I’m a panto star – get me out of here!

Panto rehearsals have swung into action at Sheringham Little Theatre after the cast arrived at the seaside theatre to prepare for a special season.

It is the 10th anniversary of the venue staging its own professional pantomime. And an action-packed Dick Whittington and His Cat features a Victorian ‘steam punk’ style adventure taking Dick from Norfolk to London, with plenty of fun, song, dance, special effects – and even an ‘escape room’, where the audience helps solve the clues.

I’m a panto star – get me out of here! Continued from front cover...

The show opens on Saturday 7 December and combines a seven-strong professional cast of actors with 32 local children playing cats, dogs and rats.

KITCHEN FRONTS of Norfolk

As the cast met to begin rehearsals and see their costumes for the first time, director Nick Earnshaw, who is also playing the dame, Sarah the Cook, said “It is always daunting to start – with all the dance routines, songs, ‘slop scenes’ and fights to learn. But it is great having a core of experienced actors who know the venue and audience, and are like ‘mini directors’ on stage to help the other cast.”

Rik Warren (Jonny the Dog) is the longest-serving, doing his sixth Sheringham panto, and Kyle Fraser (Dick Whittington) his fifth, but first in a title role.

They are joined by North Walsham’s Harry Williams (the Cat) and Lucy Connor (Fairy Bow Bells), who have both graduated from being chorus children to professional senior roles.

Newcomers are Danniella Schindler as Alice Fitzwarren, who has just graduated from drama school and Kit Henson (Queen Rat) who has sung in a steam punk band at Alton Towers.

Theatre director Debbie Thompson said “This is a special anniversary year for us, and it is great to have lots of popular regulars joined by youngsters like Harry and Lucy who have grown up at this theatre and come back as professionals.” Tickets are selling well, and two extra school shows have been added this year due to demand, she added.

Crèches For Bangladesh – An RNLI Appeal

Last month, Cromer Ladies Lifeboat Guild held a very enjoyable fundraising curry evening, in conjunction with the Labone Indian Cuisine, Sheringham.

The RNLI's mission to prevent drowning extends to communities at risk around the world. This year there has been an online appeal for a prevention project in Bangladesh, called Crèches for Bangladesh.

Stu Thompson and Mike Keane holding a bottle float made by Structureflex to the International Team’s pattern

Tragically, an average of 40 children drown every single day in low-lying flood-prone Bangladesh, often in water very close to their homes. Their parents are in an impossible situation as they have to work, but cannot afford child care. The project provides day care facilities for children so that they are kept safe and away from the dangers of water whilst receiving important early childhood education.

Phase One of the project targeted drowning prevention through a combination of water safety education, swimming lessons and the opening of 400 children’s crèches. The next phase includes setting up and running a further 300 crèches over the next 3 years, working towards the target of ending preventable deaths of children under 5 by 2030.

During the evening, we saw video footage of the RNLI’s work in Bangladesh and we were shown examples of a flotation device, appropriate for the local environment, that has been designed to be made easily by re-using plastic bottles and fabric.

The money raised on the evening was split between the RNLI Crèches for Bangladesh appeal and the restaurant’s charity, Abdu Salam Madrasha School, Bangladesh. Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone who attended, the RNLI appeal received £553.10.

WHY CHOOSE WHY CHOOSE SILVER & WARD WARD SILVER SOLICITORS in in 2019? 20 19 ? SOLICITORS

“It’s a recurrent misconception that a larger firm is better.”

I am Clare Mayell and I own Silver and Ward Solicitors in Sheringham. I am an extremely competent and experienced solicitor. I appreciate that any time of the year can be a difficult time fo or many people to resolve legal issues of worry and concern, for example, making a will or Lasting Power of Attorney. As I have worked for 2 larger local firms I know what clients want and expect. My charges are significantly less than other solicitors in North Norfolk or Norwich and I provide 22 years of expertise and exceptional service. I pride myself in being one of the only solicitors who offffers a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT, so clients can come in and obtain some initial advice and discuss costs and then make an informed decision. At a larger firm you just pay more. When a client rings or walks through the door they invariably get to speak to me as this personal and direct approach is important to my clients and I. I ensure complete confidentiality is an absolute priority. I advise new clients to “shop around” as I know that my charges are significantly less than other solicitors but I can offer the same expertise, if not better. I have and can act for clients across Norrffolk and the Country as we now have the use of Skype, emails etc. so it enables me to act for clients further afield. The reason that clients, near and far, instruct Silver and Ward is because of my expertise, exceptional service and competitive costs.

