The Archipacker Calendars 2021 were the launching of my career as art director and designer in Brazil, where I was able to link my two passions: layout design and architecture. The aim of the Collection was to instigate the desire to travel, to learn, to decorate and to be useful. igtv with more details about the project:

After working 4 years as an architect, I decided to follow my passion and focus into editorial design. The a5 is a booklet made as a guide for easy and quick source of information about the projects I visited together with estúdio kmmk in the Openhaus Zürich 2019. This sample was a guide for personal use.
This catalog was designed for a children’s toy industry in Brazil, which produces sustainable toys inspired in the montessori method. The challenge was to create the first fabrink’s catalog that would be the base for new collections to come and for this reason, it should include also chapters about the brand.
The clean and dynamic result was possible due the repetition of illustrations and due the separation of chapter and collections with colours – each new chapter begins with a solid color page. In order to achieve easy-reading, it was used left alignment for the text, enough leading and ludic fonts and signage.

Through estúdio kmmk, I was able to get experience into a lot of different tasks into the graphic design field focused on architecture. Besides the logo itself, I got the opportunity to create an opening sequence for the studio: a GIF which moves according to a very Brazilian rhythm. The Origami House is a project by estúdio kmmk in the Mid-North Region of Brazil. To minimize the use of materials and improve performance, it was designed like an origami. Besides the inspection of the construction site I was also responsible for all the visualization work, such as plans and schemes for publication.
The Marquês de Pombal Mall is a mix-used building designed by the architecture and civil engineering office Group Vizze. The task was to work on the plans and in a 3D scheme with the main focus of selling. With that in mind, I proposed an axonometry and a clean, but also efficient visualization.

In 1788-1792 Warsaw played host to the extraordinary deliberations of the Great Seym – a parliamentary conclave that resulted in the enactment of the Polish Constitution on 3 May 1791. It was the first in Europe and only the second modern-style basic law in the world, after the American Constitution. However, the main objective of the Great Seym sessions was to protect Poland against the danger lurking from its neighbors: Russia, Prussia and Austria. 1795 The process of the partitioning of Poland at the hands of Prussians, Austrians, and Russians occurred after the fall of the Kociuszko Uprising. The enactment of the 3 May Constitution and reforms designed to empower the state triggered off Russian military intervention. In response, in 1794 Poles fought back and launched the Kociuszko Uprising, which ended in surrender and the massacre of the civilian population of Praga (Warsaw district on the right bank of the Vistula River) at the hands of the tsarist General Suworow and his soldiers. In 1795 Poland was partitioned and disappeared off the map of Europe for 123 years.

Despite the loss of independence, Warsaw was growing rapidly. Elegant buildings and notable palaces were erected at that time, such as the Wielki Theatre, Staszic Palace and Belvedere Palace. Founded in 1816, the Warsaw University had five faculties: medicine, law, theology, philosophy, fine arts and science.

During years of enslavement, the capital of Poland remained the political focal point of the country. Secret patriotic movements against the occupiers were also organised here. It was in Warsaw that rebellious ideas were first forged. These ideas led to two more national revolts and attempts to wrest back freedom; they are known as the 1830 November Uprising and 1863 January Uprising. Intensified political and cultural oppression did not halt the economic development of the city. In the late 19th and early 20th century Warsaw became a major industrial centre with 450 factories employing nearly 30,000 workers. The city was becoming a modern metropolis with gas lighting and modern water supply and sewage system.

The reinstatement of Poland’s sovereignty was among the Versailles Treaty resolutions ending the World War I. Poland was one of the first countries in the world to grant women the right to vote in all elections. Already in 1919 the first women served as parliamentarians in the Polish Seym.

Filled with joy and new hope evoked by the regained independence, Warsaw was yet again witness to new events that were of critical importance to Europe’s future. The defeat of the Red Army during the Polish-Soviet War by Polish troops in the great Battle of Warsaw in 1920 stopped the threat of communist expansion to Western Europe. That battle, also known as the Miracle at the Vistula, is considered by historians as one of the most important battles in history that determined the world’s destiny.

The multicultural nature of Warsaw gave it character and colour, a wealth of customs and traditions and an ambience of tolerance and respect.

1939 Outbreak of World War II begins the most dramatic period in Warsaw’s history. The vigorous growth of the city was disrupted by the outbreak of World War II. On 27 September 1939, nearly one month after the beginning of the German invasion, Warsaw was forced to capitulate and the dreadful time of German oppression began in earnest. German terror was met with determined Polish re-sistance. The Polish Underground State, with the biggest underground Home Army in Europe, was formed in Warsaw. Crucial political and military decisions were made in Warsaw.

