JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SACRAMENTO

The Junior League of Sacramento (JLS) came into existence through the efforts of a group of women working together to better the community in which they lived. Founded in 1942 and now in its 70th year, the JLS offers a unique and powerful way to make a difference in our community; supporting and training its members to become effective community leaders. In addition to providing regular training and volunteer opportunities, the JLS has established or co-established prominent area institutions including the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, the Crisis Nursery, Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Sacramento Children’s Museum, Fairytale Town, and most recently, its partnership with the Sacramento Public Library’s Read & Feed Garden. These legacies are a testament to the lasting impact the JLS has in Sacramento. Sacramento Fashion Week has admired the Junior League for their commitment to develop the potential of women, and to improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. It is because of this vision that SACFW choose the Junior League as the beneficiary for the 2013 year, because it aligned with the goal to develop the future leaders and young professionals in the fashion industry through Sacramento Fashion Week’s core team and the internship program.
