Christmas Fun and Frolics at Animal Magic
Members of Animal Magic Dog Club who attended the dogs’ Christmas party raised a tail wagging £600 in aid of local rescue organisation Norfolk Stray Dogs.
Santa took time out from his busy day job at Sam’s Pets to deliver presents to all of the dogs attending and the show was kindly judged by Councillor Nick Coppack.
From all at Animal Magic we wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and look forward to seeing customers old and new when classes resume in January.
Animal Magic Dog Club based in North Walsham & Norwich offers a wide range of training for puppies, junior and adult dogs.
For more information on the club and classes available please call Kathy on 01263 720730 or visit our web site www.animal-magix.co.uk

Fred's Return from Borneo Adventure
On 10 November cabinetmaker Fred Corbett from West Runton returned home after trekking in Borneo.
Fred funded the trip himself so all money raised would be split equally between two charities, The Ellen Mezzetti Memorial Fund at Epilepsy Research UK and Classroom In The Clouds, which is a charity that helps fund education for children in remote villages of Nepal.
After arriving in Borneo, Fred recounts "we trekked through dense humid rainforests with torrential rain most afternoons, which swelled small streams into raging torrents, which had to be crossed on small slippery bamboo bridges. We saw a wide variety of plant, insect and animal life, narrowly missing stepping on a viper and were plagued by leaches. The nights were spent in small tents listening to the frogs calling until dawn. The climb up Mount Kinabalu was a tough trek up steep rocky uneven paths. Our goal was a lodge at 3200m above sea level. The last of our party did not arrive until 8pm at night, two hours after dark - cold, wet and physically exhausted and very emotional. At 4.40am the next morning, a deep rumble signalled a 5.2 earthquake, luckily only lasting two seconds and not long enough to do any damage. The previous earthquake earlier this year, which had done considerably more damage, meant we couldn't complete the last 800m to the summit. So, after watching a spectacular sunrise above the cloud base we headed back down the mountain and on to the renowned Orangutan Sanctuary at Sepilok. Finally, white water rafting down the Kiulu River brought the enlightening and challenging adventure to a close.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated to these two very worthwhile charities. So far we have raised over £1000”.
Anyone who would like to donate please go to mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/fredcorbett1
Thank You

WHY CHOOSE WHY CHOOSE SILVER SILVER & WARD WARD SOLICITORS? SOLICITORS?
“It’s a common misconception that a larger firm is better.”
I am Clare Mayell and I run Silver and Ward Solicitors in Sheringham. I am an extremely competent and experienced solicitor, qualified Family Mediator and Collaborative solicitor.
As I have worked for 2 larger local firms I know what clients want and expect. My charges are significantly less than other solicitors in North Norfolk or Norwich and I provide 22 years of expertise and exceptional service. The common misconception is that a larger local firm or city firm is better but this is incorrect. A client just pays more.
When a client rings or walks through the door they invariably get to speak to me as this personal and direct approach is important to my clients and I. I ensure complete confidentiality is an absolute priority. I am one of the few solicitors that offffers a free first appointment so that clients can come in and obtain some initial advice and discuss costs and then make an informed decision.
I advise new clients to “shop around” as I know that my charges are significantly less than other solicitors but I can offer the same expertise, if not better. I have and can act for clients across Norrffolk and the Country as we now have the use of Skype, emails etc. so it enables me to act for clients further afield. The reason that clients, near and far, instruct Silver and Ward is because of my expertise, exceptional service and competitive costs.
“I would say to any potential client to come and meet me face to face for a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT, as you have nothing to lose but all to gain.
Home visits can be arranged or appointments outside of office hours including Saturdays. 01263 0 1263 8 823465 23465 or email clare@silverandward.co.uk

Method Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Cut the squash into large cubes, then toss in a large

It is freezing today, My fingers are numb, I wish the covered wagons would come. There's a woman on a donkey, Her baby is due, My dad is a doctor And knows what to do.

The baby lay under the wagon, On sweet smelling hay, This was surely a wonderful day.
People looked on as if in a dream, Rubbing their eyes at the unusual scene. They all lit their lanterns, Bowed their heads to the babe, Then walked on to Maine, Ignoring the rain.

