ROOF DRAINAGE Gutter to be marley deep flow gutter , downpipe to be 75mm dia UPVC. RWP to discharge below grating level into a grated gully and hence into new soakaway. All DPC's to be bitumen based or Hyload (or equal approved) to comply with B.S. 6398 1983, B.S. 743 and CP102 part 2 1973 and be positioned in all ground floor walls and beneath timber wall plates where applicable. Horizontal DPC's to be min 150mm above finished ground levels paving (finished) planting and roofing levels Insulating DPC's to be provided to reveals and jambs of all openings in cavity walls and to be "Damcor" or similar approved. Provide weepholes where applicable fitted in accordance with manufacturer's specification. 14.CAVITY WALL CONSTRUCTION: All brickwork and blockwork to be constructed in accordance with BS 5628. Mortar for brickwork and blockwork to be (1:1:6).Two leaves of cavity wall construction to be tied together with stainless steel ties laid 900mm centers horizontally and 450mm centers vertically.At all openings ties to be at 300mm centers vertically. Store bricks and blocks in stable stacks, clear of the ground and clearly identified by type, strength, grade, etc. Protect from inclement weather and keep dry.Construct walling with all materials fully bonded or tied together to ensure compliance with design requirements for stability,strength,fire resistance,thermal & sound insulation as relevant.Lay bricks/blocks on a full bed of mortar and fill all cross and collar joints. Do not use shell bedding. 15.STRUCTURAL STEELWORK: All steel beams to be Grade S355 and comply with BS 5950. All structural steelwork to be adequately protected against fire to the satisfaction the Local Building Control Officer and in accordance with details and specifications.For corrosion protection of steelwork apply Leigh's paints. Shop preparation and primer application must be in accordance with Leigh's specifications. All steel beams to be encased in two layers of 12.5mm plasterboard. 16.LINTELS Provide galvanised steel lintels to all openings (insulated) in strict accordance with drawings. 17.STRUCTURAL TIMBER: All timber is designed to BS 5268.All timber to be grade C24 unless shown otherwise. Do not use timber members which are damaged, crushed or split beyond the limits permitted by their grading. Ensure that notches and holes are not so positioned in relation to knots or other defects that the strength of members will be reduced. Do not use scarf joints, finger joints or splice plates without approval. Keep timber dry and do not overstress, distort or disfigure timber during transit, storage, lifting, erection or fixing. Store timber and components under cover, clear of the ground and with good ventilation. Support on regularly spaced, level bearers on a dry, firm base. Open pile to ensure free movement of air through the stack. 18.TEMPORARY BRACING OF RAFTERS: Provide temporary bracing as necessary to maintain structural timber in position and to ensure complete stability during construction. 19.LATERAL RESTRAINT STRAPS: Ensure that cranked end is in tight contact with cavity face of wall inner leaf and is not pointing upwards. Fix noggins and packs beneath straps which span joists running parallel to wall. Noggins and packs to fit tightly and be not less than three quarters of joist depth. Notch joists so that straps fit flush with surface. Fix straps to joists with not less than four 50 mm x 8g sherardized screws, evenly spaced. 20.TRUSS CLIPS: Pre-galvanised truss clips, by IG Limited, to be fixed securely with 30x3.75 mm square twisted sherardized nails in every hole. 21.TIE-DOWN STRAPS: Pre-galvanised straps, by BPC Building Products, to be 30x2.5x100x1000mm long at 1200mm c/c. Ties to be securely fixed to timber plates with not less than two 30x3.75mm sherardized nails and to masonry with 4/50x8g plug and screws evenly spaced. 22.WALL PLATES: Ensure that wall plates are Positioned and aligned to give the correct span and level for trusses. Fully bedded in fresh mortar. In lengths of not less than 3m with half lap joints.
