Others is a Salvation Army initiative using fair trade principles to create jobs and contribute to empowerment and poverty alleviation. We sell beautiful products that are carefully handcrafted by our artisans in Bangladesh and Kenya.
Others artisans are engaged through relationships with local Salvation Army programs that focus on economic development in rural and urban settings. Examples include self-help groups focusing on women’s empowerment and projects for rehabilitation of sex workers or trafficking victims.
Through training, flexible working conditions and fair wages, our aim is to help our artisans to become more independent, helping them to provide for their families, improve their living conditions, and put their children through school. When supporting Others, you contribute to sustainable development in Bangladesh and Kenya.
We are pleased to share with you our New Spring/Summer 2025 Retail Catalog.
All wood products made by Others are handcrafted by skilled carpenters at our workshop in Jashore, Bangladesh. We use sustainably sourced local woods called Gamari and Albizia Saman. These are typically grown in yards and by roadsides, and sold when a family needs an extra source of income.
The products are sold untreated, but can be treated with a light coating of oil if desired.

Our artisans are involved in all steps of the process from harvesting the fibers to washing, drying, and weaving the final product. These products are made in Jhnaidah, Bangladesh, an area where this craft has a long tradition.
These beautiful baskets are handwoven by our groups in Kenya.
The baskets are made from the local sisal plants which can be found everywhere. Our producers harvest the sisal, extract the fibers, dry them, dye them, spin threads and weave the baskets.

Bucket Bag is handcrafted using soft yarn from upcycled sweaters and natural sisal fibers.
Introducing our handwoven flatweave Turkish Towel. Despite being thin and lightweight, it’s very absorbent and takes up minimal space compared to regular towels. It dries quickly, making it ideal for beach trips and travel. Its generous size (180x90cm) allows for versatile use as a sarong, bath towel, or beach blanket.
These lovely Kenyan Beaded Knot Bracelets are made from ceramic beads, nylon wire, and brass lockers. Perfect for that summer look and mixing and matching with our other bracelets.
These lightweight, delicate Crosses Scarves are perfect for cold summer nights or chilly autumn mornings. They can be folded to easily fit in your pocket.
Scarves are hand-loomed at The Salvation Army’s production center in Jashore, Bangladesh and woven with dip-dyed threads that give a subtle cross pattern.

These purses are like traditional “Dhaka” purses, but with an updated design. They are hand-embroidered on cotton lined and closed with a matching tassel zipper.
These small products are perfect for utilizing surplus wood from other production at our carpentry workshop in Jashore, Bangladesh.
These beautiful wooden shoehorns are designed by Norwegian designer, Sverre Uhnger, and are produced at our workshop in Jashore, Bangladesh.
Together with our head carpenter Anath and his team, Sverre has developed a quality, functional product. The shoehorn is made from locally sourced Albizia Saman and treated with a varnish consisting of natural local ingredients.
The shoehorn is available in two sizes, 60 cm and 20 cm.
Floral Easter eggs, now available in a boxed set of 3, feature a green, white, and blue egg decorated with spring flowers. Each egg is hand-embroidered in Bangladesh, and the motif will vary between the six eggs above.
