Lest We Forget
This year’s Remembrance Day marks 100 years since the end of World War 1 in which 886,000 members of the British Military perished. 15,500 of those were from Norfolk. Handmade poppies, one for each individual killed, went on display at St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich. Organiser Sarah Salmon, project co-ordinator for Norfolk County Council’s Libraries and Information Service, had the idea for the display a year ago and the poppies have come in from all over the county and abroad, each one unique but together make MEAL, TICKET & a stunning and TRAVEL thought provoking Sea Marge Hotel display. As Sarah Overstrand herself remarked, £73.50pp -Meal, Ticket, & Travel “a fitting tribute”. £43.50 Ticket Only

Sheringham’s Remembrance and Commemoration Project
Sheringham Town Council, in common with many villages, towns and cities, nationally and internationally, wanted to ensure those locally who had given their lives in World War One were appropriately honoured, The Council also wanted to acknowledge the debt owed to the whole community, for the way everyone had responded to the challenges the conflict brought.
The result was a partnership with Beeston Regis and Upper Sheringham Parish Council, and many organisations and businesses working locally. The project co-ordinated activities being put on by various groups throughout November 2018, and published a programme of events.
This programme is contained in ‘Sheringham at War – 100 Years On’, a high quality, softback book, published by Briston-based Out of the Box Publishing, on behalf of the Sheringham World War One Centenary Commemoration and Remembrance Project. It was officially launched by General the Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL, former Chief of the General Staff.
With input from local historians, working with Sheringham Museum, and unparalleled access
to the museum’s archive material, the book gives a unique insight into those from the community who went to war and those they left behind.
Among commemorative events to be held are special film screenings, recitals and talks, a ‘Music for Remembrance’ concert by the Sheringham & Cromer Choral Society, services of remembrance on Sunday 11 November and a ‘Battle’s Over’ beacon lighting ceremony on The Leas.
Sheringham Museum will be staging a special WWI exhibition ‘Lest We Forget’, with free entry over the weekend of 10/11 November.
Within the pages of ‘Sheringham at War – 100 Years On’, details are given of those who lost their lives, as well as those who returned. Also featured, are the three Ardley brothers, conscientious objectors who became Red Cross field ambulance drivers, a very courageous and dangerous occupation. They

Any surplus funds from the project will be donated to the British Legion Poppy Appeal and Help for Heroes. Additional material will be made available in due course on a new Sheringham at War website.
In addition to these events, Sheringham Town Council are organising a ‘Tribute to the Fallen’, with life size figures representing those from Sheringham, Upper Sheringham and Beeston Regis who were killed in the First World War, as recorded on local war memorials. These will be displayed in various schools, churches, businesses and organisations throughout November.
On Saturday 10 November, between 10am and 4pm, there will be displays including videos, photographs, information and music at St Peter’s Church, Sheringham Museum, Sheringham ‘Off to war, be home for Christmas’, send off will take place at North Norfolk Railway Station at 4.30 pm, with a parade of the ‘Tribute to the Fallen’ figures on the platform, before they depart on a steam train, with refreshments and music of the time for those seeing them off.

North Norfolk District Council install WW1 Tommy figures
The figures will raise money for armed forces charities
A third Tommy has been erected in Holt Country Park and a fourth, smaller 30 centimetre Tommy has been installed in NNDC’s main reception.
Three six foot tall Tommy silhouettes have been installed on land belonging to North Norfolk District Council as part of the centenary commemorations of the end of World War One.
North Norfolk District Council’s Cromer office has become home to two of the silhouettes, which have been created as part of the ‘There But Not There’ 2018 Armistice project for the charity Remembered.
The project is described as being 'the defining centenary commemoration of the end of the 1914-18 war' and aims to commemorate, educate and heal.
By purchasing the three Tommies, NNDC has helped fund such veterans’ charities as The Royal Foundation’s Armed Forces Programmes, Help for Heroes, The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation and many more.
The life-sized Tommy figures will stand alongside the existing 'Poppies in Steel' metallic sculpture installed in 2015 to commemorate centenary of World War One.
A service of remembrance for staff and elected members was held to officially dedicate the Tommies on 9 November.
North Norfolk District Council is also marking the Armistice centenary by giving packets of Flanders poppy seeds to local organisations including Town and Parish Councils, schools and care homes in North Norfolk. The organisations are being invited to sow the poppy seeds as a symbol of remembrance and respect for all those whose lives have been impacted by war. Once sown the number of poppies should increase year on year and will provide an annual glorious display of colour and a visible lasting legacy across North Norfolk. Cllr Nicholas Coppack, Chairman of NNDC, said: “Although this year marks the hundredth anniversary of
the armistices we must never forget the sacrifices, not just from our service personnel but the millions of civilians who died during the last dreadful two World Wars.
“We will continue to remember them. These poignant statues are a permanent reminder of the loss.”
Remember
In Flanders fields of poppies Lay soldiers brave and true Who fought so we had our freedom The likes of me and you. That’s why we war our poppy To keep our memories clear Of those brave men who fought for us Still lay in graves out there. It’s November when we think of them most The time the conflict was won When those that could came back again A hero every one. So be sure to buy your poppy And remember whose we lost And wear it with great pride Not for what it cost. R Craske

