New Pastor inducted at Sheringham church

Continued from front cover... The Sheringham church was packed for the induction service, which was led by Rev Richard Lewis, Eastern Baptist Association Regional Minister. The afternoon started with Ivor Charsley and Chris Harrison from the church’s leadership team explaining how Ian came to be appointed after Bryan had announced that he was to retire. They recounted how all those involved in the process were convinced that Ian and Sue were God’s choice for Lighthouse. The service continued in a prescribed format with Richard asking Ian, then Lighthouse leadership, to confirm their faith and trust in God. Next he asked the church fellowship, and then the whole congregation, to accept, welcome, and support their new pastor. This was followed by questions from each of the leadership team, asking Ian, and then Sue, to commit to all aspects of the job ahead. This was followed by prayers for Ian and Sue by leaders of Kingsgate and Oak Grove churches, and also by the Senior Police Chaplain of Norfolk Constabulary, as Ian is also police chaplain for North Norfolk, a role which he finds rewarding, and very useful for forming bonds with the local community. The message was given by Mrs Audrey Chipper from Isleham in Cambridgeshire, whom Ian said had been a great source of inspiration and encouragement to him over the years. The celebration also included rousing worship, and the afternoon concluded with coffee and cake.

Ian and Sue’s links with the Sheringham church go back at least ten years during which time Ian led a number of meetings, services and training events. They have many friends in the town, including Lighthouse youth pastor, Peter Skivington, who was youth worker at Oak Grove while Ian was there.

“We are thrilled to be here,” said Ian, “And I’m committed to seeing what God wants to do in North Norfolk. Even our kids, who are now grown up and married, still come back to Sheringham for their fish and chips!” The Lighthouse Community Church is at 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT. STEPS are getting there … junction at Felbrigg A148/B1436 After over eight years of campaigning by the Steps to Safety Group, acknowledgement of the need for a roundabout at this important, frustrating and dangerous junction has been made by Norfolk County Council Highways Dept. The costing estimate is over £500,000 but the County Council are unable to meet the entire costs from their own funds and are seeking help to cover the shortfall which, after pledges received from local Town and Parish Councils, the District Council, the National Trust and local businesses has now been re-

duced to £42,000. During the past two years surveys undertaken by the Steps team, both from the public and local businesses, showed overwhelming support for a roundabout at this junction. Your vehicles are often seen waiting at this junction, costing money, help us to help you. PLEDGE A WEDGE We are not asking for money at this stage but pledges, which will only be called in when and if necessary. If you would like to see a roundabout at this junction, please consider pledging now. The easiest way is through our website www.felbriggroundabout.com which has a lot of information on the project or to me, ue.arnold@talktalk.net. Or send to me direct at Whinfell, Clipped Hedge Lane, Southrepps, Norwich NR11 8NS. Please give this your urgent consideration. If we are unable to realise these additional funds,

there is a real possibility the commitment from NCC will be withdrawn. We have until the end of April or face a very real prospect of losing this opportunity. £42k … surely this must be ‘do-able’. Yours sincerely, Sue Arnold, Chair of Steps to Safety Campaign District Councillor for Roughton Ward (Felbrigg, Roughton, Southrepps and Thorpe Market) I/We -------------------------------------------------------wish to pledge to the roundabout at the Felbrigg junction £100 £500 other £............

April at the Museum of the Broads

Spring has definitely sprung and on a sunny day what could be better than a picnic by the river at Stalham Staithe? Our ‘Hats for Selfies’ are proving popular. Wear a hat from a Broads character, take a selfie, and join in the fun online!

If you fancy some nostalgic window shopping, our exhibition, ‘Broadland’s High Streets Through Time’ is for you. See how our villages and market towns have changed, hear personal stories and discover how self-sufficient our ancestors really were.

CHOIRfest 2016: An evening of song from the choirs of North Norfolk

To celebrate the wealth of vocal music making in North Norfolk, Coast Arts are hosting an exciting evening of choir music in the famous Cromer Pavilion Pier Theatre on 9 April at 7.30pm. The evening will be hosted by Nick Conrad from BBC Radio Norfolk. Final preparations are under way for the 2016 Coast Arts CHOIRfest, which promises to be an amazing evening with over 120 singers performing in the famous Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre.

