North Walsham Air Cadet Gives First Aid 2110 (North Walsham) Squadron’s newest recruit rendered first aid recently.
Sixteen year old Orson Ayers recently moved into the area and joined the Air Training Corps in April. He was formally enrolled on 23 June by the Squadron Padre, Rev Paul Cubitt. But one of the first things that new cadets do is to get a first aid qualification. Cadet Orson Ayers Orson passed his Heartstart first aid course at the end of April. All staff and cadets do Heartstart as a minimum first aid qualification, many go on to take more advanced qualifications. Shortly after completing his Heartstart course Orson witnessed

an elderly lady fall over in the Market Place, North Walsham. His recent first aid training gave him the knowledge and confidence to go to her assistance. She had suffered a cut head, but otherwise did not seem badly injured. Orson helped to stem the bleeding and stayed with the lady until an ambulance arrived.
Flying Officer Alan Stevens, officer commanding 2110 Squadron said that he was very proud that a cadet had been able to help in this way. “It is a benefit to the whole community that there are young men and women around who are trained in at least basic first aid and CPR techniques.”
North Walsham Air Cadets parade every Monday and Thursday, at North Walsham Primary School, Manor Road, North Walsham, NR28 9HG from 7pm till 9.30pm and welcomes all young people aged between 12 and 18 years. They are currently recruiting Recom cadets and adult volunteers. N Clean

Victor Iterum!
Millfield Primary School in North Walsham celebrated two pupils, who entered the ‘Minimus Mythology Competition 2016’ and were chosen from thousands of entries and won.
Issy Rushen, who was an individual winner in the Art Category, won with a creative and outstanding ‘Medusa’ cake. The judges thought that her top entry had ‘great use of the snakes and was an evil-looking Medusa.’
Poppies Nursery
The children at Poppies Nursery, North Walsham have been harvesting potatoes in our vegetable garden.
They washed and skinned them ready for Mandy to cook for their lunch. We are also growing runner beans, broad beans, carrots, peppers and letttuce using seeds donated by our families.
If you would like to know more about the nursery, please visit our Facebook page and website poppieschildrensnursery.co.uk. We have spaces available in September for children aged from 3 months onwards.
Helen Maidment won one of the runners up prizes in the Creative Writing category with a diary entry from Perseus. The judges said ‘ Perseus’ thoughts are clearly demonstrated throughout this diary, which is well ordered and reads smoothly so we know exactly what emotions Perseus is experiencing.’
Mrs Price, who teaches Latin at the school, said “All the entries submitted from the Year 5 and Year 6 Latin groups were all of a high standard. It must have been incredibly difficult to choose. Well done to those that entered, you have kept up our winning tradition – four years in a row, with a new tradition set by Issy, by winning two years in a row!”
Henry Blogg’s boat Q J and J returns to Cromer
After many years of restoration Henry Bloggs old fishing boat has returned to a prominent position overlooking the beach and within sight of the main lifeboat station.
The Q J and J is within the garden of Cromer Town Council and near to the bust of Henry Blogg. As a fitting tribute to one of the most famous lifeboat men in history, his fishing boat has been carefully restored so that future generations will be able to view it.
Unfortunately only half of the boat was in a fit enough condition to enable restoration but the remainder has been cut into smaller pieces and sold to raise money to enable the work to be carried out.

Happisburgh Lifeboat Station
Happisburgh RNLI Lifeboat Station volunteers were called into action by the sounding of their pagers at 3.04pm on Sunday 10 July.
The Coastguards had reports from the public that there were two jet-skies 2 miles out to sea off Happisburgh Church, which had not moved for some time.
Happisburgh Atlantic Lifeboat ‘Joan Mary’ launched at 3.14pm with Tim Grimmer at the helm and Tony Phenix and Charlotte Siely as crew, arriving on scene at 3.24pm, where they found a fishing boat and rib three miles off the
coast with diving flags flying. No one was found onboard either boat so the lifeboat quickly checked the area, found nothing so stood off and awaited the divers to return to the surface.
At 3.55pm six divers returned to the surface and returned to the boats. The lifeboat crew then went alongside to check that all was well and everyone was accounted for. Advice was then given before the lifeboat returned to station, arriving at 4.05pm. The boat was recovered and refuelled and ready for service by 4.30pm. Happisburgh Community Safety Team would like to give some advice to divers:
North Walsham Times 499 July 23rd 2016
• Always have someone on the boat who is capable of operating the boat and radio in the event of a diver getting into difficulty and needing help. If any of the divers had come to the surface in difficulty today then there would have been no-one to get help.
• Between 2010 and 2013, there were 51 fatalities in UK waters. Find out more RLNI.org/respect the water, BSAC.com and PADI.com.
Earlier in the day, the lifeboat Crew had hosted a church service at Cart Gap Station, which was well attended and raised £42 to help the station save lives at sea.

