Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton – the 5* lifestyle hotel in central London - unveils the first stage of the hotel’s luxury refurbishment with the opening of the new Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar and the fully redesigned lobby

The all-new Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar and lobby transformation are part of the hotel’s £6m renovation plan which sees the hotel elevating their premium offering with a full refurbishment of the ground and lower ground floors. A carefully curated wine list promises to satisfy the

curious and the connoisseur alike. The redesigned lobby flows seamlessly into the elegant Rockwell where a fresh new interior has been designed by Design LSM, the award-winning studio behind 100 Queen’s Gate, Curio Collection by Hilton. The contemporary, warm colour palette and plush furnishings give both spaces a soft glow, creating a sanctuary away from the bustle of the capital.

The new Spring Gardens Suites will offer guests a standard of premium experience, with their contemporary design and exclusive amenities. The warm and chic interior contrasts a palette of bold colours against natural tones of dark oak and rattan.

“We are excited to invite guests to join us at Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar giving them a first glimpse into our luxury renovation project. The launch of the suites will set Trafalgar St. James apart as a top 5-star destination for both our hotel guests and visitors to the new Rockwell and The Rooftop.”

Whether it be one night or a weeks stay, your customers will be looking for a place to feel welcomed and relaxed, and music can play an essential role in setting the atmosphere for your guests as well as act as a tool to enhance your brand.

Incorporating background music and live entertainment for your guests offers them more than just a place to stay; it provides them an immersive and memorable experience. By having background music play throughout the hotel, such as the lobby, can create an instant warm and welcoming vibe for your guests. Having music in other areas such as the bar, dining area or gym can enhance your brand and compliment your hotels aesthetic and theme as it can serve as a backdrop and encourage your guests to relax during their stay.

As well as background music, you could also incorporate live entertainment for your guests throughout the day, or in the evening to add another interactive and exciting element to your hotels offerings.

Live entertainment could range from a live singer, band, dance show or even stand-up comedy, all which has the opportunity to provide your guests with unique and memorable experiences. If your hotel is situated in a cultural area, why not consider incorporating cultural music and dances to give your guests an authentic experience of the place they’re staying.

By providing your guests with entertainment throughout their stay- from the moment they step into the lobby to late night shows you can use music in your hotel to differentiate yourselves from others and utilise music and entertainment as a unique selling point which in turn, can attract more guests and bring in some positive reviews that’ll adopt customer loyalty, but also attract new guests looking to stay in your hotel.

Ultimately, by investing in quality background music and live entertainment, your hotel can enhance its brand image, increase guest satisfaction and use music to potentially increase revenue.

If you are already playing background music and providing live entertainment or you’re looking to introduce it into your hotel, you’ll usually need TheMusicLicence. We ensure those who are involved in creating the music we all enjoy are fairly paid for their hard work and talent.

Santa Maria Pizza opens its 6th location in Paddington

Opening on the 24th February, marking 15 years of success in London

Santa Maria, one of London’s most beloved pizzerias is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the opening of its sixth location in Paddington on Monday, 24th February 2025. This milestone marks another exciting chapter for founders Angelo Ambrosio and Pasquale Chionchio, who first met in Napoli in the 1990s. Since launching their first pizzeria in Ealing in 2010, the duo has been at the forefront of London’s pizza scene, and their brand continues to grow with this latest expansion.

Santa Maria has long been renowned for its commitment to traditional Neapolitan pizza, and the new Paddington site stays true to that dedication to quality and authenticity. Located within the historic Frontline Club, a renowned hub for journalists and global affairs, the restaurant seamlessly blends rich storytelling with Santa Maria’s signature Neapolitan hospitality, further cementing its place at the heart of London’s food scene.

The journey began with a small 25-seat pizzeria in Ealing, which quickly became

an institution after being named London’s Best Pizza by Time Out just two months after opening. Since then, Santa Maria has expanded to Fulham, Fitzrovia, Islington, and most recently, Kew Gardens. With Paddington, the Santa Maria family continues to grow, bringing its world-class pizza to an even wider audience.

