St Andrew’s Methodist Church, Cromer Road
Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
The Wednesday weekly ‘Do drop-in’ Community Café at St Andrew’s celebrated in style with a ‘right royal’ lunch prepared and cooked by it’s amazing chef, Andrea and served by just as amazing volunteers. The menu included Coronation Chicken and Jubilee Trifle. All the guests received a special Jubilee key ring produced by Rosa West along with a copy of the beautiful book ‘Our Faithful Queen’ produced by ‘HOPE Together’. There were ‘royal’ quizzes and the presentation of a specially written ‘ode’ by Deacon Brenda Hayes.
An afternoon tea party was held on the Sunday afternoon – due to the inclement weather this had to be held inside the large hall - but this did not dampen the spirits of many who came from the community around St Andrew’s. The tables groaned with food which was enthusiastically consumed, and a jolly ‘sing-song’ was led by St Andrew’s Minister, Rev Sharon Thraves, many of the songs having a meaningful message. There was of course, a Jubilee ‘ode’ from our ‘poet’ Deacon Brenda! The proceedings ended by singing ‘God save the Queen’. Continued on page 4...