“Six choirs from around the area are coming together for the evening,” said Tony Knight, musical director of Vocality, who is bringing the choirs together. “There are some great choirs around the area all working hard on their own music and each with an individual style; this is a chance for the choirs to work, learn and perform together. The evening will feature a range of classical and contemporary music, with each choir singing pieces on their own and all having fun singing pieces together.” ! #

Barry Meadows from Coast Arts added “We don't think this has ever been done before – beautiful songs sung to the natural background music of the sea thundering beneath the theatre – with over 120 singers it really willbe a wonderful night of music”.

Nick Conrad from BBC Radio Norfolk, who will be hosting the evening, is really looking forward to the event. "I love Cromer Pier and getting the chance to compere at such an amazing evening in the Pavilion Theatre is a real privilege" Nick said, "all these choirs are working so hard to bring a real mix of vocal music together, it promises to be a super musical evening." The six choirs at CHIORfest 2106 are Cliftonville Singers, Cromer Gospel Choir, Rockit Choir, New Sheringham Singers, Sing for Joy and Vocality. Tickets are priced at £6 and available from www.cromerpier.co.uk or Box Office 01263 512495.

Sheringham continues to deserve its title of being a Fairtrade Town

On Friday 11 March many local people, and even some from the wilds of Weybourne, West Runton, Cromer and Overstrand supported the Big Fairtrade Breakfast and Coffee Morning! The slogan was "sit down for breakfast, stand up for farmers" and we enjoyed Fairtrade food from many parts of the world in our tea, coffee, muesli, sugar and marmalade. Beck Farm supplied us with tasty brown eggs at a very reasonable price, and we were able to ensure that local farmers are getting a fair price for the milk by buying it at Morrisons.

The Fairtrtade Group not only prepared and supplied the food but made cakes too, with delicious ones also from Tracey, Susie and Glenda. Besides a very enjoyable morning we were able to send a cheque for ÂŁ205.25 to Traidcraft Exchange, the Fairtrade Charity which helps desperately poor people existing on less than one meal a day. Many in Bangladesh have been given tea plants, and are enjoying a regular income from the tea leaves. It would be good to know we can buy Fairtrade tea grown by them.

St Andrew's Ladies Association

Our meeting on 8 March welcomed Jan Brookes-Bullen, House Manager at Blickling Hall, who gave us such an interesting evening telling us about the housekeeping that takes place at the Hall during the winter months. It is very cold, of course, because the house and contents have to be kept at a regular temperature to preserve the treasures. There are always plenty of young people who want to help, most with degrees, some interested in art, furniture, etc and they are very carefully chosen - they have to prove that they can climb ladders and scaffolding quickly and safely and also handle delicate articles very carefully.

Jan explained that they clean with several different sizes and types of brushes and only white, non-fluffy dusters. She also explained that one of the worst enemies to the treasures is water and people carrying water bottles, and also of course sunlight, so the house is very carefully monitored. Jan was so enthusiastic about her job and we all felt how lucky we are in Norfolk to have this wonderful house and we should visit again.

A community theatre is serving up extra helpings of pre-show suppers to help feed its coffers as well as its customers. Showgoers at Sheringham Little Theatre are savouring meals as well as stage and screen performances at the seaside venue. Pre-show suppers have been added to the all-year-round programme at the charity-run community arts centre. They are proving a big hit with audiences - and are helping raise valuable income to support the theatre’s arts activities. Theatre director Debbie Thompson said the suppers were being extended to most evening performances this year after they were a huge success during last summer’s repertory drama season. “The suppers were a big hit, and by the end of the season our 40 covers were sold out. “They add to the visitor experience, are good value for money and make it less stressful as people can get a meal before the show if they come straight from work,” she added. Food also provided a valuable extra income stream supporting the theatre’s coffers during a time of cutbacks in grant funding. “Catering income helps us offer events all year round for visitors and the local community.” said Mrs Thompson. The addition of homemade hot lunches, made by cook Elaine Eckett, to the daytime menu had doubled food takings. Newcomer chef Norman Pottle will be creating the suppers, which start at 6pm or 6.30pm depending on the time of the evening event. He said menus would change according to the season from hearty pies and crumbles in winter to quiches and salads in summer. r Pottle, 64, from Bodham, has more than 40 years’ experience in catering including seven in the Royal Navy cooking on board ships including the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle, as well as being a chef on offshore rigs and a Cromer residential home. The keen theatregoer said he was looking forward to his new challenge. The twocourse suppers cost £15.50, with after-dinner coffee and mints. Or there is a choice of a single course from the menu, which will include minute steak, seared fillet of salmon and a vegetable lasagne. Dessert choices include banoffee pie, Eaton mess and apple pie. This year the suppers will be available from 2 April when the curtain goes up on a community youth production of Evita. The number of places available has 20 Beech Avenue, Sunway Park been upped to 50 to cope with demand. Bookings must Sheringham NR26 8NS be made in advance. Parking Meter Issue for Sheringham and Cromer withdrawn

On the 18th of February the Norfolk Parking Partnership joint Committee brought forward a proposal to introduce Pay and Display meters in Sheringham, Cromer and Hunstanton, the reasoning behind this is to support the sustainability of On Street Civil Parking Enforcement in Norfolk.

