The beautiful weather combined with the crowds of people walking along the promenade meant that all the stall holders did a roaring trade all day. There were many activities to wow the crowds including an afternoon display by both of Cromer RNLI’s lifeboats. The boats were joined by Sheringham RNLI to the delight of the assembled crowds.

Overstrand Village School - pupils take a trip down memory lane
Seven former pupils of the Belfry School were invited for afternoon tea at the Belfry Centre for Music and Arts, in Overstrand to bring back to life their school days in Overstrand. The guests, who were aged between their mid 80s and 94, attended the school in the 1930s and 1940s.

Tales of the visit of the dreaded school dentist Mr Sumpter were brought back to life with the occasional shudder as the group recalled the arrival of the old grey caravan pulled by a horse being parked in the school playground and then class by class the pupils were lined up to be taken one by one into the caravan to see the dentist. Dangerous escapades on a bicycle down the school playground and the rather damp and dark outside toilets also came to L to R: John Bacon, Derek Paul, Jill Cox, light. Molly Pardon, Lou Green, John Worthington Molly Pardon recalled that and Roland Bacon the classrooms had a coal Photo: Martin Dennis fire, which was lit in the morning by the school caretaker and although warm on a cold winter’s day they did little to keep the classroom warm. Derek Paul remembers his father being the school caretaker for a while and recalls his father setting and lighting the fires. Who kept them going during the day was not mentioned so we must assume that either the caretaker came in once or twice a day or that perhaps the teacher gave instruction to a pupil to throw on a little more coal. The group told stories about daily life at the Belfry School during WW2 and recalled child evacuees from London who arrived in Overstrand and for a time went to school in the village, increasing the class sizes but it seems all the children mixed and played happily together.
Today’s school is very different to the days remembered by the group and soon the children who attend the Belfry School along with the public will be able to hear the stories told by the group as an audio recording. This will form part of an exhibition at the Belfry Centre (the Old Belfry School) on the history of the school and the village of Overstrand.

Now retired, he has many memories of his long career as a novice teacher through to his years as a Headmaster. His placements took him from one end of the country to the other, from the Isle of Wight to Northumberland, and to places in between, and to many different schools. His memories, some sad and some hilarious, he summed up as “happy, sad and mad”.
These included burst pipes, a hurricane which felled the oldest existing cedar in the country, identical twins who swapped identities for the day, a strange incident involving a starting pistol which caused the school pianist to fall to the floor, and a very sad incident of a child with an undeclared heart defect who died in a swimming pool. The recent trip to Sandringham was greatly enjoyed by everyone who went. Our member who organised a beach clean reported a very worthwhile morning’s work by members, visitors and villagers. Several large bags supplied by NNDC were filled. Well worth doing towards the `war on plastic` and will undoubtedly be repeated.
Our delegate reported on the Annual meeting in Cardiff where the resolution on parity for Mental Health being on a par with any other health problems was passed. Overstrand WI will be following this up by informing themselves of ways in which they can promote parity in our own community with speakers and information gathering. The craft meeting, always in August, will be taken over by a demonstration of flower arranging and then members will make their own Flower Arrangement.
We also look forward to a Garden Party at one of the member’s home during August. Our meetings are on third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall, Overstrand. New members from the area always welcomed.
Cromer Times 547 August 11th 2018
CROMER AND DISTRICT GARDEN SOCIETY It has been a busy few weeks for members.
On one of the hottest afternoons in what has been an exceptionally hot summer 25 members visited Peter Beales Roses in Attleborough to see their display gardens. The roses looked fantastic. Simon White gave us a tour of the gardens and was able to add some interesting anecdotes on the development of the gardens. He has worked for Peter Beales Roses for over 35 years so has seen it grow from a relatively small company to one of the country’s foremost rose growers.
In mid July on another very hot afternoon members had a walk around Beeston Common with Simon Harrap from ‘Natural Surroundings’ of Bayfield near Holt. This site of special scientific interest contains hundreds of wild flowers and many of them were at their best. Simon has written the definitive book on British wild flowers so we were lucky to hear details about the flowers on the common from an expert. The common was surprisingly wet in places given the very dry weather in June and July but this helps to explain the uniqueness of the place as it is home to a huge variety of plants.
Two trips, two experts in their subjects – what more could you ask!! If you haven’t visited this wild flower oasis in North Norfolk then please do but be sure to take a guidebook with you as the variety of plants you will see is enormous. The speaker at our July meeting was Martin
Davey who until recently taught at Easton College. He was a last minute replacement for our advertised speaker who had to withdraw at short notice. His topic was ‘Pests and Diseases’. Most gardeners are familiar with the pests that do their best to undo the hard work put in through the year but it was interesting to see them at close quarters and to get tips on the best ways to control them. Nowadays the number of chemical controls available to gardeners is much reduced because of recent legislation but it was nice to hear of some unconventional ways to get rid of unwanted pests. Spent coffee grounds are supposed to deter slugs and snails from attacking young plants, a solution of 10:1 water and semi-skimmed milk will help with powdery mildew and the same proportions of water and mouthwash will control rust in roses, pelargoniums and fuchsias. Nematodes are very small worms that can be used, when applied at the right time, to control vine weevil, slugs and snails, various aphids and chafer grubs. They are not cheap though.
Some of the pests are much larger than bugs and aphids. Rabbits and particularly deer are frequent visitors to gardens in Cromer nowadays and there is little that can be done to control them that doesn’t involve considerable expense. There are some good guys, however, and it is important that they encouraged where possible. Wasps, hover flies, lacewings and ladybirds will eat greenflies and blackflies
and having a bird friendly garden will also help to keep down unwanted pests.
We have no meeting in August. Our meeting in September is our members’ autumn show. The weather has not been kind to gardeners so far this summer so it is to be hoped that there will be enough in our gardens by the second week in September to cheer us up. Happy gardening!