“I would say to any potential client with a legal issue or worry in 2019 to come and meet me face to face for a FREE FIRST APPOINTMENT, as you have nothing to lose but all to gain.

Home visits can be arranged or appointments outside of office hours including Saturdays. 0 1263 8 23465 or email clare@silverandward.co.uk 01263 823465

Home and Dry

The day was oh so very, very wet. Brollies, macs and wellies everywhere The daisies closed their petals tight, and yet, A toadstool stood up tall, without a core. For it was happy, singing to itself (I knew this by the way it softly glowed). Just waiting for a stray and soggy elf To fly beneath and claim a dry abode. Tricia Sturgeon

The Charity of Lilian Armitage

Certified

are you an older woman living in the area covered by sheringham town Council? are you living on a low income? Do you have health problems? are there things you need, such as household appliances or help with mobility? If you answered ‘yes’ to all these questions help may be at hand. The Charity of Lilian Armitage exists to help people like you.

KELLING PROBUS CLUB

The Charity interprets ‘older’ as being over (or near) state pension age. ‘Low income’ is being on benefits such as pension credit. It gives grants for all sorts of things. Recent grants have been for kitchen appliances, decorating a bathroom, a mobility scooter, a stair-lift and a short holiday.

Kelling Probus Club held its November meeting at The Dales Hotel in Upper Sheringham. After the usual gathering of members for drinks and fellowship, Chairman Andrew Hyatt welcomed 24 members and our guest after lunch speaker.

If you want to find out more, or make an application, please contact David Fullman at 115 Somerleyton Gardens Norwich NR2 2BP by phone at 01603 626024, or by email at ddavidfull@aol.com.

We were served a tasty lunch and after coffee our speaker Nick Owens spoke to us about ‘The Bees of Norfolk’. Nick began by telling us that there were over 200 species of bees and 180 species of wasps in Norfolk. Living in Weybourne, he was able to describe lots of the local bumble bees.

You will be asked to fill in a simple application form and you may be asked to supply two estimates or quotes with your application if that seems appropriate.

Nick, a retired school teacher and wild life expert, then showed the most amazing pictures of wasps and bees and ran through the life cycle of these insects.

He covered all sorts of examples of bumble bees and how they varied from species to species and how their nests and habits were so variable. The author of a book 'The Bees of Norfolk' published in 2017, he told us that his next project was 'The Bumblebees of Great Britain & Ireland' which should be published in the next 12 months.

Questions he was asked were numerous and very interesting as his knowledge was very helpful including why so few wasps this year, where did the expressions ‘bees knees’ and ‘a bee in the bonnet’ come from?

After a very good talk he was thanked by Secretary Ken Murray and members were able to look at and purchase his book.

We meet at The Dales on the third Thursday of every month for lunch and an interesting speaker. For more information view our website or contact John Whittington on 01263 820333

Spitting image?

by Miranda Marshall, Director, Hayes + Storr

There is a long held stereotype of judges being old-fashioned. Judge James Pickles became a household name in the 1960s when he asked ‘Who are The Beatles?’ The reality is that the Law Courts are open to scientific developments to help them achieve justice.

The Courts have always had to address the question of parentage. It was the stuff of tabloid newspapers in days past. Today, as DNA testing becomes more accessible, the Courts now have to consider how to balance the benefits of DNA testing against the rights of the individual.

Jordan Rogers, a care worker, inherited a large country estate, after proving through DNA testing that he was the son of an aristocrat. That ‘rags to riches’ tale came two years after the exhuming of the body of the Spanish artist Salvador Dali for paternity testing.

The two most frequent uses are to prove or, conversely, to disprove, that someone is biologically related to a person who has died; usually, but not always, because there is an inheritance at stake.

Arguments have been put to the Court, by someone refusing to submit to DNA testing, that it is interference with their human rights. In response the Judge held that the interference was a proportionate means of protecting the

public interest in the accurate resolution of inheritance disputes.

