MESSAGE FROM THE President - Chad McLeod

I am beyond proud to announce that Reeves Young has achieved another record-breaking Company milestone! In just half a year – six months – this team has not only met, but exceeded our Sales goal for the entire year. This is a HUGE accomplishment, and one that can only be celebrated because of the hard work and dedication of our employees across all of our three offices, four business units, and six support departments. From our entire Leadership team – thank you and fantastic job, Reeves Young!

SAFETY FIRST

Thanks to our Work Safe Home Safe culture at Reeves Young, our safety practices continue to improve. Our most recent numbers are a testament to all your efforts. Year to date, Reeves Young has worked over 650,000 manhours. While we do have four recordables so far this year, those incidents have resulted in zero lost days. Four recordables is more than we are willing to accept, but this is certainly an improvement from previous years. In summary, Reeves Young is getting home safely, and we are getting home to the ones we love and the ones who love us!

Much as the Business Units have grown, our Safety department is growing as well. We are excited to share that David White will be joining our department and will support our safety efforts in Nashville. David has over a decade of experience in safety and will be a tremendous asset to our projects. Please

Message

from the BUL | Chad McLeod

It has only been a few months since we were all together for the State of the Business Unit meeting, but it feels much longer due to the amount of progress made in such a short time. These achievements only happen because of your dedication, hard work, and commitment to making our team stronger by supporting each other.

As we look back on the last six months, there is not enough space to list all the positives and great things occurring one by one, but we are certainly going to try!

IN THE LAST MONTHS SIX

We have won multiple new projects out of each of the three RY Offices (GA, TN, SC)

The successful completion and ribbon cuttings for both newly constructed and renovated buildings.

16

We have been awarded 16 projects.

The start of and ceremonial groundbreakings for numerous new projects.

Our Win Rate is 36%. We have already pursued 45 projects and won 16. One out of every three projects we bring home.

06

More work put in place in the first six months than previously recorded for a whole year. $507M

We have been awarded $507M worth of new projects. 127% of our yearly goal has been achieved!

We have diversified business with projects in seven different market sectors .

We added 13 new members to the team!

Secured contract backlog into 2027 = Security, Growth, Opportunity

The overall health of the business unit is very strong. Continued success is predicated on our ability to remain focused on the Super 6. Thank you all for what you do every day to make yourself and the Business Unit successful and to make RY a great place to work!

Message HEAVY CIVIL

from the BUL | William Reeves

You often hear about Reeves Young’s diversity and how important it is to the continued success here. Heavy Civil’s growth in the data center sector is another example of this. Six years ago, Heavy Civil began working on our first data center campus, installing water/sewer lines on a META (Facebook) Campus. As office buildings, condos, and other market sectors have slowed down in the past few years, the data center market has done just the opposite. Metro Atlanta has experienced tremendous growth in this sector. It is a credit to Reeves Young and Heavy Civil to see this shift coming and adjust quickly to meet the market demand. In the past year, Heavy Civil has been awarded over $70 million in data center-related contracts and is projected to do over $34 million in revenue this year on those contracts. The growth has also included diversifying for whom we work. Clients include META, Switch, Databank, Verizon, Flexential, and Aligned.

The big question for data centers is if they will have enough power to continue this record growth. Good news for RY, we work for Georgia Power, as well.

We are responsible for clearing, erosion control, demolition, grading, utilities, shotcrete retaining wall, modular block retaining wall, curb and gutter, and asphalt paving. Reeves Young also performed the first expansion at this campus. The work is being performed for Holder Construction Company.

INDUSTRIAL

from the BUL | Stephen McMillan Message

As we reach the halfway mark of the year, it’s truly remarkable to witness the significant progress and success within Industrial. Numerous projects are not only meeting their financial targets but are also being delivered on time, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our teams.

Operations play a pivotal role in this success. Their unwavering commitment to fulfilling the promises made by Preconstruction is absolutely critical for our ongoing growth, particularly in today’s challenging market. This synergy between Operations and Preconstruction ensures that we consistently meet and exceed our clients’ expectations, building a strong foundation for future achievements.

In this dynamic and competitive environment, the ability to deliver on our commitments is more important than ever. The seamless collaboration between our teams is a testament to our shared vision and dedication to excellence. As we continue to navigate the complexities of the market, let’s celebrate our successes and stay focused on maintaining the high standards that drive our growth and success.

Early Issue Mitigation

One crucial lesson we’ve learned in construction is the importance of handling issues early, as major obstacles don’t disappear with time; they typically compound. In our experience, minor problems that are ignored or postponed often escalate into significant challenges that can disrupt project timelines and inflate costs. By addressing issues as soon as they arise, we’ve found that solutions are more manageable, and the overall impact on the project is minimized. This proactive approach not only keeps the project on track but also fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration. It has taught us that early intervention is essential for maintaining momentum, ensuring quality, and building trust with clients and stakeholders.

Scope includes new Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Facility, UV Disinfection, Odor Control, Solids Handling, Fine Screening Facility, Administration Building as well as upgrades to numerous existing structures. The project reached a major milestone in June 2024 putting into service much of the facility. The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.

BUL TOPIC OF INTEREST

Schedule with a Purpose

In the last quarter, many of you have taken Primavera P6 training, and more of you will take it later in the summer. Hopefully, this was helpful in your mastery of this critical skillset. Having an accurate, well-thought-out schedule is one of the most important things we do when we set up a project.

Do we clearly understand the critical path for the project?

Have we identified the impact of long lead delivery items?

It is just as important to have accurate updates.

Are we documenting weather days?

Does our schedule show when the Owner or Engineer has delayed us?

As we tackle larger and more complex projects, it is critical that we are identifying and documenting delays in a timely manner and not waiting to identify them at the end of the project.

Lastly, it is very important that the project scheduler is not the only person looking at the schedule. Your team should be reviewing the project schedule on a monthly basis to ensure that everyone is staying on track for on-time completion.

Giving Back

Reeves Young recently completed a volunteering opportunity at the North Gwinnett Co-Op where we helped filter and sort clothing for selling at the Second Blessings Thrift Store. The funds earned at the Thrift Store help to provide medication and utility assistance for families in need. The Preconstruction Team enjoyed the opportunity to help give back to the community and have a little fun in the process. The next time you have clothes, accessories, or household items you don’t need, consider a donation to the North Gwinnett Co-Op!