At Silver and Ward we pride ourselves in giving our clients peace of mind with our expert legal advice explained in plain English. We work extremely hard during our lives to provide for family and loved ones. However, the majority of us fail to ensure that continues if we become unwell, or when we pass away. So, how can you guarantee that? (1) LPAs (Lasting Power of Attorney) – are a safety net for you and your loved ones if you were to be involved in an accident, or have a diagnosis leading to diminished mental capacity. It is incredibly important to have them in place no matter how old you are. As surprising as it sounds, your spouse, or partner, does not have any legal right to make health decisions on your behalf, or deal with your money and property if you are unable to.
(2 ) Wills – can help you to secure a future for those you leave behind. If you do not leave a Will the Law decides who will inherit your estate. This may not be what you want and it is unlikely to provide adequately for your family. A Will prepared by Silver and Ward can provide reassurance and peace of mind for you and your family and help reduce any risks and pitfalls that may arise in the future. We will write it in plain English to avoid any misunderstandings. We offffer fixed fees for Wills and LPAs so you know immediately how much it is going to cost and a FREE INITIAL APPOINTMENT. We can meet with you in your home, Nursing Home, or Hospital at no extra cost.
In the words of Benjamin Franklin “Never leave till tomorrow that which you can do today”.

Cllr Wyndham Northam
‘It is with great sadness that North Norfolk District Council announces the death of Cllr Wyndham Northam at the weekend, following a short illness.
He was much admired and hugely respected by those he worked with, both officers and politicians.
Cllr Northam, who was 89 years old, gave a lifetime to public service. He served a total of 15 years for the Mundesley ward on the District Council, including seven years on the Cabinet. He brought a great deal of expertise to the Council working on his finance portfolio. He was a 6

We Will Remember Them
Members of the Macmillan Cancer Support North Norfolk Group visited St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich to see the moving display of 15,500 handmade poppies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. They were met and shown round by Sarah Salmon who came up with the idea for the display a year ago. She collected all of the poppies and stuck each one onto bunting tape in order to create this moving display.
Poppies poured in from across Norfolk, including about 300 from the Macmillan Group, as well as contributions from abroad, from Brownie and Scout groups, all in a variety of materials. Many contributions came with individual family stories.
Each poppy represents a life lost in the conflict, “somebody said the best thing was, even though they were following a pattern, each of the poppies is unique, just like the soldiers, and I think that’s a really fitting tribute said Ms Salmon. The display has now been dismantled and will be distributed to form smaller displays around the county.
Kelling Probus Club
Kelling Probus Club held its October meeting at the Dales Hotel. Upper Sheringham on 18 October. As always 24 of us met for a drink followed by a delicious lunch and lots of happy intelligent conversation. Chairman Mike Clayton then welcomed our guest speaker Graeme Simmonds who spoke on 'The Ground below your Feet' - a very informative talk on what he has found over the years field walking and using a metal detector.
Graeme first covered the items of stone tools he had found made mainly from local flint the age of some of these was thousands of years BC. He stated that the tool making before metals were used was a very clever task and it took days to make some of his artefacts, many he had found by just walking ploughed fields.
He then moved on to buckles which he had found covering the 14th to 18th centuries and how styles varied.

