The Glam Doll She is known as a glam doll in the industry with her flawless beauty and well-shaped body. She appears to be positive and bubbly irrespective of the happenings in her personal and professional life. She has no qualms about having no releases in the last year and she does not even want to be No. 1. She is very happy with the way her career is going and the roles that she’s getting, also she is still not ready to talk about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor and now even Hrithik Roshan. She talks about working with the three Khans in an interview with our SAIndia correspondent.

The year 2013 had been a little dull professionally, but you started off with a bang this year? Of course I did not have any releases last year, but I was reading a lot of scripts and was shooting for Dhoom 3. So I wouldn’t say it was dull. I had worked very hard on Dhoom 3, on my physical appearance.
Then what prompted you to take up this role? It was the script. They came up with a really good story and were not just relying on the Dhoom franchise. For me honestly, from a personal perspective, it was the performance and the dance sequences. For me to get the chance to experience circus performance and acrobats was fabulous! Dance in the last few years has been a big passion for me. It’s an aspect of our industry which sometimes is a little under-recognised. The chance to do the kind of acts I got to do in D3 — with the straps, hoops, acrobats — is something that would not come to me again and that was where my head was at that time.
Have you seen the previous Dhooms? Yes, I have seen both of them. I don’t remember the first one as it was too long ago but I remember the second one very well. There is no franchise like D3 in India. It’s very innovative for its time. It is the traditional cops and robbers story but the format is innovative. It was a clever idea.
Who is the toughest Khan to work with? No one has been tough or bad — the three Khans are all great people but the equations I have shared with all three are different. With Salman, whom I have known for nine years, my equation is different. Shooting with him sometimes does become awkward because you know the person so well. Like during the Mashallah song in Ek Tha Tiger, he kept laughing when I was singing the romantic lines. When Kabir would come and say, ‘Salman we have to shoot the song’, he would just brush him off and laugh. What is so funny? Nobody else in the country finds it so funny! (laughs) But with Shah Rukh and Aamir... there are two actors, two people who don’t know each other so well Page 14

No, I have not worn any bikini. I don’t think in any part of the world what I have worn in the poster will be considered as a bikini considering my bikini experiences this year! (Laughs). I have not sworn off wearing anything. I am not that childish. If you are asking if I will stop wearing bikinis in my personal life, while on holidays then no, I won’t. The pictures came as a shock. It didn’t happen in year one of my career but in year 10. In that moment when one is hurt or upset one will react on impulse and that was my impulsive reaction. Some people told me I should have reacted and some said I shouldn’t have reacted at all. Both opinions were right.
Your colleagues say that you seem to display cold vibes, is it true? I am a very emotionl person. My emotions get multiplied 100 times, as compared to others. So I have built a wall around myself so that no one can hurt me to a great extent. I do not like to explain my personality to those who do not bother to understand. If they don’t see the truth, they don’t have to know the truth. That’s what I believe. I build a wall to protect myself. The highs and lows I feel are extreme. When I feel low it’s painful. And those lows are only brought by things in your personal life. I’m a very emotional personal but I know that there’s a place and time for it and I keep that side of me where it needs to be and don’t carry it with me to work on a film set.

Maybe this started after Kareena came on KWK but I wasn’t on that show and that’s unfortunate for me and if I am not mistaken Ranbir also didn’t say anything about marriage. The comments were made in jest. That’s all.
Is it true that Ranbir is commitment phobic and that’s what has created a tiff in your relationship? I think it’s better if this question is put to Ranbir than me. I don’t want to comment for anybody else.
But Ranbir once said that apart from his family and Ayaan, you would be the one person he would give up his life for? I really hope that’s true. I think that friendship, support and being there for each other in life is extremely, extremely important and if I was ever in need, I really hope that he (Ranbir) would be there for me and that will be a great thing because being selfless in life is important.
Do you believe in selfless love? I believe selfless love is an idealistic concept. I feel people should find a balance between the good and bad times and what you need and what you can give. Relationships and everything in love and life is give and take. You can’t always expect if you are not giving anything but the foundation or the base is very important. You should have a firm base on which your love is based on. Your support and priorities should be very clear, correct and precise.
It seems that all is not well between You showed a lot of concerns for you and Ranbir? Hrithik post his break up? Right now I am busy shooting for Bang Bang and concentrating on my work. I have never spoken about my relationship with Ranbir and I will not even speak anything now.
But in love one has to be discreet? Being in love and being in a relationship are two different things. A relationship which is not fully committed to, or which has not yet reached a culmination is something I believe you should be discreet about. And I have always tried to be discreet about what’s in my life.
We are shooting for Bang Bang together. We are very good friends and it’s out of human nature that you show concern towards someone who is low in his personal life. I try to lift his spirits.
But then it has been misunderstood? It’s very common in the industry for two actors to get linked to each other, when they are working together. We have been friends since we did our first film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. I have been giving him small gifts and surprises just to lift his morale.