Der namensgebende Badepavillon mag von aussen unsichtbar sein. Doch steckt er sehr wohl noch im LazienkiPalast: Inmitten der T-förmigen Umfassungswände zeichnet er sich als Quadrat ab. Auch die zentrale Rotunde geht auf niederländischen Architekten Tylman van Gameren zurück, der 1689 die romantische Seelage begründete, sollte sowohl der Erholung, der Unterhaltung als auch der Kontemplation dienen. Unübersehbar ist, womit sein Nachfolger zwei Dekaden zubrachte. Auf der Suche nach einem Ort für seine Sommerresidenz erwarb Stanislaus August im Jahr 1764 das Badehaus zusammen mit Ujazdów. Mit Hilfe zweier Architekten, dem Italiener Domenico Merlini und dem aus Dresden stammenden Johann Christian Kamsetzer, wandelte der König das barocke Pavillon des Badehauses in das klassizistische Palais auf der Insel um. So wurde der zierliche Barockpavillon auf zwei Geschosse aufgepumpt und mit Fassaden von klassischer Monumentalität unistellt. Angelehnt an die italienischen Vorbilder sollte es den Traum von einem idealen, modernen und souveränen Staat symbolisieren. Der Clou sind die Arkadenbrücken, die den Nord-Portikus und die Süd-Loggia optisch bis zum Festland verlängern. Dadurch scheint der Palast selbst auf dem Wasser zu schwimmen.

The site of the Metropolitan office development is at the northern edge of Pilsudski Square, one of Warsaw’s most important public spaces and home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and national ceremonial events. Formerly Victory Square, the large space was bordered by the seventeenth-century Saski Palace and the Baroque Brühl Palace, however both were destroyed during the war. The new building completes the missing edge of the square, providing a modern counterpart to neighbouring historic buildings, while sympathetically echoing their height, massing and materials.
Der Herbert Hoover Platz (Plac Herberta Hoovers), nicht sehr bekannt unter diesem Namen, ist das historische Zentrum Warschaus - eine grüne Enklave am breitesten Abschnitt der Krakowskie Przedmiescie, zwischen dem Mickiewcz Denkmal und der Statue der Gesegneten Jungfrau Maria von Passau.

Durch die «Wasserstufen», die den Platz gen Süden abgrenzen, kann sich das Mickiewicz Denkmal gut in die Anlage des Plat-zes integrieren. Das mit Kupfermatte verkleidete Dach des Pavillons, der sich zwischen Mauern befindet, verschmilzt mit den geschnittene Heckendickicht. Es ist beabsichtigt, dass es so aussieht, als ob er immer schon dagewesen ist, oder als ob er überhaupt nicht dort wäre. Die 15 Meter grosse, verglaste Wand des Pavillons, wird den Platz in den Innenbereich des Gebäudes mit einbinden.

Das Hauptziel der Planung war es, den vernachlässigten Platz zu gestalten und aus ihm einen attraktiven öffentlichen Platz in einer Gartenanlage zu machen. Räumlich gesehen war der wichtigste Entschluss, einen verlängerten Platz, der unterhalb der Krakowskie Przedmiescie abgesenkt ist, zwischen den historischen Denkmälern unterzubringen. Diese klare Gestaltung ermöglichte eine bessere Verknüpfung des begrünten Platzes mit der Strasse, die auf zwei Ebenen um ihn herumführt. Neue Einrichtungen: ein Café-Pavillon, ein Kiosk, öffentliche Toiletten, ein unterirdisches Restaurant und eine Galerie sind eingebettet in die Anlage der bereits bestehenden und der neu gestalteten Steinmauern.
The building extends to the perimeter of the site to establish an appropriate presence on the square, while an open public space, 50 metres wide at its heart, maintains pedestrian routes through the site. The drum-like space provides the social focus of the scheme and is lined with cafes and restaurants. At its centre is a dramatic water feature, surrounded by a ring of mature trees. The circular motif continues with a ring of light, cantilevered from the first floor of the building, which provides illumination for evening al fresco dining, and a gently glowing halo of light around the top of the building. Above the ground level shops and restaurants there are five storeys of flexible office accommodation, grouped in three separate, yet connected buildings. Below, the underground parking level provides space for 400 cars. The glazed façades maximise daylight in the offices and take advantage of views over the square and surrounding historic buildings, while vertical granite fins balance this sense of transparency with the impression of solidity. Transforming the building’s appearance from solid to transparent according to the viewer’s perspective, the fins give the façade a rich texture appropriate to the significance of the Metropolitan’s setting.

