But there is more to Katrina Kaif then just her beauty. She has always been in news more for her personal relations than for her movies. That’s one point where her contemporaries beat her. But her confidence and her charisma makes up for it. It’s not a very good phase for her on the personal front as rumours of her break up from Ranbir Kapoor are all over the news. Deepika and Ranbir’s proximity to each other during the shoot and promotions of ‘Tamasha’ definitely led to all of this. Not to mention Ranbir’s parents who were never willing to accept this relation. But she has remained calm and composed taking every struggle in her stride. Let’s talk to her with regards to Ranbir, her movies and her plans forward.

How will you term your journey in Bol- Confidence is key to success as well, lywood? would you agree? I just remember having passionate goals. When I first came to India, I was clear I wanted to be a model. When I learnt more about the modeling industry, I wanted to be the face of a brand, be a showstopper. I had benchmarks that I wanted to achieve. Once I did, I moved on. My sights were automatically then set on films. Maybe it was the people around me; it just seemed like the next big challenge. Films were like the Mount Everest that I had to tackle. Things happened slowly. Trying to get comfortable on the set, working on my diction and dance. It was a journey, but it was in my destiny, not something that I could have planned.
You have always been very simple with your dressing as well as your makeup? If you sit for two hours every day doing hair and make-up for 85 per cent of the year, you don’t want to spend the rest of your time away from the set getting ready. If I’m in London with my sisters or stepping out for dinner with friends at the Marriott, I don’t want to get dressed up. You forget how you actually look!” The same goes with my dressing. I don’t want to get too loud with my dressing. I prefer to wear something in which I am comfortable. One should always wear something which they can carry off well.
Talking about family, you spend all your big days with your sisters and mom? You know, there’s so little time I get beyond work that I try and steal that to be with my closest people. We sisters are just a year apart and really close. So, I try and work out my schedule such, that on days like Christmas, New Year or my birthday, we are all together. Typically for women who have very packed professional lives, the challenge is to divide time.
What is that one thing that the industry has taught you? One thing that I have learnt in these years in Bollywood, especially, having come from a completely different country, is that it’s extremely important to adapt yourself to different situations if you want to do well. I’m not saying do whatever is being asked of you, but be flexible, only then will you be able to find new opportunities and learn new things, both of which are very important for professional growth. Also, I learnt to trust the right people. It’s an extremely competitive world out there. I am an actress, you could be a corporate lawyer, a fashion designer or a pilot, but the pressure that all of us are under is almost similar. When we are rising up the professional ladder, and when we get too engrossed in our work, we often get excited by opportunities and prospects and lose the real perspective. That’s when you need to turn to these people.
Well, this is a tricky one. I think it’s a little bit of an egg and chicken situation. If you don’t have confidence on your abilities you can’t get ahead, and at the same time, the more successful you become, the more confident you get. Well, I agree that confidence is key to who you are. But, it’s not something that you can acquire overnight. As you work your way up, you realise what your strengths are and you build on them and your confidence grows with it.
But you do follow a beauty regimen… Of course, eating healthy and going to the gym are habits that are great for your system at all times. Your skin looks great, your hair shines and you feel like a better person. Especially if you have good skin, half your battle of looking good is won.
Is it true that you and Ranbir have broken up? I have never spoken about my relationship to anyone. It’s a very private thing and I would like to keep it private. Many times, you want to come out and speak your heart openly and just want to say exactly what you feel at the moment. But from my personal experience, it is better to not speak much about your personal life and rather speak about your profession. Try and let your work speak for itself because at the end of the day, that’s what you want your identity to be, and you want your respect to come from your work. That’s what should be out there. But were you always insecured about Ranbir? There were reports that you stormed into the ‘Tamasha’ wrap up bash, which made Ranbir and Deepika quite uncomfortable. It’s all rubbish. I would never go somewhere uninvited. It is an interesting question because I also read that. When I was reading that, I wanted to ask the person that do I look very silly to you? Like when you think of Katrina, do you think I am silly? When you think of Ranbir, do you think of a silly person? When you think of Deepika, do you think of a silly person? NO! We are not silly or foolish people. We are not! I don’t go storming on to the sets if I am not invited or if I am not meant to be there.
Is Ranbir’s family the reason for the break up? I am not one to comment on that. But I will say that I was never too close to Ranbir’s family as much as I wanted to be.
Were you the reason that Neetu Singh was absent from the Kapoor Khandaan Christmas lunch? I have no idea on that.