Keys were his next subject and he brought a collection which dated back hundreds of years. Keys were often regarded as a status symbol.
He then covered a medal he found in a furrow where he was able to trace back to a local man who was in the army in the early 1900s.
Graeme's final collection was coins he had found dating back to Roman times to the middle ages - an impressive collection was passed round and admired.
At the end of his talk he answered many questions and was thanked by Stan Gregory for a brilliant talk.

Beach cleans prove a hit with forward-thinking businesses
North Norfolk District Council invests in equipment to enable larger groups of eco-aware individuals to partake in campaign
district’s beaches (six of them being Blue Flag beaches) rubbish-free.
The #2minutebeachclean has been a popular activity for many along the North Norfolk coast since they were introduced in 2017. An additional five beach clean boards, sponsored by NNDC, were installed in April this year and have continued to be popular.
North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has boosted the number of litter pickers available along the coast following the huge popularity and success of the #2minutebeachclean campaign.
NNDC has received enquiries from larger groups keen to join in the campaign and these new pickers mean that even more people can get involved. NNDC also provides thick plastic bin bags with hoops and will collect the rubbish the groups find at the beach.
It means that more people can use the beach-cleaning equipment, which has been available for smaller groups for some time to help keep the
The most recent group that has taken advantage of the litter picking equipment was a sales team from Mars Wrigley Confectionery. They photo: MARS undertook the beach clean as part of their volunteer program and wanted to do something for the area covered by their sales division.

Wildlife Sculpture Exhibition
An exhibition of Wildlife Sculpture by Lorraine Izon will be held at Cley Marshes Visitors Centre on Coast Road, Cley from 14 to 17 November.
Lorraine says “I love the wild scenery of North Norfolk and being able to get so close to the abundant wildlife here is always inspiring and a real privilege. I try to reflect my love of the natural world through my sculptural work, not so much by copying it full on, but more by catching a fleeting glimpse and then joining the dots by adding my own interpretations of my experiences. I am interested the fleeting shapes, forms and patterns that imprint on the memory. My exhibition at the Cley Marshes Visitors Centre will be a combination of my sculptural and tile work, plus a selection of paintings, prints and cards”

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection
Cassandra, Cressida, Layla and Mali, all under one year old, have gone to new homes since last time. We do still have several young cats in care, but also some lovely slightly older ones; cats like King Tut, who has such a lovely nature, we are surprised he is still with us, and Chewy, who loves people but not other cats. If you are looking for a new companion please consider giving a home to one of the older ones. Another cat has been handed into our care as she was taken to the vets as a stray. This little cat has not had the best of times recently as she is very thin and had a dreadful tummy upset when she joined us. Stephanie raided her freezer for fish, as even the special food we usually give cats in these situations was not working. Thankfully, she soon began to recover and is now on a diet of fish plus the special food mentioned previously. Because we are not sure how old she is and, as she was in such a bad condition that we could not rule out illnesses which would result in weight loss, the vets did
a full blood test rather than the usual one where we test for FIV/FELV. Thankfully these all came back as normal. She will be going back to the vets this week so that they can monitor her progress and Stephanie will replenish her freezer so that she can continue her path back to good health.
We are always happy to help with the cost of neutering feral colonies, and although we cannot help with catching the cats and getting them to the vets, we can loan one of our traps for this purpose. Because they will not be able to guarantee when the cats will go into the trap, we ask the person who will be responsible for catching them, to discuss the situation with the vets concerned. It will depend on which of the 5 veterinary practices we use for neutering how they will need to proceed. Some will be able to hold the cats overnight, if caught later in the day, while others can fit the cats in at the end of their operating list for the day. Once all the cats in the colony have been neutered we do ask that they make sure they return the traps to us as they are valuable items of equipment and may be required for another colony, to catch a stray
or timid cat, or even to reunite a cat with its owner.
If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 it (to see Ulysses, nice friendly if you are eligible young cat who came in for a voucher). from a home with too many This number is for cats vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number also applies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign. If you are looking for a cat or kitten (or have any other queries) please give Stephanie a call on 01692 535858. Alternatively, you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk/ for a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a call on the above number to find out where any particular cat is being fostered.