Another case revolved on whether DNA evidence extracted from the deceased for medical purposes could be released to determine parentage. There, not to do so would have led to injustice, and so, the Judge gave permission for the DNA testing.

Where there are sound medical reasons, such as the treatment or prevention of inherited disorders or diseases, for the testing of paternity, and a medical sample is readily available following death, the Court can also order testing.

It has also been held that there is no infringement of a third party’s human rights by DNA testing, even if they find out that they have an additional grandchild. The appellant’s rights must be weighed against the respondent’s rights. Here, there is a slant in favour of the respondent, so as to err on the side of preserving the status quo. The Court is able to order directions where there is reluctance to cooperate.

In cases where there is doubt as to parentage, the only way that an executor of an estate can be certain that they are distributing the estate of a deceased person accurately, is to ascertain all the beneficiaries.

The improved ability to determine parentage through genetic testing is impacting on the law. A paternity test is generally cheap and painless and can be done using a hair or saliva sample; no blood or needles required! It is much cheaper than the production of witness statements and other evidence. Its great advantage is that it is both definitive and can help parties reach a settlement at an early stage.

The box pews at St Mary’s Church, Worstead, can now be lowered to improve sight-lines. The vicar, Paul Cubitt, says the work should be finished by the end of May. Plans will also be drawn up for kitchen and toilet facilities.

We’d been to see some relatives, Who lived a fair way off. We left for home as darkness fell, While our family waved us off. Banks of fog formed as we left, Floating and swirling around. We didn’t know the road very well, But hoped we’d get home safe and sound. Ahead, we saw a car’s rear lights, There was nothing else we could do. We followed that car as close as we could We just stuck to those lights like glue! The lights turned left, then right, then stopped. A voice said “I’ve arrived!” A man’s face appeared at our window. We’d followed him into his drive! Frances Wraight

The Cromer and District Food Bank will have banners made. Project Manager, Tim Morton said “We rely on grants to enable us to meet operational costs, but it is also vital to raise our profile and these banners will help.”

Training for the trainers can now be paid for by the Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat. Three courses are required by the Royal Yacht Association. Once the volunteer passes these tests they can give training to up to 30 others.

North Walsham & Dilham Canal Trust will use its grant to refurbish the Ebridge lower lock gates. Chair of the Festival Trustees, Jane Bond said the grant is “in appreciation for the conservation they carry out and for allowing the public to use the canal.”

It’s a hearts and minds exercise for the seventh grant. A defibrillator for Worstead Parish Council.

Sheringham and District Philatelic Society

Sheringham and District Philatelic Society had members with puzzled faces on Monday 11 November.

It was the annual Quiz Evening. Teams of four faced 55 questions set by quizmaster Andrew McCandlish. While some questions demanded knowledge of stamp collecting, others relied on general knowledge, logic or good guesswork. The emphasis was on fun, and multiple choice answers offered seemingly unlikely answers (with tongue firmly stuck in cheek) with one being surprisingly correct.

While there is always a team that outscores the rest, the results were very close and there was plenty of humour, good natured banter and laughter. That suggests that everyone comes away as a winner.

Our Christmas buffet and competition is on 9 December starting at 7.30pm at West Runton Church Hall. Prospective members will be welcomed.

Christmas Giving – Older folk need your help!

Age Concern North Norfolk is urgently looking for volunteers who can offer 3-4 hours a month to help lovely (but lonely) older people.

Our Day Centre hub, offering social contact, food and more is based in Sheringham (35b Cremer Street) and we are a small local charity, raising all our own funds.

We also run two social groups for older people, one in Sheringham and one in Cromer, and provide drop in assistance at home.

Currently we need someone to do the minutes for us at the Trustees meetings in Sheringham– once a month on a Thursday afternoon. We also need more trustees with a wide ranging set of backgrounds to help move the charity forward. If you have HR experience or a love for older folk, together with some good ideas and time to commit to 4 hours a month (2 hours of these are at the Trustees meeting on a Thursday) we would love to hear from you. We have an informal interview process and you can find out more by contacting our Day Centre Hub on 01263 821188, or by emailing our manager on manager@ageconcernnn.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you Jennie Cummings-Knight (on behalf of Board of Trustees)

Mini face-lift surgery rises in popularity

12 December General Election Information Several new polling stations to be used by the Council

Cosmetic medicine and surgery goes through trends. Whilst non-surgical options such as injectables, fillers and lasers are very effective for early signs of facial ageing, they cannot tighten a lot of loose skin. A surgical face or neck-lift entails removing this excess skin. For natural looking results we can just tighten it a little and add some volume with fillers of fat transfer and use lasers to improve the skin. Such combination yields superior results and is much better than too much of fillers or surgery alone.

