Sheringham Flower & Produce Show

Sheringham Horticultural Society held their annual summer show at The Lighthouse on Saturday 11th August. Despite exceptionally dry weather in the preceding few weeks members managed to enter a fine selection of flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables. The home produce (cakes and preserves) and handicrafts classes were also well represented.

show and clearing away afterwards, the society would like to thank all those who gave their time and effort to make this yet another successful show as well as all who entered, well done and thank you.

The standard of entries was high giving our judges plenty to deliberate over (how do you choose between eight plates of runner beans?) and numbers of both entrants and entries were up this year.

Dear Margaret,

On behalf of Sheringham Town Council and the community of Sheringham I would like to thank Sheringham Carnival Association for yet another fantastic Carnival, much enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. A relatively small band of volunteers, yet they manage to provide a fabulous week of entertainment. The Parade, which must involve a huge commitment in time and energy from everyone involved, requires a great deal of forethought and effort to put together. This year was bigger and better than ever and the standard of the floats and the involvement of the community showed how much the work of the Carnival Association is appreciated. It also has to be noted that the carnival has been supported by many local businesses, organisations and community groups and without the community support it would not be as successful. Our thanks to everyone! What is even more remarkable and of course very much appreciated, is that Carnival in Sheringham is only one of a host of events which the Carnival Association helps throughout the year. I believe that it is the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of those associated with the Carnival Association which makes our town so vibrant and such a great place to live, work and visit. Yours sincerely, Madeleine Ashcroft

Get Up and Go Yellow for EAAA

East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is asking the public to help them celebrate National Air Ambulance Week (10-16 September) by taking part in their ‘Get Up and Go Yellow’ fundraising day on Thursday 13 September.

The charity wanted to host a day that anyone could get involved with anywhere at any time, and came up with the idea to donate and go yellow. Everyone can take part, either alone or with friends, family, work colleagues, schools, groups or whoever you want to get involved. All you need to do is get up and wear, bake, make, create and go yellow in homage to the charity’s yellow helicopter. You could have a wear it yellow to work day (with your boss’s permission of course), bake some yellow cakes, hold a yellow raffle, guess the number of yellow sweets in the jar, decorate your desk yellow and so much more.

EAAA is a charity providing a life-saving helicopter emergency medical service for the people of East Anglia. Each of their crews consist of two pilots, one doctor and a critical care paramedic. The crew take advanced

critical care directly to patients who have suffered life-threatening or life-changing accidents or medical emergencies.

Head of Community Fundraising, Stuart Wyle, said “This is a new initiative for us, and we really wanted to host something that would celebrate National Air Ambulance Week, but also EAAA as a charity, and we thought what better way than to turn as many people as possible across the region yellow, the colours of our wonderful H145 helicopter. We can’t wait to see all the creative ways people think of to go yellow and raise funds. All the money donated from the day will go towards helping us save lives across the region. Without your support we can’t do what we do.”

How can you get involved? Simply go to the charity’s website www.eaaa.org.uk/yellow to find lots of helpful tips and advice on how you and your friends can go yellow, order a fundraising pack or poster, or even a totalizer

LOCAL MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION TO REPRESENT NORFOLK AT WW1 COMEMMORATIONS IN BELGIUM Eddie and Clare Mayell travel to Europe for The Royal British Legion’s Great Pilgrimage 90

Members of the Sheringham branch of The Royal British Legion joined thousands on a pilgrimage of Remembrance to World War One battlefield that culminates in a parade and ceremony in Ypres as part of the end of the First World War

The Royal British Legion event, known as Great Pilgrimage 90 (GP90), took place earlier this month and was be one of the largest in the charity’s history.

GP90 marks 90 years since the original Royal British Legion Pilgrimage in 1928, which saw 11,000 World War One veterans and war widows visit the battlefields of the Somme in France and Ypres in Belgium, a decade after the conflict ended.

That Pilgrimage culminated in a march through Ypres to the Commonwealth War Grave Commission’s Menin Gate Memorial for a ceremony to commemorate the launch of The Hundred Days Offensive and in remembrance of those who never returned.

Local Legion members, Eddie and Clare Mayell represented the Sheringham Branch

and the local community at the event, as Standard Bearer and wreath layer respectively.