A new service from Norfolk Landscape Gardeners www.norfolklandscapegardeners.co.uk
The changes mean that in coastal car parks payment will be 60p for 30 minutes, £1.50 per hour or £7 for 24 hours. In resort car parks, payment will be 60p for 30 minutes, £1.30 per hour for the first hour and £1 per hour thereafter, or £7 for 24 hours.
New signage for those car parks affected by the change has been created explaining the new charges.
Cllr John Rest, Cabinet Member for Assets, said “This increase in parking charges in coastal and resort car parks will provide a contribution towards various services provided by NNDC.
“These include looking after our Blue Flag beaches, providing public conveniences and maintaining parks and open spaces.
“Season tickets and standard car park charges remain frozen, meaning season ticket holders can park for as little as 54p per day.”

More volunteers needed for Cromer and District Foodbank
Having opened two new distribution centres and met more than 1000 requests for food in the last financial year, the Cromer and District Foodbank is appealing for additional volunteers. “Volunteers are the life blood of our foodbank, says Ella King, Project Manager. “There are vacancies in the warehouse, distribution, fundraising and general admin. They all offer a chance to make a real difference to the lives of local people in financial crisis.
Founded in 2012, the foodbank now works with over 90 partner agencies to offer food, support and signposting across 200 square miles of North Norfolk.
“125 volunteers help us get emergency food to people in real need, Ella says. “We want people to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved.
Anyone who might be able to help is invited to contact Ella by email info@cromerdistrict.foodbank.org.uk or telephone 07826 376343.

Life behind the Front Line with Women at War by Kindra Jones.
Wearing women’s Land Army uniform, Kindra began her presentation by explaining that women filled many essential roles during war time.
At the outbreak of war, the nation was presented with various challenges to normal life. Over one weekend, Norwich received 13 trainloads of evacuees. In 1940, 200,000 children were evacuated from the towns to the countryside. Much of this organisation was left to the WI and WVS.
Next, an early film clip of Princess Elizabeth giving a rallying talk about the war and what lie ahead. Conscription for women began in 1941 especially for those without children. Kindra then explained the various roles for women in the forces, in particular the WRNS.
She donned several articles of WRNS uniform, to explain the different roles the girls were being asked to perform - trousers for girls working at exposed positions, sending signals and crewing open boats and a very thick, heavy raincoat for dispatch riders - at one point in one month dispatch riders in Portsmouth covered 10,000 miles delivering signals to various establishments. She then displayed several other items of WRNS and other women forces clothing.
For the ATS, known as the ‘Fannies’, girls had to be 5ft 4ins or more tall, over 24 years old and intelligent. The last service to accept women was the RAF, who initially only recruited to four trades but by the end of the war had expanded to 70.
During The Battle of Britain, women really came into their own as ‘Plotters’, which was a very demanding role. It was found that
women’s voices carried more clearly over the radio.
Blechley Park known as ‘Station X’ employed lots of WRNS who were all pledged to secrecy. The Women’s Land Army started slowly (we imported 70% of our food, which could not be sustained) and these girls were vital in keeping the farms producing our own food. By the end of the war, their numbers had risen to 80,000. They received ÂŁ1.85 a week, which was paid to them not the farmers, and their work necessitated long hours.
Finally Kindra showed a photo of the Memorial in Whitehall to the Women’s Land Army, which was unveiled by the Queen and Baroness Boothroyd in 2005.
Next month’s subject –‘Edith Cavell’.

