KC LASER TAG R | 6/9/2022
The Laser Tag Fundraiser was lots of fun, because I got to engage with my friends while supporting a cause and feeling involved in my community. It was also something I looked forward to and encouraged me to also meet new people. All in all, I would recommend going to events to others, because it makes you feel positive about your actions and heartwarming experience.
CAR WASH
| 6/10/2022
The Key Club car wash event (held near the Bayside Athletic Field) was a very enjoyable experience as we received many donations from generous people including a former Bayside student. Although cleaning the cars was pretty exhausting, knowing that my friends and peers accompanied me made all the work worthwhile and we had a great time. Overall, I believe that this event was very successful and I would love to attend again if ever given the opportunity. - Jennifer Lo

ARDEN CLEAN-UP 2022
I am very happy and grateful to have the opportunity to participate in many interesting volunteer activities through Key Club. One of them, on June 11th, I went to the Fort Totten Gardens to help the staff there clear the weeds around the Fort Totten Officers' Club. Although it was only two hours, we cleared out several large bags of weeds. Immediately the garden was clean, and both flowers and grass were taken care of. After the cleanup, the garden staff told us that the building (castle) was originally used by the US Army Corps of Engineers as an officer canteen and club. In the building (castle) there are not only living rooms but also hospitals, barracks, storage rooms, etc. I was shocked when I heard it, I didn't expect it to be such a historic building. So participating in these extracurricular activities can not only help our community become better but also learn a lot of interesting things.
RONALD MCDONALD
HOUSE | 6/11/2022

The June Ronald McDonald House event was a great and interesting event! With access to a full sized kitchen and utensils, we created over 30 meals for families of children in hospitals using fresh ingredients. Specifically, we made curry which consisted of peeling potatoes, making rice, grilling chicken, stirring the pot, and much more. I especially loved being in the environment and working alongside other Key Clubbers while directly making an impact and helping others. Overall, I absolutely recommend this event to others who are interested in trying something new and being involved, even without any experience!
DIVISION 8 V FUNDRAISER
VOLLEYBALL | 6/14/2022
The Volleyball Tournament fundraiser was so much fun because I was able to enjoy hanging out with my friend and play volleyball while supporting a good cause and having fun. I was super happy when I first made it there because I was able to see my friends from other schools and not to mention, I even made new friends and met new people! I would definitely recommend going to events to others because you get to support a fundraiser while meeting new people and it gives you a gratifying experience. - Tracy Cheung
KEY CLUB DINNE
ER | 6/15/2022 This year, we were able to hold our Key Club dinner. With many speeches, good food, and activities like bingo, we ended the school year off successfully! It was fun being able to eat dinner with everyone all dressed up and being able to relax after a tiring year. I really enjoyed everyone ' s speeches and could tell it came from their hearts. I can't wait for next year ' s dinner! - Theresa Cheung
FIELD DAY |
I had an amazing time at field day because I made a lot of new memories! The best part was being able to hang out with so many people from different schools. My favorite activity was tug of war because my friends and I managed to win. And the live concert at the end was a really great way to finish off a wonderful day! - Angelina Shen 6/25/2022
NYC PRIDE MAR
CH | 6/26/2022
- Divina Lu
My experience at NYC Pride March was incredible. I initially signed up for NYC Pride March to commemorate the LGBTQ+ community and honor the Stonewall Uprising that eventually established LGBTQ+ rights, per the purpose of Pride Month. However, the on-site scenery struck me deeply. Tens of thousands of participants and a sea of sidewalk spectators were caught in my view, it sure was a diverse community and feeling of pride. This event truly resembles the sentiments of acceptance, respect, and jubilation as if everyone, regardless of diversity, ethnicity, gender, age, or any other differences unifies to work towards a future without discrimination where all people have equal rights under the law. It is definitely a recommended event for others to attend, although it might not be really height-friendly and the pride gadgets were really expensive.
IN PERSON DIVIS
IONAL | 7/3/2022
D8 in person divisional recap (probably my last one too lol). The divisional started, we started cleaning up various weeds and shrubbery. I sat down with a few people that I knew. My president from my school, a fellow member and we could barely hear Yifei due to how big the place was. Later we were soon invited by the district bulletin editor to sit on their picnic blanket. The divisional started and we reiterated some of the talking points during virtual and then we transitioned to the tote bag decorations. Overall I had a pretty good time and sadly I had to leave early due to other things I had to do in the day. Oh yea I gotta thank Cindy for the noodles, they were great! - Roy Lu
LANDSCAPING AT RESERVOIR
-
THE RIDGEWOOD | 7/10/2022
My experience landscaping at the Ridgewood Reservoir was very enjoyable. Me and 5 other volunteers from Bayside High School pulled invasive species of plants out of the garden and picked up trash from the surrounding border around the reservoir. The employees at the reservoir were very friendly and taught a lot about the history of the reservoir, the plants, and the pollinators that live at the reservoir. The day that the event took place was very sunny and warm which made walking through the reservoir very relaxing. It was a great event to be outdoors and enjoy nature with other people.

ASTORIA SHORELINE
CLEAN-UP | 7/16/2022
The Astoria Shoreline clean-up event was a significant and calming experience for my friends and me. Everyone could walk and talk while enjoying the shoreline view and picking up garbage. It was eye-opening to see the amount of waste my peers and I had picked up and the amount of glass scattered on the sand. If I were to go back to the shoreline, I would wear shoes with thicker soles because stepping and feeling all of the glass was interesting... - Ella Song
ROLLER SKATING FUN
Going to the Roller Skating Fundaiser was not fun. As someone who doesn’t know how to skate, and IM A TOWER YOU GOT LOWER CENTER OF GRAVITY, I was forced to roller skate by yours truly VP - Myra. Besides almost dying from the heat just getting there, I fought for my life in the arena. It was fun toppling and skating with friends only until they’ve grown impatient and left me while I held the wall like a grandpa on a cane. After having great fun for two laps in the arena, I left feeling great with my dignity restored and the event making my day. - Jimmy Liu
NDRAISER | 7/23/2022
HONG KONG DRAGO 7/10/
“I got to go on a couple platoons for a while and helped the competitors that were on the water line up so they could start the race. We also helped the teams get on and off the boat, and we got to see some of the rituals they did before the race started. I would absolutely recommend this event to others. The staff is super friendly and you get to do many tasks that most likely are a first for people. Overall, it’s a great event that people should try at least once, plus you get free food, which is always great. Just remember to bring sunscreen and hats.” - Danny Lin
N BOAT FESTIVAL /2022
COLOR RUN |
7/30/2022
Although school has been paused over the summer, my Key Club spirit is continued to be pursued, which is why I signed up for the Color Run otherwise known as the Happiest 5K on planet. Certainly, I was not aware that I will be turning into a smurf with semi-permanent blue dyes that I had to remove using my mom ’ s makeup remover. On the day of the event, I woke up extremely early in the AMs but was filled with enthusiasm. Luckily, the event matched my enthusiasm and made up for the lacking hours of sleep. However, if it was not for the severe heat, I would gladly stay for longer. This event is definitely worth a strong recommendation, where you rev the crowd by tossing colors at them, celebrating healthiness, happiness, and individuality of approximately 8,000 runners along with hundreds of volunteers/staff. - Longwei Lin