St Andrew's Ladies Association
Our last meeting of the year welcomed Mrs Tricia Brooks who gave us such an interesting insight into the role of Mayor, even bringing the beautiful gold chain of office which has to be worn on official occasions - we were able to look closely at it and discovered just how heavy it was, especially for a lady to wear!
There have been only a few lady Mayors so far, but Tricia involved herself in so many things in our lovely town, especially encouraging all the young people and we are grateful to her for all the work she has done.
It was a lovely ending to this year and our new programme for 2016 looks to be very entertaining. We are all grateful to the ladies who put this together for us and hope to see some new members in the New Year.
Our first Meeting for 2016 is Tuesday 12 January at 7.30pm when Maureen Winsleade will tell us about "prison letter writing worldwide"
Then on Tuesday 28 January at 7.30pm Keys will talk to us about valuation items, and members are encouraged to bring an something which they would like to be valued.

Pigs in the Park – a curly tail…
Countryside rangers at North Norfolk District Council have struck up a deal with a Norfolk pig grazier to help reduce dense bracken and bramble in a section of Holt Country Park. The innovative approach to keeping bramble and bracken at bay will see six Large Black Pigs let free to munch their way through the undergrowth. If left to grow unchecked the bracken and bramble would smother out other species of plant and make it harder for them to flourish.
The pigs were let free to roam in a 20mx20m area in Holt Country Park at the end of last month. The pigs, owned by Mark Tasker of Wildwood Farm in North Elmham, have come hot-foot from Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse. Cllr Becky Palmer, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture at North Norfolk District Council said “I think this is fantastic. It makes perfect sense to use the pigs’ natural instincts to curb the dense bracken and bramble and I hope that this
www.brgardeningservices.co.uk idea really catches on for other areas of the district.
“We will post warning signs up in the park and make sure the signs are visible from the path so country park visitors and dog walkers are aware.”
People are being urged not to feed the pigs as Foot and Mouth disease can be spread from kitchen scraps and dog walkers are being asked to keep their dogs on a lead in this small area for the benefit of the pigs and dogs. The pigs will be kept in a 20m x 20m area that will be penned in and provided with everything they need, a warm shelter, water and some supplementary feed. They will also be checked at least twice a day to ensure the highest standard of animal welfare. A survey of the ground flora will be taken before and after and compared to other areas of the park where bracken and bramble has been thinned without pigs. The Large Black has lop ears with a long deep body and a placid temperament. For more information about the breed check out the Large Black Pig Breeders Club online.
Council to provide free parking on the weekend before Christmas - No charges on 19 & 20 December The Council has decided to, once again, waive the parking charges prior to Christmas, as in previous years.
The decision supports North Norfolk's businesses and traders by encouraging people to buy their Christmas gifts and supplies in their local towns. At a crucial time of year for the retail community, it is also a gesture of goodwill for the festive season in response to requests from businesses.
Cabinet Member for Assets Cllr John Rest said "At such an important time of the year for retailers, it is vital that the Council supports local businesses. There are scores of excellent shops across the district offering a wide range of goods and services. By providing this weekend of free car parking, we hope to encourage people to use that wealth of provision."
On December 19 and 20, shoppers will be able to stay throughout the day without a ticket in any North Norfolk District Council run car park, saving them up to £1.20 an hour.
Serving Afternoon Tea December 20th/21st/22nd.

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
It is Cats Protection policy not to re-home cats and kittens at Christmas because it is not the best time for them to settle in their new home. A cat needs time to get used to new sights and smells and with so much going on in the house it could be very stressful for them and not at all conducive to them settling. When a cat arrives in its new home it will need time to adapt and adjust to its new surroundings and, with so much happening and possibly lots of visitors, this would not happen. We do offer advice to new owners so that the initial period required adapting to the change in circumstances is not stressful for them or their new cat. Arriving home with the new member of the family, it is best to take one step at a time to help them adjust and make life easy for everybody. We would suggest that the cat is put in a room with food, water and a litter tray and be allowed to explore by itself for an hour or two. When you do go into the room, get down to his level and speak to him quietly. It he should decide to hide, just sit quietly in the room, talking to him but not trying to force him to come out. It you do try to force him it will take him longer to accept the changes in his life. It he does hide, do not worry as this is normal behaviour if he is a timid cat. As long as he has food and water and a litter tray in the room, he will take advantage of them in his own good time. Offering treats or using fishing rod toys may help to tempt him out and a good way for you to bond with him. Once he has settled you can then introduce him to the rest of the family and allow him to explore other areas of his new home, albeit a bit at a time. Having made these suggestions, cats do love to prove us wrong and some will walk into their new home and be happy and settled straight away. With kittens, the process is different but more of this next time. If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 (to see if you are eligible for a voucher). This number is for vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number also applies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign.

