Bright future for Locomotive 76084 on the North Norfolk Railway as benefactor steps in to purchase shares
Cromer Laundry Services & Launderette
A North Norfolk Railway supporter has bought a key share in Standard ‘4MT’ No. 76084 – keeping the 2-6-0 at the railway for the foreseeable future.
10 Bond Street Cromer
self service - service wash ironing - steaming - dry cleaning agents repairs & alterations commercial & domestic
The engine’s future was thrown into question in September when 31 per cent stakeholder John Oldcorn advertised his shares for sale. Although not a majority controlling stake, the 247,532 shares are enough to exercise an influence on the management of 76084.
Open 8am to 6pm Monday - Saturday
01263 479653 or 07985 809471
NNR Managing Director Hugh Harkett successfully led the negotiations for the deal on the unnamed supporter’s behalf and will be the representative on the board while the benefactor wishes to remain in the background. The shares were exchanged for an undisclosed sum.
cromerlaundryservices@gmail.com
“The engine stays here and we have lots of plans for it,” said Hugh Harkett. The first of those includes a re-tube with the aim of extending its main line boiler certification from seven to ten years before embarking on a third consecutive summer season of dining trains over the Bittern Line between Sheringham and Cromer.
Mr Harkett added “The other shareholders in the Standard 4 have received the news very well and while we’re not putting a block on it to stop it going elsewhere, it will be based here. Nevertheless the loco will probably be visiting other railways and will likely be running on the main line and we will not want to stop that happening unless we have work for 76084. The North Norfolk Railway have a long term agreement with 76084, and that would have been the case anyway. The 76084 Company Ltd. will still pay for any work carried out on their engine.” The Riddles ‘Mogul’ has been based in Norfolk since moving there for the completion of its restoration from Barry scrapyard condition in 2013; initially on an steaming agreement that repaid the loans made by NNR for the restoration. Eric Bond, publicity officer for 76084 Locomotive Company Ltd. said “We were concerned that a heritage railway line could buy half the shares and left others out in the cold… but they [the NNR] look after the shareholders really well, so it’s a win-win all round.”
The NNR continues to use the Standard 4 as one of it’s prestigious engines and will of course be delighted it is now available for the North Norfolkman Dining Trains between Holt, Sheringham and Cromer and for the forthcoming Santa Pullman Lunch trains this December.

Friends of Mundesley Library
On behalf of The Friends of Mundesley Library, I would like to thank all who supported their event in November with the author Elly Griffiths.
Daytime 07736 516644 Evening 01263 663042
The talk was fully booked a month before the event and people came from all over Norfolk.
None of them was disappointed as she was absolutely brilliant. She told us so many interesting things about her life, her family and how she first came to writing books. It was fascinating and amusing with the packed library full of laughter.
After her talk Elly answered various questions and then we all enjoyed the mince pies & coffee while many of us were able to chat to Elly who described the venue as "a beautiful and well stocked library".
Many thanks to Elly Griffiths who was fabulous. For those who missed this event we are hoping that Elly will be able to return to Mundesley Library to give another talk early next year.

Merchants' Place Community Resource and Learning Centre, Cromer, recently delivered a free Interview Skills Workshop presented by Julia Knight, Lead Adviser for Access to Opportunities Project, funded by the Big Lottery, and Peter Battrick from North Norfolk Speakers Club. The workshop was well attended with very positive feedback from participants. "Confidence in speaking- what you say and how you say it - is one of the most important skills for interviews. On behalf of North Norfolk Speakers Club, I was pleased to be able to contribute to the workshop" said Peter. Retired? New to the area?
You don’t need to be a recent arrival for this to be of interest, but you do have to be retired or near to it.
Cromer & Sheringham Probus Club is a great environment for retired men to make and meet friends over a good lunch. We also have a guest speaker at most meetings, with talks on a wide range of topics, often with a local flavour.
All in all, the Club is an excellent way of getting to know what goes on in the area. The speakers are part of it, but our members are also involved in a wide range of other local clubs and activities, so connections can be established. An added bonus is that you do not have to do anything other than come along to enjoy the meetings and, if you cannot attend every month, it does not matter.