WHY CHOOSE SILVER SIL VER & W WARD ARD SOLICIT ORS in 201 ? 201 ? SOLICITORS
“It’s a recurrent misconception that a larger firm is better.
I am Clare Mayell and I own Silver and Ward Solicitors in Sheringham. I am an extremely competent and experienced solicitor. I appreciate that any time of the year can be a difficult difficult time for many people to resolve legal issues of worry and concern, for example, making a will or Lasting Power of Attorney. As I have worked for 2 larger local firms I know what clients want and expect. My charges are significantly less than other solicitors in North Norfolk or Norwich and I provide 22 years of expertise and exceptional service. I pride myself in being one of the only solicitors who offers offers a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT APPOINTMENT,, so clients can come in and obtain some initial advice and discuss costs and then make an informed decision. At a larger firm you just pay more. When a client rings or walks through the door they invariably get to speak to me as this personal and direct approach is important to my clients and I. I ensure complete confidentiality is an absolute priority. I advise new clients to “shop around as I know that my charges are significantly less than other solicitors but I can offer offer the same expertise, if not better. I have and can act for clients across Norfolk and the Country as we now have the use of Skype, emails etc. so it enables me to act for clients further afield. The reason that clients, near and far, instruct Silver and Ward is because of my expertise, exceptional service and competitive costs.
“I would say to any potential client with a legal issue or worry in 201 to come and meet me face to face for a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT, as you have nothing to lose but all to gain.

Show us your skeletons!
Fiona Hewitt, Director, Hayes + Storr
If there is one thing we do very well in the UK it is royal pageantry, and the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle did not disappoint. The event had something to please all the crowds, from ardent royalists to celebrity spotters and those who just like to watch a good parade.
Of course, any royal wedding gives rise to months of allegation and gossip in the tabloid press, and this was no exception. Without even trying to pay attention, it was hard to avoid the embarrassing revelations about Ms Markle’s family members: her difficult relationship with her father; the collusion of her half-sister with paparazzi photographers; her half-brother’s open letter to the Prince warning him against the marriage; and the disappointment of the siblings that they weren’t invited to attend.
But stories of this sort are nothing new, and we don’t have to delve very far into the history of the royals themselves to find some ‘family dysfunctionality’. In the relatively recent past we have seen the abdication of a king in connection with his marriage to an unpopular American divorcee, alleged scandals surrounding Princess Margaret, and of course the divorce of Prince Harry’s own parents and revelations about their unhappy marriage and extra-marital affairs. We are told that Queen Victoria’s children fell out with her as well as with each other, and further back
still, the Prince can claim descent from some who not only disliked their relatives but had them put to death.
In fact, if we are completely honest, which of us doesn’t have the odd skeleton in the family cupboard? Even if family relations currently seem harmonious, a little time spent researching the family tree will often turn up something embarrassing.
When clients come to see us to prepare Wills, they are often very reticent about family problems. Understandably, people are reluctant to disclose details of, for example, squabbling children, ungrateful grandchildren or long-standing rifts with siblings. However, it is very important that we are given all the relevant background information, so we can advise you properly about the distribution of your estate, the possibility of challenges, and what can be done to prevent them.
A disgruntled relative may be able to make a claim against the estate if they are left out of a Will or receive less than they were expecting. If you tell us who they are and why they are being treated differently, we can minimise the chances of them succeeding. Detailed attendance notes on our files, confirmation of your mental capacity and confidential letters explaining your actions will all help.
No doubt the new Duchess of Sussex’s family
issues will soon be forgotten by the tabloids in favour of more up to date scandal. And thankfully, most of us will never suffer public revelations about our own problems. But please remember to tell your solicitor about your skeletons before you put them all back in the cupboard!

