President Message FROM THE
Happy Spring everyone, and Happy Sneezing for my fellow allergy sufferers. It is hard to believe we are already a quarter of the way through 2024. Reeves Young is continuing to experience tremendous success as we close out projects and start many new ones.
In our recent staff meeting, we discussed our ambitious goals for 2024, and I am proud to report that we are on track. Since January 1, we have secured projects across four states, totaling over $400 million. This achievement is a testament to your expertise, dedication, and ability to deliver outstanding results.
This pace of growth presents both opportunities and challenges. As we expand into new geographic areas and take on larger projects, continuous improvement and maintenance are required to sustain this momentum. When this Company is at its best, we communicate, we collaborate, and we advocate…for each other.

SAFETY MESSAGE | JOE WEIMERSKIRCH
Construction Safety Week 2024 will take place May 6-10. The overall goal of Safety Week is to come together and recognize the value safety brings to all our lives. Obviously, for Reeves Young, that message has established itself as the foundation of our Work Safe–Home Safe Culture.
The theme for Construction Safety Week in 2024 is ”Value every voice.” This message aligns seamlessly with our Work Safe–Home Safe Culture. It is all of us engaging actively each and every day in the processes and values established to protect our most valuable asset—you. Never forget that you are the key to achieving Zero Injuries. Look for an email coming the last week of April that will provide direction and information for facilitating Safety Week at your location. Thanks for all you do.
MARCH 2024 ALERT
- Joe WeimerskirchSAFETY ALERTS
Our safety team is currently sending out companywide emails containing “Safety Alerts.” These alerts cover a range of environmental, health, and safety notifications, as well as near-miss alerts. This proactive approach ensures that all employees are promptly informed about potential hazards and safety issues, contributing to a culture of awareness and prevention across the organization.
In a recent incident, a Water Resources Business Unit tradesman’s commitment to wearing basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) prevented a potentially catastrophic injury. While jump-starting an excavator, the battery exploded, releasing acid and plastic shrapnel. Thanks to the tradesman’s safety glasses, his eyes were shielded, averting a life-altering injury.
This event underscores the vital role of basic PPE in safeguarding our employees. It serves as a reminder that even seemingly routine tasks can pose risks. Upholding a culture of safety rooted in care
and personal responsibility is essential in ensuring the well-being of all Reeves Young employees.
Could you let this incident reinforce the importance of consistently wearing PPE? We not only protect ourselves but also foster an environment where every individual’s well-being is valued and preserved.

Chad McLeodReeves Young is not immune to the vastly changing environment we live in today. We face more pressure than ever to keep up with increasing demands to deliver impactful results.
But even in the face of constant change, we need to rely on trusted principles and disciplines that guarantee results, enhance our culture, and promote opportunities through training and development.
In pursuit of this goal, we are formulating a comprehensive training schedule covering both personal and professional skills tailored to every position within the business unit, scheduled to be released in April.

ReevesIt has been a fast start to 2024 with the Company having over $400,000,000 in sales just the first quarter alone!! While that number is impressive, what means more to me is all of the time, effort, and energy that goes into making those sales happen:
• The business development and relationship-building that allows Reeves Young the opportunity to bid on the project;
• The preconstruction teams who stay late so the hard bids are ready on time;
• Re-pricing the jobs because the Owner/GC has changed how they need the pricing broken out;
• Comebacks, comebacks, and more comebacks to get to a “final” price;
• All the travel and hotel stays;
• The strategy on how to bid the job, where to take risk and where not to;
• The strategy on what to say and not to say during interviews.
The sales the Company has are fantastic, but all the work that goes into making the sale is what ultimately helps this company be successful. It also helps that once we make that sale, we are handing over our projects to some of the best builders in the Southeast!! Thank you for all your efforts.