Eddie and Clare toured some of the same battlefields and cemeteries visited by those on the 1928 Pilgrimage, before marching along the original route through Ypres, to the Menin Gate on 8 August, bearing their branch standard and a wreath.

They joined more than 2,200 other Legion representatives and dignitaries, including Civic and military guests from the UK, Commonwealth and Northern Europe. Once at the Menin Gate, Clare laid a wreath on behalf of the Sheringham community.

Eddie Mayell (Standard Bearer of the Sheringham Branch of The Royal British Legion, commented “Great Pilgrimage 90 is a unique opportunity for the Legion community to come together and bear our Standards along the same route in Ypres taken 90 years earlier by the veterans and widows of the First World War. The Sheringahm Branch proudly represented Norfolk at the event.

As local champions of Remembrance, the Sheringham Branch of The Royal British Legion worked in partnership with their community to bring their unique Remembrance message to the Menin Gate, on their wreath, where it will be displayed in a wreath installation for viewing by the general public until the end of August.

Eddie and Clare have also been on their own pilgrimage around their town of Sheringham and have managed to include as many community organisations as possible to show solidarity in remembrance and support for this great and historic event. As you can see the Message of Remembrance has been signed by members of the local community including MP Norman Lamb and Town Mayor Madeleine Ashcroft who signed on behalf of the people of Sheringham and all those who were not able to be reached & included on the wreath message. As you can see there was no room left to fit more names and all that were able to take part showed great interest and gratitude to have been able to do so. Photos were taken of the respective representatives of each organisation whether President, Chairperson or youngest representative. It was a truly inspiring effort and worthy of thanks to all that managed to gather at very short notice at the Sheringham Memorial for the final send-off photo. Eddie would like to apologise to all those who were unable to make it to the final photo due to the late notice but thanks for making us all so welcome when we came to talk with them all at their respective locations.

If you want to find out more about GP90 or your local Royal British Legion branch, then please visit www.sheringhamrbl.co.uk or contact Honorary Secretary Mel Clarke or Chairperson Val at info@sheringhamrbl.co.uk

Tenth anniversary Holt Festival hailed a great success Holt Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary with a week of some of the most varied shows since it began.

The sun shone throughout the week and there were more highlights than can be mentioned here. Two of the art exhibitions, John Hurt as Artist and Blithe Spirit, attracted attention from far and wide, really putting Holt onto the nation’s radar with appearances on national TV and radio as well as articles in The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Lady and others.

Household names from TV and radio were in town to interview guest speakers and there were wonderful performances in the Theatre in the Woods from Tom Baxter Band, Leo Sayer and the amazing Jasper Carrott with his all-star band.

Guest artistic director Stash Kirkbride said ‘The Holt Festival's 10th anniversary year received resounding praise. Not only from our audiences, but also from all who took part, both in the limelight of the stage and from those working behind the scenes.’

Stash Kirkbride, artistic director for the 2018 10th anniversary event said “I take great pride in this and offer gratitude to so many people. To have seen the programme come to life over the sun drenched summer days and nights in North Norfolk's jewel that is Holt, was something I will cherish for many years. We presented over 25 high profile events of national and international standing. With my brief tenure as Artistic Director, I have been able to turn over the creative soil, leaving it in perfect shape for Anwen Hurt to take it to the next level. Anwen is passionate about the arts, and her community, and being resident in Holt she will be able to have such a hands on approach to a festival she has admired and been a part of with her late husband John Hurt throughout its history”.

A Touch of Japanese

On a hot day in August Holt and District Probus Club paused after lunch at The Feathers to be given a taste of Japan. Not the Japan that any Japanese would recognise, but the imagined Japan through the eyes of those very Victorian gentlemen, Gilbert and Sullivan.

After a brief word about WS Gilbert and AS Sullivan and their Svengali, Richard D’Oyly Carte, Robin Johnson introduced members to Nanki Poo, Ko Ko, Pooh Bah, Katisha and other characters and explained that Japanese china and art works had been popular at exhibitions in London in the 19th Century and that The Mikado, arguably Gilbert and Sullivan’s most successful comic opera, had drawn much of its inspiration from these.

