HYGGE

Hygge [ˈhyɡ̊ə]

THERE IS ONLY ONE WORD that comes to mind that can describe this event. And that Word is HYGGE (pronounced "hoo-gah") But remember, hygge isn't just a word; it's a concept

Hygge didn't originate in the Danish language but in old Norwegian, which meant something like "well-being." It fi rst appeared in Danish writing around the end of the 18th century, and the Danes have embraced it ever since. One good thing about hygge is that you can apply it anywhere. Danes allocate it generously to everything commonplace, as you will surely fi nd out on your visit to Denmark.

FACTS

Denmark as a nation dates back to the Viking Age, and today the population of 5,8m people have been considered among the happiest countries in the world. Why not come experience this fi rst hand at the RTI World Meeting 2022?.

DENMARK

Danmark [ˈd̥ænmɑɡ̊]

DENMARK IS THE southernmost country in Scandinavia, sharing a border with Northern Germany. Denmark is surrounded by the ocean. The many islands in Danish waters give it a very long coastline of 8,750 Kilometers. Nowhere in Denmark are you more than 52 KM from the sea.

Denmark is organised as a Monarchy. The political system is set up around the "Grundloven af 1849" – the law of laws in Denmark – the constitution, if you will. Other than Denmark, the Unity of the Realm consists of Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Both Greenland and The Faroe Islands have their own sovereignty and their own governments, but they are both under the Danish constitution.

Denmark is also very well known for its design, designers and companies, of which we can mention Arne Jacobsen, who did the beautiful furniture and Henning Poulsen, who did the world-famous PH lamps, and the latest addition to this is the world-famous architect, Bjarke Ingels and his BIG Group. Among the large, International companies are LEGO, Vestas, Maersk and Danfoss.

COPENHAGEN

København [kʰøb̥m̩ˈhɑwˀn]

COPENHAGEN IS PLACED in the heart of the Nordic region. With our infrastructure, you can cross the entire county from east to west in less than 4 hours. Copenhagen offers all the options of any capital; combined with the Dane's unique style of hospitality, tabling and friendship, you will feel welcomed anywhere you go. Denmark also offers a multicultural food experience, not to forget that they also serve probably the best beer in the world.

Originally a Viking fishing village established in the 10th century in the vicinity of what is now Gammel Strand, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. Copenhagen has a long history well integrated with today's modern life. Thanks to yesterday's and today's immigration, the city is a multicultural centre. A fact that contributes to Copenhagen's international atmosphere.

One of the largest cities in northern Europe, Copenhagen is also one of Europe's busiest hubs. The city's location has created commercial routes to far and near throughout centuries in an almost natural way.

Today's Copenhagen is very easy to reach by air, sea or land. Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (airport code CPH) is a major Northern European air hub with direct flights to most larger European cities and transatlantic and other faraway destinations.

With over 1.1 million inhabitants, the Greater Copenhagen area represents one-third of Denmark's entire population in an integrated labour market due to a well-developed infrastructure.

Top attractions include visiting Nyhavn, Tovoli Gardens, Rosenborg Castle and many more. Day tours will show you all that is needed

PARTY NEVER STOPS IN COPENHAGEN

IF IT WERE UP TO us, the official parties would never end, but all good things must eventually end. That does not mean that the night will have to end there - far from.

Nightlife in Copenhagen is very safe, and it is right outside the door of your hotel.

Vesterbro has the popular Meat Packing District and all the bars across from Tivoli Gardens and City Square.

Nyhavn, which you will be passing right through if you decide to walk back from the Viking Part on Thursday and Nations Night on Friday, is packed with bars, and the party vibe is felt all the way out into the street.

This is also where you will find the “morning bar”, which closes at 10 AM - just in time for you to continue to the next bar, which opens at 10 next door.

During the day, should you decide to not go on one of our day tours, we recommend a visit to “the beer cave” in Tivoli Gardens. The atmosphere there is one of enjoyment and brotherhood.

Copenhagen has a special vibe in September. The music and the party are never far away, and we cannot wait to show you all that our vibrant city offers.

WHY NOT INDULGE A BIT?

The Viking night and the nations night will have a bar run by Tablers and for Tablers. With very affordable Table pricing on all drinks.

TIVOLI HOTEL

The perfect Danish backdrop

YOU CANNOT SAY “Denmark” without simultaneously saying “Tivoli”, and we want to make sure you get all the best of Denmark.

That is why we are so excited to have secured the Tivoli Hotel as our Main Hotel for the World Meeting.

The hotel is centrally placed in Copenhagens hip neighbourhood of Vesterbro. It is within walking distance of Tivoli Gardens, the Central Station, the Main Square and The Meat Packing District – A great place to party after the official parties end.

Across the road from the hotel, the “harbour bus” will take you straight down to the popular Nyhavn, where you will see spectacular historic buildings and find more bars than you will have time to visit. All with the classic Danish outdoor service.

We are going for full-on “hygge”, and Tivoli Hotel will provide the perfect backdrop for this. When getting into an elevator or sitting down for breakfast, there is an 80 % chance that the person across from you is also staying there for the World Meeting.

All we need is for you to be there and share in the spirit of Hygge.