Most folk dread the onset of Winter, Those long, chilly nights and sharp frosts. The northerly winds blow straight through you, Especially those cold, biting gusts! The weather can be really awful, With rain, sleet and snow often seen. I love the all the wintery conditions, Except when it gets too extreme! I love walking the bleak empty beaches; Few others will brave this stark scene. But wrapped up in warm winter clothing, It’s so bracing - the air fresh and clean! In cities, the streets empty early, As people rush back to their homes. They only go out if they have to, No one wants to be chilled to their bones. Then there’s the planning for Christmas, Decorations and lights for the trees. Baubles and tinsel and presents to wrap Thrills mounting as we prepare these.
I admit there’s a real anticlimax, Once celebrations are done. The first months of the year can really drag by, But at least the nights aren’t so long!

I love sitting beside my warm, glowing fire On horrible nights when it's cold. When snow covers the ground, I feel safe and sound And cocooned, as my life’s put on hold!
For those who can’t see any good points, And think Winter’s too hard to enjoy, They have only to look a few weeks ahead, When Spring will bring back warmth and joy! Frances Wraight
THE SCHOOL NATIVITY
Every school must have one, the Christmas Nativity, Poor Tom was feeling so depressed at all the activity, He wanted to be the donkey or even have 'Joseph's ' part He'd read the parts so nicely and knew them all by heart.

He knew he'd be a great donkey as he had a cheeky grin And Mum and Dad in the audience would be so proud of him, He believed he'd make a good 'Joseph', walking by 'Mary's' side He could smile and beam in every scene and exude a wondrous smile. The part he got he did not want, the 'innkeeper' was he All dressed up, one word to say, he felt it, oh, so twee, The single word was two letters long, his prowess he could not show He stood there in the doorway and all he said was “No.
Rehearsals were, as always, endless, the teachers would sometimes shout, And Louise, who was 'Mary' was very soon booted out, Over and over they did their parts, his patience wearing thin Remembering always to say just “No, 'cos there was no room in the inn.
Then came that day in December when parents settled down to see The Lower School perform that year's production of 'Nativity', Everything was going fine until the innkeeper, young Tom, Said, “Yes, of course you can, come in sit down, I'll put the kettle on. Winter Garden Makeovers By Matt Carlton of Norfolk Landscape Gardeners
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, Everywhere you go”
Except in my garden, which is looking particularly unglamorous at the moment, as a result of a chronic lack of time.
It’s a bit of a problem isn’t it, trying to think about making a garden special during the winter months? It is tempting to spend our time contemplating the “warmer” weather to come, to close the curtains and light a fire and let the garden go to the dogs.
The reality is though, that this is a brilliant time to treat yourself to a garden makeover. Now that the weather has turned colder, the weeds have died back, and the leaves have dropped, we can really see the structure of our gardens and have a good long think about the space we would like to enjoy in the coming summer.
Now is the best time to think about structural changes to your garden. Creating new spaces like patio areas, outdoor dining spaces, open areas, pergolas, garden buildings, new lawns, flower beds. This is the ideal time to put those

things in place, so that when the spring comes, new plants can be put in and by the time we arrive at the idyllic and maybe mythical “long hot days of summer”, you can put your feet up and enjoy your garden. I often ask you to step into your garden for a moments contemplation on a particular subject. This time, I would like you to wrap a scarf around your neck, pull on your warmest socks and step out into your garden and imagine the summer. Imagine the warmth of the sun on your face, the smell of the flowers, the sound of birdsong in every corner, the hum of bees amongst the flowers. Consider the crackle of a barbeque, the chink of an ice cube in a glass and above all, the sound of your own contentment as you relax in your own private Idaho, shutting out the world and all its troubles and simply being where you are.
A beautiful thought, I think you’ll agree. But we need to make that happen. That patio replacement you need to set off the hot tub you promised yourself has to be designed and built, the new flower borders to replace the overgrown ones need to be put in and arranged and the new driveway that you have always promised yourself to make the
front of your property really stand out needs to be planned and built.
That is where I’d really like you to give us a call. Norfolk Landscape Gardeners truly relishes the opportunity to make a garden really work for people, to make your space personal, practical and beautiful. From initial concept, via detailed hand-drawn designs, to completion, we really want to make your garden beautiful for the summer and right now is the ideal time to start.
Our initial consultations are free, where we will visit you to discuss your ideas in detail and work those ideas into a practical reality, so please give us a call and treat your garden to a Christmas present. Let it be all it can be.
Look after each other, Merry Christmas from all of us at Norfolk Landscape Gardeners

