Eita's animal reports presents: Dolphins and whale Communication:

Understanding the Complex Language of These Aquatic Animals

Large whales can communicate over huge distances (across entire ocean basins) using very low frequencies. Dolphins and porpoises, however, use higher frequencies which limits the distance their sounds can travel.

In general, dolphins make two kinds of sounds, “whistles” and “clicks ” Clicks are used to sense their surroundings through echolocation, while they use whistles to communicate with other members of their species and very likely, with other species too It is also thought that each dolphin has a unique whistle called a ‘signature whistle’, which is used to identify an individual

What is Echo Location?

Toothed whales (including dolphins) use a sense called echolocation to navigate and hunt underwater. This means that they emit sound waves and then detect and interpret the echoes that bounce back off of other creatures and objects in the water around them, allowing them to build up a picture of their surroundings.

Dolphins hunt using their highly-developed echolocation, which means they can find food no matter how murky the water might be Not only that but they can even use it to identify any prey that might be hiding, such as under the sand!

Sperm whales also use echolocation to find their way around the dark depths of the ocean and to help with hunting for squid. Though only very brief, the clicks they make are the loudest sound in the animal kingdom.

How do dolphins and whales hear?

Whales and dolphins do have ears but they don’t have external sticky out ears like ours to funnel sound as they need to be streamlined for life in the water. Their ear canals are not open to the outside. Instead, they generally hear sounds through special structures in their jawbones.

TTHEORIES HEORIES

Hello everyone! This is a topic I am quite interested about so the chances of this getting a part 2 is very likely! If I do create part 2, it may or may not relate to Luna Lovegood’s theories.

THE MANDELA EFFECT

Theory: The Mandela Effect is when large groups of people remember something differently from how it actually happened. Some people believe this is proof of parallel universes or alternate realities blending together. examples

Pikachu’s Tail: People often remember Pikachu, the iconic Pokémon, having a black tip on his tail. Reality is that it is completely yellow - no black tips!

The Monopoly Man’s Monocle: Many believe that the Monopoly mascot, Rich Uncle Pennybags, wears a monocle. The thing is, he doesn’t!

Nelson Mandela’s Death: The theory’s name comes from people remembering Nelson Mandela dying in the 1980s while in prison, when he actually lived until 2013. Apparently, there are false memories of the event being on the news, too.

aRGUMENTS FOR

The idea is that these shared false memories can’t be just random mistakes. If so many people remember them the same way, maybe something strange is going on like glitches in reality or timelines crossing. Is this possible? What are the chances? Is there anything else we thought was true, but isn’t?

TTHEORIES HEORIES

THE MOON LANDING HOAX

Theory: Some believe the 1969 Apollo moon landing was staged by NASA and the U.S. government to beat the Soviet Union in the Space Race. They think the footage was shot on Earth, maybe even by filmmaker Stanley Kubrick examples Conspiracy theorists point out supposed anomalies in the moon landing videos, like the American flag appearing to wave when there’s no wind on the moon, and shadows that don’t look right. They say it was all a big setup.

arguments for

Arguments For: Supporters argue that the technology back then wasn’t good enough to pull off a real moon landing Faking it would’ve been a lot easier and cheaper than actually going there.

If this is true, what would be the outcome? How will it change things?

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

It is important to note that all conspiracy theories can be quite confusing and easy to believe. Because of the internet, there is a plethora of misinformation out there, which this article starts to highlight. If you find yourself becoming sucked into a rabbit hole of reading about conspiracies and find yourself confused, please come and speak to a trusted adult!

A list of stripped medals from the Olympics

The following pages will be about a list of stripped medals from the (IOC) or the international Olympic committee The IOC is the main body of the Olympics thus making key protocols and important rules for the Olympic games. A vast majority of athletes had their medals taken away as a result of different rule-breaks and poor refereeing. Sometimes the athletes were doing the correct thing but still got their medals taken away. Despite this ,it is ok to make mistakes even world class athletes also make mistakes

From 1904 to 2024 there have been a total of 160 medals seized by the international olympic committee throughout the summer and winter olympic games. Here is what I will write about, today I will be writing about three occasions from the summer and three from the winter olympic games and write about it For context, the Soviet Union and Russia are the countries with the most stripped medals since 1904

In the Olympics, the most stripped medals were in the 2008 Beijing summer Olympics with a total of 50 medals stripped across the span of a month. Some athletes have had medals taken away from them for different methods of cheating before physically getting on to the medal podium, such as American marathon runner Frederick Lorz at the 1904 Olympics and Swedish horse rider Bertil Sandström at the 1932 Olympics. These athletes are not included in the list as they were disqualified before physically receiving their medals, and in any case were never guaranteed to win them going in to the final round of competition

In 2024, Jordan Chiles was initially awarded bronze in the floor exercise final in the woman’s gymnastics

Although Chiles's initial score was not high enough to earn a medal, officials adjusted her score following an appeal from Chiles's coach after determining that Chiles's difficulty score had not been accurately entered. Chiles's revised score placed her in third place, earning a bronze medal. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation appealed this decision to the Court of Arbitration of Sport , which ruled that Chiles's coach had made the appeal not within the allowed minute (specifically, four seconds late) In response to the ruling, the International Gymnastics Federation reinstated Chiles's initial score, putting her in fifth place, and reinstated Romanian gymnast Ana Bărbosu to third place On August 11, the International Olympic Committee announced that the bronze medal in the floor exercise would go to Bărbosu, thus leaving Chiles without an individual Olympic medal.

In the case of Rick Demont, the United States Olympic Committee recognized his gold medal performance in the 1972 Summer Olympics in 2001,but only the IOC has the power to restore his medal, and it has, as of 2024, refused to do so DeMont originally won the gold medal in the 400m freestyle swimming, but the International Olympic committee stripped him of his gold medal after his postrace urinalysis tested positive for traces of the banned substance ephedrine contained in his medical asthma medication.
