Cromer in Bloom
Covering Cromer, Mundesley, the Runtons and surrounding villages in association with the North Walsham Times and Sheringham Independent
The weather couldn't have been better for the Annual Presentation Evening held in the Walled Garden at Felbrigg Hall on Thursday 8th August. Our thanks go to Ray Sandham, General Manager, National Trust at Felbrigg Hall for the use of this lovely venue. Unfortunately our Judge, Alison Cushing, could not be with us, however she sent her comments on this year's Judging. "Overall the standard was very high and the results extremely close in some of the Classes. It was lovely seeing the beautiful gardens in lovely weather and seeing them at their best. "We were joined by three members of About With Friends who look after a garden on behalf of Cromer in Bloom by the Town sign on the Norwich Road. Cromer Town Mayor, David Pritchard gave an entertaining talk about his previous gardening experiences before presenting Cerificates and Trophies.

News from the White Horse Overstrand with Head Chef Nathan Boon
Our summer season is now in full swing and I am pleased to tell readers that we are receiving some very kind comments about our food and service. We have installed a bouncy castle in the garden alongside our year-round play equipment, so that the many families who visit us have even more to keep the children happy while the parents sit in the garden and enjoy the summer sunshine.
Believe it or not we are now taking bookings for Christmas! Our 2013 Christmas Party Night, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve Menus are available from the pub, or if you prefer we can post a copy to you. But before we get to Christmas, we have our grand charity auction and dinner on Saturday 12th October. A superb three course dinner for just £35 with drinks in the bar from 7.30pm.
2 teaspoons cornflour 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar Pinch of salt 600ml double cream, 6 passion fruit
Method Preheat oven to 140c. Lightly grease a lined baking tray.
Whisk the egg whites in a large bowl with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks appear, slowly add sugar to meringue until it goes stiff and shiny, and then add cornflour and vinegar. Drop large spoonfuls of meringue onto the baking tray and spread each one roughly to 10cm round.
The charity auction will commence at 9pm and we are gathering some really exciting lots that I am sure will raise a lot of money for our charity of the year: Nelson’s Journey. Details of the auction will be announced very soon, so keep reading my column to find out more.
Bake for 45 minutes, until top of meringue is pale in colour and of a marshmallow consistency in the middle.
Ingredients (recipe serves 8) 6 egg whites 350g caster sugar
Halve the passion fruits and scrape the pulp of the fruit over the pavlova.

Local Quality
Lisa and Andrew have been in Cromer for eight years now selling high quality local produce, cheeses, meats and groceries – Including a good gluten free range of goods at the Cromer Farm Shop.
How long have you been here in Tucker Street? I asked Lisa. "We have been here behind the church for over three years now. We needed the bigger location so we could expand our range. And this has been a very successful move."
You specialise in local produce, how do you do that? "We have, over the years, carefully built up relationships with over 40 local producers, local farms and smallholdings ranging from 17-year-old Beverly in West Beckham, to 81-year-old Alan Morris near Alysham. Our fruit and vegetables aren’t organic, but in general they are chemical-free, with high standards of husbandry," Lisa continued. "Very important to us is that they grow traditional varieties with the flavours, smell and feel that the supermarkets have plainly long ago lost. We also do not like to pre-pack; it's up to the customer how much they want.

Andrew commented, "We get produce from field to shop in 24 hours, which would be difficult if our suppliers were not really local and understanding of our ethics. Many of our suppliers are exclusive to Cromer Farm Shop. The quality is such that we supply many of the best restaurants and bistros in the area."