Do you recognise this cat?
He is a handsome neutered tabby male (not micro chipped) and has been around Weston Terrace allotments in Sheringham for several months.
He is hungry and living rough and obviously has no owner. If you have any information at all about this friendly boy please contact Chris or Dave on 01263 825615. It may help us to reunite him with his owner or to find him a permanent new home. All the rescue centres are full to bursting at present and cannot take any more strays. Norfolk man completes World War One Pillbox Trail Locates 12 pillboxes using trail leaflet
A World War II enthusiast has turned his attention to the historic legacy of World War I and completed a trail aimed at highlighting Norfolk’s built heritage. Alan Hancock, from Great Yarmouth, spent a day tracking down 12 of the 14 pillboxes which appear in the North Norfolk World War One Pillbox Trail leaflet.
The trail forms part of North Norfolk’s World War I Centenary Commemorations 2014-2018 and offers directions and advice on how to find the structures. It was launched in the summer by North Norfolk District Council in partnership with members from the NNWN (North Norfolk WW1 Network). Mr Hancock said his wife had picked the leaflet up from Sheringham Tourist Information Centre during a day visit.
“I am mainly interested in World War II but also have an interest in World War I,” said Mr Hancock. We spent the best part of a day on the trail, starting with the furthest pillbox from home, at Stiffkey. We then worked our way down along coast and then inland, finding 12 in all. It was a lovely drive and an interesting challenge. Considering they are all the best part of 100 years old, I was surprised to find how well preserved the pillboxes were. Some were harder to find than others because they were covered with ivy and overgrowth.” Cllr Becky Palmer, Cabinet Member for Culture at North Norfolk District Council, said “The built heritage of North Norfolk is something to be celebrated in many different ways. The pillbox project is helping people discover a very specific and important part of that heritage. The trail is a fascinating day out for history enthusiasts.”
The pillboxes are located at Stiffkey, Weybourne, Beeston Regis, Aylmerton, Thorpe Market, Bradfield, Little London on the edge of North Walsham, White Horse Common, Wayford Bridge and Sea Palling. Several locations have a pair of pillboxes.
Bindi’s Ordeal
At Toll Barn Vets, North Walsham, we are enjoy being able to care for a variety of different pets.
Most of these come from loving homes, however, we are also proud to be able to help many local charities and rescue centres caring for sick, abandoned or stray animals.
Bindi has had a rough start in life and was found roaming the area with terrible injuries to her legs which look suspiciously like they come from a snare trap. One of her front legs had severe damage to the toes, which had caused the claw to grow inside the skin and made it extremely painful for her to walk on the leg. Her back leg had lost almost all of the skin up to the hock (ankle) joint. Thankfully, there were no fractures involved, we undertook surgery to remove two of her toes which were too badly damaged to heal.
Bindi has now recovered from surgery and had several weeks of bandages to help the wound on her back leg to heal. She is now fully recovered and, apart from her scar, shows no signs of her ordeal.
The RSPCA East Norfolk Branch rescued Bindi when she was found injured and have been caring for her with some much needed TLC ever since. Bindi is now well enough to be rehomed so if you think you could offer her a well-deserved new start in life please contact RSPCA East Norfolk on 07867 972870