Although so far away from being politically correct that it might not be premiered today, nevertheless, after over one and a quartet centuries, The Mikado is still hugely popular. Robin gave examples of Gilbert’s astonishing wit and ability with words ‘A Short Sharp Shock’, ‘Let the Punishment Fit the Crime’ and of Sullivan’s musical genius in, for example, combining three separate songs with entirely different rhythms into one combined trio: ‘If I Allowed my Family Pride ...’, ‘My Brain it Teems ...’ and ‘I heard one day a Gentleman say ...’.

Robin gave a brief run through the plot, singing several of the songs. But he sang only those written for the male voice; although he gave them Tit Willow, he had to leave Three Little Maids alone.

Meetings of Holt and District Probus Club are normally held at lunchtime on the first Thursday each month at The Feathers in Holt. Enquiries about membership (or about a trial visit - visitors are most welcome) should be made to Secretary Alan Holmes on 01263 710782.

FLOWER FESTIVAL, THE CARNIVAL AND FAIRTRADE

It was lovely to be part of the popular and very beautiful Flower Festival at St Andrews, Sheringham again, and to display and sell some of Fairtrade's wide range of goods on our stall.

We hoped to repeat this experience at the Charity Carnival Day, on 29 July. We were ready with our tshirts and hand-made hats decorated with empty Fairtrade packets plus Belinda, the Fairtrade Banana and Seamus, the Fairtrade Scarecrow, who were ready with samples, and a quiz.

Everything was fine - even the weather!! But only for an hour. Then the wind blew and dark clouds loomed. We moved to the row of shelters, but the wind and rain won the battle, and we retreated home, to dry out our soggy stall! Never mind - there's always next year!

Many thanks to the cheerful Carnival helpers and to Sainsburys and Tesco, for supplying us with Fairtrade goods. Brenda Smith Fairtrade for Sheringham Group

Making a Will

- The importance of having an up-to-date will

The simple definition of a Will is a legal document that sets out your wishes regarding the distribution of your money, possessions and property (known as your ‘estate’) after death. Having a Will in place gives you peace of mind and legal assurance that your wishes will be carried out once you are gone so that you know your family will be taken care of.

Although it is often difficult to think about the inevitable, having a Will in place is arguably one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. Not only can a will legally protect your partner, children and assets, it can also spell out exactly how you would like things handled after you have passed on. It is reported that 1 in 3 people in the UK die without having a written Will in place to protect their family and assets. If you die without a Will your estate will be distributed in accordance with the Intestacy Rules. These rules are old fashioned and can lead to disappointment and injustice. Did you know? • If you die without a Will your husband,

wife or civil partner may not automatically inherit everything; they may have to share your estate with other relatives.

• If you are not married or in a civil partnership your partner is not automatically entitled to anything.

• If you separate from your spouse, they will stand to receive at least a proportion of your estate if you die before your divorce is fully finalised. • Marriage or entering a civil partnership will revoke your Will. Writing a Will does not need to be a lengthy process, after the first appointment, initial draft Wills are usually sent out within 10 working days. Once you are happy with the Will, a further appointment is made for the Will to be signed and witnessed. It is then usual for the legal provider to hold a copy of the Will until it is needed by the family. Today, blended families are more common than ever, with a growing number of step-families and blended families who are raising children from their previous and present marriages. Consequently, it’s important to regularly review your Will to ensure it’s still fit for purpose and reflects your current personal circumstances.

We encourage our clients to review their Wills every three to five years, both to ensure that their wishes are up to date but also to consider changes in the law or tax system which may have a personal impact. By way of recent example, in April 2017 the government brought in a new Inheritance Tax (IHT) allowance. This allowance is essentially available on death to anyone leaving a residential property to their children, and is excellent news for many individuals and families who will see huge tax savings as a result. However, the legislation is complex and Wills made prior to 2017 are often drafted in such a way as to prohibit or limit access to this new allowance. A simple thing such as an age contingency on a gift to children or grandchildren, i.e. for my grandchildren at the age of 18, could mean the loss of this allowance. If you are considering making a Will or would like a member of our team to have a look at your current Will[s] and advise you about any changes you should consider making. Please contact our Client Relations Team to book an appointment call North Walsham, 01692 660230 or Sheringham 01263 823398

BeachLife outreach returns to Sheringham in August

Preparations are underway for this year's BeachLife activity outreach on Sheringham's cliff top and beach next month. Bumper crowds are expected, and there is no charge to join in the fun.