Centenary of First World War to be commemorated with new Choral Work celebrating Life of Edith Cavell
Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society have commissioned the renowned composer Patrick Hawes to write a new large scale choral work to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War in 2014.
The world premiere performance in Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 12 July 2014 is part of the First World War Centenary Partnership, led by IWM (Imperial War Museums) as also will be a very special Remembrance Concert on Saturday 8 November 2014 in St Peter’s Church Sheringham.
The First World War Centenary Partnership is delivering a global programme of events and activities inspiring young and old to connect with the lives, stories and impact of the First World War.
Recently Patrick Hawes visited the choir during a rehearsal to talk about his plans. His brother, Rev Andrew Hawes, is currently writing the libretto which is based on the life and faith of Norfolk’s WW1 heroine, nurse Edith Cavell, who was executed in Belgium in 1915 for her role in helping hundreds of allied troops escape. Patrick will begin composing shortly and will meet with the choir over the coming months to share progress and “try out” some of
the music. Patrick explained that he is writing a solo soprano part for “my friend Elin Manahan Thomas” who will perform at the premiere with English Chamber Orchestra. He also announced to the choir that he has just signed a three-album deal with Decca.
As ambassador for The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts, Hawes is keen to involve children in his compositions and it is planned that students from Gresham’s international Britten Music Course will take part in the premiere performance. The Sheringham concert will feature children from the Jiminies choir at Gresham’s Prep School and will be accompanied by the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra with soprano soloist Rosamund Walton. Patrick will also deliver a workshop at the Auden Theatre in May 2014, open to both children and adults, to talk about the art of composing and share some of the music prior to its first formal performance.
Diane Lees, Director-General of IWM says “We are all connected to the First World War, either through our own family history, the heritage of our local communities, or because of its long term impact on society and the world we live in today. Patrick Hawes and Sheringham and
Cromer Choral Society are enabling people in Norfolk to understand the impact of the Great War on society today”. Musical Director for the choir and Director of the international Britten Music Course at Gresham’s, Nathan Waring, said, "We are incredibly excited to be working with Patrick in the creation of a major new choral work. The support given to us by our donors, including a major Grant for the Arts from Arts Council England, is assisting a culturally significant event in the commemorations for the centenary of WW1 in 2014, and iBMC participants will benefit enormously from the experience of performing alongside the ECO and Elin Manahan Thomas. I am thrilled to be asked to conduct the world premiere of a work which we hope will add to the rich tapestry of contemporary English choral music."
Further funding is still required for this major project. Anyone wishing to find out more should contact the Chairman, Bob Cumber, on 01263 822331 or email info@sheringhamandcromerchoral.co.uk

Cromer Carnival Children’s Weeks are well underway!
This week Cromer Carnival continued its celebrations with the second of two Children’s Weeks before the main carnival week which runs 17-21 August. Bumper crowds have been turning up to take part Children’s Weeks where activities have included the Sandcastle Competition and ever popular Paint-a-Stone competition.
Organisers of Children’s Weeks Tony West and Libby Clohisey said “We’ve had a great first week and we are really looking forward to week two which will finish with a Party on the Pier. After our first ever Duck Race off the Pier families can bring their own picnic and enjoy Punch & Judy, a magic show, games and a disco on the Pier Forecourt.”
Tony Shipp, Chairman of the Carnival said “Children’s Weeks are an established part of the run up to Cromer Carnival Week. Two weeks of activities for children and all the family.”
He went on to say “Libby and Tony have a great team of helpers to welcome families and get them in the Carnival spirit. The local families and regular visitors to Cromer already know what a great time is to be had. It's two weeks of free fun and entertainment with lots of prizes to be won too!"
The Carnival, now in its 44th year, sees a packed programme of over 120 events and activities across the celebrations. The programme promises a something for everyone from the traditional to the new across the summer holidays.
With the Children’s Weeks well underway the carnival atmosphere is building for the main carnival week which starts on Saturday 17 August with a Motorbike Extravaganza, Carnival Car Boot Sale, Craft Fair, Beer Festival and events in the arena on the Carnival field on Runton Road.
Events continue with the Crowning of Miss Cromer, Jade Armstrong, on Sunday 18th August by popular Norfolk entertainer Olly Day.
S U MMER EX H IB ITIO N Paintings by the Norfolk artist Leon Bunnewell 10th – 31st August 2013 Leon Bunnewell paints outside, on the spot – throughout the year and in all weathers. The meeting on 6 August was somewhat depleted but 20 members were joined by 2 guests at the Links Hotel in West Runton. After an exceptional lunch, Peter Stibbons gave an interesting presentation on aspects of the history of Overstrand, structured around the process he followed when making a DVD.
Peter mentioned a number of former residents important to Overstrand who had been mentioned by his interviewees. In proposing the vote of thanks, John Bolton-Maggs, himself a senior resident of Overstrand, confirmed that he had known many of these people personally and commended Peter on making a record of how Overstrand came to be what it is today.
Chairman, Dave Vickery, announced that the proposed joint meeting with Kelling Probus Club had been warmly endorsed at the recent Kelling meeting. The joint event will take place in March next year and will feature David Clayton, Editor of BBC Radio Norfolk, as the guest speaker.
The next meeting is on 3 September when George Carrick will be telling the story of the conversion of a railway carriage into a small cottage, situated at Holt Railway Station on the North Norfolk Railway. We also expect him to cover the history of railway carriages as accommodation and the conditions for the inhabitants.
Recent new members have found us welcoming so, if you are interested, contact Dave Vickery on 01263 824306 for more information and to arrange to attend a lunch. There is no obligation to join immediately; come and give it a try, then decide if you wish to attend regularly.

