I’M HUNGRY To whom it may concern, Currently attending my Master degree in architectural design, I’m creative, teamplayer, passionate, and seeking for opportunities. If I should choose one word to describe myself, I would go with hungry: hunger drives me to learn, think, try, fail, start all over again in order to achieve my goals. I’m young and not afraid of being wrong in an argument, I seek for dialogue in everything I do as it is for me a primary asset aimed at enrich my experience in a team, university or work environment. Professional growth is something I already aim to and I believe I own the tools to begin dealing with the architecture industry In this portfolio I’m going to show different contests, scales, subjects and goals I worked on, leaving more to the images and less to the words. I sincerely love what I do, this is my motivation. Ruggero Buffo

MOOS SOFT MOBILITY Munich 2016 Landscape

The aim of the project is to consider landscape as a relationship between man and nature focusing on the theme of inclusivity and participation. In fact, the proposed intervention wants to improve the contact between citizens and the environment in which they live, with the purpose of appreciating and discovering it in a different way. The project focuses more on the theme of mobility, intended as the creation of a network with interchanges, which is able to connect people and landscape, using soft mobility and public transport. The project considers the integration between the existing cycle paths, adding some points of bike sharing, with the re-designed water and canal system, with the aim of making it navigable with kayak or small boats. The core of the project is the Regatta Park See, thought as an interchange point where, through a line concept, all the functions are allocated. These functions are the improvement of the parking, the creation of a sport park, a viewpoint, the facilities for the sunbathing area, a docking point for kayak, a rest area and hostels. In particular, the project focuses on the model of the youth hostel, thought as a small floating house, as a hut, where guests can rest, lean their bike or kayak and appreciate the surrounding landscape. To sum up, the project wants to create a different point of view using different types of mobility, in order to create connections, involve local people and promote community inclusion.

This plan is located near the south limit of a wider area of project that develops itself from North Munich to the F.J. Strauss Int. Airport, following the highway and defined by a network of canals and waterways. This general area has been approached through an atlas controlling the interventions towards a new and sustainable soft mobility involving land as well as water facilities. This atlas was implemented in this particular scenario and brought to this masterplan, reached by paths from the overall area.

RECOMPOSING RURAL LANDSCAPE Parma 2016 Landscape + Architecture

Even though this project was from an optional laboratory, I deeply appreciated the result in terms of form and visualization: I worked on it during my third year so I could adoperate different approaches and techniques on a relatively simple task. In this area, located in the countryside near Parma, land of eno-gastronomic excellences, there was a group of rural buildings left to themselves. The objective was to riqualificate and assign them new functions together with the fields nearby, to create a new point of interest powered by the city and the closer still empty residential area. The design of the touristic side of the park was submitted to the rural working one, so we created different spaces were work and tourism could coexist. Even the buildings follow this principle because, as the heart of the system, they consist in small apartments, a garden, restaurant/shop for tourists and the needed structures for workers and machines

PERIFERIE INTERNE Piacenza 2016 Architecture

The masterplan You see wants to solve the relationship between Piacenza’s antique walls and the limit of the city historical centre. In the middle of those two sides we can find an empty, unutilized area where the project puts a park. This work actually started as a team project where every member had to choose a particular area to focus on: I chose this series of existing houses upon which i could elaborate said relationship. The project consist in a chain of public areas, semi-public passages and private gardens all orientated towards the park and the walls. This projection is endorsed by a height difference between the lake of the park and the residences. The architectural composition is located at the end of this block of buildings: I tried to work with the traditional Italian housing form while integrating it with contemporary necessities, materials and spaces. The result wants to camouflage itself in this long linear stage by being his natural ending.