At the moment these pay and display enforcement procedures only happen in Norwich, Kings Lynn and Gt Yarmouth.

Our local enforcement of parking on streets at the moment is done through This partnership which includes input from County Council and District Councils which includes North Norfolk District Council, (NNDC). And separately from this committee our district car parks in North Norfolk are run by NNDC.

To put it plainly the present on street enforcement process in Cromer and Sheringham is not paying for itself and the Partnership are having to seek other ways of providing the service which is essential in our towns.

Being made aware only a few days before the meeting of the Norfolk Parking Partnership (NPP), I arranged on the 15th of February for The 2 Town Councils and both Chambers to meet with officers of the County Council to understand what was happening, parking meters are something none of us wants but the enforcement of our towns will need to be addressed ASAP.

Although the issue at the NPP committee was not carried forward at that time, being part of a Budget proposal it will be looked into again to take forward the years budget.

Not waiting for this to happen I convened another meeting with the local bodies concerned on the 3rd of March, the outcome to this further meeting with Both town councils and Chamber's, NCC officers were asked to go back and ask NNDC to consider Again to look at the possibility of funding Cromer and Sheringham On Street enforcement, District council again refused, following this fortunately Norfolk Parking Partnership got the message

North Norfolk Photographic Society Competitions are the meat and gravy for most camera clubs, and North Norfolk Photographic Society is no exception.

and withdrew the proposal to put in Parking Meters and to look for another way.

It is really interesting to be aware that the district Council are part of the Norfolk Partnership and have a Cabinet member at the table, it is just a pity North-Norfolk District Council did not block this proposal before.

I am grateful to Cromer Town Council and Chamber for joining forces with Sheringham to block this unwelcome proposal, working together is the only way, the two towns are very alike with similar problems, long may that joint working continue.

Seventeen members entered the Advanced sections. The winner in the ‘A Sporting Moment’ section was Paul Stearman whose shot ‘A Refreshing Second’ showed a rather hot looking boxer being ‘refreshed’ by a spray of presumably cold water administered by his ‘second‘.

The quality of entries in the third group, the Novices, continues to show remarkable quality. Out of 14 pictures submitted by seven competitors, the winner was Jackie Ormandy. Talented Artist donates foot-painted picture to Lloyd Court

The Tenants of Lloyd Court housing with care scheme in High Kelling, North Norfolk were presented with a winter landscape painting, donated by Peter Longstaff, who paints with his toes. Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, unveiled the painting. The painting of a winter scene is approximately 7 feet by 4 feet, and has been placed in the entrance to the scheme where it can be enjoyed by everyone. Peter, who was born without arms, has also agreed to paint another painting of spring and summer as the seasons change. He is a member of the ‘Mouth and Foot Painting Artists’ which was formed in 1957. The MFPA partnership is part of an international self-help association of artists (AMFPA) who paint without the use of their hands. There are currently 33 British artists and almost 800 artists from over 80 countries worldwide. More information can be found at www.mfpa.uk/the-artists/peter-longstaff Marie Quantrill, who is the manager of the scheme is delighted. “Peter 14

Volunteers Needed for New Settling in Service

Community based volunteers are being sought to participate in a new ‘Settling in Service’ for patients being discharged from hospital.

This project is very much in its infancy and initially volunteers are being sought by the NNUH to help discharged patients who live alone to ‘settle’ back home with confidence – only short term help is needed, but we feel it is so beneficial, especially to those in outlying village communities.

Newly discharged hospital patients often feel very vulnerable when returning home, and unsure about coping with daily living‌ so a cup of tea, a listening ear and a hand of friendship can make a huge difference in the first couple of days, enabling them to pick up the threads of their normal routines with confidence once again.

Volunteers will initially meet patients as they return home and then follow up with a second visit or telephone call the following day. Hopefully, the patient will then feel settled, however any concerns can be raised with a dedicated coordinator who will be able to refer on to community based assistance.