Akoya,

Fabbian’s

pearl of light, designed by Filippo Protasoni in 2021, embodies the essence of design

“I love the simplicity in the design as much as the emotional character of the artifacts” states Filippo Protasoni, Akoya’s designer for Fabbian, about himself

Born in 1980, he studied in Italy and Norway, where he deepened his knowledge of product and interior design developing a distinctive methodology that he applies to different design projects. After working with several international studios and professionals, such as Emmanuel Babled and Markus Benesch Creates, in 2009 he founded his own studio in Milan. Filippo Protasoni designs lighting fixtures, furniture, industrial and textile products, commercial spaces, interiors and exhibitions. His most recent works are in the field of visual design for well-known luxury brands.

Communicating light through an emotional perspective but always with a rational attitude, this was the concept from which the Akoya collection was born (wall and indoor pendant lamp): the allusion to the world of nature is in the form of a shell with the precious content of a pearl, an image translated with graphic synthesis and no space for superfluous decoration.

Akoya is generated by a geometric evolution of the circumference, which first becomes

a two-dimensional surface – the circle – and then a three-dimensional volume – the sphere.

The interaction of these two geometries gives rise to the image of a shell holding within it a precious pearl of light. Just as pearls are symbols of perfection that are known for their remarkable lustre, the Akoya collection of lamps also showcases the same natural simplicity, and the ability to dialogue with the architectural setting that contains them.

The Akoya collection includes wall lamps and indoor pendants. They are made from two metal discs (available in white, anthracite and Corten finishes) containing a blown glass diffuser.

The light source is a high-efficiency LED with integrated power supply and dimmable, with phase cut power supply.

“Not only do F&B businesses need to get on top of these from an environmental perspective, but both areas offer the potential for real cost savings, which we know is top of mind for restaurants right now. My goal is for both panels to provide helpful insights and actionable advice for operators,” comments Caillouette-Noble.

Wine afficionados can look forward to ‘The Power of Wine in Hospitality: Insights from Top Female Sommeliers’, which will bring together leading female sommeliers including Clara Rubin, Head of Wine at Hawksmoor), Queena Wong, Founder of Curious Vines, and Rudina Arapi, Director of Wine at London Hilton on Park Lane, with Institute of Hospitality CEO Robert Richardson moderating the discussion.

Practical sessions such as ‘Back for Good: Creating Unquestionable Loyalty to Your Brand’ and ‘We Are Family: Building High Performing Teams in a Shifting Landscape’ will offer operators actionable insights and top tips to elevate their offering.

Katy Moses, Founder & Managing Director of KAM, who is moderating both panels, notes, “I’m delighted to be speaking at HRC again this year. The team at KAM have curated a number of insightful sessions on the show’s Vision Stage covering everything

from building high-performance teams to driving strong brand loyalty with your customers, and we can’t wait to connect with the hospitality community at this year’s event.”

“Serving good food on a plate in a nice environment is fine of course but as an industry we must be more dynamic, creative and exciting. Experiential dining and authenticity are for me the areas in hospitality that offer the greatest opportunities for growth, and I look forward to discussing these in depth at this year’s HRC,” says Vandore-Mackay.

‘Future Food Trends 2025’ will provide a glimpse into what’s next for consumers, with Charles Banks of thefoodpeople and Kelly Dowson of Good Sense Research leading the discussion.

Hilton Molino Stucky Venice Review

Discover the exquisite surroundings and history of Hilton Molino Stucky Venice

Situated in Italy’s iconic Venice on the peaceful island of Giudecca, Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is a modern Venetian masterpiece. Once before a flour mill factory, this historic building has been beautifully restored into a hotel with a number of recent refurbishments including sophisticated deluxe rooms, spacious elegant suites and a stunning Presidential Suite that is the highest and largest suite in Venice. It also includes one of the largest spas in Venice, a rooftop pool and bar, an award-winning conference centre and a collection of bars and restaurants to choose from.