Dementia Care
As a Care Agency supporting individuals in the community, many of whom suffer with dementia I felt it was important for my staff to have this virtual experience. I am so glad we did and proud to be one of the first in our region, this was so valid and a timely reminder as to why those who suffer from Dementia react in the way they do in certain circumstances.
The whole training process was delivered professionally and our subsequent debrief covered so much more than anything that could be picked up in a text book because each of us experienced what it is really like first hand. One of our staff was reduced to tears many became frozen in shock and some experienced anger. We are so fortunate our experience was short lived but so many people live with this condition daily. The overriding message was it’s a different state of life but life never the less. When we consider that 1 in 4 of us will be affected by Dementia in some way; by knowing someone who has it or developing it ourselves within the next ten years it’s important to have as much understanding of this subject as possible. Next year when we have moved to our new offices on Garden Street we will repeat this training and invite family members to experience it for themselves. Tee Carver Registered Manager.
North Norfolk Photographic Society
North Norfolk Photographic Society welcomed Roy Essery to their meeting on 17 October. Roy is an eminent photographer from Colchester and he came with photo prints which he called the ‘Unseen’. That is to say, pictures he likes, but have mostly not been shown in competitions – so have not been seen by other photographers.
In fact – there were a lot of them! Some colour, some black and white. Roy described himself as a people person – he likes taking photos of people and gave advice to members on how to approach someone who he wanted to photograph. Basically, be polite, be unafraid and without telling the proposed subject that he or she is beautiful, to say perhaps that he or she has an interesting face. But above all to be bold and polite. Showing a still-life picture, he emphasised that still-life pictures were perhaps the one area where everything is under the photographer’s control.
Roy showed that he is more than ready to adapt a picture where necessary One Man and his Dog perhaps to copy in a better sky than the one that was there on the day.
Meetings of the North Norfolk Photographic Society are normally held on first and third Wednesdays each month at Holt Community Centre. For further details please contact the Club Secretary, Judith Wells at secretary.nnps@gmail.com or see the club website at http://www.nnphotosoc.org/

This expedition took place between 28 September and 5 October and followed the route from Corpach, through Fort William to Inverness. Twelve rowers were involved in the planning and the travelling. Bluejacket was the skiff chosen for the journey and she performed brilliantly. The canal rowers were ably looked after by the crew of Ros Crana, a beautifully equipped cruising barge, which served as a base for crew changes and as a safety vessel as the locks and the lochs were negotiated along the way. When not rowing, group members had opportunities to sail, walk, cycle or explore in a canoe. The food on board was excellent!
The rowing memories are many and varied. Negotiating Corpach Sea Lock and the Neptune’s Staircase system provided the initial challenge but all lock keepers were helpful and safety conscious so that this part of the voyage was a real pleasure. The first sight of Loch Ness from Fort Augustus was also quite a moment. Then there were the rows – in rain, wind and sunshine – across Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and, of course, Loch Ness. No sightings of Nessie. The camaraderie on board, on the water and on dry land was excellent. The expedition ended all too quickly. Such events have always been reliant on having a club member who is willing to tow. In the case of the Caledonian Canal, Tom Harris – club captain and trip organiser – must take full credit for taking this on. See some pictures of the Caledonian Adventure on the club web site at crablakeney.wordpress.com.
taken to Barton Turf on Monday 8 October. The waters around Barton are ideal for coaching sessions and these will be organised throughout the coming months. Why not make this your time to start rowing? Remember, you may sample three rows before deciding whether to join and no previous experience is necessary.
If you are interested in the fun of rowing, contact Tom on 01263-761570. You can also follow club activities on Facebook. See you on the water soon Barry Howes
A Barking Norfolk Brexit
Just when you thought you were safe popular Cromer author Paul Rosier has produced the latest in his series of ‘Barking’ books entitled ‘A Barking Norfolk Brexit’ examining Norfolk’s place in history as an independent part of the UK – we “du different” here – and offering an hilarious take on life outside of the EU. Including such gems as a spoof Dad’s Army script, a ‘Norfolk Guide to Immigration’, the Norfolk Citizenship Test, the Brexit songbook and a take on ‘Brexit – the Musical’, the books costs £5 and all profits support the work of Nelson’s Journey charity.
On the home front, there is now the chance for some bracing rows on the Norfolk Broads. Bluejacket, fresh from her Scottish journey, was