Book Launch for Cromer Author
For the past 18 months Cromer author Brenda Stibbons has been editing the diaries of a number of Cromer men who served in the First World War and putting their accounts into a wider context.
The result is the book ‘The Baker Brothers : Diaries from the Eastern Front 1914-1919 – Oliver Locker-Lampson and the Cromer men of the Russian Armoured Car Division’. It was launched at the Old Rock Shop Bistro – the former home as 10, Hamilton Road of George Baker, one of the diarists.
His son George, now in his eighties, had helped greatly in the writing of the account, as he has ensured that many family records have been kept over the years. William, George and Leonard Baker, together with a score of other Cromer and Overstrand men, had volunteered for the Royal Naval Armoured Car Division which had been raised by local land-owner and Member of Parliament Oliver Locker Lampson. Together they would find themselves stranded in the icy wastes of northern Russia before travelling south to the heat and dust of eastern Turkey, Romania and Galicia.
For the young men, many of whom had travelled little before leaving Cromer and boarding a ship at Liverpool to make their way to Archangel – though having to disembark at Alexandrovsk because of sea ice – it must have been an extraordinary experience. Later in the conflict, they would find themselves in the confusing position of supposedly assisting the Russian army but being surrounded by Bolshevik revolutionaries – a situation their diaries suggest they managed with considerable calmness.
Author Brenda Stibbons with George Baker, who has carefully kept the family correspondence and many artefacts since his father From fighting with the armoured cars of the came home in 1919 Royal Navy they found themselves transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and sent off again, this time through the Suez Canal to the oilfields of Baku. George was the last of the brothers to return home in 1919 – arriving in Cromer an hour before the postman brought the letter from the Ministry saying he was missing, believed killed. There must have been great rejoicing and some amusement at 10, Hamilton Road.
‘The Baker Brothers : Diaries from the Eastern Front 1914-1919 – Oliver Locker-Lampson and the Cromer men of the Russian Armoured Car Division’ is available at £14.95 from all local book and museum shops, as well as online from www.poppyland.co.uk.

She would not be safe to be released back into the wild in case she suffered another leg injury that would make her unable to move. So when she's completely recovered she will be in an enclosed area where I will be able to monitor her. Special thanks go to Julia's finders who generously paid for all her treatment.
Pictured is Julia - she came in with a nasty rear right leg injury, in fact there wasn't much left and the bone was jutting out so she was straight away admitted to Westover Vets where it was successfully amputated.
With pain relief & antibiotics she is recovering well and on her check-up visit, the vets were pleased how well it had healed in such a short space of time. It's very neat and doesn't stop her moving about quickly!