Firstly crush the garlic, drizzle a small amount of olive oil in a bowl and mix with the crushed garlic with the sprig of rosemary (or a pinch of dried). Then marinate the chicken breast in this - ideally leave this for 2-3 hours in the fridge - but 20 minutes will give a taste of garlic.
Once your ready to cook your dish, using a frying pan sear the chicken with a small amount of oil in a hot pan for 2-3 minutes each side. Now place it in the oven for 10-12 minutes on 180o.
While this is reducing add a pan of water on the stove to boil ready to blanche the pasta, season water with salt (personal preference).
01263 824555 01263 838383 01263 579579
Now add to shallot, mushroom and bacon the white wine and cream and reduce it down to half the amount to thicken. Season to taste.
Blanche the pasta as soon as the water is to boil for 3-4 minutes if fresh pasta - allow more time if using dried.
In the meantime dice the shallot (or onion), slice the rashers of bacon and mushrooms. Sweat down in a pan with a small amount of oil the shallot, then add the mushrooms and bacon and reduce further.
To serve mix the pasta with the cream sauce and serve the chicken breast on top.

Merchants` Place 10th Anniversary celebration
Merchants' Place Community Resource and Learning Centre in Cromer is celebrating its 10th Anniversary on 10 August.
The centre was opened in 2006 as part of the Community Economic Regeneration initiative, to offer essential services to the people of Cromer and surrounding district. It acts as a community hub offering a comprehensive signposting service for local services, information on learning and training opportunities, business start-up advice and local training provision including Maths, English and IT. It is also widely used by other agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureau, Norfolk Community Law Service, Voluntary Norfolk and Norfolk Community Learning Service.
Since 2006 it has gone from strength to strength, with over 100,000 people contacting the centre or accessing services over its 10-year lifespan. To celebrate this achievement, an Anniversary Open Day is being held on Wednesday 10 August, when Merchants' Place will be open for visitors from 10am to 2pm.
Guests will be invited to look around the centre's facilities, join staff and clients for refreshments and find out about the services the centre offers. Representatives from organisations which currently use the centre - Voluntary Norfolk, Norfolk Community Law Service, the Matthew Project, Young Peoples Advisors and NHS Wellbeing Service - will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice, so this is the ideal opportunity to find out just what does happen at Merchants` Place.
Norfolk Community Learning Services is launching a range of new courses in September 2016, some of which are free. Information about each course and how to enrol will be available on the day. Please drop in.

So much has been going on since the idea was discussed at a Town Council Meeting back in January 2016.
North Walsham Play is now an officially registered charity (Charity Number 1167444), has all its banking arrangements in place and is currently working hard to raise its profile in and around the local community.
With full support from North Walsham Town Council, North Walsham Play is now working hard to work on its mission of supporting the creation of inclusive play equipment and play parks for all who live in (and visit) North Walsham.
The Charity has five priorities in the first instance, which should keep everyone busy for a good few years! They are: • Support the fundraising efforts to be able to design and install a small play area within Woodville Park including two pieces of play equipment accessible to all children (wheelchair accessible roundabout and inclusive basket swing). Area to be fully resurfaced to ensure access 365 days per year.
• Revamp the play park at Trackside Park and introduce 3-4 new pieces of challenge equipment along with interactive game boards, musical instruments and trim trail equipment.
• Improve the fitness equipment provision within the Memorial Park – building on the success of the two pieces installed several years ago and providing access to equipment for young and old alike.
• A complete revamp of the two old play park areas within the Memorial Park – bringing about a totally new and innovative play provision, themed to the needs of the local community whilst at the same time ensuring inclusive play for all.
Speaking to Matthew Smith, Founder of North Walsham Play, he told us why he was so passionate about this project. “I want to see North Walsham have the very best play provision in and around the county. One of our main aims is to provide inclusive play that supports those children with complex needs and/or physical disabilities – for whom at present there is very little for them to access and enjoy.”
Feedback from the current consultation shows very strong support for the project. Some highlights from the consultation are as follows: - A strong desire for multi-age play allowing younger and older children to be able to play within the same play space - Large demand for themed play units and equipment - More outside exercise and fitness equipment - Colourful safety surfaces which allow play spaces to be accessed straight after heavy rain (i.e. no mud etc)
North Walsham Play were present at the recent North Walsham Funday, and were pleased to meet and talk so many members of the local community. The event also raised £100 towards the work of the Charity.
Find out more via our Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/NorthWalshamPlay or contact Matthew on 01692 405796 / nwalshamplay@yahoo.co.uk. We would be keen to hear from individuals and businesses that are able to help and support in anyway possible.
• Further develop the Woodville Park and Trackside Park following feedback from work carried out within Priority 1 and 2. These are ambitious projects but ones that we feel we can achieve with the help and support of those living locally. Not only will North Walsham Play be supporting the town in terms of fundraising, but it also has additional aims of supporting the community by virtue of :
• Research into best play practice from what is currently available on the market
• Consultation with members of the community to ascertain what they would like to see in their parks and open spaces.
• Design work with playground suppliers to ensure we get the most from our fundraising efforts
• Review of any equipment funded to measure its impact.
North Walsham Play will take each priority in turn, and in conjunction with North Walsham Town Council, start fundraising for each as and when the necessary approvals and permissions have been sought. Going forward it is hoped to be able to hold consultation sessions at key points in the future to give all members of the community an opportunity to come and see what’s being planned and ask any questions they might have.
So what’s happening in the next few months? • Representatives from the Charity will be meeting with various local businesses and organisations to inform them of the work being undertaken
• We are currently fundraising for a new small play park at Woodville Park in North Walsham, building on the work initiated by local resident Julie Potter. A design, in terms of equipment and scope, has been approved. Work is now being done with local residents with regards to where best to place said park. Below is a plan of whats to come for Woodville. Equipment to be installed includes wheelchair accessible roundabout, basket swing, trim trail and various interactive game boards. Roald Dahl’s fantastically impicatallated Wurdy Gurdy Machine has broken down. It’s missing parts, falling to pieces and the production of new words and ideas has come to an end.
Children under twelve are invited to come and create missing parts of the machines, inspired by the mechanisms of Heath Robinson and Wallace & Gromit, in libraries throughout North Norfolk. But this is a Wurdy Gurdy Machine so wordalkind helpers are desperately needed to make up for lost time. Help Miss Fluttlewordblurger invent new words, write poems and stories and add to the BFG’s Longest Story. If it is not finished on time the giants will go on a rampage…
The workshops are run by local writer and wordsmith Belona Greenwood and should be the perfect anecdote for children and parents alike looking for something fun and educational to do this up and coming holiday season. We look forward to seeing you there and the reading the amazing results that come