We are looking to recruit some caring and dedicated volunteers in the North Norfolk area who will be available to help on an ad hoc basis to make the service viable.

Please contact Kim-Marie Shreeve, Administration Assistant, Voluntary Services Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, 01603 286060 ext. 2060

Dear Margaret,

The Cromer & Sheringham Probus Club has had considerable success in attracting new members recently and many of them have contacted us because they have seen reports and notices in the Sheringham Independent and Cromer Times. On behalf of the club, I would like to publicly thank you and the rest of your team for the coverage which you give us.

We are also extremely pleased that all those who have contacted us over the past six months have subsequently decided to join and our numbers have swelled from the low thirties into the forties. There is still scope for additional members, so I would encourage any gentlemen who have seen our reports and thought Probus might be of interest, to get in touch.

Our website is www.candsprobus.club where there is plenty of information, including an FAQ page, or I can be contacted on 01263 824306. With thanks and best wishes,

Dave Vickery, Lunch Secretary, Cromer & Sheringham Probus Club

Recently Asked Question and Answers on Family Law

Break is not capable of being challenged.

By Neale Grearson, Head of Family Department at Clapham & Collinge Solicitors

My estranged husband has transferred all of his assets to his brother. Will this affect our Divorce? There is an obligation on husbands and wives when they separate or divorce to be open and honest with each other and to act appropriately. If he has transferred assets in an attempt to deplete your financial entitlement the Court has the power to overturn such a transaction and to take that into account as part of a Divorce settlement.

Are maintenance Orders linked to inflation? How could they be increased? Maintenance Orders for an ex-husband or ex-wife are not automatically linked to inflation. The Order dealing with the maintenance can include a provision linked to the Retail Price Index but that is unusual. Maintenance can be increased by agreement or an Order can be varied if there is a change in circumstances so an Application can be made to a Judge. This is in relation to maintenance for an ex-wife or ex-husband but maintenance for children can only be dealt with by the Child Maintenance Service if agreement is not reached as the Courts have only limited powers over and above what the Child Maintenance Service can assess the level of maintenance at.

My estranged husband wants to come back to try again. My cousin told me about post-nups in the USA – what are they? A Post-Nuptial Agreement is similar to a Pre-Nuptial Agreement but is entered into after a marriage. They have generally been accepted in this country as being even more enforceable than a Pre-Nuptial Agreement. They are intended to set out what a husband and wife intend should happen if their marriage breaks down and there is a Divorce. Pre-Nuptial Agreements and PostNuptial Agreements are becoming more common in this country and are now widely accepted by the Court as binding so long as there are safeguards in place to ensure that they are fair. It is now no longer left to the rich and famous to have such agreements.

If I have joint custody or sole custody of our daughter would I still have to pay my ex-wife maintenance? The Child Maintenance Service makes assessments in relation to the payment of maintenance to children if parents cannot agree. Whether maintenance would have to be paid does depend on the particular circumstances and the amount of time that a child spends with each parent.

What is a Financial Clean Break Order and what does it do? Can it be challenged in the future like in these Court cases I see? A Financial Clean Break means that a husband and wife will not be able to make any future financial claims against the other after their Divorce. In particular it would normally include the provision of all claims for maintenance, capital and against the Estate of the deceased on the death of one of them. It is rare for a Court Order to be challenged and there would need to be a good reason for this. There have recently been a number of high profile cases where Court Orders have been re-opened because of the lack of honesty and financial disclosure given by a husband. Usually however a settlement that is agreed and contained in a Consent Order which adds provision for a Clean

My wife has been violent to me in the past. I have been told to get a Civil Injunction but what is it and what does it do? An application can be made for an injunction which is a Court Order to protect a victim of domestic violence. Any violence is a criminal offence and can be reported to the police for criminal action to be taken. This should always be the first step as the police may be able to take the quickest action and may be able to put measures in place for your protection such as ensuring your address is noted on their system for a quick response, installing panic alarms in your property, and prosecuting any offences via the criminal justice

My Dad only lent me the deposit for our flat if I make my fiancée sign a pre-nup. What if he won't? A Pre-Nuptial Agreement can set out the terms that are accepted should apply if there were to be a Divorce. Very often pressure is exerted from members of family that give or lend money to a son or daughter if they are concerned about what would happen on a subsequent Divorce. Signing a Pre-Nuptial Agreement is entirely voluntary and cannot be forced on anyone.

system, which can include obtaining a Restraining Order against the person concerned. In the alternative, or alongside any action the police may take, a civil injunction, such as a Non-molestation Order, may be required. Much like a Restraining Order, which is obtained through the criminal courts following a prosecution, a Non-molestation Order can provide for measures that protect you such as prohibiting your partner from contacting you or coming near you or your property. Once a Nonmolestation Order is in place, its breach can be enforced as a criminal offence by the police or through the civil courts as a contempt of court.