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
Last time I mentioned some of the cats in care that were not on our waiting list and am now happy to report that Rosy, Max and Mittens have been given clean bills of health and are available for adoption. Mittens did need to have several teeth removed but is already feeling more comfortable. Charley, the other cat mentioned who has skin problems is making good progress and will hopefully also be available for adoption soon.
Two of the kittens mentioned last time have not responded well to socialisation and will now be looking for a new home either on a farm or stables. Before they leave us, they will be vaccinated, chipped and neutered and the new home will be inspected to ensure they have a warm place to sleep and will be fed each day. We also insist they are confined for the first few weeks to ensure they are familiar with their new surroundings and are aware that they will be fed on a regular basis. We know from past experience that once they have settled and have their freedom, they are much happier and they learn to trust their carers and in time will be happy to have contact with them. Two of the other kittens that came in about the same time, also from an outside situation, have responded well to contact with their fosterer and are now very playful and loving. Unlike the previous two these kittens were not aggressive but just very scared when they first arrived.
The Cats Protection Veterinary Department are always looking for ways to ensure that the cats in our care receive the very best treatment and, as well as advising on general matters (flea and worm treatment for instance) they, from time to time, suggest improvements we can make for cats in our care, or who we are helping. One recent suggestion was to offer additional pain relief for cats needing an operation, either routine neutering or for any other operation needing an anaesthetic. As a consequence, we are hoping to introduce a system with all five vets we use to ensure the cats have pain relief for two days (or more if the vets feel it is necessary) after their operation. The Bridge and Westover have
already agreed to administer this on our behalf and both Rosy and Mittens came back with the medication after their operations. Once we have the procedure in place we will discuss with the other three vets that we use. This will also be given to any cat that is neutered under the special neutering scheme.
Mittens, a very friendly cat who just loves attention and cuddles

Stuff of Dreams Theatre Company presents
AN OPEN AIR MUSICAL PLAY ABOUT EAST ANGLIA’S VERY OWN HIGHWAYMAN
Stuff of Dreams Theatre Company are back in North Lodge Park, Cromer, after a successful summer touring the country with their amazing adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, this time with a new play about a highwayman from Aylsham, An Honest Gentleman.
Little is known of Thomas Easter, except that he was born in ‘Alsumin Norfolk’ in 1715, and was hung at Tyburn 24 years later. However, his was a life packed with adventure and intrigue.
Rosalie Gibb Kingfisher
Penny Farthing Planter
As always, a wide selection of used books will be for sale, as well as teas, coffees and delicious homemade cakes. Entrance is free, there is ample free parking opposite the church. The exhibition has disabled access and is dog friendly.
25 th August 2018, 7pm (£5) North Lodge Park, Cromer northlodgepark.org.uk
From North Norfolk to Putney Heath, Easter plied his trade as a Gentleman of the Road, ‘raising contributions upon the public’ and from the little that is known was a dashing and charming rogue; ’I rob the rich to give to the poor’. Ultimately betrayed by an accomplice and comrade, he danced the hangman’s jig.
An Honest Gentlemen takes you on a rollicking Georgian adventure as Stuff of Dreams delves into the life and times of the Highwaymen of the 18thCentury. There will be wine, women and song, and where facts are scarce, there will be glorious embellishment.
“Reviews of A Midsummer Night's Dream were unbelievable,” says Barry Meadows of the Friends of North Lodge Park, “the audience really loved Stuff of Dreams production so we're really looking forward to welcoming them back at the end of August for this new play”.
Audiences are welcome to bring picnics, blankets and low chairs! Tickets: £5 advance / £8 on the day available online or from Merchants' Place in Cromer. Suitable for ages 10 and up. stuffofdreamstheatre.com northlodgepark.org.uk