CROMER AND SHERINGHAM PROBUS CLUB
Cromer and Sheringham Probus Club held its annual Christmas Lunch on 1 December at The Links Hotel, West Runton. Fifty five members, wives and guests were welcomed by the Chairman, Ron Coleman, and enjoyed a convivial atmosphere and a delicious lunch.
The Club celebrated its 40th birthday in May this year and the Chairman, after referring to this, spoke briefly about the origins of Probus. The first club for retired or nearly retired professional and businessmen was started 50 years ago in Welwyn Garden City. Each club is autonomous and today there are over 2000 such clubs in UK, with around 4000 world-wide and a total membership of over 300,000.
Probus Clubs in rural areas are often few and far between, unlike Cheltenham for instance which has ten clubs, but the basic concept is the same – to make and meet friends over a good lunch and enjoy a wide variety of visiting speakers.
A vote of thanks on behalf of wives and guests was proposed by the Chairman’s wife Jill, who wondered whether perhaps meetings could be held fortnightly or even weekly!
Our next lunch meeting will be on 2 February but there is a chance to get to know us at an informal coffee morning on Tuesday 12 January to be held at the Hole-inOne Sports Bar at The Links from 10.30am, when wives and guests will again be welcome. More details of the coffee morning and the Club generally can be obtained at www.candsprobus.club or by contacting Dave Vickery on 01263 824306.

It’s Christmas!
Time flies fast as we grow older, Yes, it’s Christmas once again. There’s hustle and bustle to get things done, For youngsters it’s all excitement and fun.
The mince pies are made and laid out to cool. The pudding is ready and the freezer is full. But let’s spare a thought for those on their own Whose only contact is the telephone. And little children far away Who won’t have much on Christmas Day. So let us be grateful for all that we have And the help that is given Through the good times and bad. I raise my glass and wish you good cheer. Let’s hope it will be a peaceful New Year
Diane Berthelot
It’s a fresh winter morning, Pure untrodden gleaming white snow all around. The sun is shining in a clear blue sky, The birds are singing the only sound. Surely this is the best way To love, relax and enjoy The most perfect Christmas Day.
Young People of North Norfolk: Your Community Needs You!
North Norfolk Youth Hubs is entering 2016 with community spirit! The New Year will see young people at the Stalham and Cromer Hub planning and taking part in Social Action projects that will benefit their communities. This year, after becoming Dementia Friends through the nationally recognised scheme, Cromer Hub made regular visits to Halsey House care home for elderly residents living with dementia. The Stalham Youth Hub members will be visiting the residents at Sydney House in February and also doing their Dementia Friends training. Young Hubbers have lots of exciting ideas planned, from conservation projects to fundraising for the Youth Hubs. Cromer Hub will be teaming up with About With Friends from 2016, a community organisation that provides support and activities for adults and young people with learning difficulties. The Hub will be using their resource centre and running joint group activities.
The North Norfolk Youth Hubs is run by Youth Workers at MAP – a charity for young people based in Norwich. The Hubs are free and open to all young people in north Norfolk age 13-19. They give opportunities for young people to learn new skills, become young leaders and be active in their communities whilst giving something back. LTD LT D

Crab & Lobster Festival News Planning for the 2016 Crab & Lobster Festival is well under way with Cromer and Sheringham each devising new and interesting events to attract the visitors. Each town is promoting its own unique flavour and character during this ever popular festival of food and fun for all the family.
The Festival takes place on the weekend of 21 22 May, starting on Friday evening with an opening variety concert at Cromer's unique Pier Pavillion Theatre. The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday in Cromer, and a full day of events and activities in Sheringham on the Sunday too. Key to the success of the festival is the Art Trail which involves local shops & businesses, and
which attracts visitors from Easter until the end of August. Each year the trail is different, so far we have promoted giant crab & lobster models, deckchairs, life rings, windbreaks, boat planters and ships wheels... each individually decorated, displayed and auctioned for charity during late August bank holiday.
Last Year the 100 wonderful ships wheels raised £5000, and the festival committee met this week to decide on the distribution of funds to a number of local grant applicants who will be notified shortly.
We are proud to announce that the 2016 Art Trail item will be sourced and produced entirely locally. "About With Friends" not only run their cafe in Cromer, but also a catering enterprise, gardening services, and they produce wooden items for sale. The Crab