Nigel Hogg's Big Thank You to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital
When Seaside Special’s Musical Director was taken ill and had to be admitted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) he was naturally a little concerned he would be missing the opening night of Seaside Special’s Show Two ‘Strictly Seaside’ at the Pavilion Theatre, Cromer Pier. The cast and crew of the show pulled together and whilst Nigel was missed by all the show, in true ‘showbiz’ style the show went on and received excellent reviews.
Some two weeks later Nigel was sufficiently recovered to be allowed home and was back at work after a further two weeks home rest.
Nigel was so impressed with his stay on Gissing Ward, treatment and the way the staff helped him he decide to find a way of saying thank you and bringing a smile to both staff and patients alike. So the idea to take a mini version of Seaside Special to the NNUH was hatched along with Emma Jarvis from the NNUH Hospital Arts Project. Nigel said “No one likes being ill and in hospital but my stay on Gissing Ward was superb, the doctors and nursing staff were all so kind and understanding They did what they needed to do and made sure that I was comfortable and knew what was going on at all times”.
He continued “this was my way of thanking them all and in doing so highlighting the superb work that all the staff at the NNUH do every day”.
With the help of the cast and back stage crew Nigel put together a twenty-five minute show which was performed at the hospital on Friday 9 August at 2.15pm and 3pm. Members of the nursing staff who helped Nigel were amongst the audience along with patients and hospital visitors.
Emma McKay, Director of Nursing at the NNUH said "This was a wonderful idea, it's the first time a show like this has been performed at the NNUH and we were all very excited, I am sure it gave a boost to patients, visitors and staff alike. It is such a kind gesture and I would like to thank both the cast and stage crew for giving up their time to do the shows and bring a little bit of Seaside Special magic to the hospital.
As part of the planning for the shows an approach was made to konectbus who operate the Norwich to Holt service to see if he could borrow the recently branded Seaside
Northrepps Film Society opens with free show
Northrepps is following the example of many villages up and down the country by starting up a film society, which will show a film each month from September to April in the village hall.
Special bus to ferry the cast and crew to and from the hospital, konectbus were delighted to help.
Emma Jarvis from the Hospital Arts Project said “My thanks to konectbus for giving their time and the Seaside Special bus to transport the cast so they could put on these special performances, it was really great to see everyone working together and bringing a little bit of Seaside Special magic to the hospital".
Managing Director of konectbus Julian Patterson said, "We were delighted to be able to support this event. It is such a great idea and one that the patients and staff will enjoy. We're proud to be part of the North Norfolk community and pleased that our konectexpress 2 service could play a part in such a great day"
SOME THINGS WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER«
The programme begins on September 5th with the Oscar-winning The King’s Speech and this inaugural show will be completely free of charge. The film starts at 7:30 p.m. but doors open at 7pm with tea and coffee for sale, as well as a licensed bar, so that people have a chance to socialise before settling down to enjoy the film.
The idea of a film society came from Billy Miles, chairman of Northrepps village hall committee, who asked Andrew Gilling whether he would look into creating one. Andrew recruited several people in the village to help him do this and so the Northrepps Film Society was born. Said Les McCormick, secretary of the society, “We thought it would be a great way of bringing people together and providing entertainment in the village.”
The projector and screen are being hired from Village Screen, an organisation which supports local film societies, and the start-up costs were donated as a grant by the Norfolk Community Foundation. After the first month, however, the film society must fund itself through ticket sales. “To do that, we are going to need at least forty people at each show so we are really hoping there will be plenty of local support,” said Andrew Gilling.
The first year’s programme continues with Midnight Cowboy on October 3rd; Cromer in the Second World War on November 7th, with a talk by the publisher, Peter Stibbons; and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on December 5th.

