Sheringham Church prepares for Uganda Sewing Marathon
Continued from front cover... This follows the well supported 24-hour sew-athon last year when scrap materials were used to create a large amount of reusable sanitary wear for the ladies and young girls in Uganda.
Organiser Jo Mutton explains “We would love to welcome as many crafty sewers as possible! This time, as well as continuing with the sanitary pads, predominantly we would like to make simple dresses out of pillowcases for the girls. This gives scope for the more creative to flourish although it is possible to keep them very simple! Even if you can’t sew but would like to help there is always cutting and pinning to be done, and we will be thrilled to see you. Any amount of time you can give will be much appreciated, it’s amazing what can be done in just half an hour!
“In order to produce the dresses and pads we are asking for donations of used cotton-mix pillowcases and duvet covers (patterned ones would be fab), wide elastic (up to one inch), any oddments of ribbon/lace/ for straps or decoration, and towels. Surplus material will be made into headbands to complement the dresses. On behalf of Reed People, thank you for your continued support and for making a difference to the women/girls of Lumpewe.”
Free refreshments will be served throughout the day, and activities will be available for any children that come with adults. The Sewathon will run from 8am to 8pm on Saturday 24 February 24 at Lighthouse Community Church, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT.
For more information about the charity visit www.reedpeople.org or contact Jo Mutton about the event itself on 07876113035.
The pictures show the goods and materials from last year’s Sewathon being distributed to the ladies and girls in Lumpewe.

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT
We now have two coffee mornings in Sheringham during Fairtrade Fortnight.
The first at St. Peter's Parish Church, on 27 February at 10.30am and the second at St Andrew's Methodist Church on 9 March - this one also celebrates the Church’s 50th Anniversary and 15 years of it being a Fairtrade Church!
The UK Government is doubling all donations to the Fairtrade Charity, Traidccraft Exchange from 12 January – 11 April. With your help, we can help twice as many ‘hidden entrepreneurs’ living in poverty.
We look forward to seeing you. Brenda Smith (Fairtrade for Sheringham Group)

New Loco for North Norfolk Railway
2 Desserts for £9.00!
The locomotive was a regular performer on the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway and has been in the ownership of the 13809 Preservation Society for 43 years. After carrying out winter maintenance the locomotive will be appearing regularly on trains between Sheringham and Holt.
HANDYMAN Clint Brown Property Services
The 13809 Preservation Society based hitherto at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley have worked hard over the years developing 53809 into a very reliable locomotive. John Moorhouse said “After completing a major overhaul our loco was able to attend the West Somerset Railway Gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the S&DJR closure in 2016. The members of the Society realised that the time had arrived to accept help with the continued maintenance of 53809. Following two very enjoyable visits to the NNR for their Galas an offer of such help was discussed. This has been developed into, what we hope, will be a long term relationship. The NNR, using their now excellent facilities, will undertake ongoing maintenance assisted as and when possible by the experience gained by the 13809 Preservation Society members during the last 43 years of ownership”.

North Norfolk Railway PLC (NNR) is very happy to announce the arrival at Weybourne Shed of the ex S&D 2-8-0 – 7F – no. 53809.
Hugh Harkett, Managing Director at the NNR commented “This iconic engine is much coveted and has been in our sights for a long time now. We are so pleased that the owning group led by John Moorhouse has consented to loaning the engine to us here. Indeed we hope she will become a long term resident in Norfolk”.
The North Norfolk Railway is based at Sheringham in Norfolk and runs trains regularly between there and Holt as well as the occasional ‘North Norfolkman’ dining trains to and from Cromer. A full week’s service is available from April through to October and generally at weekends in other months.

