ART SCHOLARSHIP Information for Applicants

Creativity is one of the most sought after skills by employers and the creative industries are one of the fastest growing economies world-wide, so art is a popular subject choice for students and opportunities to develop artistic skill and engage creatively play a vital role in the school curriculum. Our goal within the art department is to support and guide students towards discovering their creativity and help them to develop skills across a wide range of media, materials and processes. In addition to developing artistic talent, Art teaches students skills such as problem solving, concept development, organisation, time management and teamwork. Our select group of art scholars play an important role in the department and within the school as a whole. They act as role models to other students and showcase what can be achieved when talent is combined with motivation and commitment. We expect our scholars to: • maintain good grades in all subjects; • receive consistently good attainment grades in art; • uphold the values of RST and be an excellent role model to other students in all aspects of school life, but particularly in their approach to commitment in art; • involve themselves fully in the co-curricular provision provision for art; • in most cases, to study art at GCSE/A Level.
