Experiencing Side Effects From Their Statin Medications? Discover a healthy business opportunity. Statins are the most widely prescribed pharmaceutical in the world. In the United States alone, over 33 million adults use statins. It is estimated that seven million of these patients will experience musculoskeletal pain as a result of taking statins.1 Statinzyme is an advanced supplemental formula that was developed by a practicing pharmacist to help prevent the harmful side effects of cholesterol-lowering medications, including these statins: • Altoprev® (lovastatin extended-release) • Advicor® (niacin extended-release/lovastatin) • Caduet® (amlodipine and atorvastatin) • Atorvastatin Calcium • Lescol® (fluvastatin) • Crestor® (rosuvastatin) • Lipitor® (atorvastatin) • Lescol XL® (fluvastatin extended-release) • Lovastatin • Livalo® (pitavastatin) • Pravachol® (pravastatin) • Mevacor® (lovastatin) • Simvastatin • Pravastatin • Vytorin® (ezetimibe/simvastatin) • Simcor® (niacin extended-release/simvastatin) • Zocor® (simvastatin) And these beta • Toprol xl • Metoprolol • Metoprolol xl • Atenolol

Statinzyme's enteric coating is what makes Statinzyme's formula very effective. Most supplements such as CoQ10 only have a 3% absorption rate when taken orally due to the harsh environment of the stomach. Statinzyme's enteric coating allows it to bypass the harsh environment of the stomach and increases the absorption rate to virtually 100%. This is according to data from the Linus Pauling institute. Statin supplementation with Statinzyme may also further reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Company Background Statinzyme is a supplemental formula that was developed by Dr. Paul Faerstein, the owner of Zuckerman Pharmacy in Brooklyn, New York. As a second-generation pharmacist, Dr. Faerstein is keenly aware of the drug nutrient depletion side effects caused by statins and routinely recommends dietary supplements to his customers to help reduce and prevent those side effects. Often he found himself recommending 9 or more products that ended up costing his patients hundreds of dollars. Recognizing an opportunity and frustrated by the lack of an affordable solution in the marketplace, Dr. Faerstein decided to create it himself, and Statinzyme was born. Product Overview Statinzyme was developed by a doctor of pharmacy to reduce and aid in the prevention of side effects resulting from the use of cholesterol lowering medications. Such side effects may include muscle pain, muscle cramping, joint pain, mental confusion, memory loss, depression, and liver damage. Numerous medical studies show that cholesterol-lowering medications may deplete your body of many essential vitamins and nutrients necessary to prevent side effects. The ingredients in Statinzyme are designed to replenish the vitamins and nutrients when taken in combination with your statin medication. A daily serving of 2 enteric-coated softgels will allow your medicine to work effectively while protecting your body from the side effects. There is evidence that the nine (9) ingredients in Statinzyme may also further reduce the risks of heart attacks and strokes. Statinzyme’s enteric coating is what makes Statinzyme’s formula very effective. Most supplements such as CoQ10 only have a 3% absorption rate when taken orally due to the harsh environment
of the stomach. Statinzyme’s enteric coating allows it to bypass the harsh environment of the stomach and increases the absorption rate to virtually 100%. This is according to data from the Linus Pauling Institute. Statinzyme is made in the USA in a National Science Foundation (NSF) certified and FDA audited facility that is compliant with the principles and guidelines of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Statinzyme’s ingredients are valued at over $100. Statinzyme retails for only $39.99.
Testimonials “ Statinzyme is a fantastic product that I recommend to all my patients taking statin drugs, and I also take it personally! The feedback has been very positive from everyone who has tried it. Please take a moment to check out the list of ingredients included in just 2 capsules, and you too will see the incredible value of Statinzyme!”
