The corners of the triangle are highlighted because it is a focus point that can be very important to attract people. It is where the street views converge. Nowadays, the Howard Street has just one direction and two lanes for parking. As this parking is just necessary for some periods of the week, one lane can be exclude in order to enlarge the park area. The street and one parking will be maintained just for the local residents.

ZONES_concepts The pocket park has 3 zones separated by the street and the sloping ground and designed according to concepts: 1.the meeting space_ will be in front of the church and will not have high elements in order to emphasize the heritage architecture of the church; 2.the relaxing space_ will be in the middle because it is further from the main streets noises and it is where the most of the trees are located (potential trees); 3.the reading space_ will have a pavilion used as a informal library (in the same location as the demolish building as reference) and seating spaces, therefore more architectural spaces.

The paths were designed to create perspective and peaceful experience to the pedestrian. It was designed to avoid the monotony of the straight path and to break the rigid triangle form. The organic circulation shape was ďŹ rst inspired by the symbol of taoism (yin yang) as reference to yoga practice at the relaxing space. The path in front of the church is related to the symbol of holy spirit: the bird, dove (we can see clearer in the site plan). The new pocket park Zen has also secondary paths responsible to increase the number of access and to connect spaces. In the Relaxing Space, the secondary path forms a v-shape around the pond.

The primary and organic path subdivide the park according to characteristics such as 1.1_lunch space, 1.2_open reading space, 1.3_ closed reading space, 2.1_yoga solo (individual), 2.2_yoga group, 3.1_open meeting space and 3.2_ sculpture space. Howard Street will be maintained in order to attend the families that already lives in front of it. However, it will have 2 points of traffic calm in the relaxing and meeting space connection in order to slow the car speed. The vegetation was designed according to MALAMUT M. (2011) book’s concepts of “ceiling”, “wall” and “floor” that the vegetation can transmits.