Hilary Cox, who is spearheading the trail, went over to their Cromer workshop to collect the first one, and the team will be busy producing at least 60 and possibly up to 100, all to be sponsored and decorated by local businesses, artists, groups and individuals. North Lodge Park – the way forward From the 747 responses to the North Lodge Park questionnaire in the spring, the Friends of the Park have created some proposals for the future development of the Park, which were presented to an open meeting on 2 December.
The proposals cover all areas of the Park, branching out from the cafe as the heart of the Park. Children's play, teenage play, events area, picnic area, artwork and an interactive trail are all part of the options discussed. These proposals were well received by the meeting in Cromer Community Hall.
“These are very much discussion proposals, like a shopping list from which work with the district council can start to bring the Park to life,” said Barry Meadows, secretary of the Friends. “We need views from the community to help prioritise and finalise the shape of the shopping list - realistically it's not all going to happen so we need to know where our priorities should be.” Full details of the proposals and an online questionnaire are on the Friend's website northlodgepark.org.uk - paper copies are available in the cafe for anyone not online.
“In the previous survey there was no question regarding car parking in the Park, but some of you expressed views on this matter, both for and against”, Barry said, “This time we have included a specific simple question for on this subject.” The cafe success in the Park is down to the continued support of the community - to achieve any of the projects in the proposals the Friends will need you to help again. “The plan is to develop project teams to take forward each element of any agreed plans in the New Year”, Barry explained. “Come and talk to the team to see where your skills and knowledge can help us.”

Autumn Notes from the Commons It still feels we are in autumn as we enter December. Many trees still carry golden leaves and we have yet to experience any real frosts. However, autumn for the Commons starts in September and that seems a long while ago now, also I missed most of it as work took me to Morecambe Bay until around mid-October. Mark Clements, a regular recorder, kept up the good

Replica carpet is made for Felbrigg Hall after historic looms revived
Felbrigg carpet - setting the spool
After years of planning and months in the making, the National Trust has announced that Felbrigg Hall’s library is set to be restored to its former glory, with the arrival of a custom-made new carpet based on the unique original.
The original library carpet, which dated from around 1830, had become extremely faded and worn - from age, light and nearly 200 years of use. It was not possible to repair the damaged tapestry carpet, as the original yarn had been dyed with the pattern before being woven. So the National Trust looked at ways to replicate its historic design.
Analysis of the original carpet revealed that it was made up of 30 colours in a 3ft floral design, making it a rare surviving example of a printed tapestry carpet. The pattern was traced and the colours carefully matched, before being expertly woven in strips and sewn into one piece before its arrival at Felbrigg.
The new carpet has been made by specialists from The Living Looms Project, a not-forprofit project based in Stourport that seeks to preserve our nation’s weaving heritage. Their late 19th century carpet looms are the nch kind in the world and thought last lau of0ttheir e R to cbe3 theh only ones capable of making such Daereplica. Using traditional methods and historic looms recently revived, they have not only produced a new carpet, but are helping to keep alive the skills to make it. In recent days, the original carpet has been

removed and new underlay put in place. Now it is time for the new carpet to be laid, giving visitors a taste of the library’s original grandeur.
Eleanor Akinlade is the General Manager at Felbrigg Hall; “It’s felt a little like Christmas, waiting for the carpet to arrive. We’re so pleased the day has finally arrived for it to be laid. The National Trust is founded on the principle of caring for our country’s heritage and if we want to maintain the intrinsic character of ageing properties like Felbrigg Hall well into the future, then we also need to preserve the traditional skills and machines that will make that possible.”
Mike Sutherill, Curator for the National Trust in the East of England, said “The invention of the printed tapestry looms marked a massive change in carpet design, allowing manufacturers to use more colours than they ever could before. So it was important to us, to try to replicate the carpet in as much detail as possible, so visitors w to Felbrigg could Ne ion see just how ss Se m e s beautiful and Ti colourful the original carpet

would have once looked. To witness the process and skill involved to take single threads to create the colourful pattern in this carpet was just incredible.”
David Luckham, from The Living Looms Project added "Any product is only as good as the specification and skills employed in its manufacture, so it has been a pleasure and privilege for The Living Looms Project to work with the knowledgeable team at the National Trust. Without the support and backing from conservation individuals and organisations like the National Trust for traditional skills and standards to be maintained, numerous important historic textiles including carpets and tapestries will disappear. The houses will be poorer for this and, once gone, these textiles and skills will be lost to future generations.”