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
When I sent the last copy for the “Times” papers to Margaret, she replied by asking if we would be able to assist an elderly gentleman who had contacted her hoping we would be able to help him as he had 9 cats and 6 kittens needing new homes. He was asking for help having read one of our previous articles. I then discussed the situation with Stephanie and made contact with the family who said that the older cats had just appeared, so we can only assume that they had been dumped there; they were feral but the kittens quite friendly. As we cannot put feral cats in our pens (it would be cruel to confine them in such a small space) we were able to offer to get the adult cats neutered and because the kittens were still quite small we would be able to take them into care and find them new homes. Although not the ideal solution the family were grateful for the help we could offer and plans were then made to catch all the kittens before starting to trap, neuter and return the adult cats to the site. One of the cats already in care was then moved (and has now been re-homed) to accommodate the kittens and the job of catching
commenced. A further two kittens were discovered in the meantime and all are now in care, all tabby and white but from three separate litters. Two of the kittens were a little hissy to begin with but with lots of contact from their fosterer they have all settled in and some are already old enough to leave us.
Because the lady trapping the cats works, we asked Barbara, one of our volunteers, if she would deal with the transporting to and from the vets and fortunately she has been able to do this. To date, six of the cats have been trapped and neutered although sadly one died on the operating table. This happens very rarely and there is usually an underlying health problem when it does. We now believe there are only two more cats to catch and hopefully when you read this they too will have been to the vets and the family concerned will have no extra cats to care for and, more importantly, no more kittens.
Sheringham Carnival Pet Show
– a fantastic day for all that attended! A big thank you to everyone that took part in organising and joining in with this event. It was our first attempt at a pet show and we were delighted with the turn out. It was lovely to see many of our regular clients there as well as a few holiday makers. The carnival queen Jenna, with her attendant Pippa, judged the categories picking winners from each one, with the help of our own Vet Michaela and Jen our guest Vet from Edinburgh. The overall winner went to one of our regular clients – Daisy a lovely cocker spaniel, she won the award for her lovely temperament and being such a well behaved pooch on the day! Other winners included little Molly for being so tiny, Gillie for being a beautiful rescue and Flo for being the oldest in the show. There were so many winners, we hope they all had a good day and that they will join us again next time.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Osborne for the fabulous agility display they put on using their own dogs and for helping members of the public have a go at the course.
If you have any of your own pictures of the show feel free to put them on our facebook page. More pictures are on our website or you can go to www.andylangleyphotography.org.uk for more.

Busking comes to Cromer Pier
Cromer Pier is set to showcase an array of musical talent at the end of the summer when it holds its first ‘busking Day’. Sunday 8th September will see six musical acts battle it out for your vote as they play along the length of the pier.
The six acts will play from 11am to 3pm, alternating every hour so they get to perform at different sections along the pier. The public will have the opportunity to collect a voting form on the pier forecourt and wander around listening to acts before voting for their favourite. The winning act will receive a slot on the coveted Pavilion Theatre Stage at a later date.
The idea of hosting a busking day on Cromer pier was the brain-child of two friends, local music promoter Ben Carpenter and General Manager of the Pier Rebecca Wass.
Ben said “Rebecca got in touch recently after Rock Bodham which I organised and wanted to see if I could come up with any ideas for the pier so between us we came up with this. I’m really excited as we will have no electric, power amps or mics so it will be proper old fashioned busking only! It should be a really entertaining day.”
Rebecca said “I’ve been working over the last few months to create some opportunities for
artists to perform on the Pier and entertain the visitors; this has worked well with walk-about acts and some storytelling. After seeing the success of Rock Bodham I knew Ben would be the perfect person to help increase this entertainment through to September, his brilliant suggestion of a Busking day will showcase local talent and give one lucky winner a brilliant opportunity to perform on The Pavilion Stage.”
The line-up is nearly complete and includes Jim Higgs, Swing Lizzy, Couch and Reg Length. The type of music that the acts will be performing will be kept under wraps until the day so it’s a bit of a surprise.
Jon from Swing Lizzy said ‘It sounds so much fun and gives us an excuse to bring back all the material we played years ago. It’s a great idea’ The team at Cromer pier would like to thank all the artists who are giving up their free time to help out. More information can be found on the pier Facebook page www.facebook.com/ PavilionTheatreCromerPier