Many patients do not want to go under general anaesthesia. Being under general anaesthesia can be associated with risks. Operations under general anaesthesia also tend to have prolonged bruising and recovery involved. With our technique, the operation is performed under local anaesthesia with an awake patient.

what types of facelifts do you offer at the Coltishall Clinic?

Apart from a full range of non-surgical treatments we offer a variety of surgical options such as

• one stitch facelift - It is suitable for younger patients or for those who do not want a full face or neck lift but desire a subtle result at low cost. • laser face-lift - this is an excellent option when the main consideration is excess fat in chin and jowls. Laser can melt these and also heats the surrounding tissue. This stimulates collagen formation and assists in skin and tissue tightening. • Mini face and neck lift - It is also known by various other names such as weekend or mini-facelift, S-lift, MACS lift or a facial lipo-lift. The skin is lifted, underlying layer is tightened and finally the skin is repositioned and closed with fine sutures. • 3-D facelift – this is a no knife facelift for patients who do not have lot of saggy skin but have lost volume from their face. We take fat from where patients don’t want it such as abdomen or thighs and transfer it to face where it provides a volumetric 3-D face-lift.

Dr Sanjay Gheyi MBBS MS FRCS Medical Director at the Coltishall clinic has had advanced training in face and neck lifts in the USA and has adapted best practice and technological innovations. As the procedure is performed in the clinic purely under local anesthesia and not in a hospital, it offers the advantages of a natural look, quick recovery, minimal complication risk, minimal scars, no hair loss, less cost and less risk of infection.

The UK shall be voting in a General Election on Thursday, 12 December 2019 with Polling Stations being open between 7am and 10pm across our district.

North Norfolk District Council has had to implement several changes to Polling Stations due to usual buildings being unavailable at such short notice. We very much appreciate the work that has gone into making our Polling Stations available for this election including the movement or cancellation of pre-existing bookings which had been in place.

The Gallant Gardener

Hello my name is Chris and I am called the Gallant Gardener, ever since I have been able to hold a spade I have been gardening, growing my own, or creating gardens and opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy gardening as a hobby or indeed to go on to create their own gardening businesses.

I can hear my father now telling me to cut a spit and throw it up and make sure you turn it over boy! Our land was heavy, wet and clay and it took some effort. I have always had the opportunity to garden, whether it was at primary or secondary school. During our travels across Norfolk, we have always had a productive garden, able to collect fresh vegetables and grow plants.

going over to the glasshouses and seeing the lemons and other fruit being grown.

This brings me to the Victorians, who were masters at cultivating fruit and vegetables for the whole year. At this time of the year, I bring into my greenhouse or indeed conservatory several well established strawberry plants. I put them in 12” (30cm) pots in a multipurpose compost and nurture them through the winter. When they start to flower in early spring, I give them a regular feed of potassium or potash, this will increase the fruit yield. This will enable me to be eating strawberries a month earlier than those outside.

I was listening to somebody the other day who said that they disliked the term putting the garden to bed! In fact, I have always asked the question when does the gardening year start? The answer is it never does… it’s a continuous cycle.

In my later years I taught horticulture and environmental science, in various locations in North Norfolk and beyond. Gardening must have been in the family, as one of my uncles was head gardener at Melton Constable Hall back in the 1960s for Lord and Lady Hastings. I can remember

It is not too late to put a couple of rows of broad beans in the garden, I prefer my tried and tested variety of Aquadulce Claudia. This is a heavy yielder and will take alot of bad weather. Sown now, the seeds will germinate and sit just above ground level. If you are subject to lots of frosts put them in pots and keep them in a cold frame or cold greenhouse to weather the winter. You might lose one or two plants to mice or bad weather; however, you will be picking broad beans earlier than most.

