President Message FROM THE
I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the concept of ambition and how it relates to the changes we are currently experiencing within Reeves Young. Ambition is the driving force behind our progress and growth, and it is very closely intertwined with change. In an entrepreneurial and dynamic organization like ours, change is inevitable, and it is through change that we can pursue our ambitions. Change allows us to challenge ourselves, push boundaries, and strive for greatness. Embracing change with ambition allows us to unlock our full potential and achieve remarkable things.
Here are a few key points to consider as we embrace change with ambition:
EMBRACE A GROWTH MINDSET SET AMBITIOUS GOALS
FOSTER A CULTURE OF INNOVATION
SUPPORT EACH OTHER’S AMBITIONS
LEARN FROM SETBACKS
Remember, ambition is the driving force behind change. Embrace change with a sense of ambition and use it as a catalyst to achieve remarkable things. Let’s support one another in our ambitions and continue cultivating a company culture that fosters growth, innovation, excellence, and success built by relationship.
Ambition thrives in a growth mindset. Instead of fearing change, view it as an opportunity for personal and professional development. Embrace the challenges that come with change and see them as stepping stones towards achieving your ambitions.
Use this period of change as a catalyst to set ambitious goals for yourself and your team. Think big and aim high. Ambition requires us to stretch beyond our comfort zones and strive for excellence. Set clear, measurable goals that align with Reeves Young’s company goals of winning work, executing well, and continuously improving.
Ambition and change go hand in hand with innovation. Encourage creativity and out-of-the-box thinking within our team. Embrace new ideas and approaches that can propel us forward. Create an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute their innovative ideas.
Ambition is not an individual pursuit but a collective effort. Support your colleagues’ ambitions and help them succeed. Collaborate, share knowledge, and offer assistance when needed. Together, we can achieve far more than we can individually.
Ambition is not without its setbacks. It is important to view setbacks as learning opportunities rather than failures. When faced with challenges, analyze what went wrong, learn from it, and adapt your approach. Use setbacks as fuel to propel you forward toward your ambitions.
SAFETY
The message of “why” we put the level of focus, effort, and care into our health and safety culture is a foundational necessity to achieve zero injuries. For Reeves Young, the “why” of safety is clear – our culture and determination
to achieve safety excellence is rooted in care and compassion for those around us. Our new branded message reflects our desire to work without injury as a life choice. “Work Safe, Home Safe” incorporates safety into every aspect of our lives, whether at work, home, or play. It demonstrates why safety is so vital to us all – it’s for those we love and those who love us. Our “Work Safe, Home Safe” cultural initiative begins our journey of integrating safety into all aspects of our lives.
- Joe Weimerskirch Director of SafetySTEPPING UP TO THE CHALLENGE AT TOWN KENNESAW
Since September 2022, the team at Town Kennesaw, in Kennesaw, GA, has consistently strived for excellence in job site safety. Their steady commitment is fueled by the determination to instill the Reeves Young Safety Culture of Care and Personal Responsibility. From the outset, our team has encountered daily challenges posed by our valued trade partners. However, through consistent determination and an attitude of collaboration, they have forged a profound impact, setting a new standard and expectation for all involved.
Managing a demanding and intricate project like Town Kennesaw requires thorough planning and unwavering teamwork. By precisely arranging logistics, maintaining a steadfast focus on overall job site housekeeping, and going the extra mile to align our trade partners with our safety culture expectations, this team has set the bar and exemplified how Reeves Young envisions its job sites in terms of appearance and operation. I would like to extend my gratitude on behalf of the Safety Team and Commercial Business Unit for your strides in advancing our commitment to safety with our trade partners and clients. Your collective efforts have truly set an outstanding example for us all.

Message from the BUL | Chad McLeod
As we well know, with the rapid growth and positive changes Reeves Young is experiencing, it will become even more significant and necessary for us to hold ourselves and each other to the highest standards. Our team will continue to focus on our company goals of winning work, executing well, and continuously improving. With those goals top of mind, our Project Executives and Operations Managers have been working on a comprehensive review of our operations practices. Starting in early October, our Operations leadership will begin placing each project in progress into Operations Review to ensure our operational excellence. Part of this process will be making certain that we have standardization on all of our jobs and that we are operating in our Super 6 best practices. This will ensure that no matter what job site you are on or that our clients visit, their experience is the same. I am confident this exercise will help us remain focused on our projects’ success and our team’s success. I remain grateful to each of you for your dedication to this business unit and our company as a whole.

Message from the BUL | William Reeves
As we continue towards the end of a record-setting year, please remember to thank all the men and women in the field who make it happen each day. Without their hard work and determination, our record-setting year doesn’t happen. They work in extreme temperatures and work long hours to ensure our project schedules are met. Reeves Young’s field crews are second to none!! Undoubtedly, we have some of the most talented field personnel in the construction industry. Visiting with our field crews goes a long way toward promoting a great company culture. They enjoy seeing management, preconstruction, and safety out on job sites. Taking the time to thank them reminds them how valuable they are to the success of Reeves Young. With that in mind, our team recently celebrated at our Databank ATL4 project with a Friday afternoon cookout for the entire crew. In addition to thanking our crews for their hard work, this kind of gratitude sends our clients and owners a message that we truly are Built By Relationship.

Although it’s still very hot in the Southeast, we’re heading into the end of the year, and challenging weather will be here shortly. Now is the time to prepare for success that can be achieved as we move into the weather months. If we have the foresight to prepare for these challenges now, it will cause us less limitations in the future. If we’re not proactive now, we will be reactive later, which will greatly limit our ability to be successful on our projects. We’re about 70% through the year and on track to double our revenue from the previous year, but this can only be achieved if we don’t let complacency set in. Let’s finish the year as strongly as we started and push past the goals we’ve set in 2023!

As many of you know, during the last quarter, my wife and I welcomed our first child into our home. This has been such a blessing to our family and has been a very exciting adventure. I can’t wait to get home each day to tell her stories about what I did that day. I’m hopeful that one day she’ll want to share her daily highlights when she’s old enough.
As this process has transpired, it has allowed me to understand all the small accomplishments required to achieve major milestones. Each day we are contending with obstacles such as weather, supply chain issues, equipment failures, or sometimes even Clients or Designers. All these successes add up to significant accomplishments. I encourage each of you to celebrate your daily achievements and make sure you accomplish your goals in a manner that you would be proud to share with your families after a hard day of work!

WATER RESOURCES
Message from the BUL | Matt McCormack
As the Water Resources industry shifts more and more to alternative delivery, our business unit has turned in 8 proposals in the last 60 days with a value of over $500 Million. Working on these pursuits has been an opportunity to form teams and connect dots on relationships from our corporate and personal histories. One of the evaluators in an interview we participated in last week was a client on my first project in 1995!
This has been a great reminder to me of the value of relationships. That person’s first impression of me, and indirectly Reeves Young, was formed when I was just 25 years old. Please take this as a reminder that the clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors whom you are dealing with now you will likely see again. And again, and again. My challenge to our team is to not be shortsighted in your decisions today because they can absolutely affect your future – positively or negatively.