Back to school and back to session
In September, as the summer holidays end, children head back to school and people return to work. NHS Blood and Transplant is urging people in this area to make sure giving blood is part of their routine. Blood is always required with hospitals in England and North Wales needing around 7,000 units of blood every day to treat patients for a range of reasons. It is used in accidents and emergencies but also during surgery and treatment for cancer and blood diseases, like leukaemia. Please book your appointment now and get the date in your diary to help others.
It is important that vital blood stocks are maintained at all times, as red blood cells have a shelf life of just 35 days and platelets a shelf life of only seven days. NHS Blood and Transplant needs to collect enough blood in the right quantities to meet patient needs and regular donors are crucial in enabling us to do so.
Derek Carr, Lead Donor Relations Manager for NHSBT, said: New donors are always welcome. The more people who register and donate, the easier it is for us to tailor our sessions, so we collect just what’s needed. For example, if stocks of a particular blood group are falling, we have more people with that group who we can call on to donate. Now is as good a time as any to get your first appointment in your diaries.” Anyone aged between 17 - 65, weighing more than 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor. There is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years. For more information or to book an appointment call the Donor Line on 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk

NORTHREPPS 'POPPYLAND' BRANCH
Our small Branch has been busy over the past few weeks, working, socialising, and fund raising, within our local community. It started off on the 29th June, 2013, at Armed Forces Day, with our Branch Stand and Standard, at Cromer, and this is always a pleasure to be working with our neighbouring Branch at this event, having the opportunity of allowing the public a glimpse into the work of The Royal British Legion, and our thanks go to Cromer Branch, and the Cromer Womens' Section, for their welcome and excellent hospitality.
On Saturday 13th July, 2013, our newly appointed Branch President, Major Eric Foxall MBE., and his wife, hosted at their home, the annual Branch Garden Party, which was attended by members and their guests, and we were delighted to welcome also Mr. John Needham, Cromer Branch Chairman, and Brigadier SJM Marriner CBE. After enjoying both the delicious food dishes all prepared by members, and the delightful hot sunny weather, our Chairman Mr. Eric Vickers on behalf of our 22
Branch members, presented to Major Eric Foxall MBE, a Royal British Legion Branch Certificate, in recognition and appreciation of all his work within our Branch and the Royal British Legion, since 1978. His wife was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
Northrepps Fete on the 29th July, 2013 - it is always a pleasure annually again to have our stand, and game for not only children but the adults, to participate in, and also to set out and sell their bric-a-brac for them, and it is good that we can support our local church at the same time.
Finally, on Wednesday 31st July, 2013, we held our annual Coffee Morning at Overstrand Sports Pavilion, raising a total of £213.11, for our Branch funds. It has been very busy, but enjoyable few weeks, and we would like to thank everybody who has supported us, given raffle prizes, and generally given us their help, and this has resulted in The Royal British Legion working within the community, and highlighting the work that they undertake,
helping and supporting our Servicemen and women, taking into consideration the operational theatres that they now see themselves very much involved in today.
Why not come along to Northrepps Country Cottage Hotel, 1930hours, first Monday of every month, (second Monday on Bank Holidays) and join a small very active Branch of The Royal British Legion. A warm welcome awaits you. The next Meeting will be Monday 2nd September, 2013, when we will be putting our autumn/winter programme together.
For further information, please contact our Secretary, Lorna, on 01263 579633. Cromer Times 428 August 24th 2013

Dear Margaret,
Mount Snowdon challenge was completed...
I would just like to thank all your readers and the fantastic clients of Hair Couture for their generous donations in helping me raise £622 for the Alzheimer's Society.
The day itself did not go as expected as thick fog and extremely high winds tried to dampen our spirits but the five of us together (myself with Barry Foulser, Sandra Foulser, Nathan Foulser and Jennifer Armstrong) ploughed on with the aid of jelly babies!
Thank-you again for all of your support and kind messages.
Roll on the next challenge!
Yours sincerely, Victoria Craske