Talking about beauty, you have a doll like skin and a well worked out body? There is more to beauty than just the physical appearance. I believe in having an individual identity than just the physical appearance. Women are generally associated with their outer looks and physical appearance. But according to me she should be seen as a complete and individual person.
You are always ‘perfect’ with your looks at all social events? It is really tough to look perfect that way. There are often good days and bad days with all human beings. I think the hardest thing is the hours spent in hair and make-up every day. It is time-consuming, but it can be fun when you are working with a new team.
Katrina’s tips for her healthy hair and skin? Start with a good diet and healthy food. This is important for the body. You need to see that the products that you use are of the best quality...you have to make sure you are protecting your skin with a sun screen, using good shampoo and conditioner on your hair because that is something that we don’t take seriously.
You have a very simple dressing, gowns, saris, casual jeans and tee? Yes, it is very casual, simple... basic jeans and t-shirt, maybe summer dresses...I am very simple outside of my work. And at other social events, I tend to glam my look with a gown or a sari. I don’t go overboard when I go out or dress up,” she said.

Deepika bagged two honours--the Best Actor award (female) for ‘Ram-Leela’ and the most popular choice award (female) for ‘Chennai Express’-- at the ceremony. She began the year with ‘Race 2’ and followed it up with ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Ram-Leela’, all of which raked in box-office success entering Rs 100-crore club. While the Most Popular Choice Award (male) was handed over to Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Chennai Express’. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was given the Lifetime Achievement award. The special jury award went to director Anand Gandhi for ‘Ship Of Theseus’. The Ram Nath Goenka Memorial award went to John Abraham’s ‘Madras Cafe’. Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor of ‘Aashiqui 2’ were given as the Best on-screen Jodi of the Year. The positive response instigated us to go retail and thus this launch.” The duo added, “It was amazing to have the stunningly beautiful and charming Kajol with us as we took our first step into Fashion retail… we could not have asked for a better start.” They continued, “The reaction to the collection & label has been overwhelming thus far and we are looking at expanding our distribution exponentially by the next season.” This latest collection titled ‘THEOS’ meaning ‘A god’ in ancient Greek, is inspired by Grecian draping techniques, and is created in pure cotton cream, chicken and chiffon.

outh Africa has slowly been gaining a reputation as a bastion of food innovation and I don’t doubt that for a bit. I have been dining in some of South Africa’s best-kept secrets for many years now and I must say it’s quite an experience. This so-called food revolution happening in South Africa has seen many of the country’s best new restaurants sprouting up like mushrooms. For those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other, look no further than The Classic India. Nestled close to the bustling North Rand Road that pepper the Eastrand’s trendy district in Gauteng, The Classic India North Indian Cuisine Restaurant, The Classic India Barbeque & The Classic India Sizzlers is the brainchild of Manish Gupta who grew up in India with a vision of presenting quality and unique fusion cuisine to South Africa. The restaurants are located next to each other on the 1st Floor and is extremely overwhelming in the evening with an array of exterior lighting that would welcome any diner with open arms. The interior will remind visitors of style, luxury and warmth, Cast Away-esque tropical paradise. The decor allows the simplistic beauty of the food to really shine, though beauty isn’t the only thing bringing people to The Classic India Group. The restaurant buzzed with excited energy and was comfortably full with seemingly satisfied patrons.
A “Classically” Good Time, at The Classic India Barbeque & Sizzlers 1st Floor Key Largo Centre, Boksburg, Eastrand, Johannesburg with the chefs secret recipe (which they make themselves) truly remarkable and a perfectly pre-cooked Kukkad Banjaara which is Chicken marinated in the chefs secret recipe. Here’s the most remarkable part, its semi pre-cooked, marinated with the secret recipe and placed on a skewer and you get to grill at your table to your browning requirement. Yes grill at your very table! My partner and I shared one order of each dish and with the accompanying sauces to complement the dishes, it certainly was a Classic taste to the pellet. We certainly could have shared a second order, though that is more a reflection on the otherworldly taste than the portion size.