After checking in, we were greeted by Jelena, the hotels Marketing Manager. She was a very friendly and lovely lady who showed us to our room. After dropping off our luggage, Jelena took us on a tour explaining the history behind the hotel. We had the chance to take a look at their Presidential Suite which was simply breathtaking. At 300sqm, the spacious new suite is designed with tranquil blue and silver interiors, large floor-to-ceiling windows allowing natural light to illuminate the delicate Murano glass vases and gives private access to the rooftop pool and bar.

Arriving at the Hilton, we were transported directly from the airport by a private water taxi, arranged by the hotel itself. The water taxi took us through the stunning buildings and bridges of Venice. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the hotel concierge who directed us to the reception desk to check in to our room. There were a number of reception desks with someone at each desk, which made our check in and check out process quick. The staff were friendly and helpful in giving us clear directions of how to get to our hotel room and use the key card to access the rooms.

At the reception desk, we were given a complimentary hotel shuttle boat timetable. The shuttle boat stops right outside the hotel entrance, and enabled us to travel 10 minutes to Zattere or San Marco. A very quick and easy way to get around Venice!

To see more on the Presidential Suite, please visit: www.hilton.com/en/hotels/vcehihihilton-molino-stucky-venice/rooms

With the hotel consisting of 379 rooms, 45 of them being luxurious suites, we had the opportunity to stay in one of the King Molino Executive rooms with a view of Venice. The room consisted of a very comfortable king size bed, a 40-inch HDTV, tea and coffee facilities, a spacious wardrobe, and a stunning marble bathroom. Each of these rooms have their own unique stylish painted wall design, with select fabric, timeless details and Murano-glass chandeliers to evoke the heritage of the building and Venice. The room was spotless and the city view was stunning. We were also greeted with complimentary drinks and snacks, along with a book containing the history of the hotel.

Recently renovated with a completely new design, the Hilton’s Skyline Cocktail Bar is the highest rooftop bar in Venice. Here you can enjoy the stunning views of Venice whilst sipping on one of their signature cocktails, that are a perfectly-crafted combination of flavours, textures, colours and innovative techniques masterfully brought to life by the mixologists, inspired by the Molino Stucky heritage, mesmerizing views and memorable moments from the rooftop bar. They had a great variety of cocktails to choose from and the menu included a QR code to allow guests to watch the mixology team create their cocktail virtually before it is served to them. This provides guests with the opportunity to learn more about each cocktail and to experience backstage behind the bar as patrons select their tipple of choice. It was truly a magical and relaxed experience!

More on the Skyline Rooftop Bar, can be found here: www.skylinebarvenice.it/en

On the second night of our stay, we were invited to dine in the Aromi Restaurant, just one of the three restaurants that the Hilton Molino Stucky have. Aromi is an intimate and elegant restaurant with a range of sumptuous signature dishes. The general atmosphere made us feel relaxed and comfortable. We were served by very friendly and welcoming staff. We opted for their meat tasting four course menu with the wine pairing. For each course, we were given a different wine to go with the dish. The wine connoisseur was very knowledgeable in knowing the flavours of the different wines and why they are paired with a specific dish. It was an excellent and interesting opportunity to be able to experience the different wines along with each dish. We very much enjoyed our experience in the Aromi Restaurant.

To see more on their menus, please visit: www.aromirestaurantvenice.com

Each morning, we enjoyed breakfast in a beautiful, relaxed setting of the Il Molino restaurant. We began the day with a luxurious Hilton buffet breakfast in this comfortable and spacious location. They had a large variety of breakfast items to cater for all ages and diets. We particularly enjoyed the selection of fruit and yoghurt that were available. The staff were polite and very accommodating. The champagne for breakfast was an excellent touch!

As part of a collaboration between the Hilton hotel and the Murano Glass Factory, we had the opportunity to experience a tour of the factory and see how all their glass ornaments were made. This was organized through the hotel and can be arranged directly through the Hilton. The hotel offers various

excursions for families, couples, groups and even single travelers where this experience is included.

Overall, we had an absolutely fantastic time visiting Venice and especially as we stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. We recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to visit Venice. You will not be disappointed!