CROMER FLOWER CLUB
This July we welcomed Terrie Potter on an ‘Attic Attack’. Although it was a bit too hot to be up there she found an old vanity case which once held her wedding dress. So thinking of weddings she filled it with ivy, myrtle and white astilbes to create an outline and then, hosta leaves and white anastacia chrysanthemums for a beautiful bouquet. Next she dug out a bamboo three wheeler bicycle which brought back memories of a trip to China.
For this arrangement she used ferns, fountain grass, phormium and begonia leaves. The flowers were deep pink carnations and gold chrystanthemums (very suitable for China) onions on kebab sticks were a late addition as well as some model chickens as these get moved around on bikes!
Up in the roof were some dried fatsia stems so next she made a woodland arrangement in knitted hammock made with more bits from up above. Golden jasmine and variegated box were the foliage. Purple clematis, passion flowers, pink hydrangeas and lovely pink orchids were the flowers. Then a 35 year old large basket turned up with some material to decorate it to make a rainbow backdrop for the display of fatsia, giant phormium leaves physocarpus, sunflowers and stunning lemon fizz roses and amaranthus.
Next was a vase that had not yet made the attic, but was on the way. It was filled with felt wire sails, aspidistra leaves, red lilies, leptospermum and pink carnations. To finish we went tropical with a section of a coco de mer nut. Palm leaves, fatsia leaves, spotted laurel, orange lilies with wonderful birds of paradise, the orange rose confidential and to contrast blue larkspur. The vote of thanks was given by Janice Pope.
Northern Soul fans join Kaiden’s Big Fight
Northern Soul night, Keep the Faith, returns to Cromer Community Centre on 1 September. The club itself may be all about classic soul music and dancing but, as always, proceeds from the event will be funnelled to a local charity. On this occasion, organisers and resident DJs, Piers ‘Hitman’ Hawkins and Trevor Half-Nelson are proud to be raising money for ‘Kaiden’s Big Fight’.
Kaiden lives with a condition called CHD, which affects his heart, and among other things, restricts his ability to regulate his body temperature. Despite medical expectations, Kaiden has recently turned five and the charity that his parents established now not only provides equipment, medicines and trips out for other children living with CHD, but also raises money towards research into the condition.
For the first time, KTF will hold a raffle on the night, following the generous gift of a pair of weekend passes for the Sunny Hunny soul weekender in late November.
With additional prizes donated by Holt Vinyl Vault, and Cromer Soul Club, the hosts hope this will be a record-breaking edition of KTF.
Best in show in our competition ‘Antique’ was won by Liz Crane with a very pretty arrangement in a silver candelabra of agapanthus flowers, gypsophila and pittosporem. It was marked 10 out of 10.
The club news is that Liz Crane is the new secretary, Jill Breeze is on publications and Val Kirkwood is manning the plant stall. There is no meeting in August although members will be busy decorating the Carnival Queen’s float. Our next meeting is on 17 September when we welcome Vicki Hease on ‘That’s what it’s for’. Be at the Primary School at 7.20pm.
Tickets (£5) can be purchased in advance from Cromer Tourist Information (cash only) and Holt Vinyl Vault, or on the door on 1 September. Doors open at 7.30pm.
For more information about Kaiden’s Big Fight, visit his Facebook page, which includes a wonderful and very moving video made by Kaiden’s family.

RIP CuRREnTS
Rips are strong currents that can quickly take swimmers from the shallows out beyond their depth. Lifeguards will show you where you can avoid rips but if you do get caught in one: stay calm – don’t panic if you can stand, wade don’t swim keep hold of your board or inflatable to help you float raise your hand and shout for help never try to swim directly against the rip or you’ll get exhausted swim parallel to the beach until free of the rip, then make for shore if you see anyone else in trouble, alert the lifeguards or call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
TIDES
A beach can seem like a vast playground, but the tide can come in surprisingly quickly. Many lifeboat and lifeguard rescues are to people getting cut off by the rising water. To prevent this happening to you, get local tidal information from the Harbour Master or the Tourist Information Centre. Always keep a look out for the direction of the tide while on the beach. Just be aware ... and if in doubt, move out!