— Henry McGill, RPh, Chancy Drugs
“ Cardiac disease is one of the major causes of death and disability in the United States and around the world. It dramatically decreases the quality of life in patients, even on an appropriate medication schedule that includes statins and beta blockers. These medications can be accompanied by undesirable side effects. The nutritional formula called Statinzyme has been developed to reduce the risks of heart attacks and strokes in patients taking cardiac medications. Its’ ingredients have been clinically proven to reduce muscle pain, muscle cramping, joint pain, mental confusion, memory loss, and liver damage, associated with statin and beta blocker medications. Statinzyme can become an important component of a treatment plan increasing patient’s compliance and quality of life, while providing multi-organ nutrient support.”

Pharmacists are immunizing more patients. Increasingly, pharmacies are also holding high value biological products for patients who “brown bag” their drugs to the doctor’s office. Monitoring refrigerator temperatures is critical to insure drug product efficacy and to lower the pharmacy’s risk of product loss.

Company Background Built by an Independent Pharmacist and created by the finest team of Social Media marketing and technology experts in the industry, Rx Social Media began development of Social Media Services to Retail Pharmacies in 2011. Following extensive beta-testing, it commenced marketing its services to retail independents in May 2012. The company currently provides its services including creating and managing Facebook pages. Multiple daily postings to each page consist of a careful blend of social conversation, current healthcare information, contests, and special promotions. Product Overview Don’t let the digital world pass you by! Direct communication, i.e. digital marketing is the only consistent vehicle to communicate interactively with consumers. e-mail and telephone are no longer viable. Interactive voice response systems are the norm. Facebook and Twitter build closer relationships between patient and pharmacy. At a nominal cost the return on investment is very high. Rx Social Media monetizes itself via national company advertising and not on the backs of pharmacy. Best of all it shares such revenue with its subscriber pharmacies. The Company solicits up to 200 different products (exclusively advertised), each one appearing on all Facebook pages (currently 500+) once per week for 52 weeks. The vendor can change the product, but it cannot be in competition with one another, i.e. Bayer and Aleve cannot run the same day. Thus, the consumer sees different specials each day and revenue from this advertising is shared with each subscribers pharmacy.
Features & Benefits n Features of Pharmacy Participation • Rx Social Media sets up your Facebook page or obtains administrative rights to your existing page.
• Multiple daily posts include a blend of social conversation, current healthcare information (including drug recall information), promotions, and 3rd party advertising.
• Your store location is featured on the My Local Pharmacy’s Store Locator.

n Benefits to Individual Pharmacies • Revenue sharing from 3rd party advertising (available with premium service package).
• Consumer/Patient Fan Growth and that of viewer audience. • Interactive online communication between pharmacy and patients.
• Growth in new patients. • Extremely low cost of participation. • Build an online community and increase store exposure.
Testimonial “ It has dramatically increased the number of people that are bringing me prescriptions, just from word of mouth. I thought it was going to be some work (using Facebook) and I realized (with Rx Social Media) it is no work! I don’t have time or creativity to do the postings, I would rather pay somebody who knows what they are doing. My “Likes” went from 100 to 1000!”

The L60 has the capability of filling a day supply into the card in any order. With regulations changing doing a 14-day fill for just name brand is effortless! The L60 operates handsfree which allows your pharmacy staff to continue their work while DOSIS produces prescription labeled blister cards. DOSIS is the most cost effective fully automated prescription packaging of blister cards in the market. Blister cards, which typically hold a single medication 30-day supply, are preferred for use in Long Term Care facilities due to their ease of handling, inspecting, and administering to patients. Compliance starts with medication time pass labels, which provide ease of medication administration. It is also one of the cheapest ways for pharmacies to deliver medication in dose form.
