ON THE COVER Fashion starts with inspirtation, which is then translated into a sketch and finally the finished piece. A designer’s journey in the fashion industry is much like the process of making a masterpiece. It starts with an idea, which is continually built upon and refined until it becomes something to be proud of. Sac Fashion Week is now in it’s fourth year and with the support of our community and geneorous sponsors, this annual event will continue to grow and blossom into the masterpiece we wish to achieve. This was our inspiration for the cover. Thank you Sacramento! EMERGING DESIGNERS AUBREY JADE
For the designer of Aubrey Jade, fashion has always been a necessity in her life; she compares it to that of water, to quench her artistic thirst. Her granny, who was once head designer and supervising pattern-maker for the French designer, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) & Levi Strauss Company, is the source of her fashion roots. In November 2007, Aubrey Jade Clothing was officially born, in honor of the loss of a very close family member and best friend Jade. Aubrey Jade’s collections vary from everyday wear to custom couture pieces. BRENDA VIE
Brenda Villalta’s, for Brenda Vie, inspiration comes from vintage fashion, men’s wear, and her relentless quest to find new ways of combining fun prints and colors to create harmony. Her fall 2011 collection, “Pink Tuxedo”, is a feminine take on the classic tuxedo, incorporating elements from the iconic men’s black tie attire and contrasting it with pink, floral prints, and soft fabrics, creating a collection of women’s cocktail mix and match separates that are playful and flirty.
