even hear the smirk on Jimmy’s face as he says that. I knew he did that on purpose! That little bugger! I hear the door knob start its rotation, and I leap across the room in the nick of time to catch to door. I slide the bolt into place, securing the door. I quickly grab my backpack and my suit case, and right when I was about to jump out of the window, I remembered something. How could I of forgot my money?!? I go to my desk where I keep my stash of money, and reach under the desk and feel that envelope. I peel off the tape and stick it in my bag. Last time I counted the money I had about 6,155 in there. I’m hoping it’s all there, and with that thought I jumped out of that window and with the rest of my belongings I headed to a better future. Life in a real home; I couldn’t wait.
Chapter 2: Searching I wonder what they are doing back at Holly’s. Are they searching for me? Do they even notice that I’m gone? It will be different not cleaning up after Jimmy, I know it will. After all, I had been living there for about one-and-a-half years now. The longest I’ve stayed anywhere. Jimmy is the one I am going to miss the most. He was the closest thing I’ve ever had to a brother. As I walk worrying about Jimmy and how he’s going to go on without me, I don’t worry about what lies ahead of me. I should have. I missed that gangbanger ahead, and now he’s headed towards me. So I start to head for “Glams and Jams,” a mall I’ve heard about. There are a lot of people there and he wouldn’t be stupid enough to do anything to me when there are witnesses. Would he? I would hope not. I hate 23
walking in the city, so many creeps and weirdoes. “Hey pretty lady, did you run away from home?” He says as I approach him. I past him and I walk fast, and I am starting to get really scared. I speed up towards the mall and I hear his footsteps pick up pace to keep up with mine. After a couple of minutes of this, I hear him start to run. I started to run also, when all of a sudden, poof. I look back because I no longer hear his footsteps on the asphalt. He’s gone? What? How did that happen? He disappeared, out of thin air. Kind of like magic almost.