DOSIS has the capacity to run continuously for up to eight hours unattended before restocking empty blisters. To minimize impact to pharmacy floor plans, the unit is a similar in size and shape to a vending machine or shallow refrigerator (26" L x 42" W x 78" H). An L60 can hold 60 unique medication canisters at a time, which allows for adding extra canisters in rotation based on your medication formulary needs. Each DOSIS canister, has a capacity of 1000cc. DOSIS is typically installed and operational in a single day, and makes an impact to the pharmacy’s card production in the first week. n Flexibility DOSIS improves your pharmacy’s flexibility to meet the needs of your customers. You can set dispensing parameters based on payer type, facility, or prescription. Being able to use the same automation for a variety of customers, you can now grow your business without the fear of outgrowing your automation. • No dedicated staffing need for DOSIS, it is simple to operate. • Typically only 45 minutes to one hour of touch time per 8 hour shift to keep DOSIS producing. • Keep up with an increase in your prescription volume demand. • Eliminate overtime for filling cards. • DOSIS works while you are not with its ability to work after normal business hours. • Stop pre-packing cards, DOSIS does on-demand! • Allows for a remote on-call pharmacist to fulfill a prescription remotely, such that a prescription is ready upon their arrival. • DOSIS is being utilized in pharmacies serving 300 beds and up. • DOSIS offers scalability at an affordable price-point. n Additional Products • DOSIS cTRAQ removes the guesswork from sorting all prescriptions: Get the right script to the right facility every time. cTRAQ monitors completed work versus work-in-process, highlighting work to be completed. • DOSIS mPAQ Printing takes over label printing allowing optimal workflow: Reducing waste and time spent chasing labels. Case Study
Over 8 days in September 2013, Carmichael’s Pharmacy (Crowley, LA) recorded how many times the Kirby Lester KL1Plus flagged a “near miss” or potential mistake: • Wrong Medication - Four Instances • Wrong Strength - One Instance • Wrong Quantity - One Instance Total “near misses” - 6 instances over 8 days.
Company Background
Kirby Lester is by far the world’s leading pharmacy automation provider. Kirby Lester maintains the largest market share of automatic tablet/capsule counter sales in 40+ countries. Over 40,000 customers worldwide rely on Kirby Lester for their counting needs. Kirby Lester’s full line of technology provides solutions for all pharmacies that need fast, accurate and error-free medication dispensing.
Product Overview
For every pharmacy still relying on only a visual verification before dispensing medications, the KL1Plus is your affordable error prevention device. The KL1Plus combines Kirby Lester’s best-selling KL1 tablet counter with streamlined scan-verification software. It’s small enough to fit into your hand, but it delivers so much value, peace of mind and time savings. The technician simply barcode-scans the patient’s Rx label, then scans the corresponding stock bottle or package to ensure there is a match (tablets, capsules and unit-of-use items), and counts the right quantity. Eliminating dispensing errors really is that simple with the KL1Plus.
Unique Features
• More than just a tablet counter, but less than expensive workflow software or robotics. • For pharmacies that are not currently using scan-verification before dispensing, or want to replace their pharmacy management system’s cumbersome verification process. • Orders are verified and counted in less time than traditional hand-counting. • Can interface with your pharmacy system for real-time data exchange. • Fits any crowded workspace — about the same footprint as a counting tray. • Filled orders can be retrieved quickly to answer any customer concern. • Can operate as a simple tablet counter for physical inventory. • Unique vial size indicator.
According to pharmacy manager Dean Bergeaux, “The KL1Plus didn’t negatively affect our workflow; filling on the KL1Plus is about as fast as our old visual process. But the peace of mind was instant and dramatic.”
Prevent ‘Near-Misses’ and Errors 3.6 Errors/Week Avoided
In a national study of pharmacies using a Kirby Lester counting-and-verification device like the KL1Plus, the device flagged an average of 3.6 potential errors per week. Errors were either: wrong medication, wrong strength or wrong final quantity. After the Kirby Lester device alerted the technician to the mistake, the technician adjusted the patient order before passing it to the pharmacist for final check.
Full Line of Automation
Kirby Lester offers more than just a one-size-fitsall box. We provide you with a full line of pharmacy automation to safely and quickly dispense 100% of medications. • Affordable robotic dispensing: Compact KL60 (top 60 medications) or midsized KL100 (top 100 medications) • Stop counting by five’s on a tray: KL1 • Count and verify every order to eliminate errors: KL1Plus and KL20 • Automate and verify every order, cassette double-counts, ideal for narcotics and 90-day fills: KL30

poured into a patient vial in 10 seconds. Optic sensors handle 15-18 tablets/second.