Antiques Roadshow to be filmed in Cromer BBC One show will be filmed BBC One’s Antiques Roadshow – regularly watched by six million people on Sunday evenings – will be filmed on Cromer Pier and promenade in May.
The show, one of BBC One’s most popular programmes, attracts an average of 3,000 to 4,000 visitors, spread through a full day. A day’s filming creates two shows for broadcast a few months after shooting. The show tours the country, visiting iconic houses, parks and gardens. This will be the first time the show has been filmed on a pier.
The event on 24 May will boost local business, increase footfall in the town in the week before half term and put the North Norfolk District Council owned Cromer Pier on the international television stage.
Cromer Pier is owned and maintained by North Norfolk District Council. The Council is spending ÂŁ275,000 in 2018 to improve the Pier facilities and a further ÂŁ150,000 on annual maintenance surveys for the next five years. North Norfolk District Council is proud to be a custodian of this award winning national treasure.
Cllr Tom FitzPatrick, Leader of North Norfolk District Council, said “The wonderful asset that is North Norfolk District Council’s Cromer Pier will be on show to the world through the screens of one of the BBC’s leading television programmes. We look forward to hosting an exceptional event in May and seeing the finished product on our television screens later in the year.
Cllr Maggie Prior, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said “North Norfolk District Council’s iconic Cromer Pier will provide a unique setting for the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. It will be most interesting to see what local treasures are brought along and how many may be linked to our coastal or seaside history. What a treat this will be for the residents of North Norfolk!
Cllr Hilary Cox, ward member for Cromer Town, said “What a wonderful opportunity for people to showcase their antiques at such an iconic
venue and Cllr Andreas Yiasimi, ward member on pier and promenade for Cromer Town, added “It’s a great opportunity to show the beauty of Cromer and North Norfolk to the wider world.
Cllr John Lee, ward member for Suffield Park, said “I'm delighted to welcome the BBC to Cromer and the unique setting of Cromer Pier and Cllr Nigel Pearce, ward member for Suffield Park, commented “This is a most welcome visit to the jewel of the North Norfolk Coast to view many gems.
Robert Murphy, series producer of Antiques Roadshow, said “We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors when we bring Antiques Roadshow to Cromer Pier. It’s the first time the Roadshow has been to a pier and we’re looking forward to entertaining our visitors by the seaside and along the promenade. It promises to be an entertaining day out at the start of the summer and we’re looking forward to seeing cherished objects and hearing personal stories – make a day of it!
As well as Cromer, the Roadshow will be visiting Eltham Palace & Gardens in Greenwich, The Piece Hall in Halifax, Crathes Castle in Scotland, Erdigg in Wrexham, Wrest Park in Bedfordshire, MediCityUK in Salford Quays, Buckfast Abbey in Devon and Aerospace Bristol in South Gloucestershire.
WHY CHOOSE SILVER SIL VER & W ARD WARD SOLICITORS SOLICIT ORS in 201 ? 201 ?
“It’s a recurrent misconception that a larger firm is better.
I am Clare Mayell and I own Silver and Ward Solicitors in Sheringham. I am an extremely competent and experienced solicitor. I appreciate that any time of the year can be a difficult difficult time for many people to resolve legal issues of worry and concern, for example, making a will or Lasting Power of Attorney. As I have worked for 2 larger local firms I know what clients want and expect. My charges are significantly less than other solicitors in North Norfolk or Norwich and I provide 22 years of expertise and exceptional service. I pride myself in being one of the only solicitors who offers offers a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT APPOINTMENT,, so clients can come in and obtain some initial advice and discuss costs and then make an informed decision. At a larger firm you just pay more. When a client rings or walks through the door they invariably get to speak to me as this personal and direct approach is important to my clients and I. I ensure complete confidentiality is an absolute priority. offer fer the same I advise new clients to “shop around as I know that my charges are significantly less than other solicitors but I can of expertise, if not better. I have and can act for clients across Norfolk and the Country as we now have the use of Skype, emails etc. so it enables me to act for clients further afield. The reason that clients, near and far, instruct Silver and Ward is because of my expertise, exceptional service and competitive costs.
“I would say to any potential client with a legal issue or worry in 201 to come and meet me face to face for a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT, as you have nothing to lose but all to gain.
Home visits can be arranged or appointments outside of office hours including Saturdays. 01263 823465 or email clare@silverandward.co.uk

Treat your skin this winter
Cost effective, skin rejuvenation treatments special packages are available
You are still active and you feel great. But, the effects of time, sun, wind and toxins in our air have taken their toll on the appearance of your skin. It’s not as smooth as it was when you were younger. Now there are effective procedures available to reverse these changes. We have created special cost effective packages to look after your skin during the winter months.
1] Polish and Brighten. This is a fantastic treatment to polish and brighten the skin. This includes diamond microdermabrasion to exfoliate the skin. Not only this exfoliates and polishes your skin, it also stimulates collagen synthesis in the deeper layers to improve the overall skin quality. Microdermabrasion is then followed by LED treatment with a red light to further improve and brighten your skin to give it a nice glow.
2] Tone and Tighten. This includes treatment with our gentle lasers to give a nice even tone to your skin. Although you will notice results after one session, for best results we suggest a course of these and packages are available. Of course any of these treatments can be combined with our excellent range of skin products and other state-of-the-art treatments to look after your skin year around.