‘Sandscaping’ option to protect coast from extreme weather

Work to look at improving the coastal defences to Bacton Gas Terminal and neighbouring villages is continuing.

of Bacton Gas Terminal and the Environment Agency are investigating this option and how it could be funded. Discussion is also underway with The Crown Estate which manages offshore sand resources.

One option which is being considered is to ‘sandscape’ the beach with high volumes of additional sand, in order to help protect the coast from extreme weather.

Government funding is not available for the defence of the Bacton Gas Terminal so the operators are looking at how they can fund the protection of the nationally important asset themselves.

It is thought this approach, trialled by the Dutch successfully, would be the most effective and it could be achieved either by putting sand on the beach periodically, or in one go.

A scheme to enhance the protection of the villages is potentially eligible for government funding; however, there remains an estimated

Cllr Angie Fitch-Tillett, Deputy Leader of North Norfolk District Council said “We are working with the Terminal operators to see what we can do together. This option has the potential to help buy time for our villages, potentially extending the life of the existing defences by 20 years giving people time to plan and adapt to the changing coastline.”

Further work is now underway to investigate any environmental impact of such a new licensed extraction area, before a view can be taken about whether that option could be considered further.

It is understood that if funds cannot be found for the wider public scheme then Bacton Gas Terminal operators would have to press ahead with the scheme for the Terminal only.

Get ahead of the game with free start-up business workshops

Anyone considering starting their own business is being urged to take the opportunity to attend one of a new series of free start-up workshops running in North Norfolk.

The half-day workshops will be delivered by local Enterprise Agency Nwes, supported by North Norfolk District Council and funded by the European Regional Development Fund to guide aspiring entrepreneurs through the main areas to consider when setting up a business, giving a firm foundation on which to trade successfully. The workshops require no previous business experience and will cover finance, market research, legal requirements and business planning so that those attending will have a real understanding of the critical areas to focus on to make their business a success.

Norman Lamb MP said “Work on this scheme is of the utmost importance. It is clearly critical that Bacton Gas Terminal, a strategically important site, is protected against further coastal erosion. However, it is also essential that when works are carried out to protect the gas terminal, every opportunity is explored to seek to improve the coastal management situation for the adjacent villages of Bacton and Walcott.”

Cllr Nigel Dixon, cabinet member for business and economic development said “These workshops are an excellent opportunity for anyone thinking of setting up a new business. It’s a chance to learn and grow in confidence, while also seeing business ideas from different angles.”

North Norfolk District Council, the operators

The programme includes sessions in North Walsham and Cromer with the first event in Fakenham on 24th March. Those attending will also be able to receive free business advice after the scheduled programme of events.

The new programme follows similar successful start-up programmes run by Nwes where attendees described the workshops as being the catalyst for “changing the way I look at my business” and an “excellent investment of time” that “stopped me making some basic mistakes”.

Andrew Wilson Nwes Head of Enterprise Services said “These workshops focus on the basics of starting a business properly helping the new business owner to concentrate on putting the right foundations in place to give them the best chance of business success. The sessions are delivered by our team who support hundreds of people to start trading each year and have a huge amount of experience and insight to tap into. It’s a great opportunity for North Norfolk start-ups to get ahead of the game.”

Thursday 31 March 19.30 – 21.30 at Aylmerton Village Hall, NR11 8PX. Indoor meeting illustrated talk by Moss Taylor "The History of Birding in North Norfolk" based on his highly successful appearance at Sheringham Little Theatre, earlier this year. This replaces the previously advertised talk by David Tipling.

Since before the days of the Victorian bird collectors, north Norfolk has been renowned as an area that attracts wildfowl, waders and

rare birds. In this illustrated talk, Moss Taylor traces the development of birdwatching from the early local wildfowlers and ‘Gentlemen Gunners’, to the establishment of the bird reserves at Cley and Blakeney Point. Norfolk has a rich source of written material on the change from the era of collecting to modern day conservation, and extracts from this, along with some of the fascinating characters that achieved these changes form the basis of A History of Birding in North Norfolk.