Don’t forget your garlic as well you can continue to plant this in the soil providing it is not too wet, a couple of centimeters below the surface, they do need a good hard winter to produce the quality of bulbs...

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year … or is it?

there is an air of huge excitement as we gather together on this most special day of the Christmas season.

The goodwill, camaraderie, joy and sense of fun abound in such large quantities that it feels like you can reach out and grab a handful to share around.

It’s Christmas Bag Pack Day at the Foodbank! If you have been following us you already know that our Foodbank Donors are quietly committed throughout the year to helping others in North Norfolk who, for reasons often beyond their control, need some short-term support to feed their families. It goes without saying that we could not do the work that we do to provide emergency food without their generous donations.

But wow! At this time of year, year after year, our Foodbank Donors amaze us by surpassing all expectations with their generosity. Through them we can put together special Christmas bags containing lovely Christmas food treats

for our clients and which we all associate with our annual Christmas celebrations.

Why would they do this? Especially at a time of high expense for most people? Because these donors want to help our clients enjoy the Christmas that they would want for their families if they weren’t facing financial crises. And in our view, that is the essence of true Christmas spirit.

So, back to the Bag Pack. Picture the scene on a Saturday in early December, a large group of our fabulous volunteers gather at our Cromer warehouse. Excitement and chatter increases as the Christmas treats are set out on long tables ready for packing and people get ready, keen to start this most rewarding of jobs in the Foodbank calendar.

At the signal, packing begins. Each volunteer takes something from each group of Christmas treats so that every bag contains a selection of everything and nothing is missed out. Bags full to the brim with chocolate, sweets, Christmas cake and pudding, tinned meats, chutneys, nibbles and Christmas crackers begin to build

in the corner of the room ready for distribution to Foodbank clients during December.

As the pile of bags grows and the work nears completion so too does the excitement of the volunteers. How many Christmas Bags have we packed this year? At our 2018 Christmas Bag Pack we filled 250 bags full of lovely Christmas food which was amazing. This year, we’re hoping to exceed that total so that during December we can include even more bags of Christmas goodies with our clients’ short term, emergency food supplies through each of our 7 centres in Aylsham (2), Cromer, Holt, North Walsham, Sheringham and Stalham.

This is teamwork at its very best supported by true acts of kindness from all our Foodbank donors and volunteers.

Thank you and Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you.

VW VW

North Norfolk District Council has approved another £22,000 to community projects in Fakenham, Holt, North Walsham, and Stalham, in the final round of funding from the Council’s Market Town Initiative.

North Norfolk District Council established a fund of £400,000 to support initiatives that would help improve the vitality of the District’s in-land market towns. The first two rounds saw a range of initiatives being established by local organisations in all four towns and at a recent meeting of North Norfolk District Council’s Cabinet, Councillors agreed to approve funding recommendations for the remainder of the funds.

Soanes Signs sign up for Cromer RNLI

The service boards, which give details of the launches of both inshore and all weather lifeboats, have been updated onto new boards.

For many years the rescue launches of the inshore lifeboats had not been updated, whilst only the launches up to 2010 of the all weather lifeboats were on display in the main boathouse.

North Walsham and District Branch of Cats Protection

We are happy to advise all our supporters and friends that we raised ÂŁ1,512 at the Christmas Sale in St Benets Hall on 9th November. Many thanks to all those who came to support. A special thank you to our friends Andrea, Bev, Kim, Bren and Jenny who provided items to sell or raffle to raise money and also to everyone who came to help on the stalls.

The cats with Irene are now in residence in their pens and loving the extra space they now have. Phoebe, one of the cats, also appreciates the lovely activity centre donated to the branch when one of our supporters moved.

Although Bassanio still has a problem he is having a rest from treatment at present to allow him a break from frequent visits to the vets, as this can sometimes prove stressful. We will keep you informed of his progress next time.

The pad for the pens, which are being moved from Briston, has now been put down and the tiles laid. We are now waiting to hear when the gentleman, who will be transferring them to their new site, will be available to do this. Our new lady cannot wait to get the pens in place so that she can have her first cats in care. She will be ably assisted by her daughter who is very interested in animal welfare. We hope to have more news on this next time.