AFTERMATH OF A CRASH YES
Yes, they know they should not have been in the car that night. Yes, they know the extent of the damage done. Yes, they have said their sorries, and tried to put things right. Yes, they will have to live with the consequences, whatever they are. Yes, they will deal with what comes their way. BUT – WERE YOU THERE? Were you there when the phone said come quick? Were you there when we were stopped, and not allowed to go through? Were you there when the emergency crews all pulled away, leaving her there, because of the smell of petrol? Were you there when she was still stuck in the car? Were you there, knowing that the screams were her screams of fear? Were you there when he collapsed out cold on the road? Were you there to hear his mother’s heart wrenching screams? Were you there to see the car stuck in the house with her still in it? Were you there to feel the relief when they had cut her out? Were you there in the Ambulance, watching the pain and fear play out? Were you at the A & E hearing her cries? Were you there to cope with the media frenzy, the dreaded Facebook, the judgements, the grapevine gossip & the lies? WERE YOU THERE? Are you here now? Are you here now with the nightmares? Are you here now with the sleepless nights? Are you here now, with the ongoing health worries, and ongoing mental trauma?
IF YOU ARE HERE, God bless you and thank you Those that know they were there for us and still are – bless you and thank you all. Yours thankfully Jenny Harrison Our thanks go to The Ship, all the emergency services and all the other good people that have helped us through this. Charity Night on the Pier
On 10 March Cromer Pier will host the 6th charity night that Graham Jones has organised and it promises to be an exceptionally good show, which will include local Comedian Pat Nearney. In all, Graham estimates that some £12,000 has been raised for various charities, including Sheringham Little Theatre Stars Appeal, Help for Heroes, Air Ambulance, and the current beneficiaries Break, The Benjamin Foundation and Playing for Cake.
Graham is grateful that the musicians give their time for free and the famous Cromer pier theatre provide a heavily discounted use of the theatre. He said “They are a great bunch of people working at the Pier who are so helpful – I particularly appreciate the skills of the technical people.” One unusual entertainer in this year show will be Russian Musician Boris Konoshenko who currently lives in Swafield. He will accompany popular mezzo soprano Maggy Day, a singer who has been influenced by such as Bette Midler, Eva Cassidy and the soulful sounds of Billie Holiday. Boris Konoshenko will also sing a Russian Folk song in English. Ticket are now on sale at the Pier Theatre 01263 512495 – book early for the best seats. There will also be a grand draw organised by Break and Benjamin Foundation and the prizes will include two free tickets to the famous Summer Pier show.

NENBC Events
Hickling Broad & later Stubb Mill for Winter Raptor Roost on 18 February 12:30pm – 5pm this event is for both beginners and reasonably experienced birders.
We will first look for winter species, particularly wildfowl and waders, at Hickling Broad (a walk of perhaps an hour around the reserve reed-bed) and then walk to Stubb Mill to watch the winter raptor & crane roost. This is a lunchtime and afternoon trip.
We will meet at the Hickling NWT car-park NR12 0BW at 12.30 for an initial al fresco lunch (bring your own!). The grid reference is TG 428 222. The NWT Visitor Centre has picnic tables and toilets. Currently their web site does not indicate any opening hours for the cafe.
The afternoon raptor-watch is at Stubb Mill, which is reached with a moderate walk from the NWT car-park. Stout footwear or wellies are essential as some areas are wet underfoot. Warm windproof clothing is also essential because the raptor watch involves standing in the open, possibly for a couple of hours, which can be cold, but its also rewarding with the possibility of seeing Common Cranes, Hen Harriers, Marsh Harriers, Merlin, Buzzards, Short eared and Barn Owls coming in to roost. As the raptors can be distant a telescope is useful if you have one. Children are welcome if accompanied by well-behaved adults, but we regret no dogs. To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing. The walk will be led by Janice Darch.
Felbrigg Park Mid-Week Walk on 21 February 9am – 11am - this walk caters for all levels of ability. We