Successful Uganda mission for Sheringham church A team of 24 people from Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham have just returned from a mission in Uganda, which has seen many lives changed in that small but faithful community. Jo Mutton, one of the 24, takes up the story. “At 3.30am on Friday 23 October we began our journey from Lighthouse in Sheringham to Uganda. Our mission was simple - to show the love of Jesus in practical ways to a small community called Kiwoko, in the bush, North of Leweero. “Lighthouse Community Church and Pastor Bryan Pickard have been supporting this community for several years, but this was the biggest and most adventurous mission to date and was affectionately entitled the ‘loaves and fishes trip’. It was self-funded by the participants, but included the generosity of small businesses, and individuals from the church and local community.
“The Ugandan Pastor overseeing our trip greeted us in Entebbe, 24 tired travellers and 48 suitcases squeezed into a small 20-seat bus and mpv! Pastor Steve told the team how excited the villagers were to be receiving us, and that their expectations were high! No pressure!
“The pastor had identified areas where we could assist the community. This included predominantly working at the local church, which had a school on site catering for 274 children, some of whom were boarders as their homes were so far away. However, there were no dormitories for them instead they had taken over a classroom and were sleeping on mattresses on the floor. This
inevitably put pressure on the other classes, as on some occasions three classes were sharing one room, which resulted in cramped and dysfunctional teaching.
“At one end of the building part of the wall had fallen down due to intense rain, so this repair became a priority for the British and Ugandan building team on the first morning. The wiring around the church and school was extremely dangerous, with exposed wires, so this was also considered an important job in order to make it safe and functional.
“One of the team had organised a water filtration system to be installed at the school so they could harvest fresh water when it rained. Precarious scaffolding was used to erect the guttering with the assistance of local labourers, and a brick support was constructed for the water tank. “In the team were four teachers who had been invited to offer some basic teaching techniques to the teachers of the school and others in the surrounding area. Pastor Steve wanted them to address positive encouragement rather than physical punishment toward the children as an alternative form of discipline, as well as suggesting different ways of using resources and interactive teaching methods. This was well received by the Ugandan teachers.
“Whilst teachers were undergoing training, their classes would be involved in an activity club run by the Muzungus (white people), this included a variety of activities: t-shirt painting, decorating bunting for their class, action rhymes, bible stories, threading, parachute games etc. The younger members of the team did a fantastic job of coordinating this along with a sports day at the end of the week.

“Also on the team were three nurses - it had been decided that basic health checks were to be undertaken on every pupil in the school. One of the biggest problems that children experience (apart from malaria)
is that of jiggers. These are parasites that burrow into the sole of a child’s foot and reproduce, which is very uncomfortable for the child. Parents often painfully gouge out the parasite, often causing infection and possible deformity. All this could be avoided if the children wore shoes. Treatment by soaking feet in a solution of oil and paraffin is enough to kill the Jiggers; this was shown to a local nurse who is now willing to follow up treatment on a regular basis with a view to ultimately eliminating this problem. We were also able to provide shoes to those who were affected.
“One of the most humbling experiences for us was when we were able to hold a feeding programme for the older members of the church and local community. Our aim was to feed 150 people but we managed to stretch provisions to provide for 180. The people started congregating early in the morning, before we arrived, and patiently waited whilst we prepared the food parcels which included: maize flour, beans, salt, sugar, matches, and soap, to sustain them for a month, at a cost of approximately £5 per person. The delight on their faces was evident, and they were so appreciative that similar aged people back in the UK cared enough for them that they wanted to provide for them in this way. “Another highlight was an opportunity to have a baptismal service at a local watering hole which had been mentioned at our first Sunday service. About 40 people arrived on the day including a few Muslims who were baptised by the Ugandan and British Pastors.
“Towards the end of our trip it became apparent that there was enough money in the budget to purchase some beds for the boarders at the school. On our travels back and forth to the school and church, we had seen metal triple bunk-style beds which we felt would be ideal for the boarders at the school, so an order was placed for ten beds to be delivered to the school. A lot of the village community came out to welcome the beds! “It made us all realise that what we take as basic human comforts at home are not available to those we met in Kiwoko. However, their meagre living conditions did not result in complaints, but rather in rejoicing for what God has given them and an inner peace that their lives are in God’s hands. Their love and hospitality towards us far exceeded anything we could do for them, and we were all humbled, touched and challenged by their faithfulness.”