Dear Margaret,
I was bored – nothing to do, nothing on the box, I know I’ll get my motorbike out – ride down to Land’s End and then up to John o’Groats, that will pass a bit of time! My bike, a modernish twin cylinder Triumph Bonneville of 865cc.
Well at my modest pace it took six-days to cover the 2064 miles door-to-door, the weather was mixed, sometimes it was a bit damp, very damp one day with horizontal rain and on the way home it got so hot that I had stop to take my vest off – too much information!
Raised a bit of cash for Big-C, Norfolk’s own cancer charity, plus I was able to pass on to them a voucher I won from Urban Armour of Burnham Market for getting a photograph of my trip in the Norfolk Magazine. There may be another attack of boredom next spring, but where to then? But next year I’ll be 68 years-of-age and much, much more sensible! One in three of us will develop cancer, Big-C provides local support, care and equipment plus national research for those of us who have or will develop this disease. Your support will help someone today and may save somebody’s life tomorrow. John Lewis Town Close, Holt, 01263 711 536

A Proper Tea Room
James and Max Morris have been at the blue Willow for three years now and are really enjoying running the business.
James has an interesting history in the engineering trade, he also had a large exposure to running a tea room - his mum Jill and best friend Diana ran a tea room in Happisburgh for a long time until coastal erosion ended the venture. James loved working there, talking to all the customers and helping Diana and his mum to run a successful business. But when the opportunity to run his own tea room in Cromer came along, civil engineering was furthest from his thoughts - "I just had to do it," James said. "But I wanted to do it properly like my mum and my second mum Diana Wrightson did."
And that means quality, from the hand-picked staff, to the hand-picked local products and homemade cakes and scones. "We make as much as

possible in-house from scratch using local supplies."
“Max is great with our finance and administration; she also helps in the tea room on her days off from her Job as Accountant/Office Manager in Aylsham.” “Our staff are really good with the customers which is very important to us. We make sure that everyone that comes in enjoys the proper experience of a tea room, from the Blue Willow china to the lovely homemade food and quite often an interesting chat.” “Thank you to Annette, Georgia, Lauren and Jacob they really make our customers feel welcome which means they come back year after year.”

“But that's only part of the story, it takes time to be welcomed in a new town, and now we have many regular local customers that enjoy a chat, and a Pot of Tea served in our Blue Willow china of course!”

Further opportunity to save money on gas and electricity bills
North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) is offering residents a further opportunity to use ‘people power’ to save money on their gas and electricity bills through the Big Switch and Save scheme.
The first round of the scheme was launched in North Norfolk in March this year, with 2796 households in the area registering. They achieved an overall average annual saving of £111 per household, with the highest average annual saving of £139 for ‘dual fuel’ customers opting for online billing. Nearly 12,000 households registered across the country as a whole, of which 71% were able to make a saving through switching.

NNDC Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, John Lee, said, “We all know that gas and electricity costs are soaring and energy switching is one way individual households can reduce those costs. NNDC is delighted to be able to offer a second opportunity for people in North Norfolk to register for the Big Switch and Save. Our experience in the first round of the scheme shows that it really can help many people cut their energy costs in these difficult times.”

They will be offered a place in the County Premier League and if they accept we will wish them all success.

I have been a bit surprised that the morning roll ups have not been supported as well as I would have expected in view of such fine bowling weather. The Cromer Crabs were successful in their final game of the season away at Holt Tawny Owls winning 7-2. However that did not quite prove to be enough as Dilham Cross Keys won 9-0 away at Mill Farm and managed to win the Area League ‘A’ by 3½ points with the Crabs second. Cromer Crows have played three games to finish their season including two games against Holt Barn Owls. One of those was the game abandoned when the sprinklers came on half way through the game. The Crows lost 2-7 away at the Barn Owls and lost by a similar score at home to Reepham Town. However they finished their season with a very good 7-2 win at home against the Barn Owls in the rearranged match. The NANSA League team were away against Cawston and lost 2-6. They had a game at home against Dilham Cross Keys and claimed a very creditable 4-4 draw. This was followed by a very good 8-0 win away against Sheringham Morley. There is one game left to play away against Holt Swallows.

Neil does not appear to be having much luck lately. A postman could not get into his block of flats to deliver the mail. A key had been broken in the main entrance lock. No one could get in or out! Neil had to climb out of the window to assist the postman. Not an easy task. The dress code on the green for morning roll ups is not formal as it is a public green open to any person with appropriate bowls and shoes. However one morning Jack was seen to be very colourful. Tartan cap, blue and yellow flowered shorts and to finish it off one striped yellow sock and one striped red sock – yes he had another similar pair at home!