Ursprünglich war dieses Gebäude als ein Hotel für im Ausland lebende Polen, die ihre Heimat besuchen, geplant. Doch dann wurde es als Wohnhaus mit hohem Standard realisiert, mit Wohnungen, die für Normalsterbliche nicht zu bekommen waren. Dies verhalf dem 19-Geschosser zu seinem Spitznamen Dewisowiec (»Devisenturm«). Bekannter sind jedoch die Bezeichnungen »Hammer« oder »Haus mit der heruntergefallenen Kinnlade«, die der Gebäudeform geschuldet sind. In den zwei obersten, auskragenden Geschossen war ursprünglich ein Restaurant mit Terrasse untergebracht, das jedoch längst geschlossen ist — ebenso wie die spätere Nutzung als Nachtklub. Das Hochhaus ragt wie ein erratischer Block über seiner Umgebung an der Weichselböschung empor und bildet einen markanten Auftakt zur Innenstadt.

studied architecture in Warsaw, Montpellier and Tampere, and gained experience at the Berlage Instituut in Amsterdam and at EASA workshops. She is the cofounder and member of the design group Centrala since 2001. She has been writing on architecture, researching perception of space, developing her unique ideas of interior design. In 2015 she was a guest critic on diploma project at Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne and a fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. In 2016 she was a fellow Khoj International Artists‘ Association in New Delhi and co-curator of the “Jacek Damiecki. Macroforms” architectural exhibition in Zacheta National Gallery of Art.
studied architecture in Rome, worked at Urhahn Urban Design, Amsterdam, and collaborated with STAR, strategies + architecture, Rotterdam as well as with studiometrico, Milan. He joined CENTRALA in 2010. Simone De Iacobis is the winner of awards and distinctions in architectural and photographic competitions and has published his photographical works in MONU, CityVision, The Glory of the City. In 2015 De Iacobis was a fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. In 2016 he was a guest lecturer at Ecole Nationale Supérieure d‘Architecture de Nancy and a fellow of Khoj International Artists‘ Association, New Delhi.

Anlässlich seines Besuchs in der polnischen Hauptstadt schlug der damalige sowjetische Aussenminister Molotow 1951 scheinbar beiläufig vor, in Warschau ein Hochhaus nach Moskauer Vorbild zu bauen. Als »Geschenk des sowjetischen Volkes an das polnische Volk« sollte der Palast der Kultur und Wissenschaft die Freundschaft zwischen den beiden Ländern zementieren. Eigentlich hätten sich die Warschauer von Moskau lieber eine U-Bahn schenken lassen, doch Molotows scheinbar spontaner Vorschlag war bereits über parteiinterne und diplomatische Kanäle vorbereitet worden. Zum Studium der nationalen Form liess sich das sowjetische Architektenteam unter Lew Rudnew von polnischen Architekturdenkmälern, etwa den Krakauer Tuchhallen mit ihrer charakteristischen Attika, inspirieren. Die Typologie des Gebäudes entsprach jedoch den »Sieben Schwestern«, den Zuckerbäckerhochhäusern, die zu jener Zeit in Moskau entstanden. Dieselben Architekten, die in Warschau den Kulturpalast planten, waren in Moskau für den Neubau der Lomonossow-Universität verantwortlich. Obschon als Geschenk deklariert, mussten die Polen die Erschliessung des Grundstücks und die Unterkunft der sowjetischen Arbeiter in der eigens errichteten Siedlung Przyjain (»Freundschaft«) aus dem eigenen Budget bezahlen. Der am 22. Juli 1955 eingeweihte Palac Kultury i Nauki (PKiN) misst, inklusive der vergoldeten Nadel an der Spitze, 230,68 Meter. Wie bei den amerikanischen Hochhäusern der Zwanzigerund Dreissigerjahre (an denen sich die sowjetischen Ingenieure orientiert hatten) besteht die Tragstruktur aus einem Stahlskelett, das mit Backsteinen (24 Mio. Stück) ausgefacht und verkleidet wurde. Die Fassade besteht aus Keramikplatten, für architektonische Details wurden Kalkstein, Sandstein und Granit verwendet. Im zentralen Hochhausteit sind vorwiegend Büros untergebracht. Die Sockelgebäude beherbergen den 3.200 Sitze fassenden Kongresssaal sowie Museen, ein Hallenbad, Kinos und andere Kultureinrichtungen. Diese Nutzungen waren zwar durchaus von praktischem Wert. Die Bevölkerung verstand den Turm jedoch in erster Linie als Machtsymbol dies umso mehr, als er sich zunächst einsam über der noch weitgehend zerstörten Stadt erhob. Von nirgendwo sonst hat man einen besseren Blick auf die Stadt und ihr Umland als von der Terrasse im 30. Stock. Böse Zungen sagen, dass es sonst keinen anderen Ort in Warschau gebe, von dem aus man den Palast nicht sehen muss. 81

The whole final presentation was made inspired by the duality life&death, represented graphically and physically in the architecture project. It was built as a story that shows the project gradually, for the audience to stay interested until the end. The final project was documented in thesis book that also justifies its relevance.

The lot is characterized by the sloping ground and a view of the Yarra River. The initial shape was designed according to a 5 meters grid. The idea is to enjoy the most views of the nature, the river and the bridge rather than focus in just one, thus resulting in a fan shape of multiple individual rectangles.