will take a leisurely walk around the Park & Lake, route dependent on the local bird and other wildlife likely to be present on the day.
Please wear clothing appropriate to the weather footpaths in Felbrigg can be muddy at any time of the year. Meet at Sexton's Lodge car park, off Lion's Mouth, NR11 8PS at the western end of the estate.
To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing. As usual, children are welcome if accompanied by well-behaved adults, but we regret no dogs.
'All About Swifts' talk with Dick Newell on 22 February 7.30pm - 9:30pm - since his retirement in 2002, Dick Newell has devoted much time to those aerial masters of the sky – swifts. Their noisy acrobatic flights over our towns and villages for just a few short weeks in summer have become increasingly less common in recent years, prompting Dick to find out what could be done to reverse their decline in Britain. As a result, many projects have been implemented and ideas generated, some of which are documented on actionforswifts.blogspot.co.uk. In 2016 Dick and ‘Action for Swifts’ were given a Marsh Award for Innovative Ornithology. His talk will cover the lifestyle of Common Swifts, the reasons for their decline, their migrations, and ideas for nest boxing. Venue - Aylmerton Village Hall, NR11 8PX. Please park along Church Road or in the overflow car park at the church. Please ensure that local residents can still access their driveways and there is sufficient clearance for agricultural vehicles to use the road. A torch might also be helpful, as the village has no street lighting. To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing.

Public views sought on improvements to Pretty Corner Woods Win a free family swim by filling in survey
North Norfolk District Council would like to hear the public’s views about what improvements could be made to Pretty Corner Woods.
The 165 acres of woodland and heathland near Sheringham are owned partly by North Norfolk District Council and partly by The Woodland Trust. Both parties would like to know the public’s views on the woods, including how often they visit, what they currently use the woods for and what facilities they would like to see added.
Cllr Maggie Prior, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said “We want to hear people’s views on this lovely piece of woodland. Five years ago we saw the completion of an investment scheme which included a number of improvements such as car park resurfacing, a wheelchair friendly path, waymarked trails, a boardwalk, leaflets and events.
Following the success of that investment, we believe there is still huge potential for future investment at Pretty Corner Woods to make it an even better place to visit. Public participation is a vital part of making this woodland even better and determining our next steps.”
The survey runs until late March and can be found at www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/PCWSurvey. 12

We have more than 20 rooms packed with fascinating objects - in fact, we are a bit like the Tardis, bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside and you can travel back in time every day.
We want people of all ages and from all walks of life. Our current team has women and men ranging from 18 to 80. The activities we can offer include being a room guide, visitor reception & shop, preparing and serving teas coffees and snacks in the cafe.
We can guarantee that you will have an enjoyable time here and make new friends and you will be helping a charity to keep going and help us continue to provide an award-winning experience to our visitors

In November, North Norfolk Photographic Society won a competition against nine camera clubs in the Fens. In December they won against two local clubs.
But on 20 January, they did it again! This time being the winner out of 36 clubs competing in the Cambridge Digital Interclub competition.
The President of the Cambridge Club, Chris Fell, presented the winner’s trophy to North Norfolk chairman, Malcolm English.

Bishops Stortford were 2nd with 94 points and there was a tie for 3rd place between Wayland, Saffron Walden and Ipswich - all with 92 points. Trophy presentation by Chris Fell to Malcolm English
The National Judge was David Gibbins.

Stamp duty stamped out for first time buyers Nic Sheldrake, Director, Hayes + Storr
The Budget announced on the 22nd November 2017 brought an immediate change to the initial stamp duty threshold for first time buyers, meaning that anyone buying their first home won’t be liable for stamp duty if the purchase price is below £300,000. For more expensive areas such as London, additional relief is available for purchases up to £500,000.00.
It is predicted that the stamp duty changes will help up to 95% of first time buyers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and up to 80% in London who are purchasing properties beneath the £300,000 threshold.
First time buyers will need to declare that they have never owned a property, either in the UK or abroad. The declaration will be contained in a Stamp Duty Return form, which can be
prepared by a solicitor on your behalf. Hayes + Storr will do this at no extra cost. If a property is being purchased by more than one individual, then all parties have to be first time buyers to qualify for the relief.
We at Hayes + Storr welcome the new relief and will be offering a 10% discount throughout the whole of 2018 on our conveyancing legal fees for first time buyers. We are keen to help those wishing to get on the property ladder and will do what we can to make the process easier. We are always available for an initial no obligation chat, and your transaction will be dealt with by a qualified property lawyer specifically allocated to your property purchase. Hayes + Storr Solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