BeachLife is a joint venture by the churches in Sheringham, aimed at engaging with local youngsters, as well as holidaymakers, and this will be its seventh summer. It will run from Tuesday August 28 to Friday 31. The event is open to all ages from toddlers up to 17.

Daily activities will start with the “Beach Special” at 10.30am every day except Friday, where all ages come together at the cliff-top marquee on The Leas for music, games, drama and fun, and to introduce the day’s theme, which this year is Mega-Makers. The children and young people then split into age-groups for their “Going Deeper” sessions to explore that day’s theme in more depth before breaking for lunch. On the Friday, the morning starts at 10.30am with the Going Deeper sessions.

around the town, and swimming at Splash.

“This has become one of the major events in the town's calendar” said Peter Skivington, one of the organisers. “Not only does this provide an opportunity for the churches to engage with local youngsters, but we provide a great week for visitors as well. We already have people asking when next year's BeachLife is so that they can plan their holidays to Sheringham”.

Those wishing to attend can download a form from www.sheringhambeachlife.co.uk and bring it with them to save time on the day. The website also gives more information about the event and contact details. Alternatively, although anyone can just come along and register on the morning, from 10.15am.

The afternoons and evenings will include beach games and sports, giant inflatables, a family picnic, junk modelling, the tide fight with chips, a ‘Sheropoly’ challenge

WEYBOURNE WI LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Marilyn Brocklehurst attended the August meeting of Weybourne WI, to speak about the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, which she described as being ‘the best children’s bookshop in the universe’.

Marilyn gave us a brief history of her life, which included her childhood in Malaysia, where she admitted she had not been a reader. Her love of books and reading developed as she grew older and eventually she became a children’s librarian.

She opened the Book Centre 35 years ago and now stocks over 60,000 books. Many authors have visited over the years and all have left their signature on the walls.

Publishers send her free copies of every new children’s book and Marilyn reads them all. She considers reviewing new books to be essential and has firm ideas on which make suitable reading for children. Marilyn showed us some examples of books she has removed from school libraries during her assessment of the stock. She also read excerpts from some of her favourite books, which held us all spellbound.

Doors Open at Diverse Community On Sunday 2 September the community at Thornage Hall is open to the general public.

From 11.30am to 4pm the annual Garden Fete is an opportunity for those who live and work at Thornage Hall to share their experience of this unique community in the heart of North Norfolk.

Edward Hare, Chair of Thornage Hall, is keen to share the work of the organisation with the wider community ‘I am delighted to be opening the doors here at Thornage, sharing our work & our values with the wider community. We believe that every individual has unique skills, we all have something to give and we all have something to learn. The Garden Fete is not only an opportunity to learn more about the community at Thornage

Hall, it is a day out for the whole family with a range of activities, stalls and produce to eat or take home : • Cooking Demonstration from Richard Bainbridge of Benedicts Restaurant, Norwich • Thornage Hall Stalls selling cakes & refreshments, bread, BBQ with Red Poll beef burgers, bio-dynamic vegetable stall, family beef packs, handmade arts and crafts including woodwork, weaving, willow, art) • Music from the Midnight Specials, Barbershop Quartet, Ukulele Society • Stall holders selling local produce, books, preserves, ceramics, ice creams • Norwich-based Stonemason stories and tales

Marilyn explained her theory on how to encourage children to become life long readers and stressed the importance of them owning books. Modelling good reading behaviour, with the help of teachers and parents, is also of great benefit.

Visitors are warmly welcomed at the Book Centre. For further information visit ncbc.co.uk

Also in attendance at the meeting was Kathryn Farmer, from Realstones of Sheringham, with a selection of handmade jewellery for members to purchase. for all the family together with a carving demonstration • Traditional fete games, face painting and children's trail • Norfolk Wild Encounters, Birds of Prey • Farm & garden walk, biodynamic land management • Raffle with prizes donated by local businesses All of the funds raised through the fete this year will go towards equipment for our new Activities Room, a much-needed resource for social activities at Thornage and due to be complete in early 2019. Thornage Hall is located 5 miles south east of Holt off the B1110. Entrance is just £2.50 for adults and free for children under the age of 16.

A Butterfly Hot-Spot

This summer has been hot and sunny and one of the benefits of high temperatures and lots of sunshine is to see butterflies.