Over the past few years we have, on several occasions, taken kittens from an area where they have been allowed to breed without due thought for their welfare. Having taken in 3 litters this year, some of which had cat flu, and paid for over 20 cats to be neutered, people in the local community decided the situation had gone on too long and contacted the RSPCA. They have now taken over neutering the remaining cats and taken in some of the kittens, also with cat flu. Other kittens, found

in a different area of the village have been taken in by another local charity, and, again, most have had cat flu. Although there are still some to be caught here, the situation is now looking much better for the cats. Some of them, however, have migrated to Pearl, another one of our timid older kittens a neighbouring village but, here again, we have been paying for them to be neutered and returned to the site, where people are happy to continue to feed them and have shelter available. Three are due to go to the vets this week so we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to the ladies who have been involved in trapping them and getting them to the vets. We are always happy to help with feral colonies as it does help contain their size, plus interbreeding and health problems that can occur...

If you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten, please ring 07880 256948 (to see if you are eligible for a voucher). This number is for vouchers only and will not be able to help with any other enquiries. The number also applies for those wishing to take advantage of our special neutering campaign.

If you are looking for a cat or kitten (or have any other queries) please give Stephanie a call on 01692 535858. Alternatively, you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk/ for a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a call on the above number to find out where any particular cat is being fostered.

We are now on Facebook. You can find us under Cats Protection North Walsham

FLYING HIGH AT THE BRISTON ORGAN SHOW!

CROMER

Music lovers always flock to the series of Briston Organ Shows during the year, when top artists play the best live music on the latest digital instruments. However, for one meeting each year, the show takes on a different format, as the lovely people who help at the shows take to the stage and put on a super evening of home-grown music and laughter entertainment for a worthy cause - and the one they support is the amazing ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital.

Over the last few years the group and their lovely audiences have raised several thousand pounds for this great cause, and a few days after this coming Christmas they are about to do it all again!

The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital

Much of the live music is provided by local organ and keyboard entertainer Mick Leary, with humorous interludes during the show from the ladies who do the refreshments and raffle, the guy who organises the car parking, and anyone else daft enough to volunteer.

It all happens at the Copeman Centre, Hall Street, Briston NR24 2LG, from 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).

We have a warm, very comfortable venue, great acoustics, soft seats, wide level access which is ideal for disabled visitors, and loads of free car parking right outside the door. Sport England funding gives boost to Sheringham £1 million awarded to new leisure centre

North Norfolk District Council is pleased to announce it has officially received £1 million from Sport England toward the construction of a new, state of the art leisure centre in Sheringham. The funding was subject to requirements that ensure that the leisure centre would be an asset to the community and promote health and well-being to local residents and visitors.

Charles Johnston, Sport England's property director, said "We’re delighted that we’re able to provide National Lottery funding to help create this superb new leisure centre for the community in Sheringham. It will offer users a choice of sporting and wider activities, which is crucial in encouraging people to live more active and healthy lives.

“At Sport England we want everyone to have the chance to experience the benefits that come with being more active, ranging from mental and physical wellbeing to personal development. Creating excellent environments such as this centre, where people feel welcome and have a great experience, play an essential role in enabling them to become more active and healthier.”

On the ground floor, the centre will feature a dedicated ‘Changing Places’ facility, which offers more space than standard accessible changing spaces and equipment including a height adjustable changing bench and a hoist. A ‘pool pod’, a type of swimming pool lift, will be available for safe and dignified entry into the swimming pool, offering greater independence for people with a wide range of mobility difficulties.

It will also include a six-lane, 25-metre pool, a 13-metre learner pool with an adjustable depth floor, fitness suite, community rooms, multi-purpose studios, a spin studio and a café. The design has been progressed with the facility’s accessibility in mind and incorporates eleven dedicated accessible car parking spaces close to the building entrance, level access into the building through the main reception, automatic entry doors within the lobby area and accessible changing rooms. A moving floor on the smaller pool will allow the water depth to be changed for different activities and user groups such as swimming lessons, water confidence and toddler sessions and aqua fit exercise classes.

Other features of the centre include a colourful splash pad and learner pool for children to enjoy whilst they can improve their confidence in the water which was a key element of the design, and a range of portable, fun equipment such as inflatables will be offered during timetabled sessions.