A third of children are living in poverty in North Norfolk, new research shows
Data released today by the End Child Poverty coalition shows that 27% of children in North Norfolk live in child poverty, compared to over half of children in the poorest areas and less than a tenth in the richest.
New statistics show the extent of child poverty across the UK broken down by constituency, local authority and ward. In North Norfolk 27.43% (3,656 children) of children live in poverty, similar to the national average of 26.96% (3,702,020).
Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, said “These figures are seriously concerning. Something is really wrong with the way our country is run if the UK, one of the wealthiest in the world, can’t ensure the well-being of a quarter of its children. The Government needs to seriously consider how it is prioritising its spending, and the effect that is having on future generations.”
The new figures reveal that there are now constituencies within the UK where
more than half of children are growing up in poverty - compared to one in ten, in the areas with the lowest child poverty rates.
The figures also show that some of the most deprived areas of the UK have seen the biggest increases in child poverty since the coalition's local child poverty figures for December 2015. Increases of 10 percentage points in some areas demonstrate the growing crisis of child poverty in the UK.
“I struggle with the day-to-day-costs (of living) – with prices going up and up, the money coming in doesn’t reflect my outgoings. If the children need a new school uniform or if the washing machine breaks down – I can’t afford it. I make sure my children get what they need first. I cut back on myself.” Sonia
As price rises risk pushing ever larger numbers of children below the poverty line, the coalition is calling on the Chancellor to end the freeze on children's benefits.

'PLAY ON'
Rehearsals are now well under way for the Sheringham Players spring production which features two one act plays under the title 'Play On'. The production involves some well known and established members of the Players, and a number of new members.
The first play is a bittersweet comedy by Simon Williams entitled 'Happy Birthday Me ' and tells the story of retired actress Margot Buchanan who just wanted "a bottle of Claret and a couple of winners at Sandown" for her birthday. Instead she receives three separate visitors; her ex-husband Leo, an ageing film star fresh from a punch-up with a reporter, Leo's current wife Judy, and his latest mistress Sadie, an aspiring Shakespearian Juliet seeking Margot's acting advice. Just as the inevitable fireworks kick off, Leo surprises everyone ... and then the kissogram shows up ... 'Happy Birthday Me' is a touching and very funny comedy based on the authors earlier full-length play 'Laying the Ghost'.

This play is the directing debut of Imogen Bruce, who also appears in the production as the current Lady Buchanan. The second play, directed by Hazel Randall, is a follow up to the last sell out production of a Grimley play by The Sheringham Players in 2015. 'Last Panto in Little Grimley' by David Tristram features the long overdue sequel to the tremendously popular 'Last Tango in Grimley' and sees Gordon, Margaret, Joyce and Bernard from the Little Grimley Amateur Dramatics Society tackle the Christmas pantomime with predictable hilarious results. The performances are at The Sheringham Little Theatre from Thursday 15 - Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm and tickets are now available from the theatre box office at just £12.
Would you like to win free tickets to our next production? Then just visit our website at www.sheringham-players.org.uk and complete the online questionnaire to enter our free prize draw.
Holt and District Probus Club
After the disappointing news that the scheduled speaker for the February meeting was unwell, members of Holt & District Probus Club had received an SOS asking if any member could step forward at short notice to give a talk.
And so, after an excellent 3-course meal (including slow-cooked lamb shank) Alex Bennett stepped forward to talk about running a bookshop. When the brewery that Alex worked for got new owners, he and his wife started a bookshop in Ipswich.
Speaker Alex Bennett
They fitted the shop out with shelves – doing most of the work themselves – and contacted publishers and others to fill those shelves with books. They were not in a primary shopping street, but word soon got around and as they discovered, in a bookshop you are sometimes busy and sometimes not! They branched out by allowing a young man to use a back room for gramophone records and enjoyed their time (getting on for 20 years) in the book business.
XQ59559K001 05-Sep-2017 2:40
But times change, and when the Net Book Agreement (a fixed book price agreement between publishers and booksellers which set the prices at which books were to be sold) was first ignored by large retailers and then declared illegal, Alex and his wife disposed of the premises – and that is another story for which Mike Harrison BSc (Hons) RSCT DipISRM there is not registered practitioner enough space here!
Meetings of Holt and District Probus Club are normally held at lunchtime on the 1st Thursday each month at The Feathers in Holt. Enquiries about membership (or about a trial visit - visitors are most welcome) should be made to Secretary Alan Holmes on 01263 710782 or to Treasurer Ray Morgan on 01263 711489.