Preceptor Recognitions
Thank You Preceptors!
The following colleges and organizations would like to acknowledge & thank the following preceptors for their hard work and dedication.
The Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy would like to take this opportunity to recognize the growing number of independent pharmacists who have become preceptors for our students. Independent pharmacies provide unique experiences to students that the larger chain pharmacies cannot Dr. George MacKinnon match. They have the flexibility to adapt to the needs of the patients in their particular neighborhood, and to offer the products and services most useful to the area in which they operate. Independent pharmacists can focus on a particular area of interest, such as compounding, pet medications or the treatment of migraine headaches. Often, an independent pharmacist has the ability to put more focus on counseling and MTM. For all of these reasons, Roosevelt University has worked to cultivate relationships with independent pharmacists, and we encourage our students to actively seek out rotations at neighborhood pharmacies. Often, they report that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned so much more than they thought possible. Therefore, thank you to our independent pharmacist partners for giving our students a glimpse of their world and showing them another aspect of retail pharmacy. If you are a pharmacist interested in becoming a RUCOP preceptor for introductory and advanced experiential education, please contact: Joan Hardman, BPharm, RPh | Director of Experiential Education (847)330-4508 | jhardman02@roosevelt.edu www.roosevelt.edu/pharmacy

Nancy Ganley knows first hand what a great mentor and preceptor can do for a student. When Nancy started working in an independent pharmacy in Somerville, she worked with the pharmacist owner who was her inspiration and taught her about life and how to treat people with genuine care. She credits her preceptor with her decision to become a pharmacist. She has come full circle and has come back to her roots in Somerville as the Pharmacy Manager at Rite Aid. After many years of practicing as a community Nancy Ganley pharmacist, she still holds herself to the highest of standards when it comes to helping her patients and her students. Her goal of placing patient care as her top priority is something that she hopes to instill in her students. She tells students that they can make a difference. She stresses the importance of treating her patients like a family member and noting that sometimes the pharmacist is the only person that some patients come in contact with. She teaches and wants her students to extend themselves to help the patients they serve. She has been a preceptor for MCPHS University students for 15 years and offers both her patients and her students the highest standard of care. She uses every opportunity to give her personal touch to all that she comes in contact with and wants the students to have the same desire to provide genuine care. The entire MCPHS community appreciates all you have done over the past 15 years for our students and all that you will continue to do.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy we salute all of our preceptors for their significant contributions in preparing the next generation of pharmacists. Company Background
At PCCA, we help pharmacists and prescribers create personalized medicine that makes a difference in patients’ lives. Our members solve some of their customers’ toughest medical challenges – all while running their own businesses. That’s why we provide more products, more education and more support than any other organization. We’re always working to help our members grow, and we’ve grown, too. What began in 1981 as a small network of pharmacists is almost 4,000 members strong, with 360 employees worldwide and five distribution centers serving the United States, Canada and Australia. At PCCA, we’ve made it our business to support compounding pharmacists every step of the way – and then some. It’s all about bringing a level of service that makes you say, “WOW.”
Product Overview
While our members have access to over 4,560 active and non-active chemicals – more than any other compounding pharmacy supplier – the competitive advantage we bring our members is the industry’s most comprehensive quality control and assurance program we bring to those chemicals every day. Find out more at: www.pccarx.com/quality Here is the Quality Difference that PCCA Brings to Member Pharmacies Every Day:
n Every Lot – Not Just the Initial Lot – Is Tested • We do not solely rely upon the USP or manufacturer’s label to ensure the quality of the chemicals received. • Every lot received is tested using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible analysis, melting point, specific gravity, solubility, and chemical identifications. • Additional testing of APIs is done using actual formulations.