Hospital Ladies ‘dare to bare' for Cancer!
Brave nursing and admin staff from Cromer & District Hospital have decided to 'strip off and stand up to cancer' in order to raise funds for the redevelopment of the old Davison unit which will become a new chemotherapy unit for local people.
Julie Shaw, Waiting List Co-ordinator for the Muriel Thoms Day Procedure Unit, came up with the idea whilst watching ITVs 'Full Monty Ladies Night'.
Having approached the staff on the Unit and received a positive response, she then opened it up to all female staff and the numbers grew. Receiving positive support from the male staff (inc the Chief Exec!) the project was underway.
The Grove Hotel on Overstrand Road, Cromer kindly agreed to the use of their setting for a photo shoot across two weekends with two local photographers, Lucy Stevens of Patricia Jean Photography and Andrea Hudson who also offered to give their time and photos for free. Help with the formatting and printing was covered by Colourprint of Norwich who kindly offered a much reduced rate to allow as much profit as possible to the charity. The Hospitals Facilities Management also offered a generous donation toward the printing costs.
The 'Calendar Girls' is now on sale at the Hospital, Friends pop up shop (open Tues & Thurs 11-4) and The Grove, retailing at £10.
It is hoped to sell 350 copies. For patients with cancer and their healthcare team, the ‘ringing of the bell’ is a significant moment – a point in time that signals the end of active treatment and the beginning of a life free of cancer and the staff would like to try and raise enough money to purchase the bell.
DON’T DON’T ON’T MISS OUT Calendar 2019
We hope you enjoy our Calendar!
This is a special one It possesses beautiful powers Its ring sounds through this entire room As if rung from the highest towers. Its sound is soft and pretty Truly a gentle sound to hear But the real magic goes much deeper As its gift is so very dear. Battling cancer takes enormous strength It’s an exhausting, overwhelming fight We all need to truly believe That at the end of the tunnel there is light. Now imagine a day of chemo Maybe the beginning, middle or end Feeling that you can’t go on Needing support of an unexpected friend. Suddenly you hear the most uplifting sound And you look towards the bell’s place Standing there you see a stranger Or maybe a familiar face. You realize that this person Has completed their final lap And new friends all around the room Give a peaceful, supportive clap.

No, they don’t belong to a mother and daughter. These are pictures of the same hand and, guess what? - The one on the right is not 10 years younger but one year older. One year after Dr Sanjay Gheyi treated it at the Coltishall Cosmetic Clinic -that is. So what is the secret? Dr Gheyi often hears women say-‘I have my mothers hands’ or ‘my hands make me look older than I really am’. Well if this applies to you, read on… You too can reverse ageing of your hands so they don’t give your age away.
As we age we lose the hyaluronic acid in our skin, this is a protein and sugar molecule that binds water and keeps younger skin nice and plump. With a reduced amount of this substance in ageing skin the water content goes down resulting in crepey texture. We also lose collagen and accumulate pigment spots and broken capillaries on skin resulting in changes of ageing hands.
Now we can reverse these changes in a few short lunchtime treatments. The process starts with a thorough consultation with Dr Gheyi. He takes high quality digital pictures and these are assessed on the computer screen to determine a plan of action.
If loose or crepey skin is the main issue then minute injections of hyaluronic acid [HA] filler are made in the skin. The procedure is carried out under a local anaesthetic with a tiny needle so there is no pain or discomfort. This is a natural product, which binds water and restores skin vitality and texture. Best results are achieved after a series of these injections. These also have a preventative value as HA has been shown to have antioxidant action. If pigment, age spots or broken capillaries are the main issue then IPL/ laser skin rejuvenation is performed. This again is a no downtime painless procedure. Flashes of bright light help achieve complexion blending and make pigment and broken vessels fade or disappear completely. If the concerns are only minimal and you are after a one off treatment for a special occasion then diamond microdermabrasion can help.
But, what if the hands appear very old? Here Dr Gheyi may recommend laser resurfacing to remove raised areas of thickened, pigmented or very lax skin. This however requires 3-5 days of downtime as old skin is replaced by new skin which is free from blemishes. Modern technology and medical expertise now makes it possible to reverse ageing changes in your hands- whatever you feel your hand age is, it is never too late and best of all these are all ‘knifeless procedures’ and very affordable.