Improved waste and recycling information for North Norfolk Christmas, New Year and 2016 wheelie bin collection dates
New waste and recycling calendars will help people across North Norfolk understand how their wheelie bin collection dates will be affected by public holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter.
Every year North Norfolk District Council’s collection dates over the Christmas period and other public holidays differ slightly, sometimes taking place a day or two earlier or later than expected.
The new calendars show when wheelie bins will be collected over the next 12 months, from this December through to November 2016.
Each calendar is specific to the usual day of collection, so people with Monday collections will receive different calendars to those with Tuesday collections and so on.
The calendars show any changes to collections as a result of public holidays by showing the actual collection date highlighted in yellow. If the dates have not changed they will appear in white. On the reverse side, it illustrates what can go in the green recycling bin. Calendars will be hung on wheelie bins following emptying.
Cllr Tom FitzPatrick, Leader of North Norfolk
Sheringham Independent 430 December 19th 2015
District Council, said “The aim is to provide improved information about collection dates which have been altered by public holidays. These calendars are clearer than ever and will be delivered to everyone across the district with a wheelie bin.”
Waste contractors Kier started to deliver the newly designed information to all households with wheelie bins on 30 November.
The information can also be seen online at www.northnorfolk.org/bincollection. Simply enter your postcode and then select your property name. 23

Surround your day with elegance and romance on your special day. Arrive in a beautiful authentic vintage car painted in ivory and black.
Veronica Zappia from Aylmerton has been teaching yoga for 10 years and her classes have always been light-hearted, sometimes even silly, but always fun.
One day, Veronica explains “I had an idea that it would be fun to teach yoga to children. So without any research I just went on-line and booked an intensive children's yoga teacher training course staying in an ASHRAM somewhere in India.
Wow what a shock, but amazing adventure it turned out to be. It took 23hrs to finally reach the ASHRAM. To say basic would be an understatement. My accommodation was sort of a big hut shared with three others. My bed was like sleeping on a wooden bench (I averaged 3/4 hrs sleep per night). The bathroom was a dodgy toilet and two taps, bucket and jug for a shower (which was shared with my room RANDALLS mates after a 17 hr day of lectures, practical sessions and meals thatELECTRICAL had to be taken in silence). Shop at 7 Church Street, Cromer
Each evening the rats partied in our roof, although it sounded like they were in our room! Both STOCKIST OF WIDE RANGE OF the huge mosquitos and ants were very hungry! One day, I came out of dining room to be greeted SHADES AND LIGHT BULBS OF ALL TYPES by a cobra with its hood up - I'm afraid I have to Rewires say I broke the silence rule just this once - and i iExtra socketsiSecurity Lightingi another time during Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) I was shouted to grab a branch from a tree and iTelephone ExtensionsiSmall Appliance Repairsi race over the hills, through the long grass, to help put a fire out. I have512626 to admit to crying all the Tel: 01263 way to the fire thinking long grass means scorpions cobras spiders etc! 07767 492456 Mob: (emergency contact)
randallselectrical@tiscali.co.uk The most amazing part, or you could call it the icing on the cake, was being invited to a primary school in the city of NASIK and getting to use all the skills we had been taught on our course at ASHRAM, teaching yoga to the young Indian children. They loved it and so did we.
When I got home, I could not believe what an impression the whole experience had had on me. A part of that third world country thousands of miles away was now coming back to Norfolk. Considering how shocking it all was at first and how basic, hard and intense the whole experience was, I am left feeling so lucky, fortunate and excited about my future of teaching yoga to children.
The list of benefit for children not just physically but mentally and if needed emotionally is endless.”

To the people of Sheringham
I have taken early retirement from the Co-op in Sheringham.
I would like to say a big thank you to the lovely people of Sheringham and surrounding villages who have given me gifts, cards and good wishes for the future.
I enjoyed my work and it was a pleasure to meet you all. I had worked in the store for over 20 years and have met some lovely people who have become my friends. I would also like to say a big thank you to the Co-op staff, past and present. I am going to miss you all.
Yours sincerely, John Dagless