The Rotary Club of Holt and District, in conjunction with Broadland Rotary Club, will again host the North Norfolk Heat of the ‘Rotary Young Musician Competition 2018’ at 2.30pm on Sunday 28 January 2018 and the District Final Sunday 25 February 2018 when supporters and the public are welcome.
We are fortunate that the venue will again be at Gresham's School, Holt, by kind permission of the Headmaster, Douglas Robb and the Director of Music, John Bowley.
This year they have generously offered Rotary the opportunity to hold the competition in the new Britten Building (named after the Old Greshamian, Benjamin Britten). This building development was recently completed at a cost of £6.5m and formally opened by HRH The Princess Royal.
It provides six classrooms and Gresham’s Britten Building © Photograph, 10 music teaching/ Gresham’s School rehearsal rooms, some with Steinway pianos and a commercial standard recording studio. The jewel in the crown is the 140 seat Fishmongers' Recital Hall with state of the art acoustics, complete with a Steinway Concert Grand Piano, which is available for competitors.
Gresham's have generously made the whole of the Britten Building, which includes a cafe and social spaces, available to Rotary for the Young Musician Competition.
It is an outstanding opportunity for young aspiring musicians to enjoy the experience of playing in the most modern of recital halls, with facilities far exceeding almost any other school in the country, an opportunity that should not be missed.
Entry is free and for details of how to enter and who is eligible, contact the Competition Organiser John Rampling of the Rotary Club of Holt and District 01263 712146 or rampling233@btinternet.com
A Special Child
Church bells ring out in the cold, frosty air, Like a jubilant, festive revue. Christmas is just round the corner, With so many things still to do. It’s easy to forget the real reason We give thanks, many places on Earth, For this wonderful, magical time of the year, We rejoice in a special Child’s birth. Many children are no longer taught, About He who saved all of Mankind. They have presents and parties at Christmas, That’s all that they have on their minds! Many complain Christmas items Are on sale much too early each year. They talk of ‘commercialisation’, But we all need some time to prepare. Most families start shopping early, To make sure Christmas is a success. If they leave it too long, the best will have gone, And their children will not be impressed! We’ll enjoy all the anticipation, Preparing for this Christmas tide. When families and friends come together, To give thanks and praise this special Child. Frances Wraight

Theatre expansion project ready to take centre stage A popular pint-sized seaside theatre is set to press ahead with its plan to get a little bit bigger.

Sheringham Little Theatre aims to add a multipurpose room on a flat roof to give more space for rehearsals, meetings, overspill from its Hub café bar, and for community hire.

In 2018 the venue aims to top up funding including from grants and make a start on building.
Chairman Richard Ellis told the annual meeting “Forty per cent of the funding is in the bag, from tax rebates and a community contribution from a housing development in the town. We are fine-tuning the costs and will be seeking grants for the balance, with the aim of making a start in 2018,”he added.

Other highlights from the past year included: • The theatre returning a small profit – around £3000 – having reduced its reliance on council funding, but for which it was still grateful to plug a funding gap. • Successful summer drama and panto seasons, and better attendances for cinema and satellite screenings. • A trustees “away day” which prioritised: drawing up a fundraising strategy; increasing theatre comfort including seating; improving the website and ticketing system; and planning for the diamond anniversary of its summer drama season in 2020.
Mr Ellis praised the efforts of the theatre staff and army of volunteers without whom it could not survive. He was re-elected chairman, and Lord Walpole as president for a 44th consecutive year.
Theatre director Debbie Thompson reported a busy year including a community production of Oliver in tribute to theatre stalwart Mike Thame which “showed Sheringham Little Theatre at its best” with all generations working together.
New ventures – some resulting from public feedback at last years’ annual meeting – included special Halloween events, children’s shows and amateur dramatics.
Plans were progressing for 2018’s summer season and panto, while a youth production of Bugsy Malone would harness a new wave of younger children, she added.