Life with Grandpa
Life with Grandpa is Pat Pinsent’s first venture into fiction for young readers. She moved from London to north Norfolk in 2012 because of her husband’s Alzheimers. Using an invented 10 year old granddaughter Debbie as narrator, Pat builds on her own experience as a carer for her husband, creating incidents which are both amusing and realistic, and sometimes embarrassing to a young girl.
‘Debbie isn’t happy when Granny and Grandpa sell their house and come to live with her family in the country. Now she and her little brother won’t be able to stay with her grandparents and have day trips to the zoo or the London Eye. But what is worse, Grandpa has dementia and Debbie dreads having to spend time with an old man who doesn’t even remember who she is …
Living in the same house as Grandpa does indeed present Debbie with some challenges but it also has its funny moments. At last she comes to realise that old people were young once!’
Pat Pinsent Life with Grandpa published by Authorhouse UK www.authorhouse.co.uk ISBN 9781546285809 price £8.95. To order call Authorhouse 0800 1974150 or order from Amazon.co.uk 20
Autumn
Sunlight catches autumn leaves spiralling from woodland trees, seagulls cry and fly inland for tasty titbits left by hand. The air is cool and crystal clear, it is my favourite time of year, I must get out into the sun and take my dog, Ben, for his run. There’s something new to see each day when we walk the country way, gone has the traffic and the noise – we’ve left behind those rowdy boys. I can feel the silence here, it’s just the same throughout the year, and in the quietness notice things like rabbits, mice and fluttering wings. The odd wild flower beneath the trees shows bright amongst the russet leaves. Peace and tranquillity I find here in the autumn of the year. Diane Berthelot

Tickets include breakfast, crafts, time with Santa and a gift, all rounded off with a story session. Tickets are on sale now £6.50 per child and £3.50 per adult. Book online at www.aylshamheritage.com or visit the centre in person. We have two needle felting Christmas craft sessions on Friday 23 November, where we will be making Santa tree decorations, and on 30 November where we will be making Robin tree decorations. From 10am – 12.30pm both sessions are suitable for those with no previous needle felting experience. All materials and refreshments are included. £15 per person, booking essential – via the website or contact the centre aylshamheritage@gmail.com
We have had lots of enquiries about the wreath making workshop we traditionally run at the centre and we are delighted to say that we are able to run this session again this year, thanks to the generosity of Peter and the staff at Woodgate nursery. The session will take place on Wednesday 5 December 10am – 12.30pm. Places do fill really quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment via the website or contact the centre aylshamheritage@gmail.com!

Pushing the boundaries - neighbour disputes and how to resolve them Amanda Nudds, Solicitor, Hayes + Storr
Neighbour disputes are nothing new and can arise for many reasons. One of the most common neighbour disputes relates to boundaries. Boundary disputes are often complex, and as the parties are frequently emotionally involved, it can be stressful and therefore important to try and reach a resolution as soon as possible, although it is not unusual for parties to be arguing over very small areas of land over long periods of time.
Parties will usually consider their boundary to be marked by a physical feature on the land such as a hedge or fence but these structures are not always consistent with Land Registry plans. It is often only when physical features such as these are removed or called into question that the actual position of the boundary is queried.
The first attempt at resolving any boundary dispute should always be to approach your neighbour first to see if there is a way forward to resolve issues amicably between you. This is not always possible and depends on the extent of the issue, how long it has been going on for and the relationship between the parties. As each dispute is factually different, a solicitor can provide specific advice on the issues you are experiencing and on the best course of action to try and resolve matters.
Initially it is important to establish the boundary
from deeds, documents and evidence, and consider whether they have been amended in any way – perhaps by informal agreement or by one party’s conduct over time. If you have tried to resolve the issue directly with your neighbour but your attempts have been unsuccessful, a solicitor can write to your neighbour to set out your position and try to work towards a satisfactory resolution for all parties.
There are occasions when correspondence between the parties still does not resolve matters. Before embarking on Court proceedings which can be an expensive process and take many months, the parties should consider Alternative Dispute Resolution. This is a term used to describe a range of formal methods for resolving disputes which can include mediation, adjudication and expert determination. If the parties cannot agree to resolve matters this way, or if mediation has been attempted but no agreement reached, then ultimately Court or Property Tribunal proceedings will be the final stage.
Bear in mind that it is necessary to disclose neighbour disputes when it comes to selling your property. If an issue escalates between you and your neighbour that may reasonably effect a buyers decision to purchase your property, your buyer could be in a position to
take legal action against you in the future.

