The Lakota were located in the 5 states; North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. The majority of this area is known as the Great Plains. The Great Plains is a region of rolling hills and grasslands.

The Lakota sometimes had to move around in certain parts of their region to follow and hunt buffalo.

Where they were located was west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rocky Mountains region.

The first picture on the bottom is a dream catcher. The Lakota believed that the good dreams passed through the center hole and the bad dreams got caught in the web part of the dream catcher.

The Lakota hunted bears as well. Whoever had killed the bear, made a necklace out of the bear’s claws and kept the necklace. Almost like a souvenir.

When the Lakota went on long trips, some of them used woven bags which were known as saddle bags. The “saddle bags were used to store belongings on these trips. The Lakota Indians made many different designs and patterns on the bags.

Lakotas diet Lakota did have a pretty good diet. The buffalo was pretty much there main diet.

Usually if they killed one buffalo it would feed a whole village. They cooked it dried it and pounded it. After that process it was turned into some sort of jerky. They also could turn it into pummela.

They also harvested beans and squash.

Lakota clothing The lakota clothing is pretty simple to me. The women wore very nice dresses. The dresses were heavily beaded for special occasions. They used porcupines needles as thread and horse skin as the main part of the dress.

Lakota clothing The lakota used a cool thing called a saddle bag. They used a saddle Bag for long trips to carry there belongings.