Award-winning Nurse Practitioner set to tread the boards with two other all in all it's great fun and a thrill to do with family members at Sheringham Little Theatre
Award-winning Nurse Practitioner Mrs Carol Manson, from the Mundesley Medical Centre, is set to make Stage Direct's latest production a family affair by joining her husband Nigel and his son Jamie on stage at Sheringham Little Theatre.
Stage Direct are in the throes of rehearsals for Alan Ayckbourn's set of five short plays Confusions, which is full of the twists and dark amusing turns that Ayckbourn is famous for. Mrs Manson won an East of England award in October for her outstanding contribution to Primary Care in 2017 and was successful in being a cut above some 500 other surgeries. She joined Stage Direct about 9 years ago, but this year is delighted to star alongside other family members. The two plays that the family will perform in together are Between Mouthfuls and A Talk in the Park,
performed with other cast members.

Mr Manson said "I am not only very proud of Carol's professional achievements, but it's also a privilege to be able to work alongside a very talented actress on stage too. All the cast in this production work tirelessly on being the best they can be. We all have to work during the day doing what we do but somehow they all turn out week after week in the dark at this time of year to go through the rehearsals which takes a lot of
Carol Manson "I don't know what all the fuss is about. I am very pleased to be recognised for what I do, but it is what I do. I love performing on stage but doing it with your hubby can be interesting, albeit a trifle testing at times. But
very special people."
Another cast member involved has swapped roles from writer/ producer this time. Ashley Burgoyne has effortlessly drifted into acting roles in two of the plays and is rising to the challenge, albeit a very wordy one!
The production consists of five short plays Mother Figure, Drinking Companion, Between Mouthfuls, Gosforth's Fete and A Talk in the Park. Each play deals with the eccentricities of humanity: dilemma, loneliness, fraught dining experiences, a fete that ends disastrously and finishes with five odd characters on park benches. Dark and yet deliciously humorous this will be a treat for the senses!
Under the very capable directing talents of Derek Bull, the five plays in Confusions will be performed at the Little Theatre on 19 & 20 January at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Little Theatre Box Office on 01263 822347 or online from their website at www.sheinghamlittletheatre.com

Scrap in Stamp Duty Land Tax for First Time Buyers
The Government have announced in the Autumn Budget, plans to cut Stamp Duty Land Tax for first-time buyers in the hope of easing the current housing crisis. Chancellor Philip Hammond declared the plans in an effort to help first-time buyers struggling to get on the property ladder.
The change has been introduced as new data shows that Stamp Duty Land Tax alone blocks 45,000 house purchases each year. It has been welcomed by many as there are concerns that the property market is at risk of coming to a standstill, and with the increase to interest rates, this is seen as a beneficial change to the home buying process.
What is Stamp Duty Land Tax? Stamp Duty Land Tax is a tax paid on the purchase of both residential and commercial properties, if over a certain value, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You pay the tax when you: • Buy a freehold property • Buy a leasehold property • Buy a property through a shared ownership scheme • Are transferred land or property in exchange for payment, e.g. you take on a mortgage or buy a share in a house
What are the changes? • Stamp duty to be abolished immediately for first-time buyers purchasing properties worth up to £300,000 • In London and other expensive areas, the first £300,000 of the cost of a £500,000 purchase by first-time buyers will be exempt from stamp duty
As per the HMRC's guidelines, in order to count as a first-time buyer, you must not, either alone or with others, have previously acquired a major interest in a residential dwelling or an equivalent interest in land situated anywhere in the world. This includes previous
acquisitions by inheritance or gift, or by a financial institution. If the property is purchased jointly, all the purchasers must meet these conditions.
Will this measure help the housing Rosemary Farman crisis? Whilst the temporary relief period that ran from March 2010 - March 2012 shows the cut in Stamp Duty Land Tax can be successful in enticing first-time buyers, it is not the only factor affecting them today.
First-time buyers still face the struggle of saving for the deposit needed as part of the purchase, mainly due to the ratio of property prices to incomes doubling over the last 30 years. As such, many receive a gift from parents or grandparents to aid towards the deposit and therefore allowing them to purchase their first home.
Many also now face the effect of the rise in interest rates, which are the highest they have been in five years. This will have a direct impact on mortgage rates, meaning monthly repayments are likely to be higher, and this is just another thing for potential home owners to consider when deciding whether to buy their first home.
Alongside the current changes impacting the country it remains to be seen if this will have the desired effect on the market, however any help for first-time buyers in this economy is certainly welcomed!