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
Harvey is still with us at present and we will update you when he finds a new family.
Bre, the other little cat mentioned last time, has now been given a clean bill of health. Although her ear is not back to normal and tends to flop, it is not as disfigured as her other ear. The haematoma was probably the result of her scratching to relieve the itching as she had a really serious problem with ear mites. Thankfully this has now been resolved and she too is waiting for someone to come and offer her a loving new home.
We find that at this time of the year, calls for cats to come into care outweigh the number of cats that we can accommodate and, although we would dearly love to help them all, it is not possible to do this. We do have a waiting list of cats to come into care and we try to give priority to the neediest or those at risk. Most charities are in the same situation, so we usually advise people to contact other charities as well, to see if they can help or if they would be willing to add them to their waiting lists too. If the cat needs to come into care because there is a problem we will suggest ways of alleviating the situation until a place can be found for them. This is probably one of the most difficult parts of the work that we do as we would like to be able to help everyone. However, even if we had more cat pens it would still not mean an end to the problem.
One recent addition to our numbers was a young kitten, now re-homed, that was found in someone’s garden. The person who found him was not
Westover Charity Day
Each year Westover Vets selects an animal charity for whom we endeavour to raise funds through a number of community events.
Last year we raised over £800 for PAT animal charity and one of the most successful and enjoyable things we did was to host our own charity dog show. Organised by members of our team and aided by other friends of the practice including the Town Clerk and Mayor, we had a wonderful day on the War Memorial park and generated a lot of awareness for our chosen charity.
This year we will be holding the show from 11am on 21 August, with classes that include cutest puppy, scruffiest mutt and Grooming Parlour dog most like owner, among others. The emphasis is on a fun Full Grooming & day for dogs and Hydrobathing people alike. There Kerstin Rogers Available will be coffee and cakes, hog roast, 01692 501212 dog grooming and 07817 179228 behaviour stalls and debonairdogs@btinternet.com
Debonair Dogs
a cat owner so did not have any cat food to give him overnight, so gave him some of their dog’s food. Although this is not ideal as dog food does not contain taurine, an essential ingredient in cat food, it was a sensible solution to a short term problem. Dog food should not be given to a cat in place of cat food on a regular Merlin one of the younger ones residence in basis. Providing a good care quality cat food for your cat will ensure it stays healthy and is less likely to have problems with its health.
If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 (to see if you are eligible for a voucher). This number is for vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number also applies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign.
If you are looking for a cat or kitten (or have any other queries) please give Stephanie a call on 01692 535858. Alternatively, you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk/ for a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a call on the above number to find out where any particular cat is being fostered. we are looking forward to trying to make it as enjoyable as last year’s show. All proceeds will be going towards the Animal Welfare Foundation, which is a fantastic charity and one we are proud to support. The AWF was set up in 1983 by vets with a passion to alleviate unnecessary pain and suffering in all animals including farm animals, wild animals and pets. Since then, animal welfare has greatly improved but with emerging and evolving diseases ever present, and a continuing demand for welfare improvements and pet care advice, their work remains invaluable. Many of you may already know one of their trustees, Graham Duncanson, a large animal vet and partner for a great many years at Westover Vets with an insatiable zest for life. Graham, who is also raising money for the AWF, recently departed from Norfolk on an epic adventure by bike that will take him all the way to Cape Town! Although our dog show may not be quite as remarkable as Graham’s ride we would love to see as many people and dogs as possible and try to match last year’s great turnout.