Please park along Church Road or in the overflow car park at the church. A torch might be helpful, as the village has no street lighting. To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing. Free entry and refreshments available in the interval.

“This means every child whose family need to use the service of the Foodbank over Easter will receive an Easter Egg” says Ella King, Project Manager for Cromer and District Foodbank.

Let’s keep looking for that sunshine so that we can enjoy some good, healthy walks in our beautiful countryside. Rather than the seaside, have a look at some of the fascinating villages we have inland in North and North East Norfolk. We have fifteen of those, all beginning with a different letter, hidden in the CHRONICLE WORDSEARCH. How many can you find?

Success at last! Boots has now been reunited with his family and they were delighted to see him after nearly two months. Because we knew that he was a much-loved member of the family that had recently moved to their new home, and were very anxious to be reunited with him, we had been putting food out to establish a routine and encourage him to visit us to gain his trust. Initially, he only visited at night, which is not the best time to try and catch him. However, once he realized that food would be available when he made his presence known, it didn’t take very long, after his family were informed that he was feeding, that they were able to finally reunite them. It does sometimes take a little time to achieve the required result. When putting him into the cat carrier it was obvious that he had not lost weight or condition while missing from home so other people must have been feeding him too. Because this was happening it took longer than usual to reunite Boots with his family. Please remember feeding a strange cat that has appeared in your gar-

Collectors can purchase unique pieces of art while raising vital funds for Redwings Horse Sanctuary as the charity’s annual art sale returns. Starting in April, Redwings’ Aylsham Visitor Centre in North Norfolk will be opening its doors again to art enthusiasts and Sanctuary supporters who will be able to peruse and buy pieces from its collection of donated artwork. From reproduction prints of well-known paintings and classically framed works depicting traditional countryside scenes, to modern colourful pieces by amateurs and professionals alike on an eclectic range of subjects, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event. There will also be a wonderful collection of sketches, watercolours and acrylics created for Redwings by its supporters, including a beautiful portrait of one of the charity’s Adoption Stars, rare-breed Poitou donkey Arya. Prices of artwork will range from £5 to £120, so there will also be something to suit every budget, plus every penny raised from the art sale will go directly towards the care of Redwings’ 1500 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. If you’re a budding artist or if you have any unwanted paintings, sculptures or textiles tucked away, Redwings welcomes further donations of artwork to exhibit and sell at the Aylsham event. Donated pieces can be accepted up until Tuesday 26 April. For more information and to donate an item, please contact Anne Galloway by emailing agalloway@redwings.co.uk or calling 01508 481070. Redwing’s art sale takes place on Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May and on the following weekend Friday 6 to Monday 9 May, 10am to 4pm, at Redwings Aylsham, Spa Lane, Aylsham, Norfolk NR11 6UE. Entry is free.

den may be encouraging it to leave home and cause a great deal of distress.

The number of cats in care has been limited recently as some essential maintenance has been needed on the pens at Dilham. The perspex parts of the pen roofs have now been replaced by solid roofs, making them cosier for the winter months and cooler should we have some hot days this summer. The felt on the housing units and also on the sheds has also been replaced which will help keep Boots reunited with his very them nice and dry for the next few years. Although several cats have been rebest friend, Alice homed recently, including Boco, cat featured last time, there are lots of new cats arriving to fill the empty spaces and, with the kitten season just around the corner (although we do hope the Neutering Campaign will have helped to prevent so many unwanted kittens needing our help), there is no doubt that our waiting list will soon be back to normal. If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 (to see if you are eligible for a voucher). This number is for vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number alsoapplies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign. If you are looking for a cat or kitten (or have any other queries) please give Stephanie a call on 01692 535858. Alternatively you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk for a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a call on the above number to find out where any particular cat is being fostered.

NORFOLK SENIORS CRICKET 2016

www.northnorfolkfencing.com

It is often said that cricket like most sports is a young man's game, that is not the case here in Norfolk. Norfolk Seniors Cricket consists of teams for the over 50s, over 60s and over 70s, cricketers who have never fallen out of love with the game and eagerly await the start of a new season. Whilst the running in the field may not be quite as quick, the standard remains high with batsmen still getting big scores and the bowlers continuing to take wickets. The competiveness associated with the game does not diminish, the desire to win, and win well remains. 2016 for the Over Seventies is a rather special year. On 15 July at Cromer Cricket Club they will be entertaining a senior side from Australia. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a splendid day, watch some enjoyable cricket with "the old enemy" and get to chat with players from both sides.