“It Brings Us All Together”: Participatory Dance Workshops Improve Wellbeing For Older People In Norfolk New creative activities to support the health of vulnerable older people in parts of Norfolk is paying dividends as research shows a marked increase in personal wellbeing as a result of taking part.
Since October, the ‘Our Day Out’ project for residents of Breckland and North Norfolk, delivered by arts and community development charity Creative Arts East,,has been working with Rambert, recognised world leaders in contemporary dance, to provide dance workshops for older people, particularly those living with dementia, and the sessions have been a huge success.
Funded by the Spirit of 2012 Trust, alongside contributions from Norfolk County, Breckland and North Norfolk Councils, 'Our Day Out' is a fantastic programme, engaging vulnerable older people through high quality participatory arts sessions, delivered by professional artists.
The latest sessions, taking place twice a month in Attleborough, Dereham, Watton, Thetford, Wells-next-the-sea and North Walsham, are a special collaboration with international dance company Rambert, where participants enjoy gentle music and movement workshops in a safe, inclusive and dementia-friendly environment.
22
Measuring the programme’s impact through a nationally-recognised wellbeing scale, Creative Arts East found that after participating in ‘Our Day Out’ 95% of people created new social connections, 93% shared positive experiences, 80% have engaged with the arts and 78% felt better about themselves. Overall 70% had shown an increase in their wellbeing as a result.
One participant said “Sometimes I forget my words when I talk to people, but when I am here I don’t have to worry about that because everyone here is understanding – it’s a safe place to be.”
As well as the bi-monthly participatory sessions, participants have seen one of Rambert’s most acclaimed works, Ghost Dances, at Norwich Theatre Royal, and on 13th December were taken to London for an exclusive tour of Rambert’s headquarters where they had behind-the-scenes access to the award-winning building, including the costume department, rehearsal studios and archive rooms.
Sarah, one of the workshop facilitators said “The ‘Our Day Out’ sessions are an opportunity for people to come together, move together, to socialise in a safe environment. The most important thing for me as a leader is that we feel safe enough to
be as we are and accept everyone as they are. I think that the theme of Rambert’s Ghost Dances has offered a lot of scope for people to connect on some level, whether it’s enjoying the music, the types of movement or enjoying the exploration of some of those wider themes as well.”
Creative Arts East is delivering ‘Our Day Out’ until 2019. From January to March 2018 the groups will be taking part in singing sessions with Norfolk-based singing duo Mary and Kim. They will be encouraging participants to lend their voice to familiar songs from yesteryear, experience new styles, and even try their hand at song-writing. These sessions will culminate in a special ‘Big Sing’ concert, bringing all the groups together at Dereham Memorial Hall on 29 March. ‘Our Day Out’ welcomes all older people, no previous experience necessary, and Creative Arts East is keen to welcome new participants, particularly when the new sessions begin in January. If you, or someone you know would like to find out more about joining or volunteering for the project, then please get in touch with Lea Schiller at Creative Arts East on 01953 713390 or email lea@creativeartseast.co.uk for more information.

CROMER FLOWER CLUB
We welcomed demonstrator Jo Poulten to our November meeting - her subject
was ‘Picture This’. We all enjoyed her lively manner as she interpreted great works of art with flowers. First was Birth of Venus, using muted colours of pink antirrhinums, alchemillas and agapanthus representing the sea and finished with bazaar chrysanthemums . Next was the Piata, all in white, we especially liked the bouvardia, as well as the roses and canna lilies all in a lovely over-arm bouquet. Then she made a colourful and beautiful Dutch Master with lathyrus. Antirrhinums, astilbe, salvias, candy avalanche roses, carnations and cabbage roses. The great wave of Kanagawa was featured next, bamboo and phormium leaves making the wave and then decorated with chrysanthemums and sea holly. Obviously, we had to have the Sunflowers and this was prettily arranged with conifers, large ivy leaves and choisya around the base. Lastly we had Gauguin’s Tahitian Women on the Beach with cordylines, antirrhinums all under a very clever palm leaf sunshade. The vote of thanks was given by Anne Daniels. We all wish Jo good luck with her miniature schnauzer puppies, Margot and Monty - we all know she won’t be able to resist having two! The competition winner was Shirley Longlands with a varied foliage arrangement in a glass vase. Members Christmas wrapped 40 boxes of chocolates as gifts for Halsey House residents