Recently Asked Questions and Answers
from the Clapham & Collinge Convenancing team By Jenny Boyle, Chartered Legal Executive in the Conveyancing Department.
Q. My solicitor says I need indemnity insurance & declaration of solvency as I'm being gifted money - why do I need this? A. If money is being gifted and the person gifting the money becomes insolvent the trustee in bankruptcy could set aside the transaction. A statutory declaration of insolvency confirms there is no insolvency at the date of the transaction, i.e that the person making the gift can meet their liabilities as they fall due. An indemnity insurance policy is an insurance policy covering the future insolvency of the person making the gift.
Q. On average, how long does it take to carry out searches on a property? A. It very much depends on the location of the property. Most of the searches come back within 48 hours of submitting the same. It is the Local Search which takes more time, it can take anywhere between 24 hours and in some instances 6 weeks! The best way to find out the time frame is to speak to the Local Authority's land charges department to check their current turnaround time as it frequently changes.
Q. We're currently in rented accommodation, when should we tell our landlord we're moving to the property we're purchasing? A. Only advise your Landlord by serving your notice upon exchange of contracts when you are legally bound to purchase the new property. Until exchange of contracts you are not legally committed to buying the new property.
Q. Can my home buyers survey be done by anyone? I've heard that the surveyor needs to be approved by our lender? A. A homebuyers survey can either be carried out by an independent surveyor or one appointed by the lender. In any event a lender will ask that you pay for a valuation for the mortgage but a valuation is given in
a homebuyers survey so you can upgrade a valuation to a homebuyers survey to save paying for the same thing twice. You should ensure the surveyor is RICS accredited. There are three levels of survey:
(a) Valuation A valuation is often carried out by a Building Society or other Mortgagee to assess the condition and value of the house but it is not a structural survey and in no way guarantees that the house is structurally sound or without defects.
(b) Home Buyers Report This is a standard form of report under guidelines laid down by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers. Such a report provides comments on the condition on the parts of the property which are readily accessible and may include recommendations for further tests or investigations. This sort of survey is normally adequate for any house which is reasonably modern.
(c) Full Structural Survey This is a more detailed examination of the property and its structure and it is advisable to have this sort of survey for older properties or for any property where there is reason to suspect that there might be a structural defect.

July
The months have slipped by, it is now July. Two larks are soaring high in the sky, blue cornflowers are growing beside the stream, I could sit here all day and happily dream. A blue butterfly hovers and alights on my arm, in a moment she'll move, so I have to keep calm. I pick up my book, a grass snake slithers by, it's time to leave, and I give a sad sigh.