Aamir portrays the role of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in the film, which is a biopic. Aamir’s character will grow old over the course of the film. The actor has completed shooting for the portion where he plays a 55-year-old. Now he has started preparing himself for portions where he is required to appear much younger. The actor would also be playing a 20-year-old depicting a young Mahavir Singh Phogat. To lose the extra weight, he will train exactly the way the wrestlers do. This includes an intense workout session for one hour in the morning combined with a balanced diet. It is a two hour diet process, which means he has to eat every two hours. In total, he has nine meals a day balanced with carbs and proteins. He is currently under the supervision of dietician Dr. Vinod Dhurander, according to a report in The Indian Express. ‘Dangal’ is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and also stars television actor Sakshi Tanwar in the role of the wrestler’s wife. The sports biopic is set to release later this year.

Sanjay Dutt and the yoga guru had also previously met at a private Ganeshotsav function in Mumbai in September last year when the actor was out on a month’s parole. Confirming the meeting, Ramdev said, “I met Sanjay for five minutes and he claimed that he is practicing yoga daily in prison. Sanjay is a good human being and we have a good relationship from the past. I blessed him and also prayed to God that he be released soon.” Ramdev advised him to do suryanamaskar and pranayam and also demonstrated breathing techniques for him. As many as 500 inmates including convicts and under-trails along with jail staff attended the yoga session where Ramdev taught them how to be physically and mentally fit. He also advised them to give up smoking and hookah as a ‘dakshina’ for yoga. Sanjay Dutt is expected to be released from jail sometime this year. The actor has served more than 50 months out of the sentence of 60 months that was awarded to him. A regular remission was granted by the authorities on account of good conduct.

Sunjay is a third class man, I never wanted Karisma to marry him The latest divorce petition filed by Sunjay’s lawyer alleges that the actress married the Delhi-based businessman “in a calculated and clinical manner to pursue a lavish lifestyle”, according to a Mumbai Mirror report. Ex-Miss World Diana Hayden gives birth from her frozen egg Former Miss World and actress Diana Hayden became a proud mother of a baby girl born out of an egg she froze eight years ago! Diana reportedly gave birth at the Surya Mother and Child Hospital in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Arya’s birth is proof that egg freezing which was considered technically difficult until a decade ago, works and could liberate woman from the constant worry of the ever ticking biological clock. Diana learnt about the egg freezing technology when she was 32 way back in 2006 and took the wise decision of freezing her eggs. She froze 16 eggs between October 2007 and March 2008. “I froze my eggs for two reasons; I was busy with my career at that time and, more important, I was very clear that I was going to wait to fall in love and marry before having a baby,” the 42-yearold beauty said in her interaction with a leading daily. “A career woman need not think about her biological clock and get pressurized into getting married earlier than she wants to or have a baby when she isn’t ready,” she added. Diana got married to American Collin Dick in September, 2013. The couple learned that Diana suffers from a condition called endometriosis which results from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the womb. Rakhi Sawant’s brother arrested for molesting an actress Rakhi Sawant’s brother Rakesh Sawant was booked in a sexual harassment case. TV actress Ritu Khanna of ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’, ‘Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki’, ‘Shankuntala’ and ‘Crime Patrol’ has filed a molestation case against Rakesh Sawant who was arrested by police following the complaint. The incident took place when Ritu Khanna went to a coffee shop with her boyfriend Rohit Kapoor at Lokhandwala. Rakesh was already present with his group of friends. According to Ritu, Rakesh started passing comments towards her and also tried to click her photo with his mobile phone. Ritu’s boyfriend said that there was another couple who was sitting in the coffee shop and Rakesh did the same thing to them. The couple had complained to the manager about Rakesh before they entered the cafe. Ritu’s boyfriend also added that when he saw Rakesh clicking his girlfriend’s picture, he couldn’t control his anger and immediately called the police. According to sources, Rakesh was under the influence of alcohol. The actress filed a complaint at Oshiwara Police station. Later, Rakesh was released on bail after he pleaded for his innocence. Police are still investigating the case and acquired the CCTV footage of the coffee shop.