Santa’s Fundraising Finale
Santa Paws made time in his hectic schedule to deliver presents to the dogs Christmas Party hosted by Animal Magic Dog Club. The club has been busy fundraising all year, supporting local good causes and the chosen beneficiary for the party was DogLost, Norfolk & Suffolk Branch. This volunteer led organisation does an incredible job of assisting in the search and return of dogs reported lost or stolen in our region. If the worst happens and you lose your beloved pet, they are the first people to turn to for help.
Great fun was had at the party raising £500, which DogLost will use to buy specialist wildlife cameras. These cameras will enable them to remotely monitor feeding stations to see if they’re being visited by the 24
missing dog which will assist in their capture.
The club will also be arranging for their final food delivery of the year to Norfolk Strays who we have been supporting throughout 2017. Another amazing local organisation that saves stray dogs who remain unclaimed from being put to sleep.
Thank you to all members who have supported our fundraising efforts throughout the year, we wish you and your dog a very Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all at the start of our new training term in January.
Animal Magic Dog Club based near North Walsham is a fun, family orientated club offering a wide range of training for puppies, junior and adult dogs.

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
As we approach the end of 2017 it is time to reflect on what we have been doing to help cats and kittens in the very large area that we cover.
At the time of writing, we have had 192 cats in care, their ages ranging from newborn to 12 years old. Over 160 of these are now in new homes with a further three also reserved. Some of these have been long term residents in the cat pens and, although we were delighted to see them go, we have missed them. Cats like Harvey, our lovely FIV positive lad who needed an indoor home and Beth, a very timid cat who is now settled with Justyna, one of our volunteers, who is happy to allow her to take time to settle in her own time and on her own terms. Keifer and Kia, two lovely black cats that came in from a colony, will also have left for their new home together with lovely people who have had timid cats before and appreciate it will be several weeks before they accept their new lifestyle. It can take weeks [or even months]for this to happen but is especially rewarding when it does.
Several cats have needed treatment at the vets, mainly for dentals, although this year there have been several with eye problems, two of which have needed surgery for ingrown lashes. Nutsey, one of these, is also having treatment to resolve a allergy problem and cannot be put up for adoption until this is resolved. Theo, an active young kitten, came into care with a nasty fracture and needed weeks of cage rest with Bren, one of our volunteers.
On two occasions this year we have answered cries for help from people with too many cats. The circumstances have been different but in both instances we have been able to help. In the first instance 12 kittens came into care and we paid for the adults to be neutered. The second is ongoing with 13 already with us and 2 more to come in. In this case the owner is in hospital and the landlord had to get her consent before we could help. All are friendly cats, unusual in these situations.
As well as our special Neutering Campaign, Cats’ Protection policy is now to pay for neutering of all kittens that leave before they are old enough for the operation. It’s another good reason to give a home to one of our cats or kittens. Our Adoption Fee is very reasonable and is the same for all, irrespective of age or colour, and they will have been to the vets, treated for fleas and worms, vaccinated and chipped.
Jams, Chutneys and Pickles 7 West Street, Cromer. tel: 01263 519 039 Open Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who helps or supports us and wish them a Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 it (to see if you are eligible for a voucher). This number is for vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number also applies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign.
If you are looking for a cat or kitten (or have any other queries) please give Stephanie a call on 01692 535858. Alternatively, you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk/ for a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a call on the above number to find out where any particular cat is being fostered.
We are now on Facebook. You can find us under Cats Protection North Walsham.
Hedgehog Haven
Just when I thought there would be no more hedgehogs coming in this year, along came Kath on 3 December. At less than 300grms she would not have survived the winter months outside.
Overwintering can be very rewarding but should not be undertaken lightly. Here are a few tips about what is needed: • • • •
a constant temperature of approximately 18oC day and night a quiet environment a suitable hutch or cage someone you can contact – either a vet or a carer in case the hedgehog needs medication • keep a chart and weigh regularly • and finally remember you are dealing with a wild animal - they are messy and will need cleaning out at least once a day, preferably twice.
On behalf of myself and the 35 hedgehogs in care, I wish you all a Happy Christmas.