Focusing on progress and improvement over perfection is essential for our development and growth as a business unit and a company. While perfection seems like it should be the goal, it often leads to procrastination because we fixate on achieving flawless results. Instead, focusing on progress encourages our resilience, thinking outside the box, and getting the job done. Focusing on progress over perfection also allows us to set realistic goals and celebrate our achievements, no matter how big or small. By prioritizing progress and improvement over perfection, we unlock our full potential!
Progress Over Perfection Unlocks Potential!
Message from the BUL | Stephen McMillan
I’m truly impressed by the progress we’ve made in 2023 and am eagerly anticipating what our company will achieve in 2024. Despite our progress, ongoing communication failures remain a significant challenge in our industry. Dealing with these issues can feel like a balancing act, yet effective communication is essential for the success of any project. Adopting a deliberate and thoughtful communication strategy will lead to notable rewards. It’s crucial to invest time in maintaining open and transparent communication, as this effort will yield considerable long-term benefits. By making a concerted effort to communicate clearly with all stakeholders, we can unlock the full potential of our teams and achieve remarkable outcomes together.

In our relentless pursuit of success and achievement, it’s crucial to anchor ourselves in what we can control: our daily effort and hard work. These elements serve as the foundation upon which we build our path forward, even amidst uncertainties and variables.
Rather than dissipating our energy into factors beyond our influence, let’s redirect our focus towards optimizing our dedication and commitment. Pressure, often seen as a challenge, is, in fact, a privilege that not everyone is fortunate enough to experience. It is the fuel that propels us towards greatness.
Let us embrace this privilege of pressure as a catalyst for growth. Each day presents us with opportunities to surpass our goals, break barriers, and elevate ourselves to new heights. It’s through persistent effort and unwavering dedication that we transform pressure into progress.
Together, let’s harness the power of pressure, viewing it not as a burden but as a badge of honor. Our collective commitment to growth will lead us to unparalleled success and fulfillment.
WATER RESOURCES
Message from the BUL | Matt McCormack
Water Resources is in a great position as we begin 2024! With a greater backlog than we have ever had before, we are on pace for a record year. Collaborative delivery projects have become more and more common in the water industry. Recent collaborative delivery wins include Dog River, Barber Creek, Braselton, Hahira, Hoschton, Cornish Creek, and hopefully a few more along the way. These qualification-based wins result from our reputation in the industry and the hard work of our Marketing and Preconstruction teams.

Over the last year, we have implemented several new processes to improve our performance. Over the next 90 days, Water Resources will implement HCSS Heavy Job. This software will give us real-time feedback on productions so that our field crews can know how they are performing relative to the estimate on a weekly and daily basis.
This will also be great feedback for Preconstruction so they can fine-tune their estimates.
This will make it more important than ever before to code time appropriately and to track quantities for work put in place. Garbage in, garbage out. This powerful software will help us do great things if we invest the effort so that the reports are based on accurate information. Thanks in advance for your help in getting this new program off the ground.

CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATION
ENSURING SUBCONTRACTOR COMPLIANCE
When Subcontractors are not compliant and working on our jobsites, Reeves Young is at risk for breach of contract with our Owners and has an increased liability risk in the event of an insurance claim.
To be Compliant, and before starting work on site, Subcontractors need to have:

The RY Sample Vendor COI can be found on the Monday PM Reference Board. While discussing Subcontractor scope of work, please collect a copy of the Subcontractor COI. Both Exhibit A/ Scope and COI can be uploaded to Monday when requesting Contract Administration create/send a Subcontract Agreement. Contract Administration will review and confirm the COI meets Reeves Young minimum insurance requirements as required by contract.
The Project Team should be reviewing jobsite schedules and confirming
the Subcontractors that are due on site are Compliant BEFORE they are working on site. Compliance can be verified in both Viewpoint SL Compliance and GC Pay Compliance Dashboard, if applicable to the project.
All compliance items are stored in Viewpoint SL Compliance – Insurance must have a valid date and the other items must be marked verified and complied. NonCompliant Subcontractors will not be paid.
Please reach out to Contract Administration if you have any questions.