MP DEMANDS END TO ‘HOLIDAY HOMES’ TAX LOOPHOLE AS NORTH NORFOLK LOSES ÂŁ1.8 MILLION Norman Lamb is demanding an end to a loophole which allows homeowners to avoid paying tax on second homes, after new figures revealed that it is costing North Norfolk District Council a staggering ÂŁ1.8 million this year alone. In England, any property that is ‘available to let’ for 140 days or more per year can be registered as a holiday business. Holiday homes with a rateable value of less than ÂŁ12,000 are eligible to receive 100% small business rate relief, meaning that the owners do not have to pay any tax on the property.
North Norfolk District Council revealed that 1,302 second-home holiday lets are claiming 100% small business rate relief in 2018-19 –
at a cost of ÂŁ1,873,998. The figures were disclosed following a freedom of information request from Norman Lamb MP.
While many of these properties will be genuine holiday homes, the ease of registering a property as a holiday home and claiming full business rate relief leaves the system open to abuse by second-home owners who are seeking to avoid paying council tax. Commenting on the figures, Norman Lamb MP said “It is completely unreasonable that hard-pressed residents in North Norfolk are paying higher council tax bills to fund vital local services, while some owners of second homes that are registered as holiday lets are
HELPING THE DISABLED OVERSEAS
Rotary in Aylsham has recently launched a new initiative with Physionet, an organisation that helps the disabled overseas.
Physionet is an all-volunteer charity collecting redundant physiotherapy and mobility items from around the UK and distributing them in 40ft long containers to developing countries around the world. The organisation has been given the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
In the first 10 years of operation the charity sent over 5,400 items of special needs equipment , approximately 5,300 wheelchairs and some 2,500 mobility items to Eastern Europe , African counties , India, Sri Lanka and the Pacific Islands. By weight, some 2,500 tons of equipment was saved from scrap.
Rotary in Aylsham has agreed to identify and collect items locally and elsewhere in North Norfolk. Already, more than 50 items have been dispatched. These are collected regionally and then transported to headquarters in North Yorkshire, where items are cleaned, repaired and renovated as necessary before despatch abroad. Partner organisations at the destinations coordinate transport and distribution so that Physionet does not bear those costs.
We are therefore seeking redundant wheelchairs (even if damaged or broken), walking frames and walkers, crutches and walking sticks and other equipment which may be of use. We appeal to care homes, surgeries and individuals to get in touch with our co-ordinator to arrange collection or to obtain further information – Ian Stevenson at idstevenson@rocketmail.com or telephone 01692 402440.

getting away with paying no tax at all on that property.
“This loophole is costing North Norfolk District Council a staggering sum of money which could be spent on social care, children’s services or other essential support.
“It is far too easy for second-home owners to bend the rules under the current system. This is particularly galling in a low-wage economy like North Norfolk, where it is critically important that everyone is making a fair contribution. We cannot afford a system that is open to abuse in this way, which is why these rules need reform as a matter of urgency.

The Hospital fete held on 30 June was once again a tremendous success, helped by the glorious weather. Between the Hospital staff and the Friends a total of £4912.88 was raised.
The Hospital also received on the day a cheque for £15,000 in memory of Anna Bailey. This is being used to purchase urgently needed equipment for the Muriel Thoms Procedure Unit.
We would like to thank the Hospital staff, members of the Friends Committee and helpers for all their hard work in preparation and on the actual day. Thanks also to all the local businesses and individuals who donated the many raffle prizes and to all the local people and organisations who took part and gave their time to support the day.

GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY YIELDS FUNDS FOR CHARITY
When Paul and Christine Damen recently celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in Paston, they requested that guests not bring presents but donate to local charity.
Cheque presentation to ‘Friends of Mundesley Lifeboat’ - L to R – Jan Francis, Christine and Paul Damen, Wendy Copping (Chair of ‘Friends’), Di Spray, Liz Payne
As a result, £155 was raised for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and £175 for the Mundesley Independent Volunteer Lifeboat.
Mundesley Inshore Lifeboat is one of over 35 independent lifeboat stations nationally (ie not affiliated to the RNLI), being one of four within the county of Norfolk. It has ‘Declared Facility’ status, which means that HM Coastguard will call the lifeboat and crew to emergencies in the same way as other emergency services. The crew are trained and equipped for sea and flood rescue situations and work closely with other lifeboats and rescue helicopters.
Mr and Mrs Damen will be running the Lifeboat’s bookstall along with other helpers at the annual Mundesley ‘Boat Day’ in Gold Park on Sunday 12 August. Further details of this fundraising event can be found at www.mundesleylifeboat.co.uk, along with more information about the service and its supporters. It is notable that the whole organisation in run by unpaid volunteers in support of local communities.

