Getting there

ASLEEP TO SALZKAMMERGUT

The ÖBB Nightjet brings travelers to Salzkammergut safely, comfortably and, above all, completely stress-free. Regardless of whether it is a business or vacation trip, it is not only more convenient to travel by train, it is also much more environmentally friendly.

Almtal

Almtal lies in the north-east of the Salzkammergut and has a particularly diverse landscape. The region is suited especially for those who want to spend their holiday with their families and being close to nature. You can take an OEBB train via Wels to Grünau im Almtal.

Attergau

On top of the Kronberg, one can enjoy a fantastic view to lake Attersee. This town not only hosts the Attergauer Culture Summer, but is also the start and finish of the Race Around Austria. In the Kristall Salt World one can explore the secrets of salt and let your mind wander. In Vöcklamarkt, a regional train connects you to lake Attersee.

Ausseerland

The region is home to many more interesting places like Altaussee, Bad Aussee, Bad Mitterndorf, Grundlsee, Pichl-Kainisch and Tauplitz-Alm. At any time of the year, the Ausseerland region is worth a visit. Public transportation is taken care of by the Narzissenjet ("Daffodil Jet"), which guarantees affordable mobility throughout the Auseerland region.

Bad Ischl

Ever since the Habsburg family chose Bad Ischl as their summer residence, the Austrian Emperor has been "in the air". The many forests, alps and mountains form a truly imperial recreation centre. Bad Isch offers an extensive cultural programme and culinary treats.

Dachstein

Here is also the home to the world heritage region Hallstatt. Salt has been won here for many centuries and when coming to Hallstatt, a visit to the salt mine is definitely a must. Don't leave out the Dachstein ice cave and the mammoth cave. Chinese business people reverse engineered the town Hallstatt in the Chinese province Guangdong.

Fuschlsee

Outside of Salzburg lies lake Fuschlsee. The region comprises seven villages. An attraction is the Fuschl castle, which became famous through the "Sissi"-movies about the Austrian Empress Elisabeth. Actually, countless church dignitaries, Empresses and film stars lived in this castle.

Mondseeland

The region is called either the "Pearl of Slazkammergut" or the "Gate to Salzkammergut". The different names stem from the viewpoint of the speaker. Lake Mondsee is a swimming lake which can be used for sports and recreation. The Irrsee lake is a conservation area and a place that invites visitors to calm down and rest.

Traunsee

One of the most well known villages around lake Traunsee is the pottery city Gmunden. About 300 years ago, the world renowned "Gmundner Dekor" was created. The traditional green design lives on until today. The nature park Attersee-Traunsee deserves a special mention and offers interesting guided tours.