n 14 Checks and Analyses are Performed on Each Chemical Lot • Nine qualitative and quantitative analyses are performed on every incoming chemical lot before it is released for repacking or sale. • Each lot is tested against the certificate of analysis (C of A), including: USP, EP, NF, FCC, ACS and PCCA standards. • After initial testing, all results are reviewed for accuracy by a second QC analyst. • Chemicals are tested only by degreed Chemical Analysts. n PCCA Rejects Almost 200 Chemical Lots Per Year • PCCA is fully registered by the FDA, DEA and State of Texas as a manufacturer and follows current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). • Only FDA-registered and GMP-certified manufacturers are used for the purchase of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). • Exclusive, proven bases and formulas. n Proven Bases for More Patient Options With access to more than 60 proprietary bases – unavailable to other compounders – your PCCA pharmacy will have more options to treat your patients, from VersaBase® topicals, specifically designed for BHRT delivery, to Lipoderm®, the industry’s only transdermal proven to deliver four drugs simultaneously. n Comprehensive Education is the Key to Compounding Continuing education is the key to quality compounding solutions. Your PCCA pharmacy has access to more Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited continuing education than anyone else. In 2014, PCCA will conduct more than 115 ACPEaccredited sessions across the United States, Canada and Australia, as well as scores of other training sessions from clinical and technicianrelated topics to sales and marketing. n Complete Support Member pharmacies have access to the industry’s best support with more than 30 pharmacists and pharmaceutical chemists on-hand to answer the toughest compounding and clinical questions. PCCA has more pharmacy consultants on staff than any other competitor, answering more than 500 calls a day from members with an average response time of less than 30 minutes.

Company Background
Liberty Software is an independent software company serving retail pharmacies across America. We have been successful at developing technology that helps community pharmacies compete in today’s marketplace. At Liberty Software we work hard to make sure our clients are satisfied and happy. To do this, we have brought together a team of individuals who are experienced with pharmacy and technology, and just as important, are friendly and helpful.
Product Overview
Here at Liberty, we believe that RXQ is a next-generation pharmacy management system. Why do we say that? It’s not just the technology, although RXQ is built on Microsoft’s newest technology platform. It’s not just the feature list, although it is comprehensive. More than anything, we believe that it is the user experience. Prescriptions can be filled quickly and accurately. Many pharmacists have told us it is the easiest system they have ever used. Pharmacies processing a large number of prescriptions daily, face numerous challenges. Many pharmacies are still using antiquated systems that do not have the ability or features to handle their prescription volume. RXQ is stable and scalable as you grow. We have the features to ensure that you are productive and profitable. If there is a problem, we have a support team that understands the needs of high-volume stores. How long does it take to teach new employees how to operate your existing pharmacy software? Pharmacies using RXQ have found that new employees can often begin filling scripts immediately, with little to no training. It’s just that simple. A well-designed pharmacy system should make your employees more productive and happier. When you do need help, it’s only a phone call or mouse click away.