Non-surgical face lift available at the Coltishall Cosmetic Clinic
Is it possible to have great results and a face lift without surgery? “If you had asked this question a few years ago- I would have said no. But today, in 2018, I can say yes” says Dr Gheyi, Medical Director at the Coltishall Clinic.
A face lift only tightens loose skin, it does not replace lost volume from the face which is probably the most important component of facial ageing. It will not improve skin texture or tone either. We are increasingly using volumisation of the face in addition to skin tightening which if performed without volume restoration gives a tight but not a natural look. I prefer a natural look for my patients.
We are very impressed by the latest offering in the restylane range Restylane Volyme. “I have not seen anything like it”. He says. It lifts your face in an instant and the results are great. It is being hailed as something of a breakthrough. It is performed under local anaesthesia and takes about 30 minutes. You can then walk away with a rejuvenated natural look and years taken off your face. As it is a deeper filler, there is usually no bruising or redness.
It is an alternative to permanent cheek implants which can be problematic as they sometimes cause infection or move, creating asymmetry in the face. Although fat can be used to transfer into the face and add volume, deep filler is the only method available to achieve a similar result without the need for surgery.
Restylane Volyme is the brand name for an injectable form of hyaluronic acid specially formulated for facial contouring. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is found in the connective tissue of our skin and along with collagen forms the building blocks of healthy tissues. As it is totally natural component of our skin, no allergy test is required. Restylane is
the most popular facial filler in the world today and has been used in over 15 million treatments. It has a proven safety record. The result from the treatment is immediate and can last more than a year.
It is different from other fillers which are commonly uses to soften lines and wrinkles. Restylane Volyme is injected in a deeper plane to achieve a lifting and filling effect on cheeks and chin.
Another exciting development is the use of botox to achieve a defined outline of the jaw. The so called ‘Nefertiti lift’. He also uses these for eyebrow lift to correct drooping eyebrows. A combination of these procedures and other non surgical tools is now capable of producing remarkable results without going under the knife. Everyone is not suitable for these procedures and as we each have our unique features and requirements we tailor our treatments and pick and choose best options from our increasing number of non-surgical treatments.

Cromer Marrams Bowls Club
We can finally begin a report with some very good news! With the ‘guest’ appearance help of Chrissie, the men defeated Stalham in the 2nd leg of the 3-wood knockout cup to reach the FINAL.
News from the Club House ...
Having a 14 shot lead from the home leg Cromer won easily on 2 rinks thanks to David M, James, Roger G, Phil T, Neil C and Roger O for a 61-33 victory. Even with one of the team playing with ‘borrowed’ woods it was a comfortable win, and John H might find his woods in demand! Congratulations to all involved, the final date has yet to be arranged against either Overstrand or Mill Farm.
The Crabs Federation team continue to struggle with a 0-9. 37 shots to 55, defeat at Holt. This was followed by a 0-9, 34 shots to 67 loss at home to Cawston.

The men’s EBA team finally had a bit of a success at Reepham Nomads. After only gaining 3.5 points all season we suddenly got 2 more! Although going down 2-3 (56-60) there were wins on 2 rinks. Bob, James, Andrew and David M won 25-23 and Neil P, David G, Tony and Steve won 18-16. However, at home to champions Fakenham we lost by 0.5 -4.5 points, 40-80 shots. The drawn rink was led by Bob, with Les, Andrew and Derek.
The NANSA team visited Holt and despite only winning on 1 rink and losing on 2 came away with a 4-4 draw due to a higher shot total! The visit to Southrepps was less successful with a 1-7 defeat.
Praise to the 14 players who travelled (by contrasting routes!) on a very hot day to play Watton BC. With a borrowed player we played on 5 rinks and were successful on 3. A 91 -62 victory was greatly helped by a big win, 30-6, by Bob, Roger G and Jean N.
Another very hot day saw the visit of Weybourne BC to our green and we were successful by 2 rinks to 1, 68-38. The ladies in the team were really pleased with themselves!
Unfortunately, we were unable to fulfil our commitment to playing at Wymondham Dell despite Captain Keith’s best efforts and an increased phone bill!
Members continue to compete in rounds of the Club competitions, with many nearing the semi-final stage. As with all cup ties there have been several unpredictable results and some top quality bowling.
New faces are always welcome at the Club. With the green open until the end of September there is still lots of time to come along at 10am any morning or 7pm on a Friday evening (bar open!) for a roll up and see what fun you can have. Membership fees work out at less than £3 per week (that’s less than the £3.50 one roll up costs for 2 hours). More info from Edna 01263 511155.
Friendly matches to watch at Runton Road in the next fortnight are: Sproughton BC Sat 11 August 1.30pm, Watton BC Sat 18 August 2pm and Ladies v Holt BC Wed 22 August 2pm.
League matches at home are (NANSA) Mon 13 August 2pm v Suffield Park, Mon 20 August 2pm v Cawston and Tues 21 August 2pm v West Runton.