Travelling
Have you ever wanted to go travelling round the world? Cross deserts on a camel, or sail seas with sails unfurled? Go white water rafting, or climb Mount Everest, Kayak round the Scottish Isles, take a train to Snowdon's crest?
In our daydreams we imagine travelling for miles, Yet to realise these trips, we'd have to change lifestyles! Many people plan and scheme, until one day they see, Their lives have passed, they are old, and they're no longer free.
To sail or trek or fly or climb, those dreams are for the young! Dicky hips and knees preclude adventures too far flung! So now they have a bucket list to do before they die. Their goals are much more modest, but they're still prepared to try. To swim with dolphins is something that they can safely do. Or fly in a hot air balloon, way up into the blue. Sail gently round a land locked lake, (No raging, storm tossed seas!) Only gentle quests and rides for voyagers like these.
They can navigate the world in 80 days or more, Or cruise the stunning, freezing fjords or fly to Baltimore! All these things are possible when you're no longer young. Keep mind and body active and you’ll keep travelling on!

Cromer based video artist has work exhibited in Taiwan opening up a path of exploration in the homogeneous space-time’.
Gregory Hayman, an artist based in Cromer, is having work exhibited in a prestigious international video art exhibition in a museum in the Taiwan capital of Taipei. The exhibition called ‘Offline Browser’ is being held at the Hong-Gah Museum in the city. The exhibition opened last month and runs for three months through to the middle of January 2019. Gregory is one of only two artists from the UK who are being shown in the exhibition, the rest of the 31 artists come from around the world. The exhibition committee considered work from 387 international artists from 59 countries before making its final selection, which includes Gregory’s work.
The theme of the exhibition is described by the museum as being about ‘preserving a space for an individual to turn around in the field of view of space and time dissolved by the internet and in between login and offline,
Gregory’s artwork is a video work called Dog. This video artwork is a response to the panic created by the migrant crisis and it looks at the tragic death of the three-year-old Syrian boy Alan Kurdi. It takes as its starting point an artwork, as is usual with Gregory’s work, and explores synergies between the artwork and events.
art, but he also makes sculptures and had three sculptures exhibited last year in an exhibition marking the centenary of Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain artwork, that was part of the Hull City of Culture’s programme. Gregory also makes prints and was also short-listed for the prestigious Jerwood Drawing Prize while still a student.
Gregory said “The artwork I chose was Goya’s Dog, or El Perro or Perro Semihundido (the Drowning Dog). It is one of Goya’s so-called ‘Black Paintings’. It is an intensely moving painting where the dog is given almost human like expression in the way it looks up tragically pleading for help. I usually spend a huge amount of time researching each artwork, and this one is no exception, including travelling to Madrid to look at the painting in the Prado Museum. But, whereas the research usually results in an artwork, in this case the research is the artwork.”

Empty homes – Council action to help get properties back into use
North Norfolk District Council has been pioneering an award winning approach to bringing empty homes back into use across the district Using an ‘enforcement board’, collaborative approach for the last four years the Council has helped to bring hundreds of homes back into use through a wide range of action from working together with owners to support renovations, demolition and re-building to taking enforcement action Mike Harrison BSc (Hons) RSCT DipISRM and undertaking compulsory purchase where owners fail to make positive changes.
Currently, less than 1% of North Norfolk’s housing stock is classed as being empty which is below the national average. In the last twelve months, North Norfolk District Council has reduced the number of empty properties by 20% from 603 to 482.
Where necessary, an application for a Compulsory Purchase Order could be made, which would see the homeowner instructed by the Government to sell their property to the Council. In February this year, the Council successfully completed the compulsory purchase of two properties in Sculthorpe that were left empty since they were built in the late 1990s.
In many cases, long term empty properties are associated with anti-social behaviour, including illicit drinking and drug-use and blight local communities. Properties left empty can fall into disrepair and become dilapidated and dangerous very quickly.
North Norfolk District Council will take action against owners who are not prepared to get on with the job of returning a property back into use and will use enforcement powers where necessary.