This summer Beeston Common has been a magnet for many species and with its springfed marshes and damp grassland the flora has flourished amidst the widespread drought conditions.

The flower-rich meadows are yellow and mauve with swathes of Fleabane and Water Mint respectively, interspersed with pink Willowherb and magenta Knapweed.

Throughout July some 25 species of butterfly were present on the Common with the best count of the year being 21 species in a single day.

Among the species seen in July were Brimstone, Painted Lady, Common Blue, Small Copper and two butterflies that have and are hopefully in the process of recolonising Norfolk.

our own Norfolk Swallowtail, has been seen three years in row in Sheringham Park and has occurred for the last two years on the Common.

On Tuesday 24 July, Mark Clements was watching a Purple Hairstreak (a small butterfly) flying around some sallow trees, with camera at the ready for when it settled. As he watched, a large butterfly flew into view and quickly settled. It stayed no more than 15 seconds or so but Mark took his shot hardly believing his luck for the large butterfly was a Purple Emperor. It was a female and only the second Purple Emperor to have been seen on the Common, the first being my sighting, 31 July 2017. Two days later on 26July, Mark had a second encounter with a Purple Emperor on the Common. This was another female but a much fresher-looking individual which stayed for five and half hours, mainly in the same sallow tree.

Silver-washed Fritillary . Francis Farrow

The good condition of the butterfly does suggest that it may have been bred locally. Sheringham Park is a possibility and breeding may have occurred in low numbers but a site closer to or on the Common may well exist. Purple Emperors lay their eggs on sallow and grey willow but require large oaks in the vicinity as males ‘assemble’ on a ‘master’ tree. Purple Emperors also feed at sap runs and on ‘honeydew’ produced by aphids so the flower-rich meadows are not a requirement as with other butterflies. It is a possibility that the Purple Emperors arrived back in Norfolk from elsewhere – possibly from Suffolk colonies which have expanded after a successful reintroduction programme.

Brimstone . Francis Farrow

Common Blue . Francis Farrow

The Silver-washed Fritillary came back in 2010 after a 40 year absence. This is a large fast-flying orange and black butterfly and after a few years of single sightings this year has seen a number of both male and female butterflies around the south end of the Common. The butterfly is now well established in woodland along the Cromer – Holt ridge and is also making inroads into Broadland areas so there is a good chance it will also start breeding on the Common.

The second butterfly that looks like it may be coming back to Norfolk after a similar 40 year absence is the Purple Emperor. This magnificent butterfly, the second largest in UK after

I was lucky enough with other observers to catch up with this particular butterfly in the afternoon and after watching for a while it started to move around the sallow then did a few full circuits around the tree gaining height and finally headed west (maybe towards Sheringham Park where a male had been seen a week earlier, 18 July). The following day, I and another observer were chatting by the sallow when I noticed a large dark butterfly glide over the neighbouring oak. We moved to a better position just in time to see a Purple Emperor fly into the sallow. It perched for a few minutes and then flew off strongly towards the southwest. While reflecting on our good fortune the Purple Emperor (or another one) returned and in characteristic sweeping glides sailed over the oak and down to some bracken where it may have landed to bask in the sun.

WINDOW & DOOR REPAIRS

Purple Emperor

Not all butterflies have done well, however, as many of the second brood of Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock and Red Admiral failed at the caterpillar stage with the heavy rain in May. Hopefully enough have survived and will get through the coming winter to bring pleasure to us next spring.

requirements. They risk being abandoned or worse – destroyed inhumanely by shooting or drowning. Lurchers are frequently left behind when travellers move on.

Grace on arrival There has been a lot of publicity in recent years highlighting the plight of greyhounds and their treatment at the hands of the racing industry.

Norfolk Greyhound Rescue (NGR) is one charity dedicated to rescuing these dogs as well as other sighthounds such as whippets and lurchers. They rescue dogs from Ireland where animal cruelty legislation and attitudes are less favourable to these dogs than over here.

These dogs are usually those who don’t make the cut for racing as well as those who are injured or puppies that are surplus to

NGR differs from other charities in that dogs are not accepted directly from the racing industry but from Irish rescue charities and placed in foster homes to be assessed and socialised. They are then ready to be matched directly with their forever homes and do not have to spend prolonged periods in kennels. This reduces the number of dogs returned as unsuitable as they have already been matched for temperament rather than chosen just for looks.

