Bacardi Original

Bacardi / YCN

The Brief Make Bacardi the brand appeal to 18-24 year old Males in a Bar Environment. Deliverables Product Proposal, Product Packaging, Bar Display, Drink Display, Promotional Material including Billboard Advertisments, Beer Mats, a Website and App. Concept My concept was to use the heritage of the company to help appeal to the right audience. I took direct influence from the original crates that were sent from Cuba to the UK to help protect the bottles and toned down the original brand colours for a modern vintage design appeal.

Experience This project allowed me to be more adventurous with design working on a 3D level, thinking about how the product can be packaged, dustributed and promoted is vital for this particular brief. I was allowed to work with different materials such as glass and wood. It also give me experience with photographing and preenting the work clearly and for a proffesional design competition, YCN.

Identity

Web Design

The Brief Freelance work. Branding & Identity for Mobile Photographer Eleanor Finch. Deliverables Logo, Corperate Colour Scheme & Typeface, Letterhead, Compliment Slip, Envelope, Business Card & Website. Concept Speaking with the client, I was asked to create a logo which was clean, proffesional and effective. She also wanted it to subtly represent the lens of her slr camera. I introduced this by emphasising the ‘O’ in her name and creating a box around the logo, like that which would be found through the viewfinder of a camera. I used a subtle pink and black colour scheme which again was chosen by the client. This represented the fact that she was a female in a male dominated creative field.

Experience This is probably the biggest freelance project that I have worked on to date so it gave me vital skills in dealing with clients. It also made everything more real such as costings of stocks and processes to make things on a large scale. This had to be discussed thoroughly with the client before going ahead and making decisions. I gained further skills in laying out and photographing work to look presentable. The finished photographs need to be just as good as the design.

The Brief A Competiton Brief set collaberativly by Creative Networks, Leeds College of Art and Leeds Brewery. To create a ‘creative’ beer label for the ‘creative’ events. Deliverables A Beer Label that could be extended across a range of bottle caps and beer mats for promotional purposes. Concept & Experience My concept came from symbols used in ancient alchemy, which was palm reading and witchcraft. As the beer was called Hellfire, I thought this would be fitting. I found the symbols meaning ‘Hell’ and ‘Fire’ and applied these to the hands, as these are the main tools that a creative individual uses to be creative. Experiences was gained again with designing for exsisting products. Through research had to go into the target audience and exsisting product ranges.

L’artisan Parfumer

The Brief Collaberative YCN / L’artisan Parfumer brief to create a set of four new fragrences that are based around human feelings. Deliverables Packaging for Four Scents including Bottles, Leaflets, Boxes. Packaging for ‘Swallowable Parfum Tablets. Business Cards, Testers, Promotion across Print and Web. Concept & Experience Our concept was to take a real medicinal approach to this brief. We connected the human feelings to natural chemicals that are created in the brain, and named the fragrences after the this. The name comes from Pheromone, which is a natural scent the body releases. Throughout the colour scheme, packaging and promotion, we wanted the user to be immersed with the sense that this scent was a drug. The frist two-way collaberative brief that I have worked on gave me confidence to take some risks in design that I wouldn’t of done alone as well as experiment with processes such as blow-moulding plastic. It also gave me an insight of how to communicate proffesionlay when working collaberativly.

The Brief

Concept

Freelance work. A Corperate Identity for London based Data Protection Agency, Verify Limited.

Speaking with the client, I was asked to create a logo where the ‘V’ in the name ‘Verfiy’ was a ‘tick’ to symbolise verfication. I was also asked to stick to a purple and white colour scheme. Everything else was free for me to play with.

Deliverables Logo, Corperate Colour Scheme & Typeface, Letterhead, Compliment Slip, Envelope, Business Card & Website.

16/17

Experience Another Freelance Project that was important to get right. The business is very corperate so the design had to reflect this. I got vital experience in dealing with this sector of clientelle and also designing for a company that is different to anything I’ve tackled before. The logo was the most important thing to get right. It needed to be timeless and instantly recognisable.

LP/Vinyl Design

Exhibition

18/19

The Brief In April 2013, the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch, London exhibited around 700 unique seven-inch sleeves created by artists and designers from all around the world. Deliverables A Seven Inch Vinyl Sleeve designed for the Band CSS and song ‘City Grrrl’, to be exhibited in London and sold for £40 in aid of the Teeage Cancer Trust

Concept After to listening to the track I was designing for, ‘City Girl’, I took my own interpretations from the lyrics. The design was influenced by collage and vintage photography. I used a photograph of my mum which was taken by my dad in the late 1970’s when they had just moved from a small town to a city. I sliced the image up and collaged to create the final cover artwork. Experience It was good to have some of my work in an exhibition and see how an event like this can bring creatives together. I managed to make the opening night which was an exclusive event for proffesionals to network which was good for future opportunties.

Feel Good

Drinks Company

The Brief Create a re-branded label design for ‘The Feel Good Drinks Company’. This could also include a new logo. Make the bottle appeal to a young proffesional audience who are willing to pay a little extra for a healthy, tasty fruit beverage. Deliverables A re-branded logo. Label Design applied across the 2 different bottle sizes in the glass 750 ml and the plastic 350 ml as well as a re-design of the kids cartons to match. Concept I thought that the whole look of the company was a little bit dated and bordering on childish so I tried to create a more proffesional looking brand in keeping with the target audience but shilst also keeping the fun and tastiness in the brand. I created this by using simple shapes to represent fruit and transparent parts of the label to reveal the fresh coloured drink inside. Experience Again, I felt this brief was much more in relation to the ‘real world’ of graphic design. Designing for products and packaging is something that I would be interested in working in more, so a lot of experience was taken from this. How the user intereacts with the product and how the product looks whilst on the shelf is extremly important when marketing.

The Brief Work created whilst undergoing an Internship with the design team of UK’s leading fashion retailers, Republic. Mainly Apparel Design for their in-house brand, Fabric and their Spring/Summer (S/S) Collection. Fabric is a streetwear brand created by Republic which is aimed at 14-18 year olds primarily. Bold Colours, very illustrative and all over repeat patterns seem to sell best to this audience. Deliverables Graphics for T-Shirts, Hats and other Apparel.. Experience I gained tons of experience over the 6 month period that I was interning with Republic. Not only with software skills but also how to work in a design team as one unit, how to cohearse proffesionly with colleagues and clients and also the ins and outs of working in a studio. I’m very thankful for the design team there as they have provided me with vital experience that is irreplaceable.
