Food The Lakota ate deer, elk, buffalo, and corn. They ate this food because these animals were living where they lived. So they always knew where and how to get food. The Lakota had to hunt for meat, and grow their corn. They were corn farmers.Utensils they used were the mortar and pestle, used for grinding food. Another utensil was a rock covered in hide, used to pound dry meat. The lakota were not food wasters, so whenever they had leftovers, the would dry sood by draping it over striped willow trees to dry.
The Lakota food is Food not to different from ours. We eat corn just like they did. So did we both eat meat, but I dont think its too often that we have buffalo, deer, or elk on the table for dinner. We can just get our food from the supermarket, but the men and boys of the Lakota were directly responsible for going out and hunting meat, while females had to serve it and prepare.
Arts and Crafts
The lakota indians craft their own clothing such as pants shirts and shoes. Lakota indians craft their own bags to that were made of long weeds. The men of the lakota indians sketch wars that were long long ago.lakota girls made jewelry such as dream catchers and bracelets.also lakota boys made their own weapons such as bow and arrow and spears.
Their best craft is there housing.ARTS/the lakota indians do a ghost dance and the war dance and many many more but they had games to its one game called the hoop game you have to throw the arrow into the hoop. And they had a few songs to its one called the dream song ita by a lakota girl
Shelter
Lakota homes were called tipis, also spelled teepee, or tepee. Tipis were shaped as a cone, normally a diameter of 12-16 inches. If you were to look at one from the outside, they would totally seem small, but inside, there is plenty of space, more than enough for a fire pit! There really is a firepit in all tipi’s, though. They are there to cook food. All tipi’s have a smoke flap so the inside won’t be full of smoke. Firepits also heat up a tipi.
The Lakota Native Americans only used natural resources. The natural resources for a tipi is wooden poles, a hide cover, ropes, and pegs. What makes tipi’s special is that since the Lakota were nomadic, {they followed the buffalo herd because they rely on them for basically everything}, tipi’s were very easy to set up and take down. So easy in fact, the could set up a new living area within an hour. The arrangement for tipi’s were sometimes in a circle, sometimes just anywhere.