Hayley Pattrick and her husband Richard have run the charity for 3 years and in that time have rescued and rehomed 400 dogs as far afield as Kent to the north of Scotland. All prospective homes are checked and adopters pay £150 for their dog to help pay for vets bills, vaccinations and transport.

It actually costs as much as £265 to transport each dog from Ireland and prepare them

1940s weekend harvest festival celebration at St Andrews Church

Once again St Andrews Methodist Church Cromer Road Sheringham is planning to combine its Harvest Festival Service on Sunday 16 September at 10.30am with the popular 40s weekend.

The service this year led by the Revd Ann Bossingham, is entitled ‘Mum’s the Word!’ and will include a contribution from a professional 40s singer Rachel Eyre. We hope to be joined by visitors to the town suitably attired if possible in clothing which reflects war-time Britain.

Following the service on the front lawn of the church, under a marquee Rachel will sing wartime favourites whilst our guests feast on such delights as spam sandwiches and recipes from war-time Britain. We hope to build on the success of last year, when we were joined by passers-by many of whom not only sang along to the music but also got up and danced!

The day forms part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the current church building. Revd Ann Bossingham and her husband Mike (both Methodist Ministers, were married at St Andrews)

Twinning visit to Sheringham by Muzillac group

This year, it was the turn of Sheringham-Muzillac Twinning Association once again to play host to a group from the French side of our twinning, a party from Sheringham group having travelled to France in 2017.

A group of guests and hosts preparing to board the 'Southern Comfort' at Horning for a leisurely broads cruise So it was that two mini-buses arrived in Sheringham on Tuesday 10 July with our guests from Muzillac, who stayed with their Sheringham hosts until the following weekend.

On the Wednesday, Mayor Madeleine Ashcroft welcomed guests, hosts and friends to a civic reception at the town’s community centre, where we were all treated to an amusing short sketch by children from Sheringham primary school, then enjoyed a short presentation about Sheringham council’s attractive new town web site, in whose initial conception the twinning association played a part. Henri le Cadre, Chair of the Muzillac side of our twinning, spoke to remind us how much the link means to our two communities.

Thursday dawned dry and clear and we set off by coach to Norwich for a guided tour of parts of the old city, taking in Tombland, the cathedral and the Wensum river path past the historic Cow Tower. Friday saw us boarding a boat in Horning for a relaxing Broads cruise, the plentiful bird life stimulating lots of interest, and the week drew to a successful conclusion on Saturday 14 July (Bastille Day!) with a well-attended farewell meal held in The Lighthouse in Sheringham. After a fine performance of popular music from 500 years ago (provided by local musician Robert Fitzgerald aka ‘King Henry’s Band’), we ended the evening with a 'singalong', including numbers in both English and French.

The French group left at 6am the next day, with all agreed that once again the twinning visit had gone better than we could possibly have hoped!

Upper Sheringham Bell Appeal – Project Coordinator goes Purple!

To raise money for the appeal to restore the derelict six bells in Upper Sheringham Church, the Project Coordinator, Sue Morton, decided to get herself sponsored to dye her hair purple!

“See the before and after photos – certainly a bit of a change! I hope to have raised in the region of £500 with this mad stunt” said Sue. ‘This follows on from the success of our Golf Tournament with auction and raffle which raised just over £2000. A big thank you to Sheringham Golf Club and everybody who contributed to this in any way.

We have so far raised £19,000 towards our target of £75,000 and are now starting to apply for grants.

Thanks to all those who have donated so far. If you wish to contribute no amount is too large or small – please send cheques payable to ‘Upper Sheringham PCC’ to Sue Morton, Project Coordinator, 4 Linden Grove, Sheringham, NR26 8PD or go to www.gofundme.com/upper-sheringham-bell-appeal. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information at suejmorton@gmail.com or 01263 826078. Purple dye and purple hair, for Upper Sheringham to repair, Ring of bells, so quiet and still, Part of us - so mend, we will, Lost in time, just left to rot, Eternal chimes that we forgot.

Help is needed to fix the mess, aim to restore them to their best. In the end, what’s needed here: Repair the peal that we hold dear.