An FIR has been lodged against Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddhiqui for assaulting a woman physically over a parking dispute. The victim named, Hina Shaikh registered a case against Nawaz at the Versova police station in. The victim accused Nawaz of getting physical with her and slapping her over a parking issue. Arun Chavan, assistant commissioner of police, said, “We registered a case against Nawazuddin under IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) based on the complainant’s version. As of now we have not arrested any person, and are in the process of verifying the facts.”

To begin the contract each spouse states the net commencement value of their respective assets at the beginning of marriage and assets acquired before the marriage are excluded from the accrual. The values are compared to show the accrual in each spouse’s property since marriage, taking inflation into account. Once liabilities are deducted, spouses then share their gains made during the marriage, this benefits the economically weaker spouse. In this instance also, if one of you goes into debt, it cannot be claimed from the estate of the other. In order from either of you benefitting from the accrual, an ANC must be entered into. With this information in mind, you both should think carefully as to what marital regime will be ideal to enter into. Marriage is a work in progress and it would be best to know your legal and financial responsibilities from the outset so that you can both understand the expectations you have of each other as you progress through your milestones. his singer has enthralled the audience with his incredible and unique voice. The Punjabi background to his songs has become a hit with youngsters who groove to his dance numbers. In a short span of time he has become the most famous name with all the music directors. Let’s look at his journey to Bollywood
How did you become a singer? I was born in Durgapur, but brought up in Patiala. I am the youngest of six brothers and we were all into music. I actually wanted to become a music director and thought that to become that, you need to learn instruments, so I learnt how to play the guitar, tabla and drum set. My oldest brother had moved to the US and was driving a taxi there. Dalerji, who is nine years older to me, also moved there and started driving our Khalsa cabs that we owned. But he did not like it, he fought and came back to Delhi in 1991 to become a singer. I too shifted along with him. I was just 15 and got a band Page 52
together for Dalerji by teaching them to play instruments. The band obviously, had Dalerji as its lead singer. In 1995, ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra Ra’ became a huge hit. I then composed ‘Dardi Rab Rab’ for him that too became a hit. In 1998, one of his managers told me, ‘You can become a big star if you sing yourself.’ I told him, ‘I don’t want to become a singer, I only want to become a music director.’ That’s the time I composed ‘Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag’ in Hindi, as I had to distinguish my work from Daler paaji. I never knew that it would become a hit. If I made `1,000 being a part of Dalerji’s band, I started making `50,000, so khoon lag gaya mujhe. Even though I was not a good singer, people had made me one. For three years, I did riyaaz for singing and I released ‘Gabru’ in 2001 that became a big thing within the Punjabi circuit. By this time, I had become a full-fledged singer.

21st Annual Life OK Screen Awards, held at MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex. The evening was made special by the stars that walked the red carpet. Priyanka Chopra, sporting a vintage look in a pale pink gown, took home the Best Actor (Female) award for her performance in ‘Mary Kom’ while Shahid Kapoor, looking dapper in a sharp, dark brown suit, got Best Actor (Male) for his Hamlet act in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’. Matching up to their glamour quotient was Tabu, who came dressed in a red sari. Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Anurag Kashyap Flanked by actors Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap wasn’t complaining. The three shared a light moment backstage as each one of them walked away with the coveted trophy. He arrived on stage manning a tank as ‘Jee karda’, the song from his next film, Badlapur, played in the background. Dressed in combat clothes, he jumped off the tank, however did not have smooth landing, which led to him injuring his foot. Yet, without flinching, Varun Dhawan went on to deliver a lively performance, showing that he was in pain only once he stopped for a breather, before his next act. His reward was a resounding applause by the audience and a word of praise by Deepika Padukone who told him how his mother, who was in the audience, was proud of him. The evening, however, belonged to the winners of quality cinema for 2014. It was heart-warming to see the entire team of ‘Queen’ in attendance to receive the Best Film Award. The film’s director, Vikas Bahl, took home the Best Director trophy. On a similar note, the entire crew of ‘Manjunath’ came on stage to receive the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for making a courageous film on the slain whistle blower, Manjunath Shanmugam. For ‘Happy New Year’, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika received the Best Actor in Popular category awards for Male and Female respectively. To supplement the award distribution were some entertaining acts by the younger stars. Sidharth Malhotra played host, while Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Malaika Arora Khan entertained the audience. Shah Rukh Khan not only grooved but also hosted a segment that the audience loved.