Key Considerations for Independent Pharmacy Owners Include:
• Seamlessly integrating retail and pharmacy management systems to optimize efficiency, accuracy and profitability. • Managing the large and diverse retail inventory for less waste and more profits. • Implementing a unique loyalty program to differentiate your business. Epicor Point-of-sale Solutions offer high-speed credit card processing and electronic signature capture to reduce lines and provide fast, efficient and secure checkout. At a time when owners and managers are always on the move, Epicor Mobile Manager keeps you connected with instant access to critical business information, vital alerts, reports, and more, right on a smartphone or tablet. Epicor provides a true real-time solution that enables you to fully comply with HIPAA and other government requirements. It also ties into the SIGIS approved database and is fully IIAS compliant. This allows your staff to accept Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Healthcare Savings Account (HSA) debit cards along with major credit and debit cards, all while improving customer service and increasing sales. In addition, if your state is part of the
NPLEx database, you can automatically check if customers are exceeding the federal purchase limits for pseudoephedrine at POS. The Epicor Eagle Loyalty Program is the key to identifying and rewarding your best customers, while collecting valuable data to fuel a wide range of marketing activities. With this program, you can give loyalty points, designate items to give extra points, print loyalty coupons on the receipt at certain levels, and provide rewards if customers purchase a set number or amount of certain products. Now you can have the same functionality as the large chain loyalty programs. Epicor Inventory Solutions offer the tools to manage thousands of varied SKUs, including expiration dates, pricing, and more. Powerful wireless features make it easy to perform physical inventories and update system pricing right from the store floor. Your inventory database is updated automatically in real time, so sales staff and managers can always have up-tothe-second information. RxSafe 1800™ Robotic Pharmacy Workflow Automation by RxSafe With complete security and confidence, pharmacies can increase profitability, improve productivity, eliminate waste, theft and diversion, and free up floor space with the RxSafe 1800—more automated, secure and intelligent—no other system compares. Company Background
RxSafe began operations in 2008. Many of the principal employees have been innovating together since the early 90’s at such companies as Pyxis, Omnicell and DDN where they have extensively contributed to the advancement of automation in the pharmacy industry. RxSafe’s founder and CEO, William Holmes has authored 49 U.S. patents. Technology sets RxSafe apart. One of our most recent developments is the DRI™, the first-of-its-kind, message initiation “data rich interchange” for the retail pharmacy market. This protocol is essential for real workflow, providing pharmacy management with a complete suite of reports at their fingertips. The DRI™ is an integral part of every RxSafe product, making it a unique offering in pharmacy management software.
Product Overview
The RxSafe 1800 is the leader in automated, high-density robotic storage and retrieval of stock bottles. It represents an evolutionary leap in pharmacy automation technology because it goes beyond drawerbased systems. Unlike vial filling robots that hold a small percentage of your formulary, a 3-tower RxSafe system can hold virtually all of your oral solid stock bottles. The restocking process is fully automated. RxSafe’s proprietary software interfaces with your PMS to track your inventory in real time, so you know what and when to reorder — no disappearing inventory, no opening a second bottle or waste due to expiration. All this means improved patient safety and more money to your bottom line. When you’re busy, the RxSafe 1800 system really shines. Users report that a single operator can routinely fill at an effective rate of over 100 scripts per hour. If your space is tight, or there’s better use for the space, RxSafe is the solution. In a 3-tower system up to 5,400 stock bottle containers fit in 40 square feet of space. Join the other independents, chains, hospitals, clinics, military, and institutional pharmacies that have selected RxSafe in the quest for a better pharmacy.
Additional Features
n 1 + 1 + 1 = Accuracy + Efficiency + Security One technician. One pharmacist. One open bottle at a time. With only one technician and one pharmacist, virtually every pharmacy, every day can fill all prescriptions without extra filling staff. You’ll need less people to do the same work when the RxSafe 1800 is by your side. And, with one open bottle at a time, there’s less chance for error, no wasted inventory, no narcotics theft. In fact, the RxSafe 1800 is so secure it’s been approved by the U.S. Department of Defense for C2 narcotics storage because it’s a safe that can limit access to any drug by worker classification.
n Closed Inventory System & Forced Workflow The RxSafe 1800 is a closed inventory system that guarantees unprecedented inventory accuracy, theft prevention and security for all drugs. No more audits are required. With the RxSafe 1800, inventory is 100% accurate because it stores stock bottles behind locked doors and forces workflow at one station without the added expense of other software or hardware. Our proprietary software verifies you have access to the right bottle. When the bottle is returned to the system it’s weighed to insure accurate counts. User mistakes are tracked and slow moving inventory is flagged. No more overstocking or wasted inventory.
n Remote Stock Management Remote Stock Management is another standard feature of the RxSafe 1800. All pharmacy inventory is managed by the system whether it’s inside or outside the RxSafe. No more headaches keeping track of difficult inventory.