Did you know …
… Guide Dogs for the Blind have set up a support network for people who are blind or partially sighted in North Norfolk called the North Walsham Guide Dog Forum.
Guide Dogs for the Blind has a network of locally based support forums across the UK. North Norfolk has its very own forum called the North Walsham Guide Dog Forum (NWGDF). This group meets every 3 months in North Walsham.
Chris Waller from Sheringham is visually impaired and a newly appointed volunteer for Guide Dogs as media handler for NWGDF. He commented "The purpose of the forums is to have a community group who can learn from key speakers, share and learn information and to raise issues which maybe concerning those with visual impairments in their local area. The forum can look at ways to resolve those issues with support via community engagement staff from Guide Dogs Organisation, and other subject matter experts. There is also a social element after the forum as some of the attendees enjoy a natter, spot of lunch and coffee in the pub afterwards". The forum is for: • All people who are blind, partially sighted • Their families, or carers and
• Anyone who would like to know more about Guide Dogs or those who may simply want to volunteer or would like to fundraise for the charity – every penny counts!
Current attendees are spread across North Norfolk including Sheringham, Cromer, Mundesley and North Walsham. "We have got some great guest speakers lined up for this year’s meetings. On 26 April we have Equal Lives and a Guide Dog puppy walker talking about puppy socialisation and early training. On 24 July Age UK and also the CEO of Norfolk and Norwich Blind Society will be our speakers and on 30 October our theme will be Fire Safety.
Chris commented "Although new to the role, I can already appreciate the value of this forum to our community for those sighted and those not. The enthusiasm and willingness of speakers attending the forum is a reflection of the great community spirit in North Norfolk, working together to achieve results. But we'd like to see even more people attend the forum, and learn even more"

She took a long time to gain any weight but now is nice and healthy. In spring she will be going to a home to live in an enclosed area as unfortunately she has a sight problem.
My latest arrival came in on 27 January. Corton was found in a garden under a bush at only 300grms.
I don't know how he had managed to survive for so long. I have given him a course of antibiotics and he is slowly gaining weight, so hopefully he will be big enough for a release in April.
Early risers will be starting to awake from hibernation.

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
The new cats mentioned last time have adapted well to being in care and we have had lots of interested in them with one already having been offered a new home. Stephanie is now contacting those interested and to be fair to people deals with all enquiries in the order she receives their telephone calls. If, therefore, there is more than one person interested in a particular cat she will check whether the first caller is able to offer the home and environment the cat requires before contacting the next person. If the first caller and Stephanie believe the cat would be suitable a time and date will be arranged for them to visit the cat and if all goes well arrangements are made for the cat to go to its new home. Only then can Stephanie contact them to advise whether the cat is still available. Unfortunately people who contact via the website are advised they do need to call they can on occasion be too late to offer a home to a particular cat.
Over the years we have seen many cats and although we love them all while with us, some are remembered over the years because of their history. One such cat was Ivy, a dear little black and white cat handed into our care nearly 10 years ago as a stray. As she was a stray she was blood tested for FIV/ FELV at the vets and unfortunately the test came back positive. A further test was then carried out by an outside laboratory as recommended by Cats Protection and although we have often then been advised the second test shows a negative result, unfortunately in Ivy’s this was not the case. Being FIV positive Ivy needed a home where she would be kept inside to prevent her infecting other cats or because of her compromised immune system, being
Missing Cat
Our cat Gingey is missing from Childs Way in Sheringham. He was last seen on Tuesday, 30 January and has just vanished.
He is 7 years old and ginger with a white chest and all paws are white. He has never gone away before, this is not like him and we are desperate to get him back.
We have put letters through people’s doors and put up posters, but no one knows anything. He is very friendly and micro chipped, and registered with Sheringham vets.
infected by other cats. It was not long before a lovely couple who lived in an area where it was not safe to allow a cat to roam offered her a home. As the lady of the house had health problems, having Ivy to love and care for was a great comfort to her. Over the years we have had updates on Ivy from her new family and until recently she had been in remarkably good health. Sadly, Gandaulf, lovely blue eyed boy, one last week we learnt that she had of the cats from the multicat home. died. Ivy was approximately Gandaulf has had to stand his ground 12 years old and had 10 goods in his past life. He is FIV neg. years being a much loved member of the household. For those whose home situation prevents them from having a cat which can go outside, a cat that has tested positive for FIV is a possibility. We have re-homed several over the years and all have been very loving cats with nice gentle natures.

Choir Needed
I lost my 76 year brother just before Christmas. His last years were spent in a care home in London. When I got back to Salthouse where I live I was in my garden watching the seagulls thinking he never had this joy. I wrote a song ‘he never saw the seagulls fly’. After I finished the song something was telling me that it was crying out for a choir. I would be more than happy to send the song via email in its rough form (just me on the guitar) to anyone who think they could help me at tandmterry@hotmail.co.uk Tom Terry