North Walsham & District Archive Group
CLEAR CRYSTAL
The North Walsham & District Community Archive Group will, once again, be displaying a selection of old photographs from the history of our town at The Atrium over three days between 18 and 20 August. The exhibition will be open between 10am and 4pm in The Atrium Gallery and is free to visit and browse. The new exhibition will feature a host of recently discovered photographs collected as a result of the archive groups highly successful Facebook group which now boasts over 4,000 members. The success of the group has allowed us access to the extensive collections of local photographer Fred Mace, the archives of North Walsham Historical Society, collections from renowned historians and members of the archive group Mike Ling, Brian Hedge and David Ling, as well as photo from Les Edwards of the Red Cross, Girl Guides and ARP in many private collections shared by the North Walsham Market Place from sometime during the Second generous and enthusiastic members of the World War public. Central to this year's exhibition will be the recently acquired collection of Les Edwards photographs kindly donated to us by Richard 'Dick' Waters during last year's exhibition. The collection of several thousand negatives depicts many aspects of life in and around North Walsham between the 1930s and 1980s. These negatives have been tirelessly scanned over many months by Brian Hedge and Wayne Beauchamp from the group and are currently being shared with our Faceook group members. Highlights of this collection are in the process of being printed for this exhibition and we are hoping to have approaching 200 on display, none of which have ever been seen at our previous exhibitions. We are delighted that, once again, Barry Holden will be presenting his very popular collection of “Then and Now” photographs. Barry has taken images from our archive group and, using his lifetime of local knowledge, revisited the spots

Barry’s collection now stands at over 100 photographs and has been a fascinating addition to our Facebook group now available to see all together in one place.
Another section of the exhibition will feature photographs and ephemera related to local bands, musicans, events and venues which Archive group member David Emerson is compiling. We would be interested in any extras that could be included in this section and if you can help please email us at info@northwalshamarchive.co.uk or drop material off to Anne Sadler at North Walsham Library. To compliment the photographic exhibition, on the Friday evening at 7pm in The Atrium Theatre, the renowned local historian and member of the archive group, Brian Hedge, will lead an audio/visual presentation of archive photographs and narrative on “North Walsham - The town our Parents Knew”. Tickets for this are £5 (available from Showcase Gallery in the Market Place) and the Cafe bar will be open from 6pm for you to share your own memories. The archive group is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers with the aim of collecting the town’s history and making it available for everybody. We do this via our lively Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/NorthWalshamArchive/ and via our dedicated website : http://www.northwalshamarchive.co.uk/ and you can contact us via either websites. We are always interested in adding to the collection and do not keep originals, we just borrow them to scan so we can share them with the community and keep them safe for future generations. It was not the most exciting of finals that anyone has ever seen, however it did give fans some good moments, especially if you’re Portuguese, as Swansea striker Eder scored a wonderful strike in the second half of extra time to ensure that Portugal ruined what would have been a home nation win for France. Although it was not looking too positive for Portugal in the first half, as star player Ronaldo had to be carried off in tears in the 25th minute, after an injury sustained in a clash with Dmitiri Payet earlier on. It could have been so different for France as substitute Andre Gignac hit the post after he scuffed his shot. However, it was not to be for France in the end, as they could not manage to break down a resilient Portugal team. Euro 2016 overall was an exciting tournament which was enjoyable for the fans of most nations, apart from English fans as they were knocked out by an Iceland side who were one of the surprise packages of the tournament. Another team that proved to be challenging were Wales, with Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Hal Robson-Kanu spearheading the Welsh team to the semi-finals of the tournament, after beating tough opponents such as Belgium. It was one of the greatest nights in recent Welsh sporting history, as they managed to beat them 3-1 after falling behind early on. All-in-all, it was a good tournament and it certainly lived up to my expectations as it produced some brilliant games.

James Brooks, pictured centre with Club Officials Alan Hepburn and Dave Horne, has been appointed as North Walsham's Head of
Rugby.
The 36 year old was selected from a high calibre field and comes to Norfolk with an outstanding reputation. As a player he was a fly half, playing in the Premiership for seven years with Northampton, Wasps and Leeds, and achieving international honours with England ‘A’ and England Sevens. Backs coach at Richmond when they won promotion to National League One, he has spent the last three years as Head Coach of Kowloon and the Hong Kong national team.
Departing Coach Nick Greenhall's responsibility was for the adult sides, but Brooks' remit covers the development of all the club's teams Senior, Youth and Minis. Two days a week he will also be coaching for the Wensum Trust, a cluster of Schools that includes Hellesdon and Acle High Schools.
As Norfolk's leading side North Walsham are keen to return to National League rugby, and these changes are part of a strategy to achieve that. "We are looking to begin a new era at Scottow, not only in senior rugby but also in the development of links with schools," said Club President Dave Horne.
